The Slow Climb Up: Energy Healing at a Snail's Pace

Healing takes time. Why is that? Why can't we just wave a magic wand and heal ourself and others?

The parody of the Christian Faith Healer is still a compelling image, even to those of us using Eastern energetic modalities. With my Reiki healing hands, I'd much rather smack someone in the forehead yelling YOU'RE HEALLLLED! than stand around for an hour, sending Reiki healing energy on a weekly basis. (I don't know about you, but when I give a full Reiki session, my arms get tired! And supposedly I'm in shape!)

Real life, however, seems to take things more slowly.

I wish energy healing came with a guarantee of instant gratification, but often it does not. What seems to happen instead is when we apply energy healing to any sort of dysfunction - whether it is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual - time and repeated healings are what really make the difference.

(Isn't it all spiritual, though?)

There must be something in the soul that resists change. We're sick, but we like to remain sick on some level. The healing has to come in and trick us into moving forward. Oh, this little bit of Reiki won't really hurt you, it's saying to the Ego. I'll just remove a little bit of pain here and there. Now...isn't that better?

Through the slow, repetitive process of repeated healings, the Ego gets lulled into complacency and the next thing you know, it's been completely taken over by Spirit!

With all of this, we need to be patient with ourselves and our clients. Healing takes time, and that's okay. Sometimes it waits what seems to be a long time before it all catches up and we make a huge leap in healing.

I had gotten - gross! - plantars warts on my left foot due to some energetic clearing done by a healer. Those darn things were very stubborn and stayed on my foot for something like four years. No amount of wart remover would get rid of them, and no amount of Reiki seemed to help.

I was finally about ready to go to the dermatologist to have them burned off, when suddenly they fell off!

Why, after all those years, did those warts finally flee?

It just must have been their time.

Give yourself time. It can and will get better.

Fw: * Spiritually  Speaking * Emotional Resonance

Subject: * Spiritually Speaking * Emotional Resonance

Emotional Resonance
by Linda Kohanov

excerpted from Riding Between the Worlds with the publisher's permission

When a workshop participant becomes infected by the emotions of a fellow group member, I use the term affect contagion to emphasize that the sadness or anger the first person feels really belongs to someone else. Clairsentience, a heightened form of affect contagion, involves feeling someone else's bodily sensations, usually pain, in your own body. Empathy also involves feeling what others feel, only more consciously. With affect contagion, you're inadvertently infused with someone else's unconscious or incongruent emotions. I now use empathy to specify the act of willingly participating in another person's emotions.

Ambience more specifically relates to the feeling of a place. An emotionally potent event creates lingering impressions. In the most extreme example, the ambience of a house where a murder took place feels noticeably different than the ambience of one where a joyful celebration was held. Horses are extremely sensitive to ambience, which is one explanation for why they spook at nothing. The other major reason stems from affect contagion - emotions coming from other horses or from distressed, incongruent handlers and riders.

With emotional resonance, two people who've experienced similar betrayals or abuses trigger each other, causing one to overreact to and reinforce the other's fear, anger, sadness, or grief. Horses with a history of trauma easily draw out the unresolved emotions and repressed memories of human abuse survivors - which is why such animals make great therapy partners in an EFP setting and wreak havoc in barns where students are encouraged to leave their problems at the gate.

For riding instructors, the most troublesome aspect of emotional resonance stems from its tendency to draw traumatized horses and traumatized people together. A frightened, flighty, dissociative incest survivor should never attempt to rehabilitate a frightened, flighty, dissociative horse, yet such a person will invariably feel at home with this animal. She'll insist on buying him over the calm, quiet teacher horse she really needs.

In her audiobook Advanced Energy Anatomy, Caroline Myss calls this The Law of Magnetic Attraction, using the term to explain why two previously unacquainted alcoholics, or two rape victims who've never met, will accidentally sit next to each other during her workshops, and as the weekend progresses, find out just how much they have in common.

While this phenomenon sometimes results in like-minded people or horses reinforcing old trauma patterns in each other, emotional resonance can serve an important role in healing. Alcoholics Anonymous, Incest Survivors Anonymous, Alanon, and other such programs employ sponsors who've suffered the same abuses or addictions as newcomers. These wounded healers, who now function more effectively, can still tune into the frequency of the original trauma and vibrate sympathetically with those who need their help.

Through emotional resonance, sponsees feel the same sense of being at home with their sponsors that an abuse survivor feels with her abused horse. Yet as an emotionally healthy sponsor vibrates sympathetically with his sponsees, he can actually raise their vibration, so to speak, giving them, in his presence, the experience of the more balanced chord of well-being they'll someday be able to hold on their own.

Merry Meet Robert,

Welcome to the First Annual Pagan Summer Camp presented by PaganDad! OK yes it is a mouthful I know but as you can tell I am really really excited about this project. So I figured I would send out this early email and let you know what all that I have planned.

I guess I should start from the beginning. More precisely where this idea came from. Down here in sunny (and hot) Florida the signs are already going up for the Vacation Bible Schools for allt he different churches. Not sure why I noticed them this year but they sparked a thought, 'Why don't we (us Pagans) have something like this for ourselves?" So one thing leading to another and I made the decision to start this newsletter.

