Harry Potter Posters--Can't Wait Until November!

As if you needed further proof that the final chapters of the "Harry Potter" saga are going to a darker place, then the latest posters for the film should provide it.
The four new posters for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" carry the taglines "Trust no one" or "The hunt begins" and feature pairs of characters staring into the distance from behind a tree (Ron and Hermione), through the bars of a cell (Bellatrix Lestrange and Lucius Malfoy) or a half-open subway car door (Hermione and Harry).
Most menacing of all is the shot of Snatchers Scabior (played by Nick Moran) and Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno) snarling through the flap of a tent. Yikes.

Did You Know?

Although industrial hemp is continually lumped with marijuana,
making it too costly to produce under the Marijuana Tax Act,
it does serve many beneficial purposes.
For instance, hemp can yield three to eight dry tons of fiber
per acre - four times what an average forest can yield. Paper
made from hemp can be recycled several more times thanks to
its long fibers.
For thousands of years, up until 1883, hemp was the world's
largest agricultural crop, from which the majority of fiber,
fabric, soap, lighting oil, paper, incense, and medicines
were produced.
Because hemp seeds contain all the essential amino acids
necessary for health, it was a primary source of essential
food oil and protein for humans and animals. The oil from
hemp seeds has the highest percentage of essential fatty
acids and the lowest percentage of saturated fats.
An acre of hemp produces more paper than an acre of trees.
Paper made from hemp lasts for centuries, compared to 25-80
years for paper made from wood pulp. The US Declaration of
Independence was written on hemp paper.

Elder's Meditation of the Day--October 13

Elder's Meditation of the Day - October 13
"So unbelievable things like that happen. But you have to believe it first. Not wait until you see it first, then touch it, then believe it... You have to say it from the heart."
-- Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA
The power of our belief system is incredible. The power of faith is a very natural power. How do we have faith? Inside of our minds we form a mental picture with our self talk. Self talk is recorded in our minds in three dimensions - words that trigger a picture, which has a feeling or an emotion attached to it. Once we get the words and the picture, it is the emotion that makes the idea turn into a belief. You get the right emotion by saying things from the heart. The heart is the source of emotions which can cause unbelievable things to happen.
Great Spirit, with You everything is possible.

Man Jailed for refusing to say Pledge

Man Jailed for Refusing to Say Pledge
Friday October 8, 2010
Thanks to Lori F for tipping me off to this one -- a man in Mississippi was jailed for contempt of court when he refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance. The man, Danny Lampley, happens to be an attorney who was representing a client in a divorce hearing, and spent five hours in jail after Judge Talmadge Littlejohn charged him with contempt.
Honestly, I'm amazed that in this day and age, there's a single judge out there with the audacity to try something like this. It's been established on more than one occasion that no one can be compelled to say the Pledge of Allegiance. If you can't force an elementary school student to say it, you sure can't force an adult in a courtroom to do so.
The ACLU says, "Lampley could file a complaint with Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance, but the best way to handle the situation was to "educate the judge on why he shouldn't do it again." Good luck with that, folks.
Littlejohn is in his second term as a chancery judge and presides over divorces and child custody disputes. He is running unopposed for re-election in November.
For the perspectives of some Pagans on the Pledge, be sure to read: Pagans and the Pledge of Allegiance

I went to school during the 1950's, and the phrase, "Under God" was NOT a part
of the Pledge Of Allegiance. If we would just revert back to what the original
Pledge was, we wouldn't have this problem.

Aromatherapy Tip

Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:17 pm (PDT)
According to the EPA, this spray mixture is an effective way to kill MRSA.
No need to rinse.
In a four ounce spray bottle mix:
3 ounces isopropyl alcohol
1 ounce witch hazel (to tone down the isopropyl a bit for all skin types)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or two or three drops of essential oil.
Dr. Oz and Oprah recommend Get Clean
Instead of using toxic chemicals to clean your sink and bathtub,
Dr. Oz recommends using baking soda. And you can use white vinegar
to clean your windows. Or look for brands like Shaklee's Get Clean line.
Oprah says she loves their Basic H2 spot remover.

