Re: Why do you love the Halloween Witch?

The newest perspective I have for the Halloween witch I have was because of
something that was shared in a group a few years ago. It talked about how
the women who were accused of witchcraft might have been tortured to wring a
confession out of them and how they might have appeared after such treatment
It made a lot of sense to me and I haven't looked at the traditional image
the same way ever since.

No matter what anyone else may think, I'll display the green skinned
Halloween witch every year with pride.

I still have the story saved if anyone wants to read it.

Daily Insight - Oct 11

Daily Insight - Oct. 11

Life Force - Find the joy of living in your own life and allow yourself
the full experience of living that joy. Allow yourself to feel that love
of living from the inside out... let go of all restraints and let
yourself be swept away by your the pure joy of life itself. Once you
understand this and can allow yourself to do so.... you'll have the
ability of move mountains and overcome obstacles. Nothing will stand in
your way.

Completion -All things in life have a beginning, a middle and an end. It
is often that we will begin and never fully reach the end of something,
therefore leaving unfinished business in our lives. For healing to take
place we must allow the ending to come into being. Also with ourselves
we must allow ourselves to become inwardly empty as a way to cleanse and
make room for new. The ending is inevitable... prolonging it only holds
us back from moving forward.

Doubt - Doubt clouds the mind and keeps us from seeing clearly what is
right in front of us. When doubt shows its face, learn how to step back
and look with different eyes at your situation and wait patiently for
the answer from your heart.

Many Blessings,

I'm a What?

Posted by: "holly@ravenoriginals.com" holly@ravenoriginals.com   hollyberrysheart

Tue Oct 11, 2011 11:45 am (PDT)

I'm a What?

A witch, you say?
Let me tell you why that's perfectly okay!

I'm filled with magic from head to toe
But things don't just happen when I twitch my nose.

What's that? A warty face and talking toad?
Come now, that misconception is pretty old.

Let me tell you all about the real me ...
Then maybe... just maybe you will see.

My book of shadows is merely the pages of my mind.
That magic candle burning bright, that's the light I carry inside.

My magic potion, simply put, is the love that I share.
My broomstick, how I fly - that's my dreams drifting through the air.

The cauldron that holds my brew
Well that's my soul, I thought you knew!

The brew that bubbles deep inside
You see that's my spirit, I cannot hide.

So call me a witch if that's what you want to do.
I'll send you some love, for that's the kind of magic that I do!

Many Blessings,
Raventalker

Fw: DRUMS from HEAVEN Halloween Ball Oct 30 benefit NJ

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 11, 2011 7:32 pm (PDT)

Subject: DRUMS from HEAVEN Halloween Ball Oct 30 benefit

Hello brothers & sisters of the
Drum,

It is with great enthusiasm I invite you to our 6'th anniversary DRUMS from
HEAVEN. On October 30'th, exactly 6 years since the first drum & dance
celebration, we will certainly be pulling out all the stops. Whether you have
come to all, some, or just one event you have helped us grow into one of
the most energizing circles in the metro area.

Many people I've met this year are new to this e-mail list. For those not
familiar with what we do, DRUMS from HEAVEN is a charity based
event.
We are multi cultural, having featured drum and dance
styles such as African, Middle Eastern, Brazillian, Latin, Indian,
Carribean, Native American and are looking forward to the Asian styled Taiko
drumming coming at this next event. We incorporate some short performances
usually followed by you the circle participating. Some free style drumming is
also in the mix. One of the things that makes this a magical experience is
not once has any performer ever been paid a dime to join us. Everyone has given
from their hearts to help the charitable cause we select. I myself don't do this
for the dollar either, only recooping expences, then turning over all profits to
the cause.

          We have
come a long way since the seed was planted in 2005.
Maybe you've never come
before, maybe you've only come once or maybe your hooked and come support all of
these charitable causes. I can only urge you not to miss this special
day/night.
                 On
October 30, 2011, my nonprofit organization will be undertaking a
fundraiser for the purpose of raising money for a good friend Sigi
Nissimov
a cancer patient who is in need of medical assistance.
Sigi is a wonderful
belly dancer who has given of herself and danced at all
of my events for the last 6 years. It is now time to give back to her in her
time of need.  All funds raised after costs will be going to her
benefit.
          My event
is called "DRUMS from HEAVEN." It will feature a day/night of free style
percussion drumming, dancing, and a few performances.
The event features an
interactive drum circle with an opportunity for anyone with or without drumming
or dancing experience to join in the festivities.
We will also feature some
cultural performances including a Taiko drumming group
called TaikoZoku. Many Belly dancers will also be
featured.

