A person stops practicing because he is controlled by his own narrow-mindedness, shallow attachment, arrogance, ill feelings toward other believers oe selfish desire. No matter how strong your faith may appear to be now, if you discard it at some point in your life, your faith cannot be said to have been true.---Diasaku Ikeda

More on Bast

Bastet
"Devouring Lady" (from bas, to devour, with feminine ending)
Bast is first and foremost a protectress; specifically of the royal house and the Two Lands. Later she got the life-preserving goddess of joy and protector of women. However, Bast's original role did not include the "cat as sex symbol" archetype. Worshiped in the Delta city of Bubastis and usually depicted as a cat or in human form with the head of a cat, Bast was seen as a protector of cats and those who cared for them.
Other Names and Titles

Bastet, Bast, Bastis, "the Tearer"
Bubastis Greek version,
Pacht, Pasht Pasch
Ubast, Ubasti
Ba en Aset : the soul of Aset (Isis)
Other titles Bast was given with time were "Lady of the East", "the Light
Bearer", "Lady of Truth" and "Goddess of the Birth Chamber".

Relations in the Egyptian Pantheon

Although she can be traced back as far as 3000 B.C., it was not until later times that Bast was acknowledged as sister to Horus and the daughter of Isis and Osiris. She does not appear in the original Osirian myth.
>Several theories have arisen regarding the origin of Bast. We have already noted how she was considered by some authorities to have been the daughter of Ra, but another school of thought insists that her oldest form was as a lioness-headed Goddess named Tefnut, Horus being another (or later?) version of Tefnut's twin, Shu the Sky God. It is on account of this portrayal in lioness form that she no doubt became confused with Sekhmet, who is desingated as the warrior aspect of Hathor. Again, there are those who consider Sekhmet and Bast to be one and the same Deity with Bast representing the more domesticated aspect of the cat family, while others do not see Bast as an entity in her own right at all, but as the personalized anima (female aspect) of Horus.
>Bast was said to be the daughter of Ra himself and legend has it that she defended her aging parent against his only real enemy, the serpent Apep, a representation, no doubt, of the eternal force of evil or darkness.
>The Cat in Egypt
>
>
>
>
>
> The domestic cat became highly regarded by Egyptian civilization as an animal of awe and wonder. Originating between five and six thousand years ago, domesticated cats came to be praised for their excellent mouse hunting abilities. The Egyptians found cats fascinating, even regarding them as godlike. Because cats were deeply respected, they were often mummified and even buried in great tombs with their owners. Finally, the Egyptian battle of Pelusium illustrates, better than any other example, the importance Egyptians placed on cats.
>>Indeed, so highly regarded were cats in Egyptian society that it was considered a high crime to kill a cat, punishable by death. Families owning cats took care that they received attention and respect.
>>Deep respect was given to cats even after they died. Whenever a household cat died, the entire family would go through a period of grief, shaving their eyebrows to mark their sadness. Deceased cats were very often mummified and entombed with fine jewelry and treasures; a custom usually reserved for only the most powerful and wealthy. Mummified rats and mice have even been found in cats' tombs, signaling the Egyptian belief in a cat afterlife.

>"The Tearer"is first and foremost a protectress; specifically of the royal house and the Two Lands.
>>According to Herodotus, Bast was a happy and benign Deity who brought good fortune, music, dance and joy to all. Statues of cats are commonly passed off as facsimiles of Bast, but this is incorrect. The cat was indeed her sacred animal and the people of the time tended to see the Goddess in every cat that walked past, but her original depiction was as a royal lady or priestess with a cat's head. In addition to the symbols already discussed, her other accoutrements were the Aegis, a kind of small protective apron, and a basket often containing kittens. Bast expressed the qualities of the lion or cat family, beauty of movement, agility, strength, caution, fidelity to the pride, etc., all of which could equally be interpreted at the spiritual level.
>>During the New Kingdom (1539-1075 BC), she became equated with Sekhmet, the lioness deity of war.
>>Into the Greek period, She would be equated with the virgin huntress Artemis and considered the protectress of children and pregnant mothers, musicians and a goddess of all sorts of excess, especially sexual excess.

