Prepare Yourself, Then Read this Article - share this article - WIDE

Greetings All,
I know many of us are limited in our time and can't always pay attention
to everything that's going on. This easy to read, humorous and
ass-kicking article is the best I've read in terms of summing up what's
happened to women's rights since November before last, when Republicans
took over state governments across the country. Please read it and
share it WIDELY. Women and men have to know what's going on so they
know what side they're on in this battle for equality, justice and human
dignity.

Prepare yourself. If you weren't angry before, I think you'll be
infuriated, flabbergasted and ready to stand up and fight back this
November -

Goddess of The Day: BUTTERFLY MAIDEN Vernal Equinox (Various Locatio

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Mar 21, 2012 7:52 pm (PDT)

Goddess of The Day: BUTTERFLY MAIDEN
Vernal Equinox (Various Locations)

Themes: Rebirth; Beauty; Fertility; Balance; Freedom; Nature
Symbols: Butterflies; Seedlings; Rainwater; Spring Flowers

About Butterfly Maiden: In Hopi tradition, the Butterfly Maiden is a kachina (spirit) who rules the springtime and the earth's fertility. Butterfly Maiden flutters
into your life today to reconnect us with nature and to help us
rediscover that graceful butterfly within each of us - the one that
effortless rises above problems, making the world its flower.

To Do Today: In
magickal traditions, the equinox celebrates the sun's journey back to
predominance in the sky and the return of fertility to the earth. It is a joyous fire festival when the elements are in balance, giving us the
opportunity to likewise balance our lives. If anything has held you back from real spiritual growth, now is the time to banish it and move on.
Visualize yourself as the caterpillar who becomes the butterfly, then
let the Butterfly Maiden give you wings with which to overcome anything!

To inspire Butterfly
Maiden's beauty within and without, wash your face and chakras (near
pulse points as well as at the top of the head, in the middle of the
forehead, over the heart, near the groin, behind the knees, and at the
bottom of the feet) with rainwater first thing in the morning (dawn is
best). Go outside afterward and toss some flower petals into a spring
breeze, saying:

Butterfly Maiden, liberate me;
let my mind and spirit ever be free!
The winds will carry your wish to heaven.

Growing Herbs Indoors

Growing Herbs Indoors
By Karen Hegre

Herbs can be grown indoors on suitable window-sills.
When growing indoor herbs be sure there is plenty of
light. If you are using a south facing window, be sure
that the herbs get a little shaded during the middle
of the day in the summer when the sun is shining. On
other window-sills be sure you turn the pots for even
lighting during the day.

Below are a list of herbs for beginners, the
containers that are best to use and a very brief tip
on how to care for them. There are, of course, many
other herbs that can be grown indoors but this will
get you started.

Basil; Grow in Provence pots) Requires the sunniest
position and tolerates dry air. Prevent if from
flowering to get long life from this herb.

Bay; Large pots or tubs; Prefers filtered sun and rich
soil in a cool place

Chervil; Grow in Troughs; Enjoys some sun but not the
hot midday sun. Be sure it has moist cool soil.

Chives; Pots; Keep well fed and watered. You can pot
this up from divisions from your garden.

Lavender; (Large pots or tubs. Buy the dwarf varieties
for indoors. Enjoys direct sun.

Lemon Verbena; Tubs; Likes filtered sun with rich soil
in a cool spot.

Marjoram; Pots; Choose sweet marjoram if you are
planning on keeping this herb in a warm room.

Mint; Pots; Enjoys some sun but not the hot midday
sun. Pot in moist, cool soil

Parsley; Pots; Choose the compact variety. It does
well in a room temperature about 60 degrees.

Tarragon; Pots; Takes full sun but will tolerate light
shade

Thyme; Troughs or pots; Keep in full light and water
sparingly

Rosemary; Large pots; Likes a bright situation so
reflected light can be used. Be sure however, that the
room is cool, about 60 degrees.

