Friday Finds An Idea!
Friday February 3, 2012
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)

Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

Namaste'

Today's Goddess:  SHIRATA Bean-Throwing Day (Japan)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri Feb 3, 2012 9:39 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess:  SHIRATA
Bean-Throwing Day (Japan)

Themes: Luck; Protection; cycles; Happiness
Symbols: A Snowflake; Beans; White

About Shirata: This Japanese Goddess embodies the first snow, where she glistens and
shines with incomparable beauty until she freely and joyfully gives
herself to spring's warmth and melts away. By doing so, Shirata reminds
us that while the year has only just begun, the wheel of time is
ever-moving, and that we should make the most of every moment.

To Do Today: For happiness, cut snowflake a pattern out of a quartered piece of
paper and carry it with you in your wallet as a charm. Make sure to
visualize the snowflake being filled with brilliant white light, like
that which is seen when the sun shines off new-fallen snow.

In Japan, this day is a time to chase away any malevolent influences that might hinder
Shirata's joyful nature within us. People scatter beans and make loud
noises to banish evil and carve lanterns with wishes to light the way
for a better tomorrow. For our purposes, scatter seeds on the ground or
plant beans instead so something beautiful as Shirata can replace any
negativity in your life with abundant growth.

To internalize
Shirata's happiness, prepare any white beans and eat them as part of a
meal today. If you hold any rituals, use beans to mark the magick
circle, scattering them counterclockwise to banish any unwanted
influences....By Patricia Telesco

Genesis Apocryphon and Jubilees

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri Feb 3, 2012 9:42 pm (PST)

How beautiful Sarah is! Her long soft hair
her bright eyes and her radiant face, her full breasts
and her delicate hands, her round hips and her thighs!
There is no woman more beautiful than Sarah,no woman who ever stood under the canopy
to be wed to a good man. Excellent is her beauty,
fair is she under the wide sky. Yet this is not
why she attracts our love: it is her wisdom,
her prudence, and the graceful way she moves her hands.
~Genesis Apocryphon and Jubilees

The Hebrew matriarch
Sarah is one of the most renowned of the heroines of that nation.
She
was nearly a century old when she bore her child, who transformed the
nation.
But it was not her motherhood that made her great and beloved.
It was her wisdom, based on inner strength and knowledge.

Wisdom is a quality
that is not, today, often acknowledged. Yet in ancient times a woman's
wisdom -
gained through years of watchful awareness and inner searching -
was important for the health and happiness of all her family and,
beyond that, of her entire people. We must reclaim that wisdom, finding
it within ourselves and sharing it fearlessly.

Some Info on Imbolc:

St. Brigid, Brigid, Feast of Lights, or Candlemas, on February 2, is the festival of the Goddess Brigid, patron of poetry, healing, and metal smithing. Brigid's poetry inspires me to shake off winter's sleep now, stretch and start to get ready for Spring. I am still drowsy. The word Imbolc means "in the belly," or in the womb of Mother Earth, as well as "in milk," which refers to ewes coming into milk for the first lambs of the season.

This Sabbat marks the return of spring, even as winter continues it's reign.  In ancient times, people honored the Goddess Brigid in her guise as the waiting bride of the youthful Sun God. A modern tradition at this Sabbat is "Groundhog's Day," based on an old British rhyme that says, "If Candlemas Day be bright and clear, there'll be two winters in the year."

Imbolc celebrates the eventual return of spring. Fertility rites are important and appropriate now. The ancient Celts honored the fertility goddess Brigid at this time, who was adopted into Catholic theology as Saint Bridget. The God is now being raised by the Goddess as a young boy.

Imbolic is a time of cleansing and purification, for discarding outworn things or the passing year in preparation for the warm spring days ahead and to make room in our lives for the Earths's new bounty. Rites of initiation and consecration of altars and ritual tools are often conducted at this Sabbat.

The customs of Imbolc include ritual "spring cleaning" of the house, to banish the last vastiges of winter and hasten the growing days.

Candlemas, Olimelg, Brigid
Sabbat begins sundown, February 2; Fire Festival of Cerridwen, We prepare light so that our goddess may find her way out of the darkness and return to us; Cerridwen, the triple goddess of poetry, smithcraft, and medicine, presides. We bid farewell to the horned god.

Energy work and Psychism, Feburary 7th - Montclair NJ

Imbolc blessings!

Order of the World Tree started our year with a bang having Judika Illes as a guest speaker at the Hilton in Ridgefield Park on January 28th.  The room was packed and we had a great time with Judika’s encylopedic wealth of folk practice knowledge.

I’ve started a new series at Mystic Spirit as well for the spring season.  Yes, spring is coming, no matter what that groundhog says.  ;-)  The series will have sabbat rituals and workshops and last between January 31st and the middle of May.  This series, Practicing Wicca, will focus on-hands on exercises and theory with interactive dialog on how to incorporate energy, essence, and information into your personal magickal practice.  This series will have core concepts and exercises that are appropriate for the beginner as well as the seasoned practitioner.

On February 7th we will cover the following in the Energy Work and Psychic Development class.
·         5 Parts of self, creating integration and wholeness in order to “know thyself”, gave greater psychic communication with spirits, and find balance, harmony and control of the natural order of the forces of the universe.
 ·         Developing psychic awareness for finer perceptions.
 ·         Energy Development
1.     Grounding and Centering
2.    Breathwork
3.     Chakras
4.    Emerald Heart exercise for increased energetic flexibility and strength

·         Protection and creating and holding boundaries through warding and shielding.
·         The importance of developing greater energetic flexibility, resilience, strength, endurance.
·         Practicing raising, directing, and shaping energy for better ritual management and engagement.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions that you may have.  Happy Imbolc again from Order of the World Tree and we hope to see you again soon.

Blessings,