>Short Information on Bastet
>
>Bast ( Bastet, Bastis, Bubastis, Pacht, Ubast) is a name well-known in the West.
>She was responsible for Joy, Music, and Dancing, also Health and Healing.
>She also protected humans against contagious diseases and evil spirits.
>Her cult can be traced back to about 3200 BC,
>and she became a national deity when Bubastis became the capital of Egypt in about 950 BC.
>Her origin is said to be in this city Bubastis,
>although her association with the lion-goddess Sekhmet makes it likely that her cult was also celebrated at Memphis.
>Temple honoring Bast were found at Bubastis, Memphis-Sakkara and Dendera.
>Cats, as manifestations of Deity, were sacred; they protected the grain from mice and rats.
>Killing a cat was punished with death.
>Bast is the daughter and/or wife of Ra, the God of the Sun.

Bastet Poetry
TEMPORA MUTANDUR
When Nile was young; when Britain´s savage hordes
Woad-stained, lurked beastlike in their woods and caves,
Whilst daily battling with the wolf and bear,
And mighty Urus: then, wast Thou divine!
´Fore Thee a priesthood, wise in ancient lore
Spread offerings rich an drare, and humbly bowed,
Whilst Temple girls paced in the votive dance,
With Utchat-Amulet of gold adorned,
Thou didst recline on Pharaoh´s golden throne;
And when Thy time upon this earth was o´er
- And mighty Pharaoh, too, must pass away,
Ptah-Seker-Asar having called ye hence -
Then cunning workmen wrapped Thy slender form
In choicest swaddling-cloths, with spices rare,
And, jewel-decked, Thou shareds´t the Pharaoh´s tomb.
Egypt fell
On evil days: the Roman Eagles waved
Their threatening pinions o´er Nile´s yellow sand -
´Gainst Thee the Roman raised an impious hand -
Not yet, not yet, was Egypt´s spirit dead!
"The Roman slew a cat!" - Athirst for blood -
Forgotten dread of Rome - the swarthy mob
Poured, howling vengeance, from each alley-way -
And the proud Roman knew the taste of death -
For he had slain a cat! ... Far, far away
Are now those Pagan days! O´er all our heads
Civilisation´s blessings freely pour;
O, Bast, look downward through the centuries,
And see Thy children! Timorous through the streets
Some crouch, the sport of every ruffian lad;
Cold-blooded tortures wrench their tender limbs
In name of Science: others meet their end
Choking and struggling in the deadly gas,
Whilst white-clad savants, smiling, book their throues,
And khaki soldiers, shuddering, stand aghast -
Yet scarce a soul lifts a protesting voice!
We are not pagans, as those sons of Nile!
Let uns give thanks we are not such as they!
(H.C. Brooke: "Lines to an Abyssinian Cat", 1925)

Woden's Wild Horses Spell

Woden’s Wild Horses
Wednesday

Color of the day: Yellow
Incense of the day: Lavender

This is the Festival of Woden. In 998 AD it became a Christian festival, All Souls’ Day, drawing inspiration from the original heathen one. Asatruar celebrated Woden as god of the dead. They paraded the Hodening “wild horse,” also known as the winter mare of Cailleach. They dressed in costumes for sacred theater, presenting plays that revealed the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Women baked “soul cakes” for living and dead alike, another custom that survived into later versions of this holiday. Chances are, you just honored the dead on Samhain, so let’s do something different for Woden’s festival. Honor the wild horses. They symbolize liberty and independence; it uplifts even the most downtrodden spirit to see wild horses running free over open ground. Visit their sanctuaries, read about them, or make a donation to help ensure that there will always be wild horses in the world.

The Grounding Cord Exercise and 8 Other Ways to Ground and Center
This article was written by Katalin Koda
posted under Chakras & Energy Work
As we develop along the path as healers and magical practitioners, we find that certain tools enhance our practice immeasurably. One of the most important aspects of good healing and magical work is to ground and center. As a Reiki Master, I have found that these are two crucial elements to the practice of Reiki and healing as well as in magical arts such as creating sacred space or casting spells.

