My name is Alyssa Rose and I have been practicing the Craft for approximately eight years. I have been unable to find a coven in my area and so am very excited to join yours!
I love learning about everything, and am currently trying expand my knowledge of metaphysics. I believe very strongly in natural energies and cosmic balance, but I am always looking to learn more in any area.
I am an avid believer of the gods and supernatural beings (i.e. faeries) and their constant presence in our lives. I know that they have affected events positively in my own life many times.
Thank you so much for allowing me to join your community and I look forward to meeting all of you.

May 21: The Sun Enters Curious Gemini!

May 21: The Sun Enters Curious Gemini!

Once the Sun enters information-focused Gemini, watch for a heavy news cycle! This year, the Sun forms an immediate square to spiritual Neptune and a sextile to Uranus, transits that will bring exciting opportunities ... but also confusing situations. A solar eclipse in Gemini on June 1 turns a huge spotlight on all forms of communication, so it won't be the best time to gossip! While this solar period helps you plan events and conduct research, make sure you create downtime for yourself, or else you might become a casualty of multi-tasking mayhem. Overall, this is a wonderful time to reach out and socialize, and one thing is for sure -- it won't be a boring month!

Happy birthday to all you communicative Gemini readers! We love how you keep life so interesting!
All About Gemini
Gemini is the most lighthearted sign in the zodiac, hands down. The Twins' circle of acquaintances is as varied as their interests, so they see an awful lot of invitations. Of all the reasons we love to have our Gemini pals around, their wit comes first. These folks find humor in absolutely everything, and their ability to say what's on their minds -- in extremely entertaining fashion -- is world-famous and well deserved. These word-wizards and storytellers are able to uncannily impersonate anyone and anything at the drop of a hat, including accents, gestures and subtle idiosyncrasies no one else would ever notice. But then, if Gemini were a business, its name would likely be Details-R-Us!

True to the nature of its ruling planet, Mercury, Gemini is also quite communicative. So during those rare times when these talkative Twins aren't chatting on the phone, IM'ing with a friend or answering their voluminous email, they're probably keeping their restless minds active by doodling or solving a puzzle or word game!

As for the dualities this sign is famous for? They're all true. In reality, there are a lot more than just two sides to the average Gemini, and each facet of this versatile sign has a fascinating story to tell. All that said, it's easy to see that the one thing they just can't stand is being bored, tied down or isolated. 'Variety is the spice of life' is this sign's very own motto, and Gemini lives every second with it in mind.

So if you're a Gemini yourself, you know this all boils down to the fact that you can't stand being in a rut -- especially when it comes to relationships. Your sign has been called fickle more than once, but that's not fair. The Twins are perfectly capable of being faithful, as long as the person they're with is witty and clever enough to keep them interested. No, it's not an easy task, but it's well worth it.

Life with a Gemini is full of constant activity, endless movement and fun! And you can bet they won't scatter their affections if they find someone willing to at least try to keep up. Gemini, whether you're a friend or a lover, you're one of the main reasons life on this planet can be fun for the rest of us!

Your Starcast for May 21 - June 20

Follow The Stars This Week for invaluable insight into how the cosmos affect your weekly life!

May 21: The Sun enters Gemini
Gemini is often known as the data collector. This breezy Air sign is curious about everything! Each year, as the Sun transits this inquisitive sign, information, news and interesting conversations prompt you to open your mind to fresh ways of thinking. Gemini is quite social, so this a great time to meet new people and expand your social circle.

May 22: The Sun squares Neptune
Since Neptune has recently entered Pisces, the Sun forms an immediate square to this illogical planet, which may prompt you to feel as if you've just driven into a fog bank. Determining who you are -- and where you're going -- without familiar landmarks is the challenge now. So, this week do yourself a favor and don't try to figure out the future. Simply find a quiet place, whether it's your bedroom or in a park under a tree. Escape from the world and commune with nature, write your innermost thoughts in a journal or listen to music. Logic is not helpful now. Instead, be imaginative and visionary.

May 23: Venus conjuncts Mars
These two relationship planets -- the planets of attraction (Venus) and desire (Mars) in Taurus, a sign that rules money and values -- bring plenty of discussions about household finances and how much to spend on entertainment. With all the changes going on in the world these days, sharing your heart and soul with someone you love makes everything better! Don't try to do everything by yourself now. Instead, reach out and connect with people you love ... or would like to get to know.