In this five week program I am planning on spending a week on each of the elements and a fifth week on the Goddess and God. I am planning things from crafts to altars to rituals and everything in between. And probably some other things that are outside of these but I think you get the picture. Now as for structure I am not sure whether I am planning one or two emails (or maybe even more) a week. I'm going to play this by ear and see what works best. If you have any preferences just drop me a line and let me know.

Now that hopefully I have piqued your interest, I hope that you share this with all your friends and get them to sign up as well.

Blessed Be!

About Linda & Hawk

Linda Fernandez has a deep reverence for the profound love, truth and beauty in
all that life has to give, teach and inspire. She lives her life with the open
compassion and integrity of an awakened heart--offering herself, in divine
communion, as an empathic channel and guide through which healing, teaching and
transformation can flow through. Her healing sessions focus on returning to the
simplicity of Being, the practical application of consciousness into daily
living and bringing all in 'right' relation and harmony with self and others.
Its about reconnecting, awakening and embracing the truth of who you are--so
that you can begin to embody and radiate your joy, passion and magnificence out
into the world.

Linda is the lineage bearer of both her grandmother’s shamanic traditions as
well as the designated heir to a well-known Cherokee heyoka medicine man. She is
a graduate of New York University’s School of Social Work. She has over 10 years
of experience as a clinical sexologist specializing in sex therapy and is
certified by the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality and the
American Academy of Clinical Sexologists. She is also a member of the American
College of Sexologists. In addition to her healing practice, Linda is co-editor
of Souldish Event Listings, a webzine promoting high frequency culture. She also
volunteers her healing services, in support of the Marie Crosby Fund, for the
affordable healing series and psychic & health fairs at Edgar Cayce's
Association for Research and Enlightenment in New York City.

Walking Hawk grew up under the keen tutelage of wise medicine elders from a
mixture of different nations. Being exposed to the humble ways of the ancestors
gave Walking Hawk the insight to train and reflect on the oneness of Mother
Earth and all who live with her. As a Heyoka medicine man and former chief, he
walks the contrary path with Spirit and lives in compassionate service to the
people. Many people come from all over to attend his healing lodges and
ceremonies. His openness and insight have also brought him to many ceremonies
and gatherings, both open and secret, throughout the nation and abroad.

Salt Decision Ritual

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Salt Decision Ritual

Do you ever have trouble making up your mind? Here’s a spell to help you with
decision making. Set out a small bowl full of salt. Let your hands flow through
the salt until you are calm. Say: “By the crystals of salt, I crystallize my
thoughts, making them clear and concrete.” Think of a decision that you need to
make now. Take a pinch of salt, and think carefully on your choice, weighing
all of the pros and cons. When you are ready to make a decision, say: “I make a
firm decision now.” Toss the salt into the air. Wipe your hands together, and
say: “It is so.” Put the leftover salt aside in a dark cupboard, and bury a
Crystal in the salt for recharging.

Lavender Sweet Water

Sir Hugh Platt's "special sweet water to perfume clothes, in the folding, being
washed." Add a splash to the rinse water or sprinkling shirts and sheets
before ironing and
you will sleep so peacefully! "The lavender has a calming effect."

Ingredients:
100 drops (5 ml) lavender oil
5 drops peppermint oil*
1 1/2 fluid oz. (45 ml) vodka (highest proof available)
20 oz. distilled or still spring water

Blend the essential oils with the vodka in a small glass bowl. Stir well
to amalgamate. Pour water into a large glass bottle. Add oil mixture to
water. Please note: The linen water may be cloudy. This is normal and won't
stain linen. Shake bottle before you use it.

Apuleius, The Golden Ass

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue May 24, 2011 8:43 pm (PDT)

Goddess, we know you by so many names:
Ceres, Mother of the Harvest, you who in the joy
of finding your lost daughter gave a new diet
to our forebears, no longer acorns to eat but
nourishing bread raised in fertile soil; and Venus,
inventor of that clever way of luring us to procreation;
and Artemis, the physician who eases women's birthing pains;
and Proserpine to whom the owl cries in the night.
We have many names for all of you, and all
are your true names. We have many rituals
for you, and all are your true rituals.
There is no end to you, Goddess, heaven's queen.
~Apuleius, The Golden Ass

On this day in ancient Rome, a ritual was celebrated to beg protection for the
sprouting grain. Subject at this stage in its growth to mildew and other
diseases that could devastate the crop, the grain was vulnerable - and so were
the people who depended on it. Propitiatory sacrifices and prayers that the
Goddess protect her children were part of this festival, called the Robigalia.
The Goddess, who could turn a deaf ear to her children's cries had to be
encouraged to show her more beneficent side.

There is no one way to honor the feminine, just as there is no one name that
defines all aspects of the goddess. Over and over, ancient writers remind us of
her multiplicity - the many names under which people have invoked her, the many
images they have had of her, the innumerable stories they have told of her. None
is more or less true than another. Finding her means being aware, in every
moment, of her varying and dynamic powers.

Intrusion...People who invade your sacred space?

Intrusion...People who invade your sacred space?

Have you ever tried to find a nice quiet spot to do your magic, ritual or just a
spot you can sit relax and meditate and it seems like no matter where you go
people just find you! You can be in a movie theater with 100 empty seats and
they have to sit right next to you being annoying. Sometimes it gets more
frustration when you just can't find that time for yourself, a nice quiet sacred
space for just you and your magick, what do you do to create that space and
where to you go when you don't have access to it where you live?