To ground is to bring our awareness into our bodies, to draw down into ourselves breathing right here, right now. When we do this we find our center and become better aligned with the continuous and ever-changing flow of life. To ground and center ourselves is like repositioning ourselves at the center of a wheel or mandala. We are reconnecting with being in balance between our feminine and masculine, at the center of the four directions, more clearly aware of our presence on Earth in a particular space. This gives us a clear and potent connection to Earth, which allows our healing work, our magical work, and even our basic day-to-day activities to become lighter and more energetic.

Grounding and centering not only provide a kind of container to hold the energy that moves through us, but they also gives us clear boundaries. In this way it is like we are creating a sacred vessel to hold the energy that is raised up and utilized in our work. In the practice of Reiki, I have found grounding so essential that I made it one of my Reiki Warrior tools as seen in my book The Sacred Path of Reiki: Healing as a Spiritual Discipline. I found that students, when receiving the sky-like attunements in Reiki Warrior classes, occasionally became overwhelmed by the rush of energy. Sometimes they felt light-headed or spacey and could not follow through on all the Reiki techniques. That is when I added certain techniques to aid students in their Reiki processes.

One of the techniques is called the Grounding Cord exercise, which is very useful when practicing Reiki. I teach each student this method and have them do it before a Reiki session as well as after, in conjunction with the Auric Cleanse. This way the student connects directly into the Earth, which aids the practice of healing. Studies have shown that the frequency measured around healers’ hands during times of healing matches the very same frequency at the center of the Earth. This is a clear indication that we are able to directly contact and use the powerful Earth energy as an aid to our healing and magical work. In Hawaii, the sacred dance of hula also mirrors that special Earth energy, but more specifically the volcanic flow. The dancing of Pele, the sacred Goddess of Fire on the Big Island, uses rhythmic rising and falling, swaying, and flowing to emulate the same rhythms of the flow of lava from Halema’uma’u Crater. The ancient people have
known about this for millennia, as well as that the direct connection between our bodies and the Earth is crucial for healing and magical work.

When we set up a Sacred Space, we can create as we usually do, giving offering to the four directions and calling in the elements associated with each direction. We then honor the Earth and the Sky, and find our center in that space for a few moments by concentrating on the breath. To ground we can visualize our Grounding Cord. To do this, sit quietly in a chair or meditative position. Focus on the breath for several moments. With each exhalation imagine your consciousness sinking down into the root chakra, located just below the cervix in women and at the perineum in men. Focus for a few minutes on dropping the awareness with each exhalation into the root chakra, perhaps visualizing a red, spinning orb or disk. Feel the warmth and centering of this point in the body. Then, imagine a cord of light, perhaps the same brilliant red color, growing down toward the center of the Earth. It should be a few inches in diameter. Imagine it growing through the floor
below you, into the soil of the Earth. Notice the feeling of being connected directly, energetically with the soil, then the rocks, and the water below the rocks. Allow the grounding cord to grow further down through the crystals and minerals of the Earth and finally into the molten core, the brilliant warm energy of planet Earth. Inhale that energy up into the body and exhale back into the Earth center. Allow yourself to feel grounded, connected, and centered. Perhaps the grounding cord stays brilliant red or moves into another color (any color works). If you have trouble visualizing, maybe you can sense or feel that quality of groundedness. Some may associate sound or smell with this exercise. The main purpose is simply to reconnect with your body being right here, right now, grounded on the Earth.

When you have mastered this simple but effective exercise, you can use it every day. Try changing the color of the grounding cord to bring in different qualities or feelings. When you are traveling in a car imagine the grounding cord running along with you, keeping you continuously connected to the Earth. When you are lying down visualize the cord either bending down from your root chakra or simply going straight down, whichever seems simpler.
..............Break
Similarly, in magical work, when we ground and center we are able to access a much stronger potential of magical energy. For example, when we are doing a Full Moon Ceremony, we can use the Grounding Cord exercise after creating a sacred space. This will bring us more powerfully into the center of our space and provide a very strong energy to use when we then call down the moon, do an abundance spell, or create a magical talisman. The use of visualization is common to most magical practitioners and the Grounding Cord exercise is a very earthy and real way to enhance our creative work.

