How to Turn a Bad Week or a Bad Day Around
We have all had them.. a bad day, a bad week, a bad month .. heck even a
bad year!!!
The question is when that bad day, week, month, year gets us down.. how
do we pull out of it and turn it around.
How do we cheer ourselves up and look at the bright side?
Heavy sigh… good question!
Let's see a raise of hands for those who have the answers…
Oh wait … that's what I'm suppose to be doing here … giving you
some help .. some answers.. some ideas to turn that bad into a "not so
bad" situation.
Well, I certainly don't have all the answers … but I can tell you
some of the things that have helped me through the years. These ideas
won't solve any problems… but they will help you get your mind off
your troubles.
Meditation is a good start to help relieve stress from a bad day …if
you don't know how to meditate.. Google is always an easy fix… so
many techniques out there for meditation.. do a little research and find
something that best fits you.
Get out! – Take a walk .. a hike in the woods or near a lake .. go do
something to take your mind off whats going on… take in some fresh air
and scenery.
Get a hobby! hahahahaha you should notice I have many… hahaha …
there is a good reason for that .. creating is my way of dealing with
stress, depression and just about any other problem that may be a
burden. When working with your hands and creating or crafting
something.. for that time you are only focusing on what is in front of
you .. you can't think about the bills or someone with a bad attitude
or the leaky roof or the kids grades or grocery shopping, laundry, or
whatever else may be bothering you… so it's a good and productive
escape.. it may not solve your problems but it certainly gets your mind
of it for a while.
Friends! My friends have been my life savers so many times… just being
able to call up a friend to talk it out … get a little input… vent
and laugh or cry together .. that has helped far more than anything else
ever has!
Laugh! Watch a funny movie/tv show… send out some jokes to all your
friends…. remember the fun times …. whatever it is you need to do to
laugh … just make sure you do.. plan some practical jokes … people
watch… hahahaha just do something that makes you feel good.
Whatever it is you decide to do .. you have to be able to step outside
the situation for a moment .. gather yourself.. regroup… release the
tension … You'll find when you can do this … your view of whats
going on may change… things may or may not be as bad as they seemed…
You may see new ways to fix the situation … and if nothing else .. you
will have at least had some time away from it … we all need to "take
a moment" from time to time.
Don't feel bad or guilty… because you took some time out … that
"time out" moment may be just the thing to catch that much needed
second wind, or give you a fresh new look at the problem .. or relieve
the stress that has built up from the situation.
So go ahead .. "take a moment" and enjoy it!

SUPERMOON ~ Biggest Full Moon in two Decades

The world is set to experience the biggest full moon for almost two decades when the satellite reaches its closest point to Earth next weekend.
On
19 March, the full moon will appear unusually large in the night sky as
it reaches a point in its cycle known as 'lunar perigee'.
Stargazers
will be treated to a spectacular view when the moon approaches Earth at
a distance of 221,567 miles in its elliptical orbit - the closest it
will...have passed to our planet since 1992.
The
full moon could appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter in the sky,
especially when it rises on the eastern horizon at sunset or is provided
with the right atmospheric conditions.
This phenomenon has
reportedly heightened concerns about 'supermoons' being linked to
extreme weather events - such as earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis.
The last time the moon passed close to the Earth was on 10 January 2005,
around the time of the Indonesian earthquake that measured 9.0 on the
Richter scale.
Hurricane Katrina in 2005 was also associated with an unusually large full moon.
Previous
supermoons occurred in 1955, 1974 and 1992 - each of these years
experienced extreme weather events, killing thousands of people.
However, an expert speaking to Yahoo! News today believes that a larger moon causing weather chaos is a popular misconception.
Dr
Tim O'Brien, a researcher at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics
at the University of Manchester, said: "The dangers are really
overplayed. You do get a bit higher than average tides than usual along
coastlines as a result of the moon's gravitational pull, but nothing so
significant that will cause a serious climatic disaster or anything for
people to worry about."
But according to Dr Victor Gostin, a
Planetary and Environmental Geoscientist at Adelaide University, there
may be a link between large-scale earthquakes in places around the
equator and new and full moon situations.
He said: "This is because the Earth-tides (analogous to ocean tides) may be the final trigger that sets off the earthquake."

