I'm sorry to hear that it was definitely stolen and, worse, by someone you
know/trust well enough to have in your home and bathroom. I do hope you
recover it. I know how awful it is to lose things with sentimental value,
as my home was burglarised many years ago and all my jewellery from both
sides of my family was stolen (and never recovered).

If you haven't already, you should also report it stolen to the police.
Many pawn shops are required to turn over copies of pawn tickets to local
law enforcement for comparison against stolen items. Usually weekly.

Apple Inc co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, counted among the greatest American CEOs of his generation, died on Wednesday at the age of 56, after a years-long and highly public battle with cancer and other health issues.

Jobs' death was announced by Apple in a statement late on Wednesday. The Apple.com homepage featured a black-and-white picture of him with the words "Steve Jobs, 1955-2011."

The Silicon Valley icon who gave the world the iPod and the iPhone had resigned as CEO of the world's largest technology corporation in August, handing the reins to current chief executive Tim Cook.

A survivor of a rare form of pancreatic cancer, he was deemed the heart and soul of a company that rivals Exxon Mobil as the most valuable in America.
"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve," Apple said in a statement announcing Jobs' passing.

"His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."
Job's health had been a controversial topic for years. His battle with cancer had been a deep concern to Apple fans, investors and the company's board alike. In past years, even board members have confided to friends their concern that Jobs, in his quest for privacy, wasn't being forthcoming enough with directors about the true condition of his health.

Now, despite investor confidence in Cook, who has stood in for his boss during three leaves of absence, there remain concerns about whether the company would stay a creative force to be reckoned with beyond the next year or so without its founder and visionary at the helm.

The news triggered an immediate outpouring of sympathy. Among others, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said he will miss Jobs "immensely".

APPLE, NEXT, IPHONE
A college dropout, Buddhist and son of adoptive parents, Jobs started Apple Computer with friend Steve Wozniak in the late 1970s. The company soon introduced the Apple 1 computer.

But it was the Apple II that became a huge success and gave Apple its position as a critical player in the then-nascent PC industry, culminating in a 1980 IPO that made Jobs a multimillionaire.

Despite the subsequent success of the Mac, Jobs' relationship with top management and the board soured. The company removed most of his powers and then in 1985 he was fired.

Apple's fortunes waned after that. However, its purchase of NeXT -- the computer company Jobs founded after leaving Apple -- in 1997 brought him back into the fold. Later that year, he became interim CEO and in 2000, the company dropped "interim" from his title.

Along the way Jobs also had managed to revolutionise computer animation with his other company, Pixar, but it was the iPhone in 2007 that capped his legacy in the annals of modern technology history.

Two years before the gadget that forever transformed the way people around the world access and use the Internet, Jobs talked about how a sense of his mortality was a major driver behind that vision.

"Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life," Jobs said during a Stanford commencement ceremony in 2005.

"Because almost everything -- all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure -- these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important."

In Memorium - A Tribute To Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was an orphan. He never finished college because he wanted to change the world without waiting for a diploma.

Everything about the computer world has been affected by this man. But his influence spread way beyond the computer world and into our corporate culture as well as the way we act in every day life.

I am headed to a "peer summit" in a few minutes. I am going in sweats and a polo shirt. Steve Jobs made it acceptable.

There's really only one dream i remember having it happened like 6 months ago before i discovered paganism and Wicca. There was this one girl with golden hair, I guess she was a princess of a land in war. She had long golden hair but her skin was a caramel color.
Maybe this was you in a previous incarnation. The meeting of the two girls who look alike could represent the you now meeting the you then.

okay. well every time i have a dream i wake up not remembering any of it or i'll remember only one part of the dream which i forget later on. If i do remember the dream i'll forget it within ten minutes. There's really only one dream i remember having it happened like 6 months ago before i discovered paganism and Wicca. The enemy came to her castle and were looking for her so she went to a tub full of water and purposely fell in. She sank into another world, a world made of only sky and water ( i love water :] it's my fave element ^^ & i'm pisces). She was floating just about a centimeter over the water and apparently walked on it. In this other world she met a girl that looked exactly like her. They feeling was warm and loving. Right after this the girl fell into the water and was back into the tub. :] who