Creating a Magical Formula
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:40 pm (PDT)
Creating a Magical Formula
Everyone wants to perform spells and works of magic with consistent and
reliable results. There are essentially five so-called "ingredients" that
comprise the art of creating successful works of magic. You can adapt them
or arrange them according to your own needs as long as you employ them all.
These components are personal will, timing, imagery, direction, and balance.
Let's look at each one and gain an understanding of the concept.
Personal Will
Personal will can also be thought of as motivation, temptation, or
persuasion. In order to establish enough power to accomplish your goal, you
must be sufficiently moved to perform a work of magic. If you do not focus
fully on the results, or if you invest only a small amount of energy in your
desire, you are unlikely to realize any true results. The stronger your need
or desire is, the more likely it is that you will raise the amount of energy
required to manifest what you seek. However, desire or need is not enough by
itself. Bear in mind that desire must be controlled, and the will must be
focused only upon a detached view of the desired outcome of your spell or
magical rite. Enflame your mind in the intent while at the same time
separating yourself from the desired result. In other words, run the race
mindful of the finish line but totally focused on the pace.
Timing
In the performance of ritual magic, timing can mean success or failure. The
best time to cast a spell or create a work of magic is when the target is
most receptive. Receptivity is usually assured when the target is passive.
People sleep, corporations close overnight and during holidays, etc. One
must also take into account the phase of the Moon and the season of the year.
Wiccans always work with nature and not against her. Generally speaking,
4:00 a.m. in the target zone is the most effective time to cast a spell of
influence over a person or situation.
Imagery
The success of any work also depends on images created by the mind. This is
where the imagination enters into the formula. Anything that serves to
intensify the emotions will contribute to success of your spell. Any
drawing, statue, photo, scent, article of clothing, sound, or situation that
helps to merge you with your desire will greatly add to your success.
Imagery is a constant reminder of what you wish to attract or accomplish. It
acts as a homing device in its role as a representation of the object,
person, or situation for which the spell is intended. Imagery can be shaped
and directed all according to the will of the Wiccan without detracting from
focusing the mind on the spell's intent. This becomes the pattern or formula
that leads to realization of desire. Surround yourself with images of your
desire and you will resonate the vibrations that will attract the thing you
desire.
Direction
Once enough energy has been raised, you must direct it toward your desire.
Do not be anxious concerning the results, because anxiety will act to draw
the energy back to you before it can take effect. Perform your spell casting
with the expectation that the magic will work, accept that it has, and simply
await its manifestation. Reflecting back on the spell tends to ground the
energy because it draws the images and concepts back to you. Once the spell
is cast, mentally detach yourself and try to give the matter no more thought
so as not to deplete its effectiveness. Mark a seven-day period off on your
calendar and evaluate the situation seven days later. It usually takes about
seven days (one lunar quarter) for magic to manifest.
Balance
The last aspect of magic one has to take into account is personal balance.
This means that one must consider the need for the work of magic and the
consequences on both the spell caster and the target. If anger motivates
your magical work, then wait a few hours or sleep on it overnight. While
anger can be a useful propellant for a spell, it can also cloud the thinking.
If possible, make sure you have exhausted the normal means of dealing with
something before you move to a magical solution. Make sure you are feeling
well enough to work magic and plan to rest afterward. Magic requires a
portion of your vital essence drawn from your aura. Replenish this with rest
even if you do not feel tired. Health problems begin in the aura long before
the body is aware of them.