I have been working on this event for about 3 months. Now is the time I start
reaching out for help. DRUMS from HEAVEN has become a success because of the
spirit of people who care and share their resources. Here are some ways you can
be helpful.
         We would like to
raffle some prizes at this event and are looking for any type of donation within
your means. Merchandise or gift certificates are great ideas. If you know of
anyone in sports or music, entertainment, etc., who would autograph
something for us to raffle, that would be a great help. Please let me know
A.S.A.P. if you can donate something.
Any cash donation will be most
appreciated and will help us raise money for the fund. Checks can be made out
to Sigi Nissimov. Please notify me for an address to send any cash
donations.
         I also need
volunteers on Oct 30'th to help me set up the venue with chairs, tables and
Halloween decorations. If you could forward this e-mail to people on your e-mail
lists or your facebook friends-that would help.
Please let me know if you
can help on 10/30 anytime between 11AM and
2PM
        This is also our annual
Halloween Costume Ball Drum and Dance.
People are encouraged to dress in
costume but this is not necessary.
Prizes and Raffles will be offered, our
Grand Prize will be a Mark Wood djembe drum worth over $300.
This event
is extra special to me because we will be helping a close friend and it happens
to fall on the 6'th anniversary of Drums from
HEAVEN.
       All are welcome to attend.
Event details
below.
             Thanks
for your
consideration,
                    TommyPurpleHaze,
Chairman of fundraiser and event facilitator

My dear friend Sigi Nissimov who has danced at all my
events is in need of a miracle cure as she battles cancer. I am asking
everyone's support in making this the biggest fundraiser to date. If you want to

OCTOBER:
Blood Moon, Falling Leaf Moon, or Moon of the Changing Seasons, this is a time for transition, release, inner peace, past lives, and karmic completion.

Full Hunter's Moon - October With the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt. Since the fields have been reaped, hunters can easily see fox and the animals which have come out to glean.

American Indian (Choctaw): Blackberry Moon
American Indian (Dakotah Sioux): Moon When Quilling and Beading is Done

Full Harvest Moon (October)

The Harvest Moon is the full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox and is bright enough to allow finishing all the harvest chores.

This is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering.

National Day (Spanish)

10/12 eve to 10/13 eve: Proerosia--Old Greek festival in which fruits of all the harvest were offered to Goddess Demeter.

Fortuna Redux, the Roman goddess of successful journeys and safe returns is worshiped today.
Exceprted From The Earth Moon and Sky and School of The Seasons

Egypt/Kemet:  The Dividing of the Black and Red Lands -- the Black Land is given to Heru (Horus); The Red Land is given to Set. This event corresponds roughly with this date on the Gregorian calendar.

Rome: Fortuna Redux (Happy Journeys) - day of honor for the Goddess of fortune, Fortuna.

Zoroastrianism: Ayathrem - the feast of bringing home the herds.
Continues through Oct. 16th.

Today's Goddess:  Fortuna Redux Festival of Fortuna Redux (Rome)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:38 pm (PDT)

Today's Goddess:  Fortuna Redux
Festival of Fortuna Redux (Rome)

Themes:  Travel; Good Fortune; Success; Fate
Symbols:  Chamomile; Oak

About Fortuna Redux:  This aspect of Fortuna specifically watches over all travelers,
especially now that the weather might make for unsafe conditions.
Whenever you travel, she goes with you to make a happier, luckier
journey filled with success.  She can also give you predictions about
what to expect during your travels.

To Do Today:  If you've been thinking about planning a trip, today is the perfect
time to start.  Fortuna Redux will make sure you get good connections,
directions, hotels, or whatever you need so your journey will go off
without a hitch.

No matter where you
have to go today, you can take this goddess's blessing with you simply
by carrying some chamomile tea bags or placing an oak leaf in your
shoe.  This invokes her protection on your car, the bus, train, or any
other mode of transportation to help you avoid mishaps and traffic jams
en route!  Better still, if the day gets hectic, you can drink the tea
for improved luck!

To see what the future
holds in terms of travel, try sprinkling some loose chamomile over a
damp surface (ideally your car's hood).  Look to see what patterns
emerge.  If the flowers form an octagon, for example (the shape of a
stop sign), this might be a message to stop your plans temporarily.  If
they form a wheel, the pattern could be interpreted as an omen to travel by car or bus.