I want to give you a head start on celebrating silliness on today's 'Mad Hatter Day.' I bet ten shillings sixpence that you already know that the Mad Hatter is a character from Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.' But do you know where the term 'mad hatter' or 'mad as a hatter' actually came from? It appears that in the early eighth century mercury was used in hat making. Because of this process, commonly called 'carroting,' mercury poisoning became something of an occupational health hazard and actually did drive some hatters mad. So let's stay away from the hats today and use our heads to activate and heal the brain. Feng Shui says that engaging in a meditation called 'Beating the Heavenly Drum' will not only help to heal your head and brain, but will also improve your hearing and memory. This exercise additionally stimulates the kidneys and gives you greater energy during the day. Rub your palms together until they are hot to the touch. Then place your palms gently over your ears and firmly press so that you create a suction. Allow your fingers to rest on the back of your head and neck, pointing at each other with your index fingers at the base of your skull and your thumbs resting on the side of your neck. Place your index fingers on top of your middle fingers and then press until they flick off each other. Do this quickly so that they hit the base of your skull with a tapping rhythm. You will hear a 'drum beat' resounding inside your head. Do this alternatively, flicking first the left and then the right index finger in rapid succession while listening to the internal drum beating. Keep your palms pressed over your ears and flick both index fingers nine or twenty-seven times. It sounds crazy, but use your head. After all, it is 'Mad Hatter Day.'

The cosmic picture may not be as difficult and tumultuous as in other months we covered earlier this year, but this month is still no bed of roses. Today is a good example as psychic thunderstorms can coincide with any or all of the following: The Moon in Aquarius opposes Mars in Leo (4:10AM); Ceres makes an off-kilter, 150-degree tie to Saturn (8:27AM PDT); Mercury forms a similar, 150-degree link to Ceres (1:58PM PDT); Mercury unites with Saturn in Libra (3:02PM PDT); the Sun makes a frictional, 135-degree tie to Neptune (6:27PM PDT).

It's really the combination of all of these challenging alignments that can put you on the proverbial hot seat for much of the day. The Mercury-Saturn union is a definite reminder to be careful and cautious in delicate business negotiations. The Sun moving 135-degrees to dreamy Neptune has a tendency to create haziness across the board.

Fortunately, a few aces are up your sleeve as the Moon in Aquarius trines the Sun (9 :15AM PDT), Saturn (9:27PM PDT), and Mercury (10:22PM PDT) - all in Libra. Banishings and Spells


These, if you hadn't already figured it out, have to do with sending something away from you or keeping it away. It's something like shielding, except more energy is directed towards a specific something, and the spell is designed especially to keep away that one thing. While shields are a block-all, they can't keep out the really strong negative energy, nor keep away most active psychic vampires, especially if you're not very strong magickally.

Banishing spells are generally more powerful during the waning moon phases, between the Full Moon and the Dark or New Moon. This is supposedly so because the Moon's power is diminishing during these phases, and the tides are flowing outward. To cast a banishing spell at this time is to allow whatever you're attempting to banish to be pulled away by the tide out to sea.

These spells are often made to be hard to break; you do not want whatever you banish to come back to you, at least not too soon. There is some bit of ethics concerning banishing people; I would only cast a banishing spell on someone if they were truly harmful to be around and would not leave you alone. Make sure you've done everything you can to keep negative people away before attempting to use magick to banish them.

Setting up your workspace and gathering the materials you need for the spell is always the first step. Most candles used in banishing spells are black, representing Saturn as well as the light-absorbing void which attracts negativity into itself, away from you. Fire and Earth are the most often used elements during a banishing; Fire consumes negativity and frees up space for positive energy, while Earth buries negativity and recycles it into positive energy.

Small pieces of paper or parchment are used in Fire-based banishings where negative thoughts, actions, habits, and behaviors you wish to be rid of are written down and then cast into a flame. Black ink is often used for the writing, for similar reasons as black candles. I usually keep a small red candle lit to represent the Fire element in itself; after lighting a small piece of paper with the negative element written upon it, I allow the paper to burn through completely inside a foil-lined stoneware bowl, which becomes a cauldron for the duration of my spellwork. After I am done, I wrap up the bundle of ashes inside the foil and throw it away.