May 24: The Sun sextiles Uranus
A Gemini Sun has a million ideas, and when adding this aspect to inventive and bold Uranus in Aries, opportunities become plentiful -- you just need to take advantage of them! So whether you're seeking a promotion at work, feel like heading off to a writing conference or simply want to take a language class -- do it! Let's face it: You're ready for a change.

May 25: Mars quincunxes Saturn
Mars in Taurus is deliberate, thorough and known for being a bit stubborn, the last of which is a great quality to possess when you need to stay true to your convictions. But when Mars connects with authoritarian Saturn in socially conscious Libra, you're asked to refine your approach by taking into consideration others' needs and sensibilities. So while you shouldn't compromise your values, be sure to not become so stuck in one way of doing things that you're unable to take anyone else into account.

May 28: The Sun quincunxes Pluto
As you continue on your merry way, you encounter a person, environment or event that demands you change how you express yourself. This news may not be easy to absorb, but the messenger offers valuable information for you nonetheless. Take advantage of it!

June 1: Solar Eclipse in Gemini
How much information is too much information? With a partial solar eclipse in Gemini occurring close to that sign's south node, you may feel like your mind is speeding along like a hamster on an exercise wheel! As always, eclipse periods indicate dramatic world events, so watch for plenty of breaking news that might make you shake your head and wonder if we should all be reminded of our Miranda Rights ('You have the right to remain silent ...'). On the other hand, this fountain of information may be just what you need to be successful. Saturn in Libra trines this new Moon eclipse, which shows that someone in authority is there to help you with your plans. Keep your eyes and ears open!

June 2: Mercury enters Gemini
Mercury in its home sign of Gemini usually likes nothing better than to chat, read the news and run errands. However, with the immediate square to nebulous Neptune in the first degree of sensitive Pisces, you'll be better off if you sit quietly and meditate or commune with nature before you go about your daily business. Minimize distractions whenever possible so you can hone in on ideas and contacts that are most important to you.

June 3: Neptune turns retrograde
Today marks the first time that spiritual Neptune turns retrograde since entering Pisces on April 4. Pay close attention to the themes currently emerging in your life since you'll be working with them for the next 14 years! Retrogrades are always about returning to previous territory to more fully assimilate your experiences, and since this one occurs at zero degrees of Pisces, any planet in your birth chart at zero degrees will receive a message from Neptune. Don't expect much logic or material sensibility from this mystical planet. As you focus on your personal plans, maintain a big-picture view and do what you can to develop a more spiritual life; you can also help yourself by becoming more inclusive of others. And as always, for extra insight, examine the house in your own chart through which Neptune is traveling.

June 4: Jupiter enters Taurus
Jupiter is a worldview-shifter that directs your attention to new philosophical, social and economic themes. Each time this enormous planet changes its sign, it offers a new lens through which to view the world. Jupiter spends one year in each of the twelve Sun signs, so it's certainly been a while since it has transited through Taurus! As Jupiter leaves fiery Aries and enters Taurus, a sensible Earth sign ruling money and values, all discussions -- global, local and personal -- will focus on getting your financial ducks in a row. Pay attention to those areas of your life you wish to make more secure in order to reap the most benefits from this transit. And if you know through which house this optimistic planet is transiting in your own chart, take steps to expand your sphere of influence in that life area.

June 8: Jupiter sextiles Neptune
When these two planets connect with each other, people come up with great big visions. Jupiter is one of the two social planets (the other is Saturn), while Neptune is a collective planet with a global influence. Perhaps you have a plan to serve humanity in some way, or to create something the world has never seen. This transit marks a highly idealistic time, and one in which your spirituality may move to the foreground. Connections between these two planets also seem to coincide with floods -- so take sensible precautions!

June 9: Venus enters Gemini
June 10: Venus squares Neptune
Since Neptune entered Pisces on April 4 and remains in zero degrees of this sign until the first week of August, once each planet enters a new sign, it immediately makes contact with Neptune's magical, yet nebulous energy. Venus, the planet of love, enters curious and talkative Gemini, which means you'll want to get out of the house, meet new people and cultivate fresh experiences. If you're presently in a relationship, come up with a plan to get yourself and your partner out of your day-to-day routines -- it's time to mix things up! If you're single, attend events where you're bound to meet interesting people. Just remember to keep your feet on the ground ... and if you're convinced you've met your soul mate, ask a friend for feedback and a reality check!

