Depression

Can anyone please send me ideas, spells, remedies, aromatherapies, anything that helps ease the effects of depression. Or helps motivate to move out of depressed states. I have been dealing with it for quite some time and there are people close to me as well who are struggling. It seems like there are so many actually of my friends and family who are down at this time, it's kinda scary. Anyway, would just like to have some ideas on things that can be done through magic and spirit to help.
Thanks,
Chryse

Once that it's been diagnosed NOT as clinical depression.......
This is how I manage. I put aside 20 minutes a day to whine, wail, and
wallow in self-pity to whatever extreme. "I really screwed that up. I'm
worthless. I hate me." - the whole litany. Once the timer goes off (and I
had to have a timer, at first), I would not allow myself to focus on any
negative energy I was either putting out or I was perceiving I was
receiving. I would write down notes to save for the next day's
'waaaaaaaahhhhh' session. I put a small smile on my face (people react
better if they think you are smiling at them) whether I feel it or not. I
force myself to be courteous, polite and 'upbeat' - if only in superficial
conversation. I allow myself to think things like "I hate people",
"Really? I mean, really?", "The halitosis would disappear if he were dead"
- briefly, and examine the motivation behind the need to do so. The
conclusion is written down for the next 'waaaaaaahhhhh' session.
I even did the Stuart Smalley (from Saturday Night Live) monologue in the
mirror. It felt ludicrous, but after a while that inner child starts
hearing the repetition and starts to believe.
Remember that some folk live to be miserable. It brings them joy.

very well spoken. another thing that helps me is to find someone that needs help and reguardless how you feel or your situation, i try to empathize with what the person is going through and help that person not expecting anything in return for myself but happiness for the other person. it helps my happiness when i know i can bring some joy and peace to another whether i think they deserve it or not. its no up to me to figure that one out. and meditation. deep meditation. becoming one with my depression or problems at that time. not letting it control me just knowing its here now im with it and it too shall pass. blessed be to all.

step one: acknowledge you are feeling depressed.
step two: identify causes
step three: imagine the most outlandish resolutions.
step four: put aside happy time. i go to youtube for this. i have a few
songs that get me out of the fink.
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=yJ_C6OJ6bXU& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that's one, a mini mix of a bunch of songs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=YHcFgOezF9g& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that's one i've loved since i first heard it on the radio
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=e_eyeD4Kxtk& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that helps me pick myself out of the fink
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=7cLQswWnQ6E& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that is ridiculously catchy
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=598IdFlOXcQ& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that is too cute, and only 23 seconds long
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=7iS4LDIbgi0& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that makes me dance till i'm out of breath
http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=L8h-0dU7Yc4& p=3043EECB2B67CE 80
that got a minivan pack with people singing along..... you know it's good.
that's my therapy. you can look at happy things, light a happy colored
candle, sniff peppermint, sit in the sun for 10 minutes, try to imagine what
goes on in the mind of a frog, try to imagine what would happen if someone
really did have the mind of a frog......
be creative, and a little irreverent. stick out your tongue, make funny
faces, make yourself laugh. read a kids jokebook. <i've read through 1001
jokes for kids, 1001 more jokes for kids, still 1001 more jokes for kids>
read the comics, watch kids play. watch butterflies do what they do.
I've been there. you can find a way out. smile at yourself everyday in the
mirror. write a positive affirmation (You are Loved, Loving, and oh
so Lovable was my mom's favorite) on the bathroom mirror in sharpie,
eyeliner, crayon, whatever is handy. repeat it to yourself every day.
eventually, it won't be so pretend, and it will become real. you will have
driven yourself out of the rut you were in.
Blessed Be, Deardre

