About Earth Activist Training

Learn how to heal soil and cleanse water, how to design human systems
that mimic natural systems, using a minimum of energy and resources
and creating real abundance and social justice. Explore the
strategies and organizing tools we need to make our visions real, and
the daily practice, magic and rituals that can sustain our spirits.
Participatory, hands-on teaching with lots of ritual, games, projects,
songs, and laughs along with an intensive curriculum in ecological
design.

About Starhawk:

Starhawk is a committed global justice activist, organizer, speaker,
teacher, and the author or coauthor of ten books. Starhawk travels
internationally teaching permaculture, magic, the tools of ritual, and
the skills of activism for diverse groups, communities and audiences.
Starhawk is perhaps best known as an articulate voice in the revival
of earth-based spirituality and Goddess religion. Besides her
inspiring, much-read books, she is a cofounder of Reclaiming, an
activist branch of modern Pagan religion, and continues to work
closely with the Reclaiming community. Her works include The Spiral
Dance, long considered the essential text for the Neo-Pagan movement,
and the now-classic ecotopian novel, The Fifth Sacred Thing. Other
common favorites are award-winning Webs of Power: Notes from the
Global Uprising, and Earth Path: Grounding Your Spirit in the Rhythms
of Nature. Starhawk's lattest book is The Empowerment Manual: A Guide
for Collaborative Groups.

Starhawk's books have been translated into many languages, while her
essays are reprinted across the world, and have been included in
numerous anthologies. Her writing is influential and has been quoted
by many hundreds of other authors, from magazines to trade and
academic press. Her books are often used in college curriculums.

Course Description

"Aloha 'Aina" is Hawaiian for "love of the land", or "to love,
respect, and nurture the land." As human beings now facing a time of
great environmental and social transformation, we believe that it is
through this spirit of reconnecting to ourselves, to our communities,
and to the Earth with a spirit of love and care that we will renew and

curriculum based upon the original Mollison and Holmgren ideas and
design philosophies published in The Permaculture Designer's Manual,
as well as be a nourishing retreat and hands-on immersion experience
of sustainable living. In addition to the standard permaculture design
certification curriculum, we recognize permaculture as an expanding,
holistic design philosophy encompassing many fields. Accordingly, this
permaculture design course will include and integrate additional
content and activities such as nature awareness, indigenous wisdom,
holistic nutrition, embodiment practices, inner work, group process,
and more. With a focus on tending the inner as well as the outer

Someone needs to hear this tonight.....No matter how much you try, no matter
how hard you work, no matter how much you put into it, nobody is ever
happy, then to top it all off, you have people that sit and gloat, think they are better then anyone else and act like a spoiled rotten little
child, then you get bossed and pushed around till where you want to just explode or fall and cry, no matter what...never let them see you fall
and always know your work is appreciated and if you feel good for doing
what you do and it benefit someone else, doesn't really matter how
others feel or make you feel, just know you did the right thing and did
it good! You are Appreciated and Thank you!

DailyOM: Choosing Not to Look Away

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

DailyOM - Helping the Homeless
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

December 8, 2011
Choosing Not to Look Away
Helping the Homeless
Most of us know in our hearts that the homeless and the poor are not so very different from us.

Homeless people in our communities are a fact of life, especially in big cities. Many of us don't know how to interpret this situation or what we can do to help. We may vacillate between feeling guilty, as if we are personally responsible, and feeling angry, as if it is entirely on their own shoulders. The situation is, of course, far more complex than either scenario. Still, not knowing how to respond, we may fall into the habit of not responding at all. We may look over their heads not making eye contact, or down at the ground as we pass, falling into a habit of ignoring them. Each time we do this, we disconnect ourselves from a large portion of the human family, and it doesn't feel right.

Most of us know in our hearts that the homeless and the poor are not so very different from us. They may be the victims of poor planning or an unavoidable crisis. Some of them are mentally ill, some are addicted to drugs or alcohol, and some are choosing to be homeless for reasons we may never understand. We can imagine that, given their lives, we would likely have ended up in the same place. This does not mean that we are meant to rescue them, as they are on their own learning path, but it does remind us that we can treat them as equals, because that is what they are. Even if we aren't able to offer food, shelter, or money, we can offer a blessing as we pass. We can look them in the eye and acknowledge our shared humanness, even if we don't know just how to help them. This simple act of kindness and silent or spoken blessings can be so helpful to those living on the street.

If you want to help with information, you can learn about the services in your area and share the locations of food banks, shelters, and other resources. Perhaps your family would like to have a plan ahead of time, talking with your children about how as a family you would like to handle these situations. Whatever you decide to do, you will feel much better when you make a conscious choice not to simply look away.

Today's Goddess: TONATZIN Tonatzin (Mexico)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Dec 8, 2011 8:24 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess:TONATZIN
Tonatzin (Mexico)

Themes: Religious Devotion; Blessing
Symbols: Soil; Light

About Tonatzin: An ancient mother figure who nurtures people and all that dwells in the land, Tonatzin is
the life and light of the world. Today she joins our festivals as the originator of this holiday.

To Do Today: Juan Diego, an Indian convert, was surprised when this goddess appeared to him in 1531 in an
ancient site of pagan worship and requested that the temple be rebuilt. Juan Diego believed this apparition was
Mary, and therefore he did as she commanded. To this day, people come here at this time of the year for the
Gddess's blessing.

While most of us cannot travel to Mexico just to implore Tonatzin, there is nothing that says we can't honor and
invoke her at home. Light a candle or lamp and place before it a potted plant or bowl of soil. This configuration
represents Tonatzin's presence in your home throughout that day. From here she can illuminate the shadows and
generate the light of hope and joy for all those who live there.

Carry a seed and some soil wrapped in a green cloth with you today. Name the seed after any earth quality you
want to develop in your life, such as strong foundations or emotional stability. When you get home, put the seed
and soil in a planter or your garden. Tonatzin's magick is there to manifest growth for the seed and your spirit!

Daily Aromatherapy Tip - Peppermint vs. Spearmint

Peppermint can sometimes over power a blend. Use Spearmint in your blend when you want a fragrance
that's less harsh. The therapeutic properties are just about the same and I think Spearmint is a fresher scent
