I can't stand FB anymore, I wish people would come back to the Yahoo groups it was much better but Yahoo is also upgrading too soon. Gotta stay with the times, eventually people will come back, happens all the time

18th Annual Beltaine in the Park Weekend Event
COME JOIN US TO CELEBRATE MAY DAY AND THE RITES OF SPRING WHILE WE DANCE AROUND
THE MAYPOLE
The Coven of the Rising Phoenix is pleased to continue the tradition of
Beltaine in the Park at Nassau County's Wantagh Park for it's 18th year.
WE WILL BE CELEBRATING BELTAINE THIS YEAR WITH A FULL WEEKEND EVENT!
Saturday, May 7st and Sunday, May 8th from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. There will be 2
days worth of ritual, dancing, shopping, entertainment, classes, drumming and 2
community picnics!
Admission is $5.00 per day or $8.00 per weekend pass.
Children under 10 Y/O free.
Receive a $1.00 discount per admission for a non perishable donation to our food
bank - LI Cares.
All net proceeds go to Bobbi and the Strays - a local animal shelter and rescue
group.
Bobbi and the Strays will be on hand both Saturday and Sunday with adorable
animals for adoption.
An 18 foot piece of ribbon will be needed to dance the Maypole.
Ribbon will be available to purchase for $4.00 per piece.
There will also be a children's Maypole.
BELTAINE IN THE PARK 2010 EVENTS SCHEDULE TO BE ANNOUNCED!
DRUM CIRCLE EACH AFTERNOON
DRUMMERS BRING YOUR DRUMS AND DANCERS BRING THOSE HIPS!
ALL ARE WELCOME!
There will be a community picnic each day after the Maypole dance. Pack a
picnic basket and bring a blanket. Relax around the fire pits and enjoy the
conversation, the drummers and the belly dancers. Feel free to blanket hop.
This is a public park and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
Please be advised that the weather is still unpredictable this time of year.
Coats, sweaters, sunglasses and umbrellas for sun protection could all be
feasible options. Please be prepared.
We are still accepting vendor applications for Beltaine in the Park.
If you are interested in vending please don't delay.
**We are looking for a Henna artist to vend at Beltaine in the Park. If you
are a professional in this area we think this would be a fabulous enhancement
to this year's Beltaine.**

Directions: Wantagh Park is located south of Merrick road directly next to the
entrance ramp for the Wantagh Parkway. Coming down Merrick road from any major
Pkwy is the easiest route. If coming from the east it is a left turn at the
entrance ramp for the Wantagh Pkwy SOUTH and from the west it is a right hand
turn. Please take notice of the entrance to the park as it is directly to the
right, next to the entrance ramp to the parkway.

T'ai Shan - On the 17th day of the fourth lunar month, the Chinese honor the
goddess of Midwifery, the Daughter of the god of the Sacred Mountain. She is
invoked at births along with her four attendants: the Ladies of Posterity,
Fecundity, She Who Activates Birth and She Who Brings the Child.

St George's Day -Although Apr 23 is usually considered St George's Day, Eastern
Christians prefer this date. It's again a day for going outside. Serbs rise
early, before dawn and go out into the woods to bring back flowers and green for
decorating homes, schools and meeting halls. It's considered a hinge day (just
like Beltane), and the start of the swimming season.
On this day Bulgarians used to smear their doorjambs with fresh lamb's blood as
a charm against sickness and evil, which suggests the older custom that
underlies the story of Passover and may be related to a feast of shepherds in
the spring. Especially since in Bulgaria it is on this day that farmers ask St
George to send them an even bigger lamb, promising to use it in the ceremony the
next year. In Russia, this day is especially connected with soldiers, as is St

Snake Festival - On the first Thursday in May, the town of Cocullo Italy is full
of snakes, in honor of San Domenico. Snake handlers gather the snakes on March
19 (St Joseph's Day or equinox) when they are first emerging into the warmth of
the spring sun and store them in jars of bran.
Greece: Thargelia - festival in honor of Apollo, god of the sun, prophecy,
music, medicine, and poetry. The festival was held on the sacred island of
Delos each year, the birthplace of Apollo and the goddess Artemis.
The sixth day of each month is sacred to the Goddess Artemis.

charm. Burn frankincense incense as you make a sacred space or circle. Pass a
dollar bill several times through the incense smoke, then fold the bill nine
timesâ€"starting at one end and ending with a small strip. Repeat with each fold:
“This venture will be blessed with prosperity and success.†Tie a string around
the folded bill, and carry it with you.

Daily Aromatherapy Tip
Lavender and Milk Bath Sachet
1/4 cup dried Lavender flowers
4-6 drops essential oil of Lavender
1/4 cup instant powdered whole milk
1/4 cup oatmeal.
Add the Lavender eo to the milk and mix well.
Place ingredients into a muslin drawstring bag.
Toss the bag into the bath water as it's running.
You can also use the bag to rub your skin as you bathe.

In Hindu philosophy, the great Goddess is sometimes named Aditi, the infinite.
Her sister is Diti, which indicates both the earth and everything that has
bounds and limits. Thus this Asian great wisdom shows us how the creativity

our understanding.
Even as we acknowledge the incomprehensibility of life, the goddess provokes us
to attempt to understand. And so we open ourselves to her mystery and her

as to hope to teach the Newer Generation the Way of the Craft!