A Bad Habit
Being Hard On Ourselves
When we are hard on ourselves for any reason, we send our bodies the message that we are not good enough.
One of the key components of human consciousness that most of us need to address and change is our tendency to be hard on ourselves. We do this in ways that are both overt and subtle, and half the work sometimes is recognizing that we are doing it at all. For example, if we find it difficult to graciously accept compliments, this is probably a sign that we tend to be hard on ourselves. Other ways in which we express this tendency include never feeling satisfied with a job well done, always wanting to be and do better, and getting mad at ourselves for getting sick. Getting mad at ourselves at all indicates that we need to rescue ourselves from our learned ability to be unkind to ourselves.
In essence, when we are hard on ourselves, we send our bodies the message that we are not good enough. Whenever we do this, we do damage that will need to be addressed later, and we sap our systems of much-needed energy. Being hard on ourselves is a waste of precious time and energy that we could use in positive ways. To begin to understand how this works, we can think about times when someone made us feel that we weren't good enough. Even just thinking about it will create an effect in our bodies that doesn't feel good. We may be used to the feeling, but when we really tune into it, we instinctively know that it is not good for us on any level.
Like any bad habit, being hard on ourselves can be a challenging one to release, but the more we feel the burden it places on us, the more motivated we will be to change. At first, just noticing when we are doing it and how it makes us feel is enough. As our awareness increases, our innate impulse toward health and well-being will be activated, moving us out of danger and into a more positive and more natural relationship with ourselves.

Spell Of The Day - Neptunian Magic
Incense of the day: Sandalwood
The power of the sea is awesome, and anyone who has ever sailed upon it or swum in it has felt that power. Today we can begin to access the power of the sea in our own lives today with the New Moon in Pisces. If you live near the ocean, do this ritual on the shore. If not, create Neptune's Kingdom on your altar. For this, you will need a shell-anointing oil, a blue altar cloth or beach towel, a Mason jar, and a tape of ocean sounds. Anoint yourself with the oil. If at the beach, wet your feet (even if it's cold). Take the jar and fill it with seawater and a little sand. Add pebbles, small shells and a drop of the anointing oil, then place it on the altar. Say:
King Neptune, mighty ruler,
Look fondly on me.
Grant me ocean strength,
Ocean power.
King Neptune,
I bow to you.
If doing the ritual at home, fill the jar with salted water and purchased sand, shells, and pebbles. Whenever you need ocean strength, shake the jar and repeat the words above.

We have sent death away
from the village for now.
Summer is coming,
bringing the harvest.

Winter, in Slavic traditions, was driven forth from the village each spring and cast, in effigy, upon the waters of rivers and streams. As the effigies were washed away, so were the miseries and fears of winter. These spring effigies were "scapegoats," like the actual goats the ancient Hebrews covered with notes about worries and concerns and then released into the desert. With the death of the scapegoat - with the release of the effigy into the rushing stream - our own worries were ended.
Today we may scapegoat others, hoping to pin our miseries on them. Even if we have no ritual to meet the need, the human need to find a way out of trouble remains. Where ritual does not sustain us, we fall into habits that can be damaging rather than healing. Sending our wintry worries out to sea through a releasing ritual at this time of year can free us to move forward with our lives, toward summer.

About Hara Ke: An African Goddess of sweet water (which also equates with the gentle spring rains) Hara Ke comes into our lives and spring with gentle, growth-inspiring refreshment. According to legend she lives under the river Niger with two dragons in attendance, caring for the souls who await rebirth, just as earth awaits its reawakening with spring.
To To Today: People in Namibia pull out all their garden tools and seeds and bless them today before the sowing season starts. This ensures a good harvest and plentiful rains, the water of Hara Ke's spirit. If you garden or tinker with window pots, this tradition holds merit. Just sprinkle your tools and seeds with a little spring water or rainwater, then visualize the seeds being filled with pale green light (like new sprouts).
Alternatively, sprinkle your own aura, first going counterclockwise to wash away residual sickness or tension, then going clockwise to invoke Hara Ke. As you sprinkle the water, say,
Hara Ke, renew in me a sense of refreshed ability. To my spirit, growth impart; make your home in my heart.
If you're pressed for time, you can recite this in your morning shower or while doing the laundry (during the rinse cycle). The latter allows you to figuratively don Hara Ke's attributes with your clothing whenever you need them.

Are you getting excited about the Blue Ridge Beltane Festival 2011? You should be! Because this year's festival is at beautiful, well-kept, well-maintained Stoney Creek Campground Resort (StoneyCreekResort.net). And the very cooperative owners can't wait to welcome all of us to their space. We hear one of them even spins fire and will be part of the entertainment!
It gets better! They have a restaurant on-site, which means for the first year ever, we can offer a meal plan, complete with omnivore and vegetarian options (which will include many egg-free and dairy-free options, although it won't be completely vegan). You can also buy a la carte snacks and meals too!