There are many other ways to ground and center as well, and I encourage you to experiment. Walking barefoot on the grass, in the soil and Earth, is an excellent way to feel our selves in our bodies. Too often our feet are overly soft and sensitive, having spent years in heavy shoes or overly arched in heels. When I lived in India I was often impressed by the feet of the locals, which literally gripped the Earth so naturally, giving them an incredible sense of balance and the ability to walk across any kind of landscape.

Other great ways to ground include:
* Using crystals like obsidian, hematite, or onyx during healing or magical work; these heavier stones will give you a direct connection to the more solid aspects of the Earth
* Lighting incense or herbs to evoke our connection with smell
* Playing an instrument that helps to focus the mind; drumming or playing any kind of rhythmic instrument provides you a chance to connect with the Earth
* Eating heavier foods, such as meat, bread, or potatoes; if this turns you off, try roots like carrots or beets that will nourish the body and give you an extra boost of minerals
* Dancing, walking, hiking, and moving the body will reconnect you with your heartbeat
* Magical work (including chanting, singing, creating a Sacred Space, and casting spells) helps to refocus your energy in alignment with the natural world; practicing these arts require you to be more aware of the rhythms of nature, such as the cycles of the moon, the seasons, and daily shifts
* More Gratitude, Less Attitude; remembering to be thankful for all the abundance we encounter each day helps us to be more present, grounded, and focused

Although this list may seem obvious, we live in a society where watching the day slowly turn to night, witnessing the dawn, drumming to the stars, dancing our feelings of anger or joy, or feeling the soil under our feet are not necessarily daily activities. Too often I have worked on clients whose feet are overly arched in semi-permanent heels and their minds are filled with the restless activity of mental chatter. By taking time out each day to reconnect with the Earth, to ground and center, we are giving ourselves true nourishment. This is essential in our healing and magical work, as well as connecting with those in our everyday life.

Next time you are feeling overwhelmed with emotion, tension, or stress, take off your shoes and let your feet breathe. Open up your lungs with deep breaths and use the Grounding Cord exercise to reconnect with the center of our Mother Earth. Remember, this is a very real and wonderful connection, one that should be honored each day. We so often forget that sense of gratitude as we rush off to fulfill our tasks and by grounding and centering we can reclaim that in a very simple, effective, and present way, one that does not require any special skill or years of practice. It is vital to remember that we are in a physical form, one that will all too soon dissolve. Let us enjoy it while it lasts!

Absolutely stunning!

The odds of  seeing an albino moose are astronomical  and to see this

is even greater than astronomical.

To  see two of them together is nearly impossible.

Subject: [Earthwise] Be a Fly in the Patriarchal Ointment - Sacred Sundays - At The Green Man in N. Hollywood

Greetings Friends,

How many of us are tired of hearing how we are supposed to live?
* What our god is supposed to look like and be about.
* What we can and cannot do with our bodies.
* How we're supposed to worship.
* Who we can love and marry.
* That Goddess is a demon and Her spirituality isn't real or deserving
of equality and protection.
* That caring for one another and perpetuating ideals of caring, peace,
balance, fairness, equality and partnership are somehow a bad thing.

WELL, THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF SACRED SUNDAYS.

To gather with like-minded women and men who want to create a new
paradigm, a new future, one that works for us all in the delicious stew
of diversity that is the Divine Feminine and Sacred Masculine. Join us
monthly and be the change we want to see in the world. Help us set a
tone that ushers in a new world that rebirths the ideals of Goddess at

There is no one way. We emphasize that because it is vital in today's
world. There is no one way to embrace, engage and acknowledge the Divine
in our daily lives. We gather on Sacred Sunday to nourish our souls, to

bring alive the memory of the teachings of the past, and to continue
benefiting from this now and in our future.

We encourage you to seek your own best path to the Divine. Remember that
it is always both within and outside ourselves, it surrounds and
permeates us. We are never alone. Besides reclaiming the knowledge and

these values and how they pertain to our current reality. Even the most
experienced of us have things yet to learn. We invite you to join us as
we share our experiences to help you facilitate your own journey.

Sacred Sundays is open to women, men and children who wish to gather
with open hearts and minds, in a spirit of diversity, partnership, love
and tolerance, to gentle the Divine Feminine back into the lives of
humanity. Come and share with us ways to "live the Sacred Feminine" as
we shift our world from domination and patriarchy to partnership.