Psychic Shield Spell
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:41 pm (PDT)
Psychic Shield Spell
The night before the Full Moon, find a place where your altar will
not be disturbed for 24 hours. Put the cauldron in the center with a
red candle on the right side, black candle of the left side, and
white candle in the back; but do not light them yet. Sprinkle a
mixture of equal parts of elder blossoms, marjoram, mint and rue in
an unbroken circle around the cauldron. Into a tiny vial, measure
equal drops of clove, frankincense, jasmine, and lavender. Set the
sealed bottle in the cauldron and leave until the night of the Full
Moon. On Full Moon night, take a cleansing bath and robe yourself in
white. Carry a good protective or purification incense through every
room in the house. Make certain that the smoke drifts into closets.
Return to the altar and light the candles. Take up the dagger or
sword. Face the East and raise the sword in salute. To salute in this
manner, simply hold the sword point upward in front of you.
Say:
By the power of the rising sun, all evil in my life is done.
Turn to the South, salute, say:
By the power of darkening night, my shield is strong, my armor tight.
Turn to the North, salute, say:
By Full Moon in blackening sky,
I am not alone. My help is nigh.
The Goddess's hands around me stay,
To keep me safe by night and day.
Begone, foul spirits, unbidden here.
I send you back, I do not fear.
For I have won. I am set free.
You have no further power o'er me.
Face the altar and take up the vial of oil. Put a drop of oil on your
finger and anoint your forehead, heart, solarplexus, wrists and
ankles. As you do this, visualize a shining blue suit of armor slowly
descending over your body until you are entirely protected. Cap the
bottle and store in a safe place. Thank the Powers for their help and
extinguish the candles. Apply the oil and repeat the chants whenever
you feel the armor is slipping.

Key Magic
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:42 pm (PDT)
Key Magic
Key magic is an ancient and honored form of folk magic, often handed down within families and rarely committed to print. It dates back to the invention of lock-and-key devices, but the ever-evolving complexity of security technology has raised an interesting conundrum: modern keys do not work nearly as well as antique keys when it comes to magical applications. Why could this be?
At first glance, it seems logical that modern keys should work better in this regard because they offer much greater security in terms of keeping things locked up. However, the mystery clears when you compare an antique key and a modern key side-by-side: they have quite different shapes. An antique key has a little notched head for turning the tumblers, a long body, and a round, open handle. A modern key has a flat, notched blade for turning the tumblers and this blade attached directly to the handle, which is usually solid rather than open. Also, antique keys typically consist of brass or iron, occasionally silver; modern keys almost always consist of aluminum, tin, or similar light metals.
The antique key serves as a miniature magic wand, and indeed some tarot decks depict keys on some of the wand cards. The long body of the key represents the masculine principle while the round, open head (often decorated with ornate, curling patterns) represents the feminine principle. When taken together, the parts of an antique key express the union of these two powerful forces. Also, iron offers protection while brass captures solar/fire energies, and silver responds readily to any magical energy. Modern key materials possess much less magical receptivity. The short, flat blade and plain, solid handle of a modern key poorly express the original male/female dynamic that gives antique keys so much of their power. Therefore, the serious practitioner of key magic prefers to use antique keys for most purposes. You can find these easily and affordably at resale shops, auctions, even yard sales.
So what can you do with a suitable key? Keys offer cradle-to-grave service. In Germanic and Celtic cultures, an iron key placed in a baby's crib would keep the fairies from stealing the child. Several cultures recommend secreting a key in the coffin before burial so that the deceased can unlock the gates to the next world. Midwives may use a key, preferably the key to the nearest house of worship, to "unlock" a pregnant woman's womb and thereby ease childbirth. Another health-related application suggests that to cure a nosebleed, you should string a brass key, knot the string and put it over your head, and then drop the key down your back: the key "locks up" the flow of blood. This extrapolates well to other situations where one wishes to stop blood flow as fast as possible, and makes a very discreet solution because you can keep the key in your pocket and simply project its power where needed just as you would project any other type of energy. Alternatively, put one antique key on the same ring with your car and house keys, so as to have one readily available at need.
Key spells and lock spells also figure strongly in love magic, as you can see from the popularity of necklaces made with functional locks. The idea is that one partner keeps the key while the other keeps the lock, and this maintains their relationship. Keys can bring good luck or shed bad luck, and serve the same purpose in affairs of the heart. Finding a key brings good luck and may herald a new love interest on the way. To get rid of bad luck or discourage unwanted advances, carry a key to a crossroads. As fast as you can, turn around widdershins three times and throw the key over your left shoulder, imagining what you wish to discard going with it. Then leave without looking back.
The key is an ancient symbol of knowledge and authority. Keys in mythology may represent the power to grant or refuse entry into the underworld or other realms. They also suggest enlightenment, magical prowess, knowledge of the afterlife, and interdimensional travel. You might want to keep a key on your altar as a reminder of your quest for knowledge.

