An article which may be of interest:

http://www.news.com.au/national/hundreds-attend-faith-healing-schools-linked-to-fundamentalist-bethal-church/story-e6frfkvr-1226064453167

A WAVE of "supernatural" schools that claim to teach people how to heal the sick and even raise the dead are netting tens of thousands of dollars for fundamentalist Christian church coffers.

Hundreds of people across southeast Queensland flock to the courses every week, paying up to $720 to learn "faith healing" practices that allegedly trigger miraculous recoveries from broken bones, infertility and even cancer .....

Alchemy or clever calligraphy?

Voynich manuscript â€" Alchemy or clever calligraphy? (c/o Larry Rise
on FB Pagan)
http://www.riseearth.com/2011/05/alien-book-voynich-manuscript-will-
we.html

Larry posted this link on facebook, and the link above also has an
interesting YouTube video. I love old books and have professional
fascination with Typography. Add into the mix Alchemy and
Cryptography and have you something almost as interesting as Enochian
magick.

Want to know how could someone create a mysterious and yet plausible
manuscript? Armed with nothing other than a quill and piece of
cardboard, Senior Lecturer at Keele University, Gordon Rugg
demonstrates how one can go about creating a document just like
Voynich manuscript.

For a book claimed to be indecipherable it's interesting to read
following in feedback section of comments from the Italian version of
clip:
http://youtu.be/HU00vaqYiTo

Manuscript Voynich = !
The manuscript is writen and encrypted in the Czech language. Author
manuscript czech alchemist 15th century JOHN of LAZY.
Manuscript can not resolve the English language. Contain nothing
mysterious, alchemical many only description of operations. I have
compiled many pages of the manuscript. Pictures are only symbolic.
Real name = GOLD MUD (1454).
I translated 50 pages of the manuscript.

well i have download the pdf version of this book and i figured it
out that there are patterns wich have deep meaning with the number
12. The astrological cirlcles that clearly have zodiac sings or
figures that represent most signs in the center, also there are 12
ladies with different names...and in my opinion this book is about
the fertilitation of plants and the best periods of the year, when
there are supposed to grow. The roots of some plants are compared..

Absolutely Tim - that's what I was thinking - what does it say?
Thanks for the interesting post about something that has now got my curiosity going...

Given that the penalty for heresy at the time was boiling in oil or being burned at the stake was common at the time, it isn't surprising that an Alchemist would create a cypher to disguise his work. The key may well have been lost or destroyed, or the significance of it never being realised. Leonardo di ser Piero mastered mirror script as a protection against casual scrutiny of his work - imagine what lengths he may have gone to had he been threatened with torture and death.

I played around with letter-substitution codes when I was younger - and ever wrote a carefully aged manuscript with lemon juice as my first will and testament, along with a pirate map to locate my treasure... if only I had buried a full set of 1977 Star Wars action figures - I could have retired now!

This seems authentic to me - written by someone who had cause to be afraid. No aliens involved, but probably nothing more or less important than an individual's Book of Shadows would be today