Some Earth-based banishings involve writing down what you want to banish, then balling up the paper, taking it outside, and burying it. If you visit a temple in Japan, you might see a tree covered in tiny strips of paper tied around the branches; these are prayers, thoughts, and worries which people have written down and allowed the Earth to take from them by attaching them to a tree.

There are many different ways of casting banishing spells, as well as many different methods of symbolism and materials to use in these spells; do your research thoroughly.

Repelling Negativity

"Mama said there'd be days like this..." Sometimes it feels as if the whole world is against you, and you just want to crawl under the covers and die! Cheer up, take heart, and act like a Witch: stand up for yourself, protect yourself, and send that negative energy back to the vortex. There are a few ways to repel negativity, and none of them have to include harming someone else. Don't be a doormat. Work it!

When you're doing spells to dismiss nasty energy, remember to keep your intentions very clear (as always). You do not ever want to send harmful vibes out to anyone. Remember the Law of Threefold return. Even if you're willing to take on the consequences, it's a big black mark on your aura, and it's not worth it. Having said that, there are plenty of Witchy ways to keep yourself from soaking up psychic or physical bullying.

Essentially, there are three spellcasting methods for getting rid of the uglies. You can choose from banishing, binding, and redirecting. Banishing takes the energy out of the environment, while binding keeps energy or a specific person from being able to affect you. redirecting involves sending whatever is bugging yo back to its sender. Most of the spells below are a combination of techniques.

Before we go any further, I want to say that you should always take action in the mundane world before, during, and after you use magick to protect yourself, by acting in accord. If you really feel unsafe--if someone is threatening you with physical violence--then you need to tell someone.

If you feel totally low and miserable and it doesn't get any better in a week or two, please talk to someone. Again, magick is great, and it works, but if you're overwhelmed, talk about it! Take it from a survivor of depression: it's an illness, it can be overcome, and you need help to kick it.

If you're dealing with something a little less serious and you want to womp it with some juju...

Tools of the Trade

Several common objects are quite handy for repelling negativity, so keep them on hand at all times:

*Mirrors. Use one in your bedroom to protect your personal space. Save old compacts and get some craft mirrors from a large arts and crafts store near you. In the same vein, you can use anything that's shiny or reflective the same way you'd use a mirror. Silver or silver paint, water, and glass will do the trick, too.

*Black and white candles. Black and white both have protective color vibrations. Black is better for absorbing energy, and white is good for restoring peace.

*Salt. Sprinkle some around your room for protection, including around the windowsills and doors. You can also add salt to water, make blessed water, and use that.

*Cords, especially black, gray, and white ones.

*Actual elements like candle flames, bowls of water/ice/snow, herbs to burn as incense, and dirt.

*Nails, safety pins, straight pins, staples, and other sharp stuff. You can use these to make defensive talismans, to seal a spell, or to poke holes in someone else's astral ego trip.

*Rose water, a sage or rosemary infusion, orange water (made from orange flowers--get this at a health food store), water with lemon juice, or salt water in a spray bottle. Spray a wee bit in the air around your room to cleanse it.

Banishings and Bindings

I realize not everyone is comfortable with some spells of this type. I have done these types of bindings and banishings, and am perfectly comfortable with my actions. Having the knowledge to protect and arm yourself is invaluable.


BINDING SPELL

This spell is for binding a violent or dangerous person from doing harm.
Photo of person to be bound OR a piece of white parchment paper with their whole name
written on it in black ink or dove's blood ink.
18 inches or so of black silken cord or black thick string, like embroidery floss.
A small glass jar w/ cork lid. A small white candle A small black candle
Light both your candles. Write the name on the paper or take the photograph in hand.
Fold the paper or photo into as small a rectangle as possible.
Take the cord in hand and begin to wind it around the rectangle, for a total of nine loops,
saying aloud in a clear, strong voice:
I (insert your name here), bind thee (insert name of offending person here)
from causing harm to (insert name of victim here),
from exerting control over this person, from influencing this person.
I bind you from making further plans with this person.
I call upon the angels, Auriel, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael
(or any other guides or deities you prefer.)
to assist me in this righteous cause!