Communicating With the Dead

COMMUNICATING WITH THE DEAD
There is nothing wrong with going into a room by yourself, or taking a walk in the cemetery, or sitting in a favorite nature spot and talking aloud to a dead loved one. You are not crazy. You are not stupid. You are not weak. You are human.
Did you know that over 60 percent of widows and widowers over the age of sixty in the United States today believe that their deceased spouses spend time with them and actually talk to them? Are these people senile? Are they practicing wish fulfillment? Do the answers to these questions really matter? No.
I wish that someone had told me that it didn't take a fancy ritual, a trip to the local psychic, or delving into things I might have been afraid of to talk to my mother when she died twenty-five years ago. Modern religion, by accident or design, has not equipped us to handle the personal grieving process, and has frightened us into often doing nothing at all. You arrange and attend the funeral, you light a candle, everyone pats you on the back, hands you a box of tissues--and you're stuck with your thoughts, your fears, and your pain.
THEY CAN HEAR YOU
Many people say, "I'm not talking to my mother (or father). They can't hear me anyway because they're in Heaven" (or wherever). This enforces our feeling of alienation when confronting death.
Well, the dead can hear you. They will listen. What proof do I have? The hundreds of people I've talked to all over the United States. These aren't the rich, the famous, or the popular. These are people just like you and me. They work in grocery stores, the corporate office, the garage, even nuclear power plants, and they all told me stories of talking to loved ones who have passed over to the other side, and how their lives changed because they had done so. These people aren't out to impress anyone, make money from their stories, or even place themselves in the limelight.
The ancient Celts knew that interaction with dead loved ones would not hurt them, nor would their lives be affected in a negative way, which is how Samhain came about in the first place. Perhaps, over the ravages of time, we've lost some of that spiritual innocence that assisted the Celts when they welcomed the dead into their homes on Samhain.
What often stops us from speaking to the dead? Our fear, and, perhaps, our guilt.
WHAT I DIDN'T GET TO TELL YOU
I think the hardest thing for us to deal with when a loved one has passed away, especially if the parting has been sudden, is that we didn't get to say good-bye or to explain something that was important in our relationship with the person. Our current culture does not allow us to speak to the dead. People make fun of us and tell us that we are nuts, superstitious, or sinful, which keeps us from exercising our natural desire to speak to loved ones who have passed beyond the veil. The holiday of Samhain, in its simplistic, Pagan beauty, reminds us that our ancient ancestors felt the same needs and desires that we do.
When a loved one or friend dies, the most significant slice in our lives comes from the perceived severing of communication--something which humans (even the most private ones) cannot seem to do without. You can't call that person on the phone, hop in your car and drive over to see them, get on the computer and send them e-mail or catch them in a chat room, or walk into the kitchen and say something. You may feel guilty that you didn't say you were sorry for a minor infraction, or a situation that remained between you, creating a chasm in your relationship that you thought you'd deal with--sometime- -and now there's no time.
Feelings of guilt and loneliness deepen the grief process, and we try to shove the whole mess away to a far little corner of our minds, locked in a little mental box that we dare not touch.
Our very first step in dealing with death should be the assurance from our religious leaders, our peers, and our family that we certainly can communicate with the dead. It truly is okay to talk "to the air." You need to do it. The deceased need to hear you. Go ahead and tell them what's on your mind, that you miss them, even that you are angry with them for leaving you. That's okay too.
