I've known plenty of pagans with this problem before, and they simply refuse to get into any discussions about religion. When asked, they reply: "I'm here to celebrate the holiday and be with the family, and that's it. So, let's simply enjoy each others presence."
I believe that should diffuse any problems............ HOPEFULLY... ....... *LOL*

A Magical Mind
Wish
When we wish for something our consciousness opens to receiving it like a flower unfolding its petals to receive a bee.
From blowing dandelion seeds into the air to throwing a penny into a fountain, we have all felt inspired to make a wish, to whisper our secret desires into the ears of the universe and wait for signs that we have been heard. Some wishes come true while others remain ethereal visions that either stay with us or fade like a star in the light of morning. Whether they come true or not, wishes are important missives, expressing our heart's desire as well as our intention to create something new in our lives. When we wish for something, our consciousness opens to receiving it, like a flower unfolding its petals to receive a bee.
There is something innocent and magical about making a wish, something that recalls the energy of childhood. Wishing is not about formulating a plan and following it step by step to attain a goal, which is the realm of adulthood. Wishing is more like a playful volley across the universe, an invitation to play. Waiting for the response is an integral part of the process. Wishing inspires an innocent opening to the possibility of magic as we wait to see if the invisible realm will bring our wish to life. This opening is a beautiful gesture in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. We place ourselves in a magical mind, and this mind is arguably as wonderful as the fulfillment of our wish itself.
In our straightforward, action-oriented society, we may tend to dismiss the power of this seemingly passive process, yet the power of a wish is well known, hence the cautionary phrase, "Be careful what you wish for." If you have given up wishing in favor of more adult pursuits, you might want to bring its magic back into your life. The next time you see the first star of the evening, or find yourself in front of a birthday cake covered in flaming candles, give yourself the gift of the magical realm that you knew so well as a childâ€"close your eyes, open your mind, and make your wish.

About Naru Kami: In Japan this Goddess embodies the odd combination of weather magick and artistic
inspiration. Perhaps this is how we come by the phrase "Struck by lightning" to describe a flash of creativity.
In local tradition, any place hit by lightning is thereafter sacred to Naru Kami. She is also the protectress of trees.
To Do Today: Participants in this festival, known as the Mass for Broken Needles, honor the ancient art of
sewing by bringing broken or bent needles into temples and later consigning them to the sea with thankfulness.
We can translate this observance into a blessing for any creative tool, be it a paintbrush, clay, a musical instrument,
or even a computer! Take the item and wrap it in green paper (which comes from the goddess's sacred trees).
Leave it on your altar or in your work-room for the day so Naru Kami can fill it with her inspiring energy.
For those, who sew, crochet, or knit, definitely take out your needles today and leave them in a special spot with an
offering for the Goddess, cakes or tofu being customary. At the end of the day, take these up and use them in your
craft to honor Naru Kami and commemorate this holiday with your skills.

Today is an especially significant day in the Mariological calendar of the Catholic Church, for it is the feast
of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In the nineteenth centruy, a new doctrine was established
by the church: that Mary had been born without original sin. Some 1,500 years previously, an African bishop
named Augustine had articulated the idea that we are born with our souls already stained with sin, so that
even before we take our first breath, our very humanity makes us sinful. Thus a baby who died at birth would
be condemned to hell - although this cruel doctrine was later mitigated so that the innocent babes would reside
instead in limbo, which is a kind of hell minus the flames.
But how could the blessed mother of god be so stained? To wriggle out of the obvious theological difficulties,
the church then backdated holiness to Mary's very birth, declaring her the only human being ever born without
original sin. Those who grow up in the shadow of this sad doctrine must fight constantly not to believe that our
humanity alone curses us. As creations of the divine universe, how can we be so hopelessly defective? We are,
like the virgin mother, born without sin.

There is no such thing as coincidence Psychic Signs & Coincidence, do we understand those little
signs and messages that come into our lives every day?
Do we pay them attention or dismiss them as co-incidence?
Why do most of us choose to dismiss then to listen to the signs?