A CANDLE BINDING

Get a large white candle, the kind that drips wax, and set it up on a tray.
Affix to it a photograph or other image of the person you wish to bind.
Make a ring of sea salt around it. Make a second ring with protective herbs.
Some dried rosemary from the kitchen will not break your bank. Or use sage if you like.
Fill the rest of the tray with images that represent what you are binding the person from: pictures of your family, keys to your house, legal documents, whatever.

If the problem is too complex for images, write what the person is bound from on slips of
paper and place them around the candle. Maybe they are gossiping and making your life
a misery. Write it down and explain what you want stopped.
Papyrus, or good thick paper made from cotton or linen work best for this.
I have pinched the first blank page of old books at sales!
Use red ink if you are angry, purple ink if you are sad.
Wrap the candle and the image with black thread (use cotton tread or linen or even wool, if possible).
Invoke Isis and "_____ the Binder With Linen Thread."
Say out loud what you are Binding the person from.
Light the candle and leave it burn until the wax begins to drip over the thread and image.
Burn it every day for a week, until the image is thick with wax.
Use this as a meditation device to direct your will to Binding the person.
You will have direct results if you have a just reason for this spell.
You can also Bind a person from harming themselves.

BLACK CORD BINBING

Use this to bind someone from hurting others and themselves.
ONLY do this if there are no other options available to you.
You need: Black cord-long enough to tie 3 knots in, A photo of the person harming others
First of all sit and cast circle.
Explain to the universe what you are about to do and ask if it is the right thing.
Think about how the person is hurting others and let the anger build up.
Then all at once say loudly: "(person's name) I bind you from hurting others!"
Then quickly tie a knot tightly in the cord.
Repeat the process three times or as many times you feel necessary.
When done, say: "Three times three, I bind you (person's name)!"
Hide the cord and photo in a safe place where the knots won't come undone.
Or better still, burn the cord so the knots never come undone.
(you don't really need a photo, but it helps make the magic stronger.

BANISHING SPELL TO STOP HARM

This will protect without causing the person bound any harm.
It is not a dark spell but a very potent protective one.
You may use a different oil if you wish to use as a banishing oil.
Rosemary may be substituted for Rue.
Materials:
1 black taper or image candle (gender depends on who you are trying to bind) nail
black cloth a large piece of black cloth red ribbon cotton needle and thread
Banishing oil (see below) loose tobacco
A small mirror that can stand by itself
If you can obtain hair or nail clippings from the person or a picture, you can use it in this spell.
Fold the felt in half and cut out a rough shape of the person you want to bind.
Make the figure large enough so that you will be able to stuff it after you have sewn it together.
Sew the pieces of the poppet together, leaving a hole through which you can stuff the poppet.
Fill it with cotton and tobacco, and if you have the hair or nail clippings of the person, add those to it.
Once it is filled, sew the opening closed. If you have a picture of the person,
staple or sew it to the front of the poppet.
Next, care the name of the person onto the black candle with the nail and add these runes:
Thuraz, Isa, Eihwas, a dark filled in circle to represent the dark moon,
bars like you will see in a jail, and a widdershins (anticlockwise) spiral.
Anoint the candle and the poppet with the oil.
Cast a circle, invoke the elements, God or Goddess you are working with.
Light the altar candles.
Light the black candle and adjust the mirror so that flame is reflected in the glass.
Hold the poppet out in front of you and say:
"Creature of cloth thou art,
Creature of flesh and blood you be.
I name you (name of the person you are binding).
No more shall you do me harm.
No more shall you repeat false tales.
No more shall you interfere in my life, nor in the lives of my loved ones.
By the power of the Gods and by my will, So mote it be!"
Draw an invoking pentagram over the poppet.
Now take the ribbon and begin to wrap the poppet like a mummy,
leaving no space unwrapped. Say:
"I bind your feet from bringing harm to me.
I bind your hands from reaching out to harm me.
I bind your mouth from spreading false tales to harm me.
I bind your mind from sending energy to harm me.
If you do so continue, let all negative energy be cast and reflected directly at you!"
Tie off the ribbon and hold the poppet in front of the mirror while you visualize all negative energy this person has sent to you being reflected back at them.
Wrap the poppet in the black cloth and tie with another length of ribbon. Say:
"Great Mother, I have bound this person
from harming me and my loved ones.
By the powers of three times three
By Earth and Fire, Air and Sea
I fix this spell, then set it free
Twill give no harm to return to me
As I will, So mote it be!"
Let the candle burn out while the poppet sits at its base, then take the poppet
and the remains of the candle far from your home and bury it deep in the ground
or toss it in the ocean and walk away without looking back.