June 12: Saturn turns direct
Finally, some forward movement! Saturn has been retrograde since January 26, but now that it's changing direction, your projects and plans begin to gain momentum. If you keep your eye on the ball and plan well, you'll gain traction by the end of the month. Decide now what you want to be responsible for, as well as what you need to let others do. Your Saturn motto for this month is, Discipline and inspiration bring success! For much more information, be sure to look at your birth chart to see where Saturn is currently located.

June 15: Lunar eclipse in Sagittarius
Since the transiting north node is currently in Sagittarius, all eclipses in this Fire sign help you create a bigger and better vision for you and your life. Don't allow yourself to be distracted by conversations or extraneous thoughts that may divert you from your path. You know what you want, so remain faithful to your life philosophy. This lunar eclipse heightens emotions, and there are those who may try to sway you to their point of view. Listen carefully for information that can help you, and do your best to emulate the tree that bends -- but doesn't break -- in the wind.

June 16: Mercury enters Cancer and trines Neptune
Feeling sentimental? As communicative Mercury leaves chatty Gemini to enter this Water sign, thoughts are colored by emotions. Put your rational, logical mind in hibernation for now and speak from your heart. This is a wonderful transit for going through old letters or photo albums -- memories from the distant past can comfort you now. You may even want to contact a family member you haven't spoken with in a while. Sharing your innermost thoughts with those close to you will feel especially rewarding now. Also, Neptune's connection with Mercury enhances sensitivity and empathy, making this a great time to mend fences.

June 17: Venus trines Saturn
This aspect not only helps stabilize your relationships, but brings support from people who hold positions of authority. Use this time to socialize and advance your personal and business relationships. It seems like everybody loves you now, so take advantage of all the good will!

June 20: Mars enters Gemini
Mars is both a warrior and an advocate. When this planet is placed in such a vocal sign, you and everybody else have plenty to say! This is a wonderful placement for debating the merits of an idea or getting your message out into the world -- as long as you don't get too pushy. If you have an idea to sell, you can be quite persuasive now. To succeed, though, you'll have to know when to back off; otherwise, an energetic discussion can easily turn argumentative, which may sabotage the very thing you're trying to advance.

Enjoy the Sun's transit through Gemini!

AstroLesson: Working with Saturn
Since Saturn ends its retrograde during this solar period (specifically, on June 12), now is a great time to discuss the importance of working with this serious planet!

In your birth chart, Saturn's sign placement shows the themes that require extra effort to achieve success; after all, if you don't mind working hard, you'll do well throughout your life. Astrologers have a saying when referring to Saturn: Rewards are earned, not given!

For example, if Saturn is in Taurus or your second house, be sure to focus on your finances ... but at the same time, don't get so obsessed that you forget how to relax! If Saturn is in Gemini, make sure you're educated enough to where you have the facts when you need them. Just don't feel like you should read every book in the library, earn multiple degrees and know everything there is to know!

Wherever Saturn is located, there is a tendency to go overboard or underachieve. Balance is the key. If you're a responsible person in the areas Saturn influences, people will notice and help you; if you're lazy, people will notice that as well!

Currently, Saturn is transiting through Libra, the sign of relationships. Transiting Saturn shows this period's major theme: Everyone is assessing their relationships, and even countries are trying to figure out who their allies are! With that in mind, you may want to let go of people who no longer contribute in any way to your life. If you do, you'll open yourself up to establishing new, healthy connections.

All in all, this is a terrific time to reach out to others and improve your social life!

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Saturday, May 21

As a former waitress (and very proud of it!) on 'National Waiters and Waitresses Day,' I want to share a tip that I use no matter what kind of service I receive. I always remember that the person preparing and bringing my order to me is a human being, too. I remember the days that I was hauling tray after tray to table after table while my dad was in the hospital and I was worried sick. I remember taking time to refill and refuel my customers with a false smile on my face after I had just heard that my boyfriend had been seeing someone else behind my back. You get it. Your waiters and waitresses have lives and sometimes that they might not be at their best, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't still get the tip that they deserve. So unless you're a waiter or waitress, then here's my tip for you. Place uncooked rice in any natural container (no metal or plastics) and fill to about 70 percent capacity. A glass, ceramic or crystal bowl, or a glass vase will do. For the next thirty days, at the close of each day, take all the accumulated coins that you've received that day and add it to the container of rice. On the 30th day, count up all the change and give ten percent away to a charity or give it all to someone who really needs it, even if the total is less than a dollar. That's all you have to do besides watching and waiting for bigger and better career opportunities to come to you. A word to the wise, though, if you skip a day you have to begin the entire process over again! But this is a daily tip that will have you celebrating your career as quickly as you can! Order up!