Do you have to light candles, go to a dark, spooky place at midnight? Do you have to conduct a seance? Use a Ouija board? Absolutely not. You can sit in the broad daylight under a tree, if you like, to carry on your conversation. You can talk to the deceased in the laundry room while you're doing your wash, or in the garage while you're fixing your car.
ANCESTRAL ALTARS
In our research on the Celts, Samhain, and the Mexican and South American customs of the Day of the Dead, we learn that altars designed for the dead are not uncommon, nor are they in any way evil or unsavory. Here, the altar becomes a focal point of honor, and a physical connection from yourself to a specific person that you loved who has died, or it can encompass your lineage of ancestors. Many magical people and individuals of various religions keep such an altar in their homes all year round. If this makes you uncomfortable, then consider making such an altar only through the month of October, or the last week of the harvest month in your area. If you live below the equator, then your seasons will be different from those experienced by individuals in America or Europe.
Why would we make such an altar? Recognition. Realizing that our spirits live on after death, and using a physical object or objects to affirm this belief. Understanding that death does not kill the vital essence of who and what we are. Honor, continuing, to give our loving energy to someone we cared about.
What does an altar to the deceased look like? Is there a wrong way to construct such a thing? The altar should look the way you want it to--a pleasing sight. It should not contain anything that you would find offensive or frightening. There is no wrong way to honor the dead person, unless you, in some way, pervert his or her memory.
OFFERINGS TO THE DEAD
Incense, fruit, nuts, items of harvest, milk, chocolate, ale, strings of beads, candles, cakes, colorful stones, shells, rose petals, rum, strips of colored paper with words of love or blessings--all of these items have found their way to the altars of the dead all over the world. It is believed that these items carry an energy of their own, and that by offering them to the dead, you are giving the essence of the thing--a quantity of positive energy--to the deceased. By lighting a candle, you are making a connection from yourself, through the elements of earth, air, and fire, to the other side--giving energy and the light of love to someone who has passed over.
Many cultures practice prayers for the dead. These prayers feed our loved ones positive energy so that they may work off any negative Karma. Many individuals believe that when the dead reach out from the other side to assist you with a problem, or watch over you for your protection, the deceased fulfills a very real function in "what makes the world go round." These two beliefs take the "fear" out of death and fill a very real need in the human psyche.
SEVEN-DAY SAMHAIN VIGIL
You will need seven candles (style and color of your choice), a picture of your loved one(s), and seven sticks of incense. On October 25 (at the time of your choice), light the first candle. You can say a poem, speak aloud to the deceased, sing a song, or read a passage from a book. Light the incense and say: "In your honor." Allow the candle to burn completely. On the following five days, do the same activity with a fresh candle and incense. On October 31, light the candle and the incense and leave an offering such as rose petals, a string of beads, or whatever you think is appropriate. On November 2, dispose of the candle ends and offering by burying them on your property.
I carried a lot of grief over things left "undone" with my mother. I carried that emotional garbage for over twenty years. As soon as I began talking to her, many things changed for the better for me in my life. Don't wait like I did.

