Cascarones

You will need the following things for this craft. Fresh eggs, herbs,
confetti, or other lightweight item for filling, clear tape, colored pens or
tissue paper and glue to decorate eggs with.

1. Empty egg shells by making a small hole in the larger end and a
slightly larger hole in the small end (be sure to puncture the yolk). Be careful
not to crack the rest of the egg). Then gently blow on the larger end of
the egg to gently push out the egg's innards. (save these for scrambled eggs
or omlettes)

2. Rinse out the eggs with cool water and let them dry overnight.

3. Close the bottom hole with a tiny piece of tape or a bit or glue.

4. Carefully fill the shells with herbs, confetti or other light- weight
filling.

5. When full, seal the top hole with tape or glue.

6. Carefully decorate the outside of the egg.

7. On Ostara morning, catch your loved ones by surprise and break the egg
over their head. As the filling rains down over your loved one and you, you
are both showered with blessings, love, luck, and new life of the season.

A Spell of Reawakening

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:53 pm (PDT)

A Spell of Reawakening
Incense of the day: Sage

The Spring Equinox, called
Ostara by many, is a day of perfect balance between night and day,
darkness and light, slumber and awakening. Many craft traditions,
covens, and solitaries have devised their own rituals for awakening
Mother Earth at this time. Many of these can be traced back to England.

One common practice is to walk
through a natural area, tap the earth three times with a staff or wand,
and make a joyful noise to welcome the Goddess’s return. This ritual is
performed three times in keeping with the sacred number of many of the
Pagan sects from western European countries. Now is not only a good time to awaken Mother Earth, but also to awaken ourselves. We should ask:
Are we only going through the motions now? Or are we reawakening our
spiritual selves, and seeing anew all the magical possibilities of
spring? To awaken your own body, mind, and soul to spring’s rebirth,
give back to Mother Earth some of the things we’ve taken from her. Plant a tree, herb garden, or flowers. Feed her animals and birds. As you do
any of these things, consecrate your offering by saying:

Mother Earth,
Goddess we walk upon,
May my gifts be of value
Even after I’m gone.
Today, while I’m here,
May my offering be,
An act of love
for you from me.

Sweet Creation

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:55 pm (PDT)

Sweet Creation

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Geranium

Honor the sacred union of Maiden Goddess and young Sun God that results in conception. Plant seeds inside you that will grow with the growing light. Choose ancient symbols of fertility, sacred union, and conception-candy eggs or jelly beans-in green, yellow, and purple to represent fertile Earth, the growing Sun, and the sacred union.

Know what you seed. Choose three goals-one physical, one mental, and one spiritual. Charge the green egg, with your physical goal, and say:

I plant the seeds of physical health and fitness.

Eat it. Then, imbue the yellow egg, with your mental goal, and say:

I plant the seeds of mindfulness.

Eat it. Finally, empower the purple egg with your spiritual goal, and say:

I plant the seeds of the divine in my soul.

Eat the sweet. Now, sip some water, face the Sun, and say:

I water and feed my intentions,
May they grow stong like the Sun God
And full like the Goddess.
So Mote It Be.

New Beginnings Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:59 pm (PDT)

New Beginnings Spell

Now is a time of new beginnings becoming visible, hope and inspiration dancing into being.
Take a white and a black candle, and place them in front of you. Light them, and breathe in the glow
that comes from the balance of light and dark. Speak this verse as you bask in the glow:

Wakening Earth,
Shake off your slumber
Feel the sunlight.
Kore has returned,
Spring has begun.

All is possible,
Everything awakens.
Pulses quicken,
Rivers flow,
As each and every creature knows.

Excitement fills each brook and stream,
Creatures living in a dream.
Energies bursting from the ground-
Magic,
Prana,
And possibility all around.

Now awakening,
My powers are strong and true.
Surrounded by new life,
New visions are coming through.

Maiden goddesses dance
To each bud’s joyous opening.
I am replenished,
Like the baby chick,
I am not finished.

Like the flower bud,
My powers are opening.
I am becoming,
My creative power
blossoming.

The promise of life is fulfilled,
Spring has returned,
and we are renewed.
What I initiate now
Grows quickly,
And balance is easy.
So mote it be.

The Goddess is always there.

She is mad, her lover is mad, and I am mad for loving her!
This world is bewitched by the lovely Goddess.
No one can describe how lovely she is, how glorious,
how perfect her gestures, how sudden her moods.
Her lover, poisoned with love for her, calls out her name
endlessly, singing Kali's name over and over and over.
Life has its currents, cycles, tides which ebb and flow.
She looks upon them all with equanimity.
Nothing is opposite in her mind: not life, not death;
not love, not hate; not the self, not the void.
Your raft, the poet said, floats upon the sea of life.
It drifts up with the tide, and down with the ebb.
But the goddess is there. The Goddess is always there.
~Indian Poet Ramakrishna

On this day, when light and darkness are briefly equal, before the light grows and swells and
carries the world into summer, it is good to meditate upon the ultimate
falsity of all divisions. Kali, the fierce Hindu goddess, reminds us of
that truth: that existence is not bound by our false dualities. There is no light, no darkness in Kali's world. What she offers us is not a gray mixture of black and white, but a paradoxical world in which both
exists in all moments, at all points, in all ways. Life is both pain and pleasure, love and hate. Kali is beyond both, but includes both.

Meditating upon Kali is one of the great traditions of Hindu India. The paradoxes and mysteries she expresses are almost beyond words, though great poets like
Ramakrishna have spent lifetimes trying. As the sun dances briefly in
her perfect balance, let us join the poet in marveling at the power of
the Goddess.
