Bright Arrow
Arousing, swirling, teaching
Direct my words and
Focus my art
To resonate your will

You inspire.
Most sacred Brigid
Sudden flame
Shaping, melding, purifying,
Forge my hands and
Guide my heart
To do your bidding

Most honored Brigid
Living light,
Calming, soothing, restoring,

Let The Sun Return

Winter may still own the land, but there are signs that we are moving closer to spring. Daylight lingers a little longer in the evening, and some early snow crocuses begin to bloom about now. The ancient belief is that the Sun should be encouraged to return at this time of year through rituals and spells. Here is one method. After dusk has turned to night, light a white taper candle. Open your front door and step outside. Whisper these words,
"Candle burn, Sun return."
The candle flame represents the Sun illuminating the darkness of winter. Now walk through your home carrying the candle; try not to let the flame go out. Visualize each room energized by the Sun's warmth. Place the candle on a table or altar. End this ritual by scrying as you gaze into the flame. What do you see?

New Moon Spring Spell

Spring is the season of new life, beginnings, and growth. So too, the New Moon is a time of renewal and rebirth; it represents the Maiden goddess. This is an auspicious time to start projects, till gardens, and otherwise begin things that will take a while to reach fruition. The Moonflower (Ipomoea alba) vine grows up to fifteen feet high. Its fragrant white flowers bloom at night, attracting moths. This plant manifests lunar energies and makes an ideal centerpiece for a Moon garden of white, night-blooming plants.
For the best results, soak Moonflower seeds overnight in a bowl of water left where moonlight can shine on it. Cultivate soil to 1/2-inch depth, sow seeds, and cover loosely. Pour the bowl of water over them. Then say:
Maiden of the silver Moon,
Show your flower face here soon.
Let them grow so swift and high,
Like a ladder to the sky.
Perfume from your palace fair
Hangs in sultry evening air.
When the owls begin to sing,
Bring white moths upon the wing.
Goddess, gloriously bright,
Bless me now by New Moon light.
Keep the soil moist until your flowers sprout. Use your Moonflowers as a focus for lunar work throughout the growing season.