Goddess of The Day: Sulis Festival at Bath (England)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu May 26, 2011 7:53 pm (PDT)
Goddess of The Day: Sulis
Festival at Bath (England)
Themes: Water; Healing; Sun; Blessings; Wishes; Community; Offerings
Symbols: Water; Wheat Cakes; Fire
About Sulis: The Celtic Goddess Sulis oversees all sacred wells and springs,
which give healing and other blessings to those who pray at them. She also has
associations with the sun, which explains the ever-burning fires in her temples.
To Do Today: One hundred miles outside London, Sulis's ancient natural springs
lie as they did for over 7,000 years until they were discovered by the Romans,
who used them for ritual, wish magic, socialization, and healing. The Festival
at Bath revels in this region's history, especially Sulis's hot springs, which
continue to bring thousands of visitors here annua xxx lly, few of whom know
that the springs are 10,000 years old and part of Sulis's spirit. To my mind
this equates with enjoying time in a hot tub or sauna (perhaps you can take part
of the day at a local spa).
If a spa isn't possible, let your bathroom get really steamy from a hot-water
shower, then sit inside for a while absorbing Sulis's cleansing power into your
pores. Release your tensions and dis-ease to her. Maybe light a candle to
represent Sulis's presence with you, and meditate as you relax. Remember, the
bathroom is one of the few places you can be assured of a private moment with
the Goddess, so take advantage of it!

Ancestor Day Ceremony
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu May 26, 2011 7:54 pm (PDT)
Ancestor Day Ceremony
When one thinks of honoring the ancestors, Samhain and the Days of the Dead
are what most often come to mind. However, the veil is also thin at this
time—at the opposite spoke of the wheel of the year. That is, many places
celebrate Memorial Day at the end of May. And in fact, this is a perfect time
to create an Ancestor Day. Further, as Wednesday is good for psychic
connection, today is a perfect day for an Ancestor Day ceremony. Cover a table
with a purple cloth. Arrange several purple and white candles. Burn a
combination of mugwort and sandalwood. Arrange on your altar pictures of your
ancestors or items that were handed down to you over the years. Make offerings
of favorite food and drink. Meditate at the altar. Communicate with your
ancestors. Engage them in conversation. Thank them for the assistance they have
given you over the years. And ask them if there is anything that you can do for
them.
.
Think of today as a spiritual family reunion. Let the good memories take
precedence, and find ways of mutual forgiveness for situations that were
hurtful. Celebrate your positive connections to your roots. Use the foundation
of family as a starting point for positive changes you wish to make in your
life.

Strength and Justice Day Spell
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu May 26, 2011 7:55 pm (PDT)
Strength and Justice Day Spell
You are feeling empowered today to take on challenges and work on diminishing
anguish, for instance, those people at work or school who cause you stress. Now
is the time to deal with this, and to address any unnecessary imbalances in
your life. Start with some simple Thursday visualizations. If you see
"difficult" people in your life today, look at them and visualize their
physical body being spiralled away from you. Picture their image fading from
your mind. If you will not see the troublesome person today, do this
visualization anyway. Just remember you do not to wish them any harm. You
simply want them out of your personal space. If you find they are verbally
intimidating you, imagine yourself holding a mirror to them. In this
visualization, you see their negative energy bouncing back to them and away
from your own impenetrable, invisible shield.

application. Repeat as needed until you see or feel an improvement.

~Egyptian Prayer To Isis Eighteenth Dynasty 1567-1320 BCE
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu May 26, 2011 7:57 pm (PDT)
It was the Goddess who protected the God,
who searched for him without tiring,
who traveled the world lamenting
who did not rest until she found him
who made shade for him with her bright wings
who breathed life back into him,
who revived hid passion, who received his seed
who bore the child, who raised the child,
the Goddess, alone, did all this.
~Egyptian Prayer To Isis
Eighteenth Dynasty 1567-1320 BCE
At times in our lives, we must confront loneliness. Others may surround us, even
press in upon us, but in our souls we are lonely. It feels like a kind of
starvation, as though some vital food is missing. During such times we can feel
distant from our spiritual sources as well as from other people. It can seem as
though the Goddess has abandoned us, cast us adrift without her guidance,
Ancient religions depict the Goddess, too, going through such stark periods of
needy solitude.Yet, like Isis in the prayer above, the Goddess survives and
endures. Myths of the Goddess not only reveal images of nature and the Universal
order. They are also stories that help us understand the happenings in our own
lives. When Isis loses her beloved brother-husband Osiris, but finds and
restores him to life, she exemplifies the transition between periods of loss and
those of rebirth within our own human lives.
