How do you celebrate the Holidays if there is a Spiritual Difference
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

How do you celebrate the Holidays if there is a Spiritual Differences?
What if your live with someone and there are spiritual differences, you just don't see eye to eye with the same belief,
is there a way to come in the middle and find some kind of balance?
What if the other partner doesn't have any religion or belief in their life, can that cause negativity in your home?
Is it possible to get that other person involved in your spiritual belief or is it just easier just to leave it alone?
Can living with someone with a different or no spiritual belief hurt your spirituality?

Hey All,
1st off I hope you're enjoying the holiday season without the stress it can bring...just the good stuff! Now for some business...as many of you know, I've been hired to write a monthly blog and post pics on the LNGnails website which features all that is creative and unique about long nails.
(hence the site title ;)
Anyway, I'd REALLY APPRECIATE IT if you'd visit the site and vote 10 STARS (& some LIKES) for my latest blog post:

DailyOM: Relying on Others

DailyOM - The Wisdom of Surrender
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:
December 6, 2011
Relying on Others
The Wisdom of Surrender
A deep feeling of gratitude can emerge as we open to the experience of being helped.
Most of us pride ourselves on our self-sufficiency. We like to be responsible for taking care of ourselves and pulling our own weight in the world. This is why it can be so challenging when we find ourselves in a situation in which we have to rely on someone else. This can happen as the result of an illness or an injury, or even in the case of a positive change, such as the arrival of a newborn. At times like these, it is essential that we let go of our feeling that we should be able to do it all by ourselves and accept the help of others.
The first step is accepting the situation fully as it is. Too often we make things worse either by trying to do more than we should or by lapsing into feelings of uselessness. In both cases we run the risk of actually prolonging our dependency. In addition, we miss a valuable opportunity to practice acceptance and humility. The ego resists what is, so when we move into acceptance we move into the deeper realm of the soul. In needing others and allowing them to help us, we experience the full realization that we are not on our own in the world. While this may bring up feelings of vulnerability, a deep feeling of gratitude may also emerge as we open to the experience of being helped. This realization can enable us to be wiser in our service of others when we are called upon to help.
It takes wisdom and strength to surrender to our own helplessness and to accept that we, just like every other human being, have limitations. The gifts of surrender are numerous. We discover humility, gratitude, and a deepening understanding of the human experience that enables us to be that much more compassionate and surrendered in the world.

Introduction to Wicca
Week 3: Tools of the Craft
From Patti Wigington, your Guide to Paganism / Wicca
So now we've talked about what it is Wiccans believe -- now it's time to get into the actual meat of what Wiccans practice and do. An essential part of Wicca is the use of magic to bring about change. This change can be for other people, the community at large, for self improvement -- the possibilities are nearly limitless. Many people find that various tools allow them to better develop their magical ability.
While you don't absolutely have to have every single one of these tools in order to be an effective worker of magic, they do come in handy. A tool helps you to focus your intent.
We'll talk about some of the tools most commonly used in Wiccan traditions, including the altar, and we'll spend a little time discussing the Book of Shadows, or BOS. You'll learn what a BOS is, what it should contain, and how to set up one of your own.
Magical Tools Image Gallery
Often, when people first discover Paganism or Wicca, they rush to go buy every single magical tool they can find. After all, the books tell us to buy this, that, and the kitchen sink... but what's the point? Do you absolutely have to have everything? Remember, magical tools have an actual purpose. Here are some photos of the magical and ritual items that many Wiccan and Pagan traditions use in some capacity.
Your Magical Altar
What's an altar, and why do you need one? Well, the altar is a personal place where you can put things that are sacred to your tradition. It's a spot where you can perform rituals, do magical workings, or just sit and have a moment of silent spiritual reflection. You can leave it up all year round, or change it based on your needs.
Basic Altar Setup
Now that you know what an altar is, what goes on it? Well, it's really not that complicated... the trick is to figure out what you NEED. Ultimately, focus on which tools are necessary to your practice, and leave the rest of them out of the way. Here's a blueprint for a very basic altar setup.
Make a Ritual Robe
Many Wiccans and Pagans prefer to perform ceremonies and rituals in special robes. For many people, donning the ritual robe is a way of separating themselves from the mundane business of everyday life -- it's a way of stepping into the ritual mindset, of walking from the mundane world into the magical world. Most people prefer to wear nothing at all under their ritual robe, but do what is comfortable for you. You can make your own robe easily, just by following a few simple steps.
Your Book of Shadows
The Book of Shadows (BOS) is used to store information on your magical tradition. Many Pagans and Wiccans have one, and consider it a sacred tool. Copy spells and rituals into your BOS, along with information on herbalism, deities, gemstones, rituals, and more. You can make your BOS as elaborate or as simple as you like.
Next Week: Intro to Magic
Next week, we'll talk about the basics of magic. You'll learn the fundamentals of how to make your own incense and magical oils, what a "correspondence" is, why colors are important, and more. Until then, have a magical week!

Today's Goddess: IX CHEBEL YAX La Quema del Diablo (Guatemala)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Tue Dec 6, 2011 8:45 pm (PST)
Today's Goddess:IX CHEBEL YAX
La Quema del Diablo (Guatemala)
Themes: Protection; Banishing; Health; Providence; Home
Symbols: Lunar Emblems; Spinning Tools; Baskets
About Ix Chebel Yax: In Guatemala, this Goddess bears a striking resemblance to Ix Chel in
that she teaches spinning, weaving, and basketry to humans. More
important, she is a mother figure who watches over all household
concerns from the moon, her home.
To Do Today: Part of the Guatemalan advent season, this festival finds people
burning bundles of garbage in ritual fires to banish the spirit of evil, negativity, and sin from their midst, especially from the home. Doing
so also purifies the people, keeping them healthy and staving off
hunger. Go through your living space and gather up any garbage
(including items that have been wanting for a trip to the secondhand
shop). Find one item that can be safely burned, and snip a swatch off of it. Release it to any fire source to burn away any tensions or sickness troubling your home.
Afterward, clean as
much of your house or apartment as time will allow. Invoke Ix Hebel
Yax's blessing by placing a spool of thread in the room where you're
working (white or green thread are good choices for peace and health,
respectively). Carry this spool from room to room, then put it in your
pocket for the day to keep the Goddess and her providence close by.

Hidden Inside Us
Posted by: "Holly Stokes" hollylstokes@gmail.com hollyberrysheart
Tue Dec 6, 2011 10:21 pm (PST)
You just never know when inspiration will speak to us. I could not
turn out my light tonight without writing about this rainbow that from
out of nowhere... appeared and lit up my creative soul.
It is midnight and I have to be up at 5am ... I am crawling into bed
and as I reach over to turn out the light on my bedside table I notice
inside one of the crystals lying on my table this beautiful little
rainbow hidden inside. I began to think about how that tiny little
rainbow inside my crystal is like each of us. We all have that rainbow
inside us. Layers of color that decorate our souls. Light from within
that tells a story of who we are, who we have been and who we will
become.
Think about this little rainbow when you meet others on your journey
each day. Think about how we are not just what you see on the outside.
We all have so much more to us. Layers upon layers of color inside and
a light that is as beautiful as we allow it to be.
Also I want to think about yourself and the rainbow in the crystal....
you are also equally as beautiful. You contain all those many layers
of color and light as well. Let your light and those colors shine.
Allow others to view the wonders of your soul and don't be afraid to
share your light.
By sharing our light, we encourage others to shine and share theirs as
well.. together we can create the rainbow this world needs to improve
and become a better, more caring and loving place.
If interested you can click on my blog link below to see a photo of
the crystal and the tiny rainbow inside.
