My grandfather was a veitnam vet. He passed away when I was 2 and I'm 27 now but still I remember him and honor him. They buried him with the American flag and I've seen all him purple heart metals. A true inspiration to my family.
My cousin fought in Iraq but was killed at the local military base he was staying at. He went for a run at 5am and was found dead with a shot to the head and naked in a ditch. They found the guys who did it to him but he is still an inspiration to me also. He was only 22 years old. So, honor those you love and thank those for fighting for us.
Xoxoxo,
Samantha

Goddess of The Day: Sisina Flores de Mayo (Philippines)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Goddess of The Day: Sisina
Flores de Mayo (Philippines)
Themes: Offering; Prayer; Love; Devotion; Home; Relationships
Symbols: Spring/May-Blossoming Flowers
About Sisina: This Filipino Goddess oversees the realms of orderliness, beauty,
and love. Traditionally, she protects marriages against discord, but she may
also be called upon to settle inner turmoil within your soul and restore
self-love.
To Do Today: People in the Philippines say goodbye to May with bouquets, flower
offerings, and an array of sweet foods to honor the month's sweetness and
beauty. Sometimes they ask Sisina to join the festivities by setting a place
for her at the table.
This particular custom appears in several other cultures and it is a simple,
lovely way of honoring the goddess. Just leave a plate with a fresh flower on
your dinner table. This draws Sisina's presence, love, and peaceful nature to
your home and family relationships. If you wish, also leave an offering of
sweet bread or fruity wine in a special spot to thank her.
As you go about your normal routine today, take time to enjoy any flowers you
see, and be very considerate of the special people in your life. Sisina will
see the effort and continue blessing those relationships with harmony.

Good Health Apple Spell Incense of the day: Gardenia
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Good Health Apple Spell
Incense of the day: Gardenia
The end of May brings the popular British festival of Oak Apple Day. The
festival celebrates the end of Oliver Cromwellâs dictatorship and the return of
the reign of King Charles II in 1660, making England whole again. You can use
the powers of oak and apple to heal you completely. Buy a red or green square
of cloth and place a crushed oak leaf and a bit of apple peel in it. Tie the
bundle shut with contrasting red and green threads. As you tie, say:
I call upon the strength of oak.
I call upon the energy of apple.
May I be healed of illness, disease, and injury.
May I grow healthier and wiser every day.
With harm to none,
So mote it be.
Carry the bundle with you for as long as you need it. When you are finished,
untie the bag and bury the leaf and peel. Thank oak and apple for their help.

Devi Mahatmyam, Indian Song To The Goddess
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Mon May 30, 2011 7:42 pm (PDT)
If a mountain could shine like the sun,
if its brilliance could penetrate the world's dark quarters,
if all the worlds joined together into this brilliance
and if this brilliance became a woman:
That would be a Goddess. Devi: The Goddess.
I am that Goddess. I am the force of the universe
in the shape of a woman. Nothing exists
that is not me, and nothing but me exists.
All women are but manifestations of me.
And I am the manifestation of all women.
And all women praise me thus: Devi, eternal
embodiment of the universal feminine,
you who create the world and sustain it,
we wreathe you with flowers and incense,
and we beg you to bring us virtue and richness.
~Devi Mahatmyam, Indian Song To The Goddess
Who knows what the Goddess means? She has meant different things in different
eras, in different cultures, to different people. She has been anger and rage as
well as peace and fruitfulness. She is the totality of experience of each woman.
And she is the divine, experienced in the form of and through the bodies of
women. She cannot be limited to a single form, nor contained in a single body.
She is more comprehensive than we can imagine. In meditating upon her vastness,
we encounter it within ourselves.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip....Cold or Virus
If you are not feeling well or fighting a cold or virus there are a few
essential oil combinations that are useful
to use in a bath.
Lavender and Tea Tree
Lavender and Eucalyptus
Ravansara and Tea Tree (Some say this is the best)
3 drops of each oil (6 drops total per bath) then go straight to bed. Chances
are whatever you were fighting will never materialize.

