Do Love Spells Work?

Do Love Spells Work?
By Doug Brinlee

When it comes to the belief in modern day magic and spells, there are two camps; the believers and the skeptics. The skeptics do not believe in the hocus pocus and practices of today's pagans and witches. In turn, the pagans and witches accept magic as readily as we accept the belief that gas prices will be higher in another month.

Spells for love, success, luck, and a number of others that are beneficial are still performed by witches, although they claim to be white witches and their spells are harmless. Love spells are as popular as ever and are some of the easier spells one can cast. Beginners can do it or you can pay a professional witch to do it for you. But do love spells really work? Or are they just as the skeptics claim; a lot of mumbo-jumbo? If you are seeking love and you want some additional help in that department, here is some information you might find helpful before you get your chalk and candles.

What Love Spells Don't Do

The days of spells that specifically target a person to bind them to the spellcaster's will are over. Or they may still exist only in the latest online rpg. Today's spells do not twist another's willpower and freedom. They do not put the target in a trance or force them to do anything that would normally be against their better judgment.

So love spells do not target individuals. That would be in violation of one of the rules in witch etiquette. The rule states: Do not bind another being unless you are willing to be bound. So you cannot use a spell to get that hot guy in the office next to you to fall in love with you.

Why Love Spells Don't Work

Even witches and magic practitioners agree that spells do not always work. Sometimes they may not work they way that you want them to. One of the main reasons that spells don't work is because of belief. Do you really believe in magic? Belief is very important for anything to work. If you have to do a project at work, it is much harder if you do not believe that you can do it. If you are playing a round of golf and you do not believe that you are very good, you will likely play a lousy game. Belief is essential if you want something to work.

So let's say that you do believe in magic or are at least willing to give it a shot. Why won't a spell work? It could be several things. One of them is concentration. It takes practice and experience to attain the level of concentration needed to enable a spell to work. Spells have to have energy built up in them and then released at just the right time. If you do not have the proper frame of mind, you can't do it.

Motivation is another cause for love spells not working. You need to do some deep inner thinking before casting a love spell. Ask yourself why you are casting it. Are you seeking to hurt someone else? Are you trying to bind someone to you? Or is it truly to find love? Only when your motivation is true will the spell succeed. Selfish, greedy, or hurtful motivations are counter-productive to love spells and are a sure-fire way to get them to fail.

Timing and energy are other reasons for the failure of a love spell. Cycles of the moon play a big factor in practicing magic, particularly love spells. When the moon is waning, it is at its least power which means there is less power to draw on for the spell. If you want to cast a powerful love spell, you should wait until the moon if full and at its peak.
In love spells, part of the energy also comes from within you. You need to feel vibrant and full of energy when casting love spells. If you are sick, tired, or just don't feel like you have much energy, then the spell will be a very weak one (if it works at all).

Why Love Spells Work

Practitioners of magic swear that if done properly using positive energy, love spells do work. When the witch or caster has enough energy, the moon is in the right phase, and their motivation is good, the spell has a likely chance of success.

One thing to help a love spell is to make a list of what type of person you are looking for. Without naming a specific someone, give details with pros and cons, likes and dislikes. This narrows down the focus of the spell and allows the energy to find someone that matches what you are looking for.

Now if you do not really believe in magic but are seeking love and willing to give it a shot, there are some things you need to keep in mind. The first is that love comes naturally. Everyone, at some point in their life, will likely find love. But first you have to love yourself. If you do not like yourself, this creates negative energy that disrupts what you are trying to accomplish.

Witches say that love spells work for those who really want to find love. If you are just messing around, you won't get the best results. But if you are really sincere about finding love, and think about how much you want it when you cast the spell, then it will likely be successful.

Lastly, you need to prepare yourself for love. This means that you have to do some of the work. You can't expect a spell to do everything. Clean yourself up some. Pay attention to your appearance. Buy some new clothes that will catch someone's attention. If your hair is a mess, go get it styled. Start wearing a different perfume. If you want to have people over to your place, make sure it is clean so it will impress them. It is hard to find a soulmate if you live in a dump. Do yourself a favor and get yourself together in order to make the love spell work easier.