BINDING
The purpose of this spell is to rid yourself of the negative energies of someone
who is mentally or emotionally abusing you. If done properly, it will not harm the
object of the spell nor will it affect his or her daily life in any way. It will simply
make the person powerless to mentally or emotionally harm you.
Materials:
-Small cloth doll, leave the head unstitched until you are ready to begin the ritual
-Needle and thread
-Some personal item from the person you want to bind (fingernail clippings, hair, handwriting sample)
-Black ribbon Black candle Cauldron or other fireproof container
-Sterilized needle Piece of paper and pen One candle at each quarter (optional)
Ritual:
Call the quarters - I like to use candles at each quarter to form a circle of fire for extra protection.
Light the black candle
Concentrating deeply on the person you are binding, place the personal object
inside the head of the doll and sew it shut.
Tie the black ribbon around the poppet's head, signifying the binding of that person.
''With harm to none, my will be done
I hereby bind you (name of person)
Your words cannot harm me
Your thoughts cannot harm me
You cannot harm me''
Continue chanting this or something like it until you feel power surging through you.
Visualize the person helpless to slander or verbally and mentally abuse you while you are chanting.
Now, to bind the spell -
If you have a sigil or a Craft name, sign it on the small piece of paper. If not, sign your own full name.
If others are working the ritual with you, they too should sign the paper.
With the sterilized needle, prick one of your fingers and put a small drop of blood over your signature.
Again, if others are working with you, they should place a drop of blood over their signatures.
(using a different needle, of course)
Fold the paper, light it on fire and drop it into the cauldron (which should be on a heat-proof surface!).
Meditate on the flames until the paper completely burns away.
If you are working with a group, join hands at this point and feel the power
surging around the circle as the spell is bound.
Ground and center
Release the circle. Thank the Goddess and God for their protection and power
Bury the doll as far away from you as possible within the next few days.

A SPELL TO BIND EVIL

To use this spell you must be able to picture the evil you wish to bind within your mind.
It is very important to be able to see strands or bonds or knots that hold it together.
Those are what you are going to release slowly.
Do note that this spell can take a long time depending on the strength and complexity of the evil.
You must imagine yourself undoing the knots or bonds and then say out loud as many times as needed:
"I bind this evil from doing harm
To those around us And itself
I bind it to be free But not harmful."
You MUST do this slowly.
If you do it quickly and try to overwhelm the evil it could overwhelm you
or just manifest on it's evil on the energy you are giving out.
If you plan to do this spell please be very careful and know that it is very draining.

Lady N,

When I banished my step-son I also did a binding on him to prevent him from doing harm to himself or to others.

In my spell, I used silver bead garland (Yule tree decoration) to act as hundreds of mirrors to reflect his evil intentions and actions back upon him. The mirror beads were wrapped around a photo, a coin and a dice from a roll playing game.

The mirror bead bundle was placed into a tin with a copy of the spell covered with a lid and is sealed and kept in a safe place.

The spell is meant to be permanent, as is his banishment.

I agree with you absolutely in that these types of spells should only be cast as a last resort and never taken lightly.

I successfully stopped the evil in my household but my marriage was damaged by the whole experience. (We are working through the issues and things are getting better. He may be a twisted sister but he is still my wife's son! She visits him in another state on occasion but he stays away from here.)

Before we cast these types of spells we need to be sure to truly try think through all of the possible effects of the Magick we cast. Then, if we have tried all of the mundane solutions, there is no other option, and the potential effects are worth ending the torment, then I believe that A Witch Must Do What A Witch Must Do to protect hearth, home, family & Circle.