Umbrella Magic

Umbrella Magic
The umbrella is a much misunderstood and neglected accessory. Often left behind on a bus, or in a restaurant, you would think that anything that's been around for about four thousand years, keeping us dry and safe during countless storms, should get a little more respect. It's time we realize what a truly magical tool the umbrella can be.
The word "umbrella" derived from the Latin root of umbra meaning "shade" or "shadow." While there is archaeological and artistic evidence that the parasol, or a simple apparatus used for protection from sunlight, was used in Egypt, Assyria, and Greece, it was the Chinese who turned this basic device into the umbrella--lacquering and waxing paper so that it could protect its holder from rain. In the sixteenth century, the umbrella became popular in rainy northern Europe. A Persian traveler and writer named Jonas Hanway began to use the umbrella in public in England. He did so for thirty years, and the umbrella was nicknamed in that country a "Hanway."
In time, the umbrella evolved into a wood and whalebone device covered in oiled canvas. Then, in l852, Sam Fox founded the English Steels Company and made umbrellas with a steel-ribbed design. He claimed it was a way to use up overstocks of the steel stays used in women's corsets. Over a hundred years later, the collapsible umbrella was the next step.
In order to use the umbrella magically, as with every tool you first need to find the right one. That is, look for an umbrella that has some sort of meaning to you. It could be one passed down in your family. Maybe your grandfather's big old British umbrella has meaning to you. Or maybe an umbrella purchased at an art exhibit with a rendering of an impressionist painting on it has meaning. Maybe you like an umbrella depicting cats and dogs when it rains "cats and dogs." Because Iris, the rainbow goddess, is one of my patron goddesses, I picked one where each panel is a different color, giving the umbrella a rainbow look.
Bless and consecrate the umbrella according to your usual tradition--the way you would any tool or piece of magical jewelry. You can name the umbrella if you wish, and ask it to help you with your magic. Since the umbrella generally protects you from the rain, you can use this device for protection magic--from the elements, from people, from difficult situations. Imagine your umbrella as a shield, keeping unwanted energies at bay. They hit the umbrella and bounce off, just like raindrops.
Some umbrellas are good for invisibility spells, although mine, being brightly colored, is not. As you open the umbrella and raise it over you, imagine that the cloth reaches all the way to the ground, cloaking you from others, keeping your energy contained. The problem with invisibility spells is that when they work, people tend to walk into you or "through" you because they can't sense your energy. And this can be a bit dangerous.
A closed umbrella can be used as a walking stick. Therefore it can be used for support magic, healing magic, or in circle the way a stick or a stang is used. When you have a specific goal in mind, take a walk with your closed umbrella. Imagine it guiding you purposefully towards your desire. There's nothing like the tap, tap, tap of the umbrella on the ground to make you feel like you're getting somewhere. For symbolism, place the umbrella on the ground and jump over it to signify overcoming obstacles.
You can open your umbrella up and take a walk in the rain to wash away tension. Think of the umbrella as representing your aura. As the rain washes over the cloth, it cleanses blocks, tension, and stress. And, of course, your umbrella can be used for elemental magic. Simply point it at the clouds, and ask the rain to go away--or to come closer, if rain is needed. Use it too in polarity magic. As the clouds and rain represent the Goddess, your umbrella represents the God.
If the wind turns your umbrella inside out, it may be time to look at things from a different angle. The element of air is telling you new thought is needed. If you like divination, look at the patterns the raindrops make on the cloth to see what they tell you.
In the end, umbrella magic is important, especially on crowded city streets. Make sure you don't jab someone in the eye with your prongs. Be sure you know when to raise the umbrella in passing. Don't keep the umbrella up if you are walking in a covered walkway or under scaffolding--there just isn't room. Take it down, then put it back up. Don't walk on crowded city streets with a long umbrella tucked horizontally under your arm, poking everyone around you and causing them to duck when you turn. Don't pause in the middle of the subway steps and fight with the umbrella, causing a few hundred people stuck behind you to get soaked Remember, what you put out comes back three times. The best umbrella magic can be simply showing consideration to others.
So, retrieve your umbrella from under your desk at work, or go out and buy one specifically for your magical work. Experiment to see what feels right. And, if you get a chance, dance and sing in the rain.

The Charge of the Crone; Charge of the Dark Goddess, Charge of the D

The Charge of the Crone
by Gypsy and Hawk Shadow
Hear the words of the Grandmother of Time:
She who has been known as Hecate, Ereshkigal, Cerridwen, Kali-Ma, Anna,
Perenna, Spider Woman, and many other names - some feared, and some loved,
but none ever ignored.
She it is who brings wisdom and the awareness of eternity.
She has been the Maiden, and remembers that joy.
She has been the Mother, and recalls that pleasure.
But age has changed her, and taught her the mysteries of the Wheel that is
ever turning, the Wheel that is life, death, and rebirth.
She is the whirling tornado, the erupting volcano, the rising tidal wave,
the trembling of the earth's crust.
With age comes an understanding of the past, and a glimpse of the future.
For, in the turning of the Wheel, the past is the future, and the future is
the past. She is the Learned One, the Teacher, the Bringer of Inevitable
Change.
She is the Dark of the Moon, the Hidden One, the invisible unknown that lies
ahead.
But do not fear her for she is not malicious, and her touch, however harsh,
is love.
Only in ignorance is she scorned and reviled.
Those who do not know her, parody her as the ugly old woman whose powers
were said to blight crops and sour the milk in the cow.
It is fear that turns her age into abomination, her wrinkles into hideous
deformity, and her voice into an evil and manipulative cackle.
For those who sought power over the earth were afraid to face her wisdom and
her unalterable truth.
But in the old days, we sat at her feet to learn the most ancient lore.
>From her came the knowledge of the healing herbs, and the chants and songs
that shaped our lives.
She sat in honor at our councils, our marketplaces, in our homes.
She governed our governing, and interpreted our laws.
She gave focus to our changing seasons.
She was our teacher, our oracle, our promise of rebirth.