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.

Elder's Meditation of the Day-May 21

Elder's Meditation of the Day - May 21

"A vision could put you on a path you don't want to follow."

-- Archie Fire Lame Deer, LAKOTA

There is a saying, "You move toward and become like that which you think about." If we keep thinking about a bad thing, we will move in that direction. If we think about fear in some area of our life, we will probably experience this fear. We move toward and become like that which we think about. If we think about secret things, these secret things will come to pass. Our visions are very powerful. Visions determine our direction, our lives. If you think about lustful things, it's a matter of time before you'll be wrestling with it. We should think about our visions to make sure they include the Great Spirit in every area.

Great Spirit, today, give me Your vision to follow.

"The Kids' Page is designed for children and their parents to learn more about the FBI through age-appropriate games, tips, stories and interactives. We also introduce you to our working dogs and show how FBI special agents and analysts investigate cases." The site has a section for Kindergarten through fifth grade set and then a section for the older group, sixth through twelfth graders. The stories are informative, featuring renowned underworld figures, a missing dinosaur and even a 'Quick Quiz for Amateur Sleuths.' Join a real agent in 'A Day in the Life' as she (yes, girls can be FBI agents!) apprehends a bank robber. The younger ones can disguise Bobby Bureau in preparation for his undercover job. The Mind of Leonardo: The Universal Genius at Work

Much publicity has been given to the fictional novel that has Leonardo da Vinci as a 'co-conspirator.' Today's feature will allow you to see for yourself the works of this 'universal genius.' The Mind of Leonardo is presented by the Institute and Museum of the History of Science in Florence, Italy and is also available for viewing in Italian. You'll be able to view selected features, each accompanied by an explanation of the work and the principles it was meant to portray. One particularly interesting exhibit is Leonardo's self-portrait, the Face of Genius, an example of 'the specular relationship between the anatomical structure, on the one hand, and the expression of the motions of the soul, on the other.' After studying this site, you can see why Leonardo was indeed the epitome of the Renaissance Man, one certainly capable of developing the intrigue recently fictionalized in books and on the screen.

Hi I just got approved for this group. I am an eclectic solitary Pagan. I am a stay at home mom of four kids, and getting married soon to a great man. I am finally starting to feel happy with my life, and decisions. Though the biggest reason I joined this group was my area is lacking in people who share my beliefs in fact it is quite hard to live life in this area out of the "broom closet", but I do I am just not widely open about it. I dont lie either though. I really wanted a few friends I could share my beliefs with, and it appears the net is my only true outlet.

Working With the Gods and Goddesses

Working With the Gods and Goddesses
By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide

Are the gods really interested in what we're up to?
Image © Sylvester Adams/Getty Images

There are literally thousands of different deities out there in the Universe, and which ones you choose to honor will often depend significantly upon what pantheon your spiritual path follows. However, many modern Pagans and Wiccans describe themselves as eclectic, which means they may honor a god of one tradition beside a goddess of another. In some cases, we may choose to ask a deity for assistance in a magical working or in problem solving. Regardless, at some point, you're going to have to sit and sort them all out. If you don't have a specific, written tradition, then how do you know which gods to call upon?

A good way to look at it is to figure out which deity specifically would be interested in your purpose. In other words, what gods might take the time to look into your situation? This is where the concept of appropriate worship comes in handy -- if you can't take the time to get to know the deities, then you probably shouldn't be asking them for favors. So first, figure out your goal. Are you doing a working regarding home and domesticity? Then don't call upon some masculine power deity. What if you're celebrating the end of the harvest season, and the dying of the earth? Then you shouldn't be offering milk and flowers to a spring goddess.

