Follow the magic in your heart. It is the inspiration for your life. ~Adèle Basheer

Throughout the rest of this Year and all of 2011..

May you always make the right moves.

May your cup runneth over with love.

May you always find shelter from any storm.

May you remain good looking and looking good!

May you find the perfect friends to make you smile.

May you find perfect balance in the company you keep.

May you have as much fun as you can before someone makes you stop.

May the worst thing that happens to you come in slobbery pink and furry tan.

May you manage to make time for siesta.

May all the new folks you meet be interesting and kind.

May your accessories always harmonize with your natural beauty!

Should your mouth be bigger than your stomach, may you have a chewing good time!

May you always know when to walk away and know when to run.

And may your friends always bring you joy!

MAY YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR
FILLED WITH LOVE, HAPPINESS, AND HOPE.

=

Ithaka

Ithaka

As you set out in search of Ithaka
Pray that your journey be long,
full of adventure,
full of awakenings,
Do not fear the monsters of old...
You will not meet them in your travels
if your thoughts are exalted and remain high,
if authentic passions stir your mind, body and spirit.
You will not encounter fearful monsters
if you do not carry them within your soul,
if your soul does not set them up in front of you.
Constantine Peter Cavafy

At the funeral of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, many of us heard for the first time the poem "Ithaka," written in 1911 by the Geek poet C. P. Cavafy. This exquisite song of encouragement to travelers setting out on a voyage of self-discovery is often read as an elegy. But I believe "Ithaka" is even more powerful when it becomes a personal affirmation of our Real Life journey.

Ithaka was the beloved island home of the legendary Greek hero, Odysseus. After playing a leading role in the Trojan War, Odysseus roamed the world for ten years, having adventures, meeting challenges, and learning lessons that profoundly changed him. Today an odyssey means a long, often exhausting, exhilarating and/or excruciating transformative journey.

The search for authenticity is our personal odyssey. As we move through our daily rounds on the Simple Abundance path as daughters, friends, lovers, wives, mothers, and artists of the everyday--what we are really seeking is the Ultimate Reality. We are seeking Ithaka.

Over the last fifty years, there have been several fine translations of Cavafy's poem, but for me, they've always seemed as if they had been written for men. This is not too surprising, as they were all translated by men. However, since "Ithaka" has become an emotional touchstone for me, a poem I find myself meditating on a great deal, I was inspired to create a personal translation/adaptation of Cavafy's classic for women:

Pray that your journey be long,
full of many summer mornings
when with much pleasure and much joy
you anchor in harbors never seen before;
Browse through Phoenician markets,
to purchase exquisite treasures--
mother of pearl and coral, ebony and amber
and sensual perfumes of all kinds--
as much as you desire.
Visit many Egyptian cities, content
to sit at the feet of sages, eager
and open to receive learning.

Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Your arrival there is your destiny.
But do not hurry the journey at all; be patient.
Better that it lasts for many years--
longer than you can even imagine.
So that finally, when you reach this
sacred isle, you will be a wise woman,
abundantly fulfilled by all you have gained along the way;
no longer expecting Ithaka to make you wealthy,
no longer needing Ithaka to make you rich.

Ithaka offered you the profound journey,
the chance to discover the woman you have always been.
Without Ithaka as your inspiration, you
never would have set out in search of Wholeness.

And should you find her poor, Ithaka did not deceive you.
Authentic as you have become, full of wisdom,
beauty and grace, enriched and enlightened by all you have experienced
You will finally understand what all of life's Ithakas truly mean.

Random Tidbits

RANDOM TIDBITS

The early Roman calendar designated March 1 as the new year.
The calendar had just ten months, beginning with March.
September through December, our ninth through twelfth months,
were originally positioned as the seventh through tenth
months (septem is Latin for "seven," octo is "eight," novem
is "nine," and decem is "ten."

***

The month of January did not even exist until around 700
B.C., when the second king of Rome, Numa Pontilius, added
the months of January and February.

