Merry Meet Everyone,
Since I'm somewhat new to Wicca and I've never made a Spell myself I'm contributing one from a book I have. I'm kinda nervous to make my own Spell thinking it may sound stupid or be wrong. I guess I'm my own worst critic.
This Spell is Hathor's Mirror and it's from the book Silver's Spells for Love by Silver Ravenwolf.
Hathor is a powerful Egytian Goddess~a Solar Deity. She is said to nourish the souls of the deceased & newly born. A patron of beauty.
This Hathor Mirror is to conjure beauty & self esteem by filling us with strength & grace.
Supplies: A new mirror,decorations for the mirror (let your imagination go wild), index card, & gold candle.
Purchase a new mirror, one that you'll look into day & night. Decorate the frame. Choose a favorit poem or mantra (something encouraging self empowering)& write it on the card. On the back of card write 3 affirmations (positive thoughts about yourself or goals)
Light your candle & place it next to the mirror. Hold your hands over reflective surface and say the following:
Greatest Hathor! Mother Goddess!
Queen of Light! Queen of the Heavens & Earth. Mother of Joy!
Help me change myself,to allow myself to enrich my mind,my spirit,
& my body.
Where there is hate, let me sow love. Where there is discontent, let me sow happiness.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is discord, unity.
Where there is despair, hope.

Take severak deep breaths, allowing love to move thru & around u. Read your poem, then look in the mirror & repeat the affirmations 3 times. Try to do this every morning.
Also, you can close out the evening by doing this with a different poem followed by the affirmations.

Welcome to the Group Aspen May, Merry meet!
I am new to formal Wicca and have never worked with a group. I would like to I just don't know of any here in Canada.

Merry Meet and Welcome to 13 Witches.

I have travelled quite a bit over the years and I know how difficult it can be
to find kindred spirits when you don't know where to look.

I have found the Witch Vox is very helpful when looking for local Pagan/Wiccan/
Heathen groups. You might want to check them out at

Canada groups.

Meetups is another good tool. Check for Wiccan, Pagan or Witches Meetups in your
area. Meeting a group of Witches for coffee can be a lot of fun!

Don't be shy, just jump right in. I just know that you will enjoy 13 Witches.

Mayan Long Count Calendar Predictions

13 Witches,

There have been so many New Age predictions of 2010 & 2012 made, based upon the
Mayan Long Count Calendar, that I thought that we could use it as a topic of
discussion.

What we KNOW:

On Yule 2010 the earth entered the centre of the Galactic equator. (Every 26,000
years)

The last time this occurred the earth was hit by several meterorites over a
35 year period and caused mass extinctions related to a meteorite
collision induced ice age.

The Mayan Long Count Calendar predicts a new epoch beginning in 2012. (Every
5,126 years)

At the last epoch ending there were multiple Volcanic eruptions around the
earth as evidenced by gases found in ice cores. A mini ice age hit some
parts of the northern hemisphere. The Mayans were hit by drought
which disrupted their food production and their culture was severely impacted.
The Mayan Culture had to rebuild.

What does all of this mean to us?

Perhaps absolutely nothing, perhaps everything.

If we are to encounter natural catastrophes and humanity must rebuild, once
again, then there is no escape so why worry and make a fuss.

The Mayan Long Count Calendar does not indicate absolutely that these types of
natural catastrophes will occur, so again why worry and make a fuss.

I say let's forget the "predictions", live and love every day the best we can
and dance like there is no tomorrow.

Global Circumstances and Animation

The global visibility of this solar eclipse is shown in the diagram to the left. A higher quality version of this global plot can be downloaded in pdf format by clicking on this image.
An explanation of this diagram can be found here.


The animation shown in the diagram to the right illustrates the motion of the shadow of the Moon at five minute intervals. This animation runs in a continuous loop.
This graphic, provided by Dr. Andrew Sinclair, shows the grey penumbral shadow where the eclipse will be seen as a partial one. The UT time is shown in the upper right-hand corner of the diagram.

Local Circumstances and Animations
Diagrams showing the configuration of the eclipse including the local circumstances are available for the 532 locations given in the following table. All timing information is given in Universal time (UT). Animations showing the progress of the eclipse are also available for the locations specified. These animations can be as large as 275kb in size. It may be necessary to download these files for optimum performance. Eclipses for the locations listed in the following table in the period 1501 CE to 2100 CE can be found by following the location link.