Consider your purpose carefully, before you make offerings or prayers to a particular god or goddess.
Although this is certainly not a comprehensive list of all the gods and their domains, it may help you a bit to get an idea of who is out there, and what sorts of things they may be able to help you with:
Artisanship
For assistance relating to skills, crafts, or handiwork, call upon the Celtic smith god, Lugh.
Chaos
When it comes to matters of discord and upsetting the balance of things, you may want to check in with Loki, the Norse prankster god.
Destruction
If you're doing a working related to destruction, the Celtic war goddess the Morrighan may assist you, but don't trifle with her lightly. A safer bet might be working with Demeter, the Dark Mother of the harvest season.
Fall Harvest
When you celebrate the fall harvest, you may want to take time to honor Herne, the god of the wild hunt, or Osiris, who is often connected with grain and the harvest. Demeter and her daughter, Persephone, are typically connected with the waning part of the year. Pomona is associated with fruit orchards and the bounty of trees in fall. There are also a number of other harvest gods and gods of the vine who may be interested in what you're doing.
Feminine Energy
For workings related to the moon, lunar energy, or the sacred feminine, consider invoking Artemis or Venus.
Fertility
When it comes to fertility, there are plenty of deities out there to ask for assistance. Consider Cernunnos, the wild stag of the forest, or Freya, a goddess of sexual power and energy. There are a number of other fertility gods out there as well, each with their own specific domain.
Home and Marriage
Brighid is a protector of hearth and home, and Juno and Vesta are both patronesses of marriage.
Love and Lust
Aphrodite has long been associated with love and beauty, and so has her counterpart, Venus. Likewise, Eros and Cupid are considered representative of masculine lust. Priapus is a god of raw sexuality, including sexual violence.
Magic
Isis, the mother goddess of Egypt, is often called upon for magical workings, as is Hecate, a goddess of sorcery.
Masculine Energy
Cernunnos is a strong symbol of masculine energy and power, as is Herne, the god of the hunt. Odin and Thor, both Norse gods, are known as powerful, masculine gods.
Motherhood
Isis is a mother goddess on a grand scale, and Juno watches over women in labor.
Prophecy and Divination
Brighid is known as a goddess of prophecy, and so is Cerridwen, with her cauldron of knowledge. Janus, the two-faced god, sees both the past and future.
Underworld
Because of his harvest associations, Osiris is often connected with the underworld. There are a number of other deities of death and dying.
War and Conflict
The Morrighan is not only a goddess of war, but also of sovereignty and loyalty. Athena protects warriors and imparts them with wisdom. Freya and Thor guide fighters in battle.
Wisdom
Thoth was the Egyptian god of wisdom, and Athena and Odin may also be called upon, depending on your purpose.
Seasonal
There are a number of deities associated with the various times of the Wheel of the Year, including the Winter Solstice, Late winter, the Spring Equinox, and the Summer solstice.

This Week's Moonscopes Forecast

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Sat May 21, 2011 6:46 pm (PDT)

This Week's Moonscopes Forecast
For the week of May 22 to May 28
(Missed last week's forecast? Here it is.)

Sunday, Monday: the Moon is in Aquarius
There could be some sticky situations or communications involving friends. Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all in a square aspect (relationship or connection) to the Moon. These planets are in Taurus, the sign that does not readily embrace change, and the Moon is in Aquarius, the sign that lives for change. Opinions, values, and desires could very easily differ and challenge each other. Conflicting ideals could result in stuck or static circumstances, with the only recourse being to agree to disagree.

Tuesday, Wednesday(*v/c-pm), Thursday(v/c): the Moon is in Pisces
Ah, Moon in Pisces - a sweet place to retreat and rest, to reflect and contemplate. The Moon is void-of-course (v/c) for at least half of the time it is in Pisces this lunar month, which means that it is in a resting state for a big part of the middle of this week. Meditation and introspection are ruled by (or associated with) this sign and also by the 12th house (Pisces' home base) in an astrology chart. It would be good to take it easy and to float along as much as you can right now, no matter where Pisces falls in your birth chart.

Friday, Saturday: the Moon is in Aries
This could be quite an active time since Aries doesn't like to sit still - at all. Physical and/or mental movement, but especially physical, are on the agenda for the end of this week. Jupiter and Uranus join this lively and dynamic energy, adding expansion, optimism, and a dose of the unexpected to the scenario. So, put on your track shoes and enjoy!

Check your astrology chart to find which house (section of your chart) has the current Moon sign on the cusp (the beginning edge) & apply Forecast information to that area of your life as well.
For example, the Moon is in Leo and one of the suggestions is to entertain - however Leo is located in the 12th house of your chart, which is an inward energy place...then have a small, quiet gathering. By contrast, if Leo is located in the 1st house of your chart, an outward energy place...have a party! Don't have an astrology chart? Click here .

It is interesting to note when the current Moon is in the same sign as your birth Moon and to see how the flavor of that day carries through the following 30 days.