Fire Love Spell

Posted by: "Silver Fox" silverfox_57@hotmail.com   trickster9993

Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:47 am (PST)

Fire Love Spell
Source: Unknown

Ingredients:

honey
wax

Honey and wax are doubly bewitching, as both are made from bees. Take a red or pink candle and anoint with honey to draw someone to you. Carve both your names into the candle and surround the names with a heart. Burn on the new moon to attract a new lover, or on a full moon to strengthen a relationship that is already in progress. Burn a white candle anointed with honey if you want to heal a relationship. This is best done on a new moon the honey will sweeten the wounds and the burning wax will purify any surrounding negativity and seal in the white light and protective vibrations of love.

Fiery Love
Source: Unknown

Create or find a charred stick. You will also need a few dried rose petals & a piece of paper. Using the charred part of the stick as you would a pencil, draw two inter-linked hearts on paper as you visualize yourself enjoying a satisfying relationship. Draw with power. Hold the rose petals in your projective hand & send fiery, loving energies into them. Sprinkle the petals over the linked hearts. Do this with power. Wrap the package around the petals. Still visualizing, throw the package into a fire. (Or, light it in the flame of a red candle & throw into a heat proof container.) As it burns, the power is released.

The Fire's Love Spell
Source: Unknown

To cast this spell, you need a green candle, the photo of the person you love, and a green vegetal string.

Instructions of the spell: On a Friday, with the moon in crescent phase, Take the photo of the person you want to love you; attach the photo with the green strings giving 7 circles around the photography; now take the green candle, turn it on, concentrate in the photography of the person, and repeat innerly "X (Name of the person), you are attached to me with a link of love forever)", then, fire the photography firing it with the green candle. The cinders must be thrown to water.

Caution: Be extremely careful when using fire.

Valentine's day....

Posted by: "jessica balding" beautishianlove@yahoo.co.uk   beautishianlove

Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:39 am (PST)

February 14th. A festival of love.
A day to celebrate those you love and appreciate who you are!

The pagan roots of valentines day lie in the festival origionally called Lupercalia. It was celebrated on the 15th. It was sacred to the God Lupercus. It was also a festival of love, but also fertility.  Lupercalia subsumed Februa, a possibly earlier-origin spring cleansing ritual held on the same date, which gives the month of February its name.

Lupercus-The god of shepherds.

Symbols-Cherubs, Cupid, Aphrodite, love hearts, colours-red and pink.

red, pink, lilac; Lupercalia colours. Flowers-such as roses. Burn floural oil/s, listern to harp music.
Ritual feast-grapes, chocolate, champagne/red wine, strawberries.

Chant to find love-add to make your own spell- (By Marie Bruce);

"With these words this spell i sow,
Bring the love I've yet to know,
Fill my heart and set it a-glow,
Secrets only witches know.
I take the power and let it go,
As i will, it shall be so."

I have to say I loved this post(& spell)!!
So many people do love spells on a specific person....usually not a good idea! I've seen that interference of other's free will back fire, sometimes pretty bad.
Your spell, however, has put it together so nicely! Would you mind if I shared it with the members on my blog? If not I completely understand. Thank you for posting this, as we can all use a little love in our lives! ;D

List Of The Universal Laws Of Cosmic Awareness

Posted by: "OBE Dude" whitefrozenturkey@yahoo.com   whitefrozenturkey

Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:40 am (PST)

Cosmic Laws List:

http://cosmicchannelings.com/i/laws/54/311

Channeled from Cosmic Awareness on the universal laws:

"This Awareness suggests that you take each of these Laws and spend approximately one or two weeks meditating during your spare time thinking about what is being said, really looking deeply about what is being said. This Awareness indicates in this manner you shall begin to discover levels of consciousness that few have ever glimpsed. By studying these Laws you can open your consciousness to a level which is likened unto a college education in comparison to a first or second grade education. Your wisdom can expand ten-fold by studying these Laws with deep attention; this is only the beginning."

Note: Cosmic Awareness has stated that there are an infinite number of universal laws, therefore it is impossible to create a complete list of them.

Valentine's rituals: Gaining a lover....

Posted by: "jessica balding" beautishianlove@yahoo.co.uk   beautishianlove

Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:43 am (PST)

Goddesses- Ezili, Isis, Venus/Aphrodite, Gaia.
Objects- flower petals, red feather, 1red candle, 1pink candle and a rose quartz crystal.

Place the flowers out as your circle,(cast in your own way, as usual) then and call to Isis/Venus-

Goddess you make Love to enchant me, blessed be,
Goddess you make love to ever-change me, blessed be,
Goddess you make love to free me, blessed be,
Isis, Isis, Goddess who;
Searched the world and searched it true,
Far and wide.
Please be with me, and be my guide.