***

The new year was moved from March to January in Rome in
153 B.C. because that was the beginning of the civil year,
the month that the two newly elected Roman consulsâ€"the
highest officials in the Roman republicâ€"began their one-
year tenure.
***

In 46 B.C. Julius Caesar introduced a new, solar-based
calendar that was a vast improvement on the ancient Roman
calendar. The Julian calendar decreed that the new year
would occur with January 1, and within the Roman world,
January 1 became the consistently observed start of the
new year.

***

In medieval Europe, however, the celebrations accompanying
the new year were considered pagan and unchristian like,
and in 567 the Council of Tours abolished January 1 as the
beginning of the year. At various times and in various
places throughout medieval Christian Europe, the new year
was celebrated on Dec. 25, the birth of Jesus; March 1;
March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation; and Easter.

***

In 1582, the Gregorian calendar reform restored January 1
as new year's day. Although most Catholic countries adopted
the Gregorian calendar almost immediately, it was only
gradually adopted among Protestant countries.

prosperity spells

Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:20 pm (PST)

So all week I have been doing positive thinking and visualization and a
couple of prosperity spells including the charm that Lady Nightshayde posted
(thank you) This is a slow time of year for my business and it was a pretty
good year but I am flat broke right now or really close to it. (I spent too
much for the holidays) So out of the blue I was accepted for a credit card.
I know it won't be much of a credit line but I was wondering if you think
this is part of my spells coming true? I've never been great with credit
cards so I try not to use them. This would definitely come in handy in a
couple of weeks when I'm due to go to a convention to cover my hotel
expenses. I'm curious though is it part of my spell coming true? I haven't
asked for cards I have been thinking positive about my business etc. What do
you think?

How to Get Even!

How To Get Even!

Here are several ways to reall get even with someone:

GARAGE SALE: Place an ad in the classified section of your local
newspaper advertising a GIGANTIC Garage Sale listing the address of
your victim. Advertise televisions, camcorder, vintage automobile,
antiques, etc. Sale begins at 6:00 a.m. all items in the backyard,
Just come around back and Come early!

X-RAYS AT AIRPORTS: Purchase a large adult bedroom toy. Wrap it in a
large amount of tin foil. Secretly hide it in a piece of the victims
carry on luggage. As it goes through the airport x-ray machine the
contents of the device will be shielded by the tin foil and will be
unwrapped and inspected by airport security officials an absolute
classic . . .

OIL SPOT: At night pour used oil underneath the victims car while
parked in the driveway. Pour enough that will be alarming. Continue
to do this each night. The subject will spend great deals of money
trying to get the oil leak repaired time and time again. I have even
heard of a person buying a new car after the repeated attempts at
repair. Imagine their surprise when that new car starts leaking too.

PAPER MONEY: Write a sexually oriented solicitation message,
victim's name and phone number (inviting a phone call) on the edge
of several pieces of paper money before spending them. The victim
will receive many eye popping inquiries another favorite . . .

FAX MACHINES: Write whatever you wish on 9 pages of 8 1/2 by 11 inch
paper and tape them together (end to end). Dial the victim's fax
number and start sending the pages through. After page two has been
transmitted, tape the top of page 1 to the bottom of page 9 making a
continuous loop. The document will continue to cycle until the
victim's fax machine has run out of paper. Be sure and disable your
phone number from being printed on the fax and also disable caller
I.D. This prank is great to get even with a business or individual
who has somehow cheated you. This can have same results as OIL SPOT.

Re: how do i find out if theres a curse on my family

MM Angelsvoice,

My feeling is that you are over burdening yourself with needless worry. All
three of my children were born in June, and all were fine, as were my
pregnancies and deliveries. Having lost my father as a child, and my mother
while pregnant with my second child, and having lost many other family
members in between, it would have been easy to get into panic mode. But I
believe our 'comings' and 'goings' (births and deaths) are part of our
karmic path planned by our souls before incarnating, such that outside
events or the doings or incidents of others do not affect them. To give
examples in my own life, while pregnant with my first son I was in an
accident that should have killed me 7 times over (7 factors that each,
alone, should have killed me, never mind the convergence of them), and I
walked away with only minor injuries and my son was fine. On the other
hand, a good friend literally dropped dead at age 43 or so while walking
home from three houses away, with no history of heart trouble or other
medical conditions to make such a thing likely. I was not meant to go
during the period the accident occured, so I didn't in spite of all the
external factors that 'should have' caused me to. Whereas Sheila was meant
to go at that time, and with no accident or cancer or other cause 'handy',
her spirit simply left without one.