Current Planet Positions:
Sun - Gemini, until June 22
Mercury - Taurus, until June 3
Venus - Taurus, until June 10
Mars - Taurus, until June 21
Jupiter - Aries, until June 5
Saturn - Libra, until Oct. 6, 2012
Uranus - Aries, until Mar. 6, 2019
(Taurus, May 16, 2018-Nov. 7, 2018)
Neptune - Aquarius, until Feb. 4, 2012
(Pisces, Apr. 5-Aug. 5, 2011)
Pluto - Capricorn, until Nov. 20, 2024

Current Asteroid Positions:
Ceres - Pisces, until Jan. 20, 2012
Pallas - Aquarius, until Feb. 13, 2012
Juno - Virgo, until July 28
Vesta - Aquarius, until Dec. 21
Chiron - Pisces, until Apr. 22, 2018

Current Asteroid Transits:
Ceres - Harvest the core basics of spiritual beliefs or philosophies.
Pallas - A practical application of information is the best approach.
Juno - State clearly what is wanted in a personal partnership.
Vesta - Personal desires are mixed together with personal responsibilities.
Chiron - Transcend wounds and negativity through compassion.

Note: Timeframes for Moon signs, void-of-course periods, and current planet & asteroid positions are noted for Eastern time zone (USA). Please adjust according to your own location. Times are not given if the void-of-course Moon occurs for a very short period or if it occurs during the night (based on same Eastern time zone).

* v/c = Void-of-Course - When the Moon is void-of-course, spend time working on projects already in progress, creative endeavors, or self-improvement. Void-of-course simply means that no planets are aspecting the Moon as it gets ready to change signs. It's best not to start new projects, sign important agreements, or go shopping when the Moon is void-of-course because the result will probably be unsatisfactory in some way.

** Mercury Retrograde - the speed of the planet slows down considerably. Communications, paperwork, electronics, and traffic can become very mixed-up or delayed during this time. A situation will be in the process of changing, so wait until Mercury is direct to finalize anything. In general, maintain a slower, more cautious pace in daily affairs. Always allow at least two days before (to slow down) and after (to resume regular activities) a Mercury retrograde period. Read More about Mercury Retrograde here

Magic by the Stars--Part 2

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Magic by the Stars--Part 2

Mercury

Communication is also the theme of Mercury. By now, word has reached the general public about this speedy little planet, and his reputation is often maligned. Without a clear understanding of what's actually going on, people blame Mercury for everything unpleasant that happens in their lives, whether he is retrograde or not. This excuse is used even by people who say that astrology doesn't work!

Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun, moving quickly to revolve around it every eighty-eight days. The Earth moves slightly more deliberately, but inexorably. We creep up on Mercury in our orbit, coming alongside to overtake it. For a while it looks as though we are neck and neck and then it seems as though, intimidated, Mercury loses speed and reverses direction. It's really an optical illusion, though, because the Earth has just pulled ahead.

Once Mercury starts falling behind in relation to the Earth, it is considered to be retrograde. The word comes from Latin and means "to go back." Its symbol is much like the symbol for a prescription: a capital R with a cross through the tail. An astrological calendar will indicate this time with R which means retrograde--the planet has stopped and is reversing course back through the zodiac. At the moment it starts moving forward again, you will see D (Direct) on the calendar.

This will happen about three times a year (sometimes four, in certain years). Mercury rests for about three weeks each time. Some will say that there is no rest with Mercury the Coyote, the Trickster. Annoyed to be thwarted in his duties, he plays havoc with all communication devices: hard drives crash, software melts, the phone develops static, our cars develop engine trouble, our luggage goes awry at the terminal, and we have major blowups with our families. We don't want to leave on a journey, sign a contract, or make a major decision. Certainly, we need to drive defensively.

People who have Gemini or Virgo strongly in their charts, with either of those two signs ruling the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant should move more cautiously during these times. Mercury plays a major role in their lives (Lady N's note--My Moon is in Gemini, and I can certainly attest to this) . Avoid signing contracts--especially a marriage contract--keep a grip on your budget and an eye on your car, computer, and household appliances. We don't want to redo projects, reopen negotiations, or repair our cars.

Mercury retrograde is not a good time for spell working. If you must do a spell, write down all the words you are going to speak and then review them. You want to say the words correctly so that the spell doesn't boomerang. Take care not to spread yourself too thin. You could easily do two things at once, and that may not be a good thing during an important ritual. Plan all ceremonies carefully. Some say that if you must do a spell during a retrograde period, avoid doing it on Wednesday, which is Mercury's day. Certainly wear Mercury colors of blue and yellow and burn a light and airy incense.

The light of a hundred stars cannot equal the light of the Moon.