Sage; Troughs, Large pots; Select a variegated kind
for indoor color. Sage likes direct sun!

Now that you have chosen which herbs you are going to
grow indoors, here are some tips! The important think
is knowing the temperature, watering feeding and
lighting to give proper caring.

Temperature;
Most herbs prefer a warm temperature about 60-70
degrees. Herbs will tolerate the temperature range of
45-75 degrees, but they will not thrive for long.

Watering;
Make sure all your containers can adequately drain. Be
sure not to over-water indoor herbs. Water in the
mornings, so that the excess moisture evaporates
during the day. Air is very important for potted herbs
and over-watering can cause root-rot fungus to thrive.
If necessary place a small fan beside your indoor
herbs.

Feeding;
Herbs need feeding with a weak fertilizer every two
weeks in the spring and summer, but in the winter you
can reduce to a monthly feeding! Use half the
recommended dosage of fertilizer at all times .

Lighting;
There are special grow lights, however, I use the
regular 'shop' fluorescent lights. These will improve
the growth of your indoor potted herbs if you don't
have good window placement and lighting. Be sure the
lights are about six to nine inches above smaller herb
and twelve to sixteen inches above the larger herbs.

What's Happening Today:

lavic Pagan: Maslenitsa - Suhii (March) 21 - Maslenitsa is a very ancient festival, the holiday of the Spring Equinox and the end of the winter frosts.People enjoy themselves, engaging in much feasting, dancing, wearing of masks, playing on traditional musical instruments, and contests of strength, all to enact spring unbridled, in action and fighting. Traditional pastries are also baked, called blini (a type of potato pancake), to symbolize the sun.

Attis - Attis was the lover and grandson of Cybele, the Attic goddess who was known as mother of mountains and depicted flanked by lions. When Attis betrayed her, she hunted him down and drove him insane. He tore off his genitals because they had caused him to betray her.

Originally a Phyrgian goddess, Cybele's worship was imported to Rome, where she was called Magna Mater (Great Mother). Emperor Claudius popularized the Phyrgian tradition of bringing a young pine tree representing Attis into the city like a corpse, swathed in linen and woolen sashes and decked with violets. Members of the Tree Bearer's Guild (dendrophori) carried it through the city gate and into Cybele's sanctuary which stood on Vatican Hill, near where St Peter's stands now.   Rufus, Anneli, The World Holiday Book, Harper San Francisco 1994

The Dream of Maxen, in the Welsh Mabinogian

In a red-gold chair sat a woman. To stare directly into the
sun  would be less difficult than to stare at her brilliance.
A white silk gown clothed her, fastened with red gold.
On her shoulders sat a mantle of such brocade as cannot
be described, all woven with gold and jewels fastened
with a brooch of gold. Her hair was dressed with rubies
and pearls and gold. And all of this was just a reflection
of her inner brilliance.
~The Dream of Maxen, in the Welsh Mabinogian

Today the
light has outstripped the darkness inn its annual race. Energy pours
into our bodies as we begin to feel again the power and grace of
light-filled movement. During the coming season. we will honor the sun
and the light, feeling its power and rejoicing in its beauty.

We do not
need to deny the night to celebrate the day. Both have their special
glories. Relish the delight of warm air on skin. Let your eyes rest with joy on the yellow-green of new leaves. Touch the tender catkins and the fragile crocus petals, feeling the wonder of pleasure. We are born into bodies that sense and respond to our world. Let yourself become a
vessel of the power of the Goddess, acknowledging the beauty she has
created.

Even being called gwyddion m'self I must insist that those neopagans who read the Mabinogi, ought to know more about it. Consider Maxen:
He was also a stern persecutor of heretics. It was on his orders that Priscillian and 6 companions became the first people in the history of Christianity to be executed for heresy, in this case of Priscillianism, by other Christians (though the civil charges were for the practice of magic), and their property was confiscated. These executions went ahead despite the wishes of prominent men such as St. Martin of Tours.