The Charge Of The Crone
by Jim Garrison
Hear the words of the Dark Goddess who stands within the crossroads, whose
torch illuminates the Underworld:
I am the Queen of Magic and the dark of the Moon, hidden in the deepest
night.
I am the mystery of the Otherworld and the fear that coils about your heart
in the time of your trials.
I am the soul of nature that gives form to the universe; it is I who await
you at the end of the spiral dance.
Most ancient among gods and mortals, let my worship be within the heart that
has truly tasted life, for behold all acts of magic and art are my pleasure
and my greatest ritual is love itself.
Therefore let there be beauty in your strength, compassion in your wrath,
power in your humility, and discipline balanced through mirth and reverence.
You who seek to remove my veil and behold my true face, know that all your
questioning and efforts are for nothing, and all your lust and desires shall
avail you not at all. For unless you know my mystery, look wherever you
will, it will elude you, for it is within you and nowhere else.
For behold, I have ever been with you, from the very beginning, the
comforting hand that nurtured you in the dawn of life, and the loving
embrace that awaits you at the end of each life, for I am that which is
attained at the end of the dance, and I am the womb of new beginnings, as
yet unimagined and unknown.

Charge of the Dark Goddess
by Morwynn
Listen to the words of the Dark Mother, who of old was called Hecate, Nuit,
Morrigan, Banba, Erda, Macha, MotherNight, Sekhmet, and many other names:
Whenever you seek wisdom, at the time of the Darkening Moon, come together
in love and trust and learn of Me, who am the Wisest of Crones...
Ye who search the mysteries of the Earth, the secrets of Air and Darkness,
of Blood
and Fire, the silence of the uttermost stars, come unto me, and I shall
whisper to you in the depths of midnight.
Ye shall approach Me in silence, and as a sign that ye are free from fear,
your breast you shall bare to My blade... for fear has no place in My
mysteries, and that which you seek of me will destroy you if you fear it.
For I am the dolmen arch beyond which stretch the mysteries of infinity.
I am the silence before birth and after death.
I am the clouded mirror in which you scry your own soul.
I am mist in the twilight, the vast and starry sky of midnight, shadows on
the Moon. All things come to Me in the end, and yet I am the beginning of
all.
I meet you at the crossroads, I lead you through the darkness, My hand you
grasp in the passage between the worlds.
To those that toy with Me am I an instrument of self-destruction. Yet to the
true seeker do I bring knowledge beyond mortal comprehension.
Of you shall I demand the utter truth of all that you are, and in return
shall I give you all that you may be, all that I am.
For My wisdom is beyond the Ages, and knowledge of My Secrets is power over
self, over fear, over death.
Nor do I demand aught of you which you cannot give.
For I am the Mother of Mysteries, and as you know Me, so shall you learn to
know
yourself.

Charge of the Dark Goddess
(unknown author)
The Dark Goddess speaks to us, Through the mouths of Lilith, Kali, Tiamet,
Hekate, Nix, the Black Madonna, Nemesis and Morgaine.
I am the Darkness behind and beneath the shadows.
I am the absence of air that awaits at the bottom of every breath.
I am the Ending before Life begins again,
The Decay that fertilizes the Living.
I am the Bottomless Pit,
The never-ending struggle to reclaim that which is denied.
I am the Key that unlocks every Door.
I am the Glory of Discovery,
For I am that which is hidden, secluded and forbidden
Come to me at the Dark Moon and see that which can not be seen,
Face the terror that is yours alone.
Swim to me through the blackest oceans
To the center of your greatest fears--
The Dark God and I will keep you safe.
Scream to us in terror, and yours will be the Power to Forbear.
Think of me when you feel pleasure, and I will intensify it,
Until the time when I may have the greatest pleasure
Of meeting you at the Crossroads Between the Worlds. (by Shayla)