Thanks for the advice. Actually before I read your mail, I drew down the Goddess, Hecate, and I fell like a million bucks now! I think it was psychological because the God dies!

Keys To Confidence

Keys To Confidence

By Doreen Virtue

www.angeltherapy.com

You are supremely qualified to fulfill your Divine life
purpose. In fact, you are the only person who can fulfill it. So, why do so
many lightworkers feel unqualified to make a difference in this world? Why are
lightworkers often paralyzed by self-doubt?

I believe the answer lies in our past, both our childhood
and our past-lives. After all, lightworkers feel different than other people.
Most lightworkers have been teased for being weird, sensitive, a know-it-all,
or other characteristics which seem to set them apart from others.

And because lightworkers ARE extremely sensitive this
teasing sets up a pattern of hiding your true self from the world. Have you
ever pretended to be a normal person? It doesn't feel very good, nor work very
well, does it? In our past lives, we
were often hurt or killed for openly speaking about our spiritual beliefs. So,
it's no wonder that deep-seated fears surface whenever we consider speaking or
writing about spirituality.

Yet, in this lifetime, it is safe for you to be psychic. In
fact, it's safer for you to be psychic than to be psychically blocked. Your
intuition operates like an emergency broadcast system, which guides and warns
you in times of trouble, as well as in times of peace. They used to kill us for
being psychic. Now, they give us publishing contracts and put us on Larry King
Live for being psychic!

The angels want you to know that your uniqueness is
absolutely perfect, and that the world needs your idiosyncrasies to shine
without shame or apology. You have the soul of a poet and an artist, so it's
expected that you'll march to the beat of a different drummer. If your family
or friends are largely oriented toward mainstream thinking, you may feel
vulnerable coming out of the spiritual closet. But remember these important
Keys to Confidence:

Honor Your Inner Yoda. Face it: you're an old
soul! You were born knowing a great deal of wisdom, and you quickly get insight
into the true nature of situations. You may be an old soul in a family of young
souls who don't relate to your sage wisdom. However, as you honor the wise
woman or wise man within yourself, others will begin to do so, too.

Remember Who You Are. You are made in the
image and likeness of your Creator. You reflect all of the Creator's
characteristics: creativity, lovingness, health, power, wisdom, absolute
abundance, energy, joy, and peace. Putting yourself down is blasphemous. You
are awesome!

Reclaim Your Power. You are a powerful person,
by virtue of who you are. You needn't struggle or fight for this power, because
no one can take it away from you. You won't abuse this power, because you're
too evolved to hurt other people. And if your friends are threatened by your
power, then they weren't your real friends to begin with. People who truly love
you want you to be happy and reclaiming your power is an important way to feel
more confident, reduce stress levels, and increase your physical health.

Call on Your Teammates. Your guardian angels,
and the archangels and ascended masters want to boost your confidence, organize
your ideas, and push you past procrastination tendencies. Call upon Archangel Michael,
Archangel Gabriel, Archangel Raphael, Saint-Germain, Serapis Bey, and Apollo to
boost your motivation.

Know That You're Safe. You cannot die before
it's your time. By affirming that you're safe, you attract situations of safety
and protection. And anytime you feel vulnerable, ask the Archangel Michael to
protect you and give you courage.

This request is always granted, without exception. You can
also send Michael to protect your loved ones.

If You Get Nervous, Focus on Service. Self-doubt
comes from the ego's obsession with the self. The ego worries, " What if
people don't like me?" "What if I fail?" "What if I'm
wrong?", etc. The higher self, in contrast, focuses purely upon the Thou
of the world that part of us that's one with the Divine and each other. Instead
of worrying about yourself, ask the question, "How may I serve?" By
putting your focus largely upon other people or situations, you automatically
lose self-consciousness.

Use Your Manifestation Abilities. You know
that your thoughts create your reality, so ask Archangel Jophiel to tame your
thoughts so they reflect your desires, instead of your fears.

