I use em for potion brewing and such. And I sprinkle the potions on to papaers/parchments I use to scribe spells on. I also dress candles with herbs

There is an awful lot to be said about Herbal Magick! My herb mentor is Rev. Paul Beyerl, who is, I think, the premeire expert on the subject. He's the author of The Master Book of Herbalism and Compendium of Herbal Magick, both of which I recommend highly. He examines herbs in their Planetary and Zodiacal aspects, as well as their connections to the Tarot, their folkloric uses, as well as the uses the First Nations peoples had for different herbs.
I study the remedial aspect of herbs - for health, and as a way of life, and not so much their magickal uses, but it's nice to have that knowledge at hand, when I do need it.
I also recommend Hoodoo Herb and Root Magick by Cat Yronwode, from the Lucky Mojo company. It's good for whatever path you walk, tho I don't recommend the darker aspects myself. I'm one of those "do no harm" Pagans, but hey, whatever floats your particular boat.
I can tell you that I have had GREAT success with High John the Conqueror Root in court cases. In all candor, I deserved a harsher sentence than I was given...Yes, I had a good lawyer, but the result of the court cases was unexpectedly good! And, by the way, I have been sober ever since.