A Charge of the Dark Goddess
Wisdom and empowerment are the gifts of the Dark Goddess of Transformation.
She is known to us as Kali, Hecate, Cerridwen, Lilith, Persephone, Fata,
Morgana, Ereshkigal, Arianhrod, Durga, Inanna, Tiamat, and by a million,
million other names:
Hear me child, and know Me for who I am. I have been with you since you were
born, and I will stay with you until you return to Me at the final dusk.
I am the passionate and seductive lover who inspires the poet to dream.
I am the One who calls to you at the end of your journey.
After the day is done, My children find their blessed rest in my embrace.
I am the womb from which all things are born.
I am the shadowy, still tomb; all things must come to Me and bare their
breasts to die and be reborn to the Whole.
I am the Sorceress that will not be ruled, the Weaver of Time, the Teacher
of Mysteries.
I snip the threads that bring my children home to me.
I slit the throats of the cruel and drink the blood of the heartless.
Swallow your fear and come to me, and you will discover true beauty,
strength, and courage.
I am the fury which rips the flesh from injustice.
I am the glowing forge that transforms your inner demons into tools of
power.
Open yourself to my embrace and overcome.
I am the glinting sword that protects you from harm.
I am the crucible in which all the aspects of yourself merge together in a
rainbow of union.
I am the velvet depths of the night sky, the swirling mists of midnight,
shrouded in mystery.
I am the chrysalis in which you will face that which terrifies you and from
which you will blossom forth, vibrant and renewed. Seek me at the
crossroads, and you shall be transformed, for once you look upon my face,
there is no return.
I am the fire that kisses the shackles away.
I am the cauldron in which all opposites grow to know each other in Truth.
I am the web which connects all things.
I am the Healer of all wounds, the Warrior who rights all wrongs in their
Time.
I make the weak strong.
I make the arrogant humble.
I raise up the oppressed and empower the disenfranchised.
I am Justice tempered with Mercy.
Most importantly, child, I am you.
I am part of you, and I am within you.
Seek me within and without, and you will be strong.
Know me.
Venture into the dark so that you may awaken to Balance, Illumination, and
Wholeness. Take my Love with you everywhere and find the Power within to be
who you wish.

Charge of the Dark Goddess in Tribute to HECATE
Hear now, the words of Hecate, who comes forth from her cavern of trickling
waters and baying hounds.
I am the eternal soul, the dark maiden, the mother of night, and the patron
of witches.
Fear not my power, for I am justice, the keeper of the keys, and the bearer
of ancient wisdom.
I come to you during the dark of the moon, that I may lead you as your
soul's mirror. My vision spans all directions, as I walk the endless crossed
roads in darkness.
I travel between the worlds, yours and mine, my children, that I may guide
you through the shadows of the Underworld.
As I stand on the edge of sanity, cloaked, veiled, with glowing eyes and a
blazing torch, my appearance is intense, but you shall learn, my fearful
ones, that it is I who brings you fairness and resolution.
It is I who protects you, my suffered children of the earth.
It is I who heals your wounds and makes you strong.
It is I, Hecate, Queen of the Underworld, who charges thee by the light of
my love, and harkens to your call in the winter when the night is still.
--------------------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -
Charge of the Dark God
Listen to the Words of the Dark God, who was of old called Anubis, Donn,
Hades, Sestar, Hodar, and by many other names:
I am the shadow in the bright day;
I am the reminder of mortality at the height of living.
I am the never ending veil of night where the Star Goddess dances.
I am the death that must be so that life may continue, for behold, Life is
immortal because the living must die.
I am the strength that protects, that limits;
I am the power that says no, and no further, and that is enough.
I am the things that cannot be spoken of, and I am the laughter at the edge
of death.
Come with me into the warm unfolding dark;
feel my caresses in the hands, in the mouth, in the body of one you love,
and be transformed.
Gather in the moonless night and speak in unknown tongues;
and the Dark Mother and I will listen.
Sing out and cry out, and the power will be yours to wield.
Blow me a kiss when the sky is dark, and I will smile, but no kiss return;
for my kiss is the final one for all mortal flesh.
Blessed Be,
