Serpent Healing Spell
One of the symbols of the Goddess Bridget was the serpent, which represented healing and transformation.
As water arises from beneath the ground, the serpent emerged from the
underworld, bringing the healing power of the spirit realm and
signalling the approach of spring. In Scotland and Ireland, a divination ceremony called the Rite of the Serpent was performed in early
February. Use this spell to encourage the arrival of spring and increase life energies and blessings in your own life. Light a green candle and
set it on a white cloth. Meditate on the image of the serpent. Offer it
honor and devotion, and ask for a sign of what is to come, saying:
The Serpent shall come from the hole.
The Queen shall come from the mound.
I will not harm the serpent,
Nor will she harm me.

Naturally his wife, Hera, was not to pleased. So, to hide Io from her he changed her in to a white heifer. When Io ate the grasses she found them too coarse and bitter for her and she began to cry. What has Kali to do with me?
Everything. Her lotus feet
are the end of every pilgrimage.
When I meditate upon her
I float like a lily on an ocean of bliss.
I think of fire consuming fuel:
that is Kali. Devotion to her
is the root of all happiness.
Salvation is her companion.
Think hard upon the wild-haired
goddess, and all becomes clear.

In mid-February, a
great Hindu feast dedicated to Kali is held. She is represented at that time by the dark moon, the moon whose reflected light is entirely
hidden from the world. While during this period the earth is cloaked
with darkness each night, it is also a time ripe with possibilities and
potentialities. Like any seedtime, it seems empty but is, in fact,
limitless and full.
During our own
seedtimes, we must rest patiently in the knowledge that growth is
inevitable as long as there is life. We often grow impatient with such
dark times. We want to know the future before it has begun to sprout
from the present. Yet if we tear apart the seed to understand what may
spring forth from it, we kill all hope of future growth. Thus the wisdom of seedtime is simple: to hold still, to believe, to rest in the quiet
darkness and know that a sunny future is ultimately ahead.