Spell A Day -  Career Hunt Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:38 pm (PDT)

Spell A Day - Career Hunt Spell
Incense of the day: Cedar

Whether you're looking to get started in your chosen career or to change the
path you're on, looking for a job these days is getting harder and
harder. Take advantage of Gemini in Libra to add extra charm to your job search. Nothing inspires confidence like a bright smile, so for this
spell you'll need a new toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste that only
you use. Charge the toothbrush and toothpaste with energies that bring
forth your natural exuberance and that show off your best talents and
skills. Focus on providing yourself an extra boost of confidence when
you talk with someone in person or on the phone. Use this toothpaste and toothbrush every morning. Now go out and apply for those open
positions.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Peppermint vs. Spearmint

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Peppermint vs. Spearmint

Peppermint can sometimes over power a blend. Use Spearmint in your blend when you want a fragrance
that's less harsh. The therapeutic properties are just about the same and I think Spearmint is a fresher scent.

Simple Spells

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:44 pm (PDT)

Simple Spells

Here are a few simple spells that need no circle casting. Always remember 'for the good of all' and 'harm it none'.
Slow down and examine life. On a Sunday
evening, mix a quarter cup of salt with a teaspoon of peppermint tea.
Hold the cup in both hands so you can smell the peppermint scent
while you relax and meditate for a few minutes. Finally, repeat this incantation:
"I now talk to my higher self, and ask what needs to be worked on. "

Spell to land a computer job!
On
the night of a new moon, wipe down the sides of your computer, monitor
and keyboard with a clean blue cloth, then light a stick of patchouli
incense and wave the stick near the monitor so the smoke wafts around
it.
Sit down, start your computer and create a new text file. Name
it Victory. Type this is large, bold letters as a heading for your
document, then type a numbered list of all the tasks you should be doing
to land the job of your dreams. Make sure you have at least seven tasks
in your list. Read this list each day, empowering each task by
repeating this incantation:
"Harken powers of the gods, grant me the courage and conviction to believe in myself and go forward and achieve my dreams."
Set
yourself the goal of achieving at least one of your tasks each month to
ensure that you stay positive and focused on your ambitions.

Get friendly with the neighbors.
Firstly,
set up a meeting with your neighbors. Bring good fortune to this
meeting by holding it on the night of the new moon, which is the best
time for building friendships. On the day of the meeting, clean your
home thoroughly, place fresh pink or white flowers in a vase, and walk
around the living room once while carrying a sprig of sage and saying:
"Nature divine and golden sun, shine happiness and fortune and bring us together as one."

Good luck for business trips.
Before you leave for a business trip, bless your bank and credit cards and your business documents with this lucky spell.
Cast
your magick on a Sunday and preferably in the sunlight, as the sun
encourages more gold and can help attract success. Gather together your
documents and cards and wrap them in either a bright yellow or gold
coloured scarf. Place the bundle on a flat surface and light a stick of
frankincense. Wave it over the bundle as you visualise your upcoming
business meeting. Keep your thoughts in  a positive and optimistic state
as you repeat this incantation:
Let solar magick here begin, success flies from Apollo's chariot - to win.

Ovid, Metamorphoses

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:44 pm (PDT)

It would take hours to tell her journey,
to list all the places Ceres looked for Proserpine,
how far she traveled, searching, searching.
The goddess covered the land and all the seas.
At last, she reached an island whose springs,
though mute, still spoke to her in the moving
language of waters: drifting on the water
Ceres saw the ribbon belt of her lost daughter.
~Ovid, Metamorphoses

This is
the day of the great Greek festival called the Thesmophoria, a festival
of mothering reborn this century when the Catholic Church named this day to be the feast of the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin. In Greece, the
Goddess Demeter was honored on this day, under her alternative name of
Thesmosphorus, "law-giver." It was her role to help the crops to grow
again in spring, and to prepare for such growth, pigs were sacrificed to her by being thrown into chasms in the earth. Then the composted
remains of the previous year's offerings were brought forth and mixed
with seeds for planting.

Those of
us who do not live close to the earth sometimes forget that we need to
nurture new growth with the soil of what is past. All our experiences
form compost for our souls, from which new insights and new love can
grow. We must be patient with our inner changes, knowing that new growth will break through in time.