Your worry leads to stress, and stress leads to illness and other problems.
Your very fear and worry could conceivably bring about the very misfortunes
(or lesser degrees thereof) that you're worrying about. Your baby is a soul
that chose to incarnate, at a particular time, via the vehicle of a
particular mother (you), into a particular family or situation that you and
yours comprise, in order to grow through the karmic lessons he/she feels
necessary. Trust him/her, and give him/her love and support and positive
'vibes', not the negative ones of worry. Worry is a waste. If something
bad is going to happen, you've added to it because you've lived it all this
time before its actual occurrence by worrying about and fearing it. If
something good is going to happen, you've put yourself (and baby, in this
case) through stress and unhappiness that never needed to occur. As thought
and belief create manifestation, we need to focus our thoughts on what we
want to occur, in order to attract like energies that lead to its coming
about. Unfortunately, the converse is also true, so do a cleansing, a
cutting of psychic energy from this belief you seem to have about a family
curse and the fears you're expressing, for both your sake and your wee
one's.

BB,
Miki

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, as they say.

Not everything happens because it was predestined or because there's some
dire meaning behind it. That's why we're given free will and the freedom to
choose our actions. The best I could suggest to you is that if you're
worried about these things, to cleanse your home and work protective magic
on behalf of your family *combined with common sense and realistic
applications.* Not all the spells in the world will prevent an early death
if you don't do common sense things like eat right, take medications you
need to live, get regularly seen by a doctor, baby proof the house (we just
did this because Dee's got a two month old son...they'll put ANYTHING they
can reach in their mouths and their fingers fit in the damnedest places).

I could think that I'm cursed; after all, in 2006 I was walking unassisted
and now I'm in a wheelchair, never to walk again. I have so many rare
genetic issues that when I go to a doctor, they bring their students in to
witness the case. Sometimes I don't even get treated for what I came in
for! Or...I could look at my rich lore and history and see that if we're
made in the images of the gods, then they too --- and the lore supports this
--- were sometimes blighted or deformed or afflicted with disease or mental
illness. I could accept these things as gifts, ways to learn about the
world and ways to challenge myself to live better and to enjoy what I have.

The choice is up to you.

In the UK there is a place called Wicca Moon - http://wiccamoon.org.uk/
I just put on hold a gorgeous circlet that was amazing. There are no pictures on the website, but contact Shirlee as I know she has a lot of them in the shop right now. They are all unique and this place carries amazing stuff I have never seen anywhere else plus a lot of handmade stuff.

In February my husband and I will be renewing our vows in combination with our Imbolc ceremony. I would like to get a circlet to wear, it doesn't have to be pagan oriented. Does anyone know of a reliable site I can visit? I hate buying something from a place I never heard of even if they do show awesome stuff :)

Any help is appreicated.

You could just make your own, as they're relatively simple. I start with
large brass macrame hoops, fitted to the person's head size, and then choose
a variety of feathers, silk flowers, and other symbols meaningful to the
time of year at which the ceremony is occurring.

Our Samhain mask for the God was based off a simple Mardi Gras mask print
and took just minutes to assemble.

INTRODUCTION TO ALCHEMICAL PHILOSOPHY:
The Emerald Tablet

OPEN EVENT: 4:30 PM

The method of science, the aim of religion.

Alchemy is, in some ways, the definitive hermetic art. The traditional alchemist is a spiritual scientist, one who investigates the laws of the material world to further understand and develop the soul.

To the average person the terms, language, and symbolism used by the alchemist can be confusing and down right misleading.

Join Frater Marius for an 'Alchemy 101' class in which the terms, methods, and basic philosophy of western alchemy will be presented and explained. With a firm foundation, further practices in spiritual and physical alchemy can then be pursued.

To RSVP for this event and receive directions,
please email