Pick up the feather, touch it onto the crystal, then stroke the feather on your face and say to Ezili/ Gaia-

Goddess you grant beauty, you show love,
The dove sings to you above.
Grant me patience, grant me serenity,
To love the 'me', others don't see.

Light both candles and say-

As Light sparks truth and so, ends inner fear,
May only goodness shine through here.

Now place the crystal in both hands and with the right hand place it over the heart and hold it there:
The rose has ever been for Love,
May I gain grace, like wing to dove,
Love I hold; may it not grow cold,
Some have come, yet there have been few-
Give me a lover I can show love to!

Pull down the circle, when ready, ground yourself. Let love come into your life!

As we become more intune with Earth's circles, and with our own. What better way lately than to welcome in the Spring....The start of spring awakens the animals and plants, so we do also! Spring is a time of Love. The Goddess representation of this is Venus. A great time to do this ritual, is today or tommorrow; it's best to see what your doing, so do it in daylight if you can!

Welcoming the Spring By Roni Jay from the book of Goddesses

"If you are tuned into the seasons you can tell when spring arrives. There will be one day where you step outside, breathe in and can-literally smell change in the air. Look out for this day, breathing the air deeply each morning, so you know when it arrives.

To welcome the Spring-

Take a packet of seeds (that to you represent the Goddess Venus) Plants associated with love are a good choice, like love-in-a-mist (Nigella damascena). Empty the seeds into a scallop shell (a symbol of Venus) and sprinkle them on the ground in a place you want them to grow."

Other associations of Venus (Roman Goddess) -

April/Friday. Abalone stone.
Herbs/plants- Rosemary, Rose, heather, marjoram, cinnamon, blackberry, birch and apple.
Candle colour-pink.
Aphrodite- (Greek)

You may want to plant some forget-me-nots in this ritual.

Merry Imbolc,
Let the light be with you always! BB.

We're in the year of the Rabbit! I know we've got those in flood parts of the world, I hope you're safe and praying you'll get the aid and help that's needed.

Chinese Astrology

HISTORY CHINESE ASTROLOGY

* Chinese Astrology is more than 2,000 years old.
* Originally, astrology and astronomy were inseparable.
* Practitioners were always present as officials of the imperial court.
* Astrology was also used to show what would even happen to a nation.
* By the time of the Tand Dynasty (618-907) a whole encyclopedia had been written about how to give astrology readings for people.

ORIGINS OF THE ANIMAL SIGNS

* The real origin of the animal signs in Chinese astrology is not clear.
* Legend suggests the creation is attributed to the Yellw Emperor in 2637 B.C.
* The Yellow Emperor is a semi-mythical figure.
* Another legend attributes Buddha c.563-c.483 B.C, with the creation of the animal cycle.
* Buddha had invited all the animals to visit him but only twelve turned up.
* To show thanks, Buddha dedicated a year to each animal throughout history.
* The years were allocated in the order the animals arrived.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Chinese New Year begins on the second New Moon after the Winter Soltice, so it's a different day for each year. For example, in the year 1996, the Chinese New Year started on February 19th. In 1997, the Chinese New Year started on February 7th. Fifteen days laster, the Lantern Festival is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying lanterns in a parade.

The Chinese calendar is based on a combination of lunar and solar movements. The lunar cycle is about 29.5 days. In order to "catch up" with the solar calendar the Chinese insert an extra month once every few years (seven years out of a 19-yearcycle). This is the same as adding an extra day on leap year. This is why, according to the solar calendar, the Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving.

The celebration was traditionally highlighted with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth, the gods of the household and the family ancestors. The sacrifice to the ancestors, the most vital of all the rituals, united the living members with those who had passed away. Departed relatives are remembered with great respect because they were responsible for laying the foundations for the fortune and glory of the family. The presence of the ancestors is acknowledged on New Year's Eve with a dinner arranged for them at the family banquet table. The spirits of the ancestors, together with the living, celebrate the onset of the New Year as one great community. The communal feast called "surrounding the stove" or weilu. It symbolizes family unity and honors the past and present generations.

The first day of the Lunar New Year is "the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth." Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them. On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs. The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law. The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck. On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.