Visualize yourself teaching and healing large groups
of people. Allow Heaven to support you financially and materially while
you focus upon your mission of love and light. Ask Archangel Michael to give
you clarity about your true Divine purpose, so that you have no ambiguity. And
Archangels Jeremiel, Raguel, and Uriel can help you to release guilt or shame
about requesting and receiving help. Know that you deserve Heaven's help! The
more that you allow Heaven to help you, the more that you have available to
help others!

If It's Going to Be, It's Up to Me. If you get
repetitive ideas for a new invention, an activism event, a project, or
something that could improve a situation, this is Divine guidance. Instead of
waiting for someone else to take up this cause, take steps to do it yourself.

Remember: you are qualified.

Trust Your Gut. Your intuition will give you
loud and clear signals about how to handle situations and relationships,
provided that you listen. After all, God and the angels speak to us through our
intuition. If you don't understand your intuition's message, ask for clarity.

No matter what your background is, you are a very powerful
lightworker. We need you to be confident and powerful at this time in our
history. Lightworkers outnumber the people who aren't working on behalf of love
and light.

Together, we can take back this planet in the name of Love.
Together, we can exercise our Divine leadership skills, abilities, and power to
demonstrate that the world can operate from a basis of peace and integrity.

Goddess Ritual, Gimbutas, 4th Wave of Feminism/Embodied Spirituality

Greetings Goddess Scholars, Friends and Family,

_*WEDNESDAY on Voices of the Sacred Feminine ...*_
At the top of the hour, join us as Mary Mackey discusses *Recreating the
Rituals of the Goddess*....inspired by the research and writings of
*Marija Gimbutas*, Mackey wrote three novels that make the
Goddess-worshiping cultures of Old Europe come to life. In the absence
of written records, Mackey imagined the
songs<http://www.blogtalkradio.com/voicesofthesacredfeminine/2011/11/03/recreating-goddess-ritual-embodied-spirituality4th-wave#>,
prayers and rituals of Goddess worship - as all of us must trust
ourselves to do as we rebirth the Great She in our time. Mary made
these recreations as accurate as possible using ritual objects found at
sacred sites and drawing on the best
scholarship<http://www.blogtalkradio.com/voicesofthesacredfeminine/2011/11/03/recreating-goddess-ritual-embodied-spirituality4th-wave#>
and theories available.

In part two of the show, elder priestess, Foundress of the Goddess
Temple in Oregon, VajraMa discusses the *Fourth Wave of Feminism -
*Embodied Spirituality giving rise to "More than a Grassroots
Revolution: A Womb-Roots
Evolution<http://www.blogtalkradio.com/voicesofthesacredfeminine/2011/11/03/recreating-goddess-ritual-embodied-spirituality4th-wave#>"
Vajra says the fourth wave of feminism is a call for a fusion of
political and spiritual values, but believes this is just too safe and
tries not to rock the boat. Vajra Ma maintains that the spiritual story
or religious myth of a culture determines its politics, law, social
fabric and institutions and that spirituality trumps politics and most
of all: that humanity's original spirituality is based in the female
body. Vajra Ma believes the Fourth Wave of Feminism is fully embodied
spirituality giving rise to a newly restored societal fabric and that is
our only hope.

Did you miss?

*Janie Rezner*, writer, artist,
<http://www.blogtalkradio.com/voicesofthesacredfeminine/2011/10/27/janie-rezner-on-voices-of-the-sacred-feminine#>
musician, and radio show host discusses her "*Profound Journey to the
Sacred Feminine: A Wake Up Call from Mother God" * Janie, an elder in
the community with a lifetime of wisdom and insight to share discusses
her spiritual journey and the importance of women taking a stand,
sharing the wisdom of the heart, forgiveness, honoring the elder wise
woman, the insidiousness of Evil, men who won't legitimize our ancient
herstory and her dispute with the Dalai Lamma's outlook on sex - "Sex
Spells Trouble". We will talk about the recent attacks on abortion,
the danger of corporate power and we'll highlight some of Janie's music.

*Devaa Haley*, whose debut album is Sacred Alchemy, will discuss how
*sacred sound* can awaken the full power and expression of the Sacred
Feminine, how sound can be used for healing and explain how feminine
archetypes have different sounds or energetic resonances.

and effect consciousness and begin to incorporate the use of sound and
singing to empower your life and ritual.

CEO of MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger will discuss *Activism 101*.
