This Week's Moonscopes Forecast
For the week of Oct. 16 to Oct. 22

Sunday, Monday(*v/c-evening): the Moon is in Gemini
Get in touch with people (this is the communication sign) and check out all kinds of information (this is also the education sign). Remember that Gemini likes to use the brain without creating a strain, so keep it light and airy - this is an air sign after all.

Tuesday, Wednesday: the Moon is in Cancer
Sometimes Cancer likes to be traditional, just like its opposite sign Capricorn (the sign that rules or is in charge of tradition). Cancer's domain is the people in the home & family, including the extended family, and Capricorn keeps track of the family line, traditions, and all of the history. Protection and security are two ways in which Cancer is connected to family matters. This includes emotional security, a very important concern of this sign. The Crooked Forest

The crooked forest: Fantasy woodland that could have come straight from a fairytale

With their trunks all bent the northward, these trees look like something straight out of one of the more uncomfortable fairy tales.
Surrounded by a larger forest of straight growing pine trees near Gryfino, north-west Poland, this grove of curved trees - dubbed the 'Crooked Forest' - is a mystery.
The curved pines, of which there are about 400, were planted around 1930.

Mysterious: These crooked pine trees are just some of 400 whose trunks are bent to the north in one forest in north-west Poland

They were allowed to grow for seven to ten years before being held down in what is thought to have been some kind of human mechanical intervention.

Speculation as to what the trees may have been intended for ranges from use in making bent-wood furniture, the ribs for boat hulls or yokes for ox-drawn plows.
However, before they could be harvested, the outbreak of the Second World War interrupted the plans of whoever was growing and tending the grove, leaving their plans a mystery.

Creepy: The eerie looking trees are thought to have been bent into shape by some kind of human intervention - but the reason why is unknown

This was a great article. I watched the video that it referred to--apparently the Devil is Loch Ness. And Bigfoot. And aliens. Also, I asked my college-aged daughter about "Twilight." She said it is indeed true that the books caused her to no longer be oriented towards humans--after watching the movies, she says she now dates werewolves and vampires exclusively. :-)

Though I find it frightening how alarmist these groups are--pitting themselves against the world, against culture, finding evil in every recess--I imagine that they also live very sad lives. When what defines your faith is fear, and your practice is made up almost exclusively of restrictions and prohibitions, what joy is left?

Very impressive! I love white sage, for it is the only kind with
which one can smudge and assure with absolute certainty that one is
not inviting things instead of banishing them (it's the only kind the
Hopi, Navajo, Utes, and Osage will use for that purpose).
Unfortunately, it doesn't grow here. Luckily the man who owns our
metaphysical store travels and every year he harvests some for the
store.

We had planted catnip for the cats and ours was similarly impressive.
You would not believe the difference in quality between something you
raised yourself and what you find in the store!

I had saved this and reread it. I wanted to tell yall a story about
A friend of mine. He is a fireman but also a reserve police officer
And a paramedic. That I had worked with for quite awhile.
He told me that one time he was taking a deceased man to Dallas

Please, Trim Your Posts!

If you belong to a Yahoo Group or a list, how often have you seen this request? Do you trim your posts? If you don't why don't you? Is it because you:

1. Don't know how?
2. Don't see why you should?
3. Can't take the time/can't be bothered?

1.*If you don't know how, then you need to learn. By far, the majority of posters that do not trim posts do not know how.
It isn't hard! (For those who REALLY don't know how, you must press 'Reply' first.)
Start and drag the cursor to the end.
Step Two, cut to remove the highlighted area.
Step Three, use Delete or Backspace instead of cut.
All Trimmed and ready to send.
2.* Don't see why you should?
Every word in an email takes up a bit of bandwidth. A really long and repetitive email can use more bandwidth than most users are aware. But the people who live in areas that get charged for every second of bandwidth are aware! So out of respect for those folks, trim your posts!

Another reason to trim, it just makes posts easier to read! No one wants to see over and over again all of the stuff that Yahoo adds to each and every post! I don't know about everyone else, but if the poster is appending his/her post to the end of the message, I probably won't read it if the post contains everyone else's message that has ever replied without trimming.

If none of the above moves you to trim, think about this. For folks who are vision impaired and depend on screen readers, there is no option to 'visually skim' trying find the pertinent information. They must listen to each and every word; maybe even listen to the mechanical voice count how many asterisks are in the attempt to mark off a section. Many aspects of email, and the internet in general, can be huge boosts for accessible living. Other aspects, like untrimmed email, can be equally huge roadblocks.

3.* Can't take the time to be bothered?
If you think your time is more valuable than being courteous, then you probably don't need to post to Yahoo Groups. Common courtesy goes a long way and is one of the most valuable assets for a poster. It is part of the reason a group can be successful.

So please take the time to learn how to trim messages when posting to a group or list. You will be much appreciated and will not earn the wrath of fellow members for using unnecessary bandwidth. (Your posts will be much easier to read!)

One last thing, don't get too carried away with trimming!
There is a happy medium to trimming. Leave enough of the message you are responding to so that we don't have to search through a list to find the original post. For me, if all of the footer information is trimmed, that is usually enough. Unless of course the post has been replied to numerous times. Then more rigorous trimming needs to happen.

Some folks are so enamored of 'all posts must be trimmed' they lose sight of the original purpose of help groups, which is to actually 'help' and not jump on folks all the time for not trimming.