What's Happening Today:
tella Maris - Star of the Sea - Feast of the Queen of Heaven - Originally a
festival of Isis, as matron of sailors, and Queen of Heaven. One hundred and ten
Roman women celebrated with a feast at which they offered Juno and Diana seats
at the table and special breads.
Stella Maris literally means âStar of the Sea.â This name was given to the
Virgin Mary by early church fathers but the title first belonged to Isis,
Ishtar, Aphrodite, and Venus. Mari, of course, is one of the most ancient names
of the Goddess. It means Mother Sea, and she was often seen dressed in a blue
robe edged with pearly foam. Her star was sometimes identified as Venus or
Sirius/Sothis and sometimes as the Pleiades. She is sister to the Afro-Caribbean
orishas Yemaya of the Seven Petticoats (or seven waves) and Iamanja, âHoly Queen
Sea.â
This image is inspired by her depiction on a contemporary Spanish Catholic
prayer card, where She is not identified as Mary, but rather as âLa Diosa del
Marâ â" Goddess of the Sea.
Frances Toor writes about attending the festa of Stella Maris at Camogli in
Portofino. The name of the town derives from casa delle mogli (home of the
wives) because the husbands were sailors and never home. The ancient Abbey of
San Niccolo de Capodimonte contains a painting of the Madonna Stella Maris as
she appeared to two sailors in a storm who prayed to her for protection. The
festa opened with the oldest fisherman bringing the Madonna a bouquet of
flowers. The harbor was filled with boats decorated with flags, branches and
flowers. Boat races were held in the afternoon after a Mass and at night the sea
was covering with floating boxes of all colors, enclosing lights. The festa
concluded with a fireworks show over the water. Toor, Frances, Festivals and
Folkways of Italy, Crown 1953
Flowers of May - The conclusion of the month of May, during which Catholics
honor the goddess Mary. In the Philippines, people celebrate all month-long,
bringing bouquets and garlands to churches and electing pretty girls as festival
queens and honoring them as they process through the streets surrounded by page
boys and flower girls by chanting and singing Hail Marys. The month culminates
in a day of torchlight parades, open houses, games and elaborate banquets.
Rufus, Anneli, The World Holiday Book, Harper San Francisco 1994
Buddhism: Triple Blessing of the God Buddha - observed on this day by Theravada
Buddhists. To celebrate the God's birth, enlightenment, and passage into
nirvana, shrines and houses are decorated with flowers and special prayer flags.
Incense, flowers, and rice are offered as sacrifices. The Triple Blessing often
lasts for three consecutive days.
Greek: The last day of each month is sacred to the Goddess Hekate.

DailyOM - Sometimes a Loss Can Be a Gain
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Emptiness Becomes Openness
Sometimes a Loss Can Be a Gain
While it is always important to honor what weâve lost, sometimes a loss can also
represent a chance for a new beginning.
When we lose anything that we cherish, the sense of emptiness we are left behind
with can be overwhelming. A space that was filled, whether in our lives or our
hearts, is now a void, and the feelings of pain, loss, and separation can
sometimes be difficult to bear. While it is always important to honor what weâve
lost, sometimes a loss can also represent a chance for a new beginning. When we
are ready, the void left by a relationship, a job, or a dream can then be viewed
as open space that can be filled with something new: new experiences, new
knowledge, new job opportunities, new dreams, new people, and new ways to grow.
There are many ways to weave the threads of loss into a blessing. If youâve lost
a job or ended a relationship, your first thoughts may revolve around filling
the void with a similar job or the same kind of relationship. Try not to rush
into anything just to fill up the emptiness. The loss of a job can free you up
to explore new opportunities, especially if youâve outgrown the old one.
Likewise, the loss of a relationship can give you a chance to rediscover your
own interests, explore new passions, and meet different people.
If seeking the good in what seems like a bad situation makes you feel
uncomfortable, then try to remember that you are not devaluing what youâve lost
or replacing it cold-heartedly. You are surrendering to the fact that, in life,
we sometimes have to let go and allow for what is new to enter into the open
spaces created by our losses. In doing so, you are honoring what has left you
and welcoming the new into your life with open space, an open mind, and an open
heart.