The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success. On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven. The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor. The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system. The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night. On New Year's Day, the Chinese family will eat a vegetarian dish called jai. Although the various ingredients in jai are root vegetables or fibrous
vegetables, many people attribute various superstitious aspects to them:

* Lotus seed - signify having many male offspring
* Ginkgo nut - represents silver ingots
* Black moss seaweed - is a homonym for exceeding in wealth
* Dried bean curd is another homonym for fulfillment of wealth and happiness
* Bamboo shoots - is a term which sounds like "wishing that everything would be well"
* Fresh bean curd or tofu is not included as it is white and unlucky for New Year as the color signifies death and misfortune.
* Whole fish - togetherness and abundance
* Chicken for prosperity. The chicken must be presented with a head, tail and feet to symbolize completeness.
* Noodles should be uncut, as they represent long life.

In south China, the favorite and most typical dishes were nian gao, sweet steamed glutinous rice pudding and zong zi (glutinous rice wrapped up in reed leaves), another popular delicacy. In the north, steamed-wheat bread (man tou) and small meat dumplings were the preferred food. The tremendous amount of food prepared at this time was meant to symbolize abundance and wealth for the household.

Prior to New Year's Day, Chinese families decorate their living rooms with vases of pretty blossoms, platters of oranges and tangerines and a candy tray with eight varieties of dried sweet fruit. On walls and doors are poetic couplets, happy wishes written on red paper. These messages sound better than the typical fortune cookie messages. For instance, "May you enjoy continuous good health" and "May the Star of Happiness, the Star of Wealth and the Star of Longevity shine on you" are especially positive couplets. The entire house should be cleaned before New Year's Day.

On New Year's Eve, all brooms, brushes, dusters, dust pans and other cleaning equipment are put away. Sweeping or dusting should not be done on New Year's Day for fear that good fortune will be swept away. After New Year's Day, the floors may be swept. Beginning at the door, the dust and rubbish are swept to the middle of the parlor, then placed in the corners and not taken or thrown out until the fifth day. At no time should the rubbish in the corners be trampled upon. In sweeping, there is a superstition that if you sweep the dirt out over the threshold, you will sweep one of the family away. Also, to sweep the dust and dirt out of your house by the front entrance is to sweep away the good fortune of the family; it must always be swept inwards and then carried out, then no harm will follow. All dirt and rubbish must be taken out the back door. Bringing In the New Year and Expelling the Old.

Shooting off firecrackers on New Year's Eve is the Chinese way of sending out the old year and welcoming in the New Year. On the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, every door in the house, and even windows, have to be open to allow the old year to go out.

All debts had to paid by this time. Nothing should be lent on this day, as anyone who does so will be lending all the year. Back when tinder and flint were used, no one would lend them on this day or give a light to others. Everyone should refrain from using foul language and bad or unlucky words. Negative terms and the word "four" (Ssu), which sounds like the word for death, are not to be uttered. Death and dying are never mentioned and ghost stories are totally taboo. References to the past year are also avoided as everything should be turned toward the New Year and a new beginning. If you cry on New Year's day, you will cry all through the year. Therefore, children are tolerated and are not spanked, even though they are mischievous. Personal Appearance and Cleanliness On New Year's Day, we are not suppose to wash our hair because it would mean we would have washed away good luck for the New Year. Red clothing is preferred during this festive occasion.
Red is considered a bright, happy color, sure to bring the wearer a sunny and bright future. It is believed that appearance and attitude during New Year's sets the tone for the rest of the year. Children and unmarried friends, as well as close relatives are given lai see, little red envelopes with crisp one dollar bills inserted, for good fortune.

For those most superstitious, before leaving the house to call on others, the Almanac should be consulted to find the best time to leave the home and the direction which is most auspicious to head out. The first person one meets and the first words heard are significant as to what the fortunes would be for the entire year. It is a lucky sign to see or hear songbirds or red-colored birds or swallows. It is considered unlucky to greet anyone in their bedroom so that is why everyone, even the sick, should get dressed and sit in the living room. Do not use knives or scissors on New Year's Day as this may cut off fortune. While many Chinese people today may not believe in these do's and don'ts, these traditions and customs are still practiced. These traditions and customs are kept because most families realize that it is these very traditions, whether believed or not, that provide continuity with the past and provide the family with an identity.

FIVE ELEMENTS

Each animal has a predominant natural element that rules over them.

There are five elements:

* Wood - Personal growth, health and a concern for living things.
* Fire - Filled with energy, but also restless
* Earth - Leadership qualities, but can also mean someone who is never satisfied.
* Metal - Quiet, contained, and capable of understanding evil.
* Water - Flexible and capable of deep thoughts.

There are no earth elements in correspondance to an animal sign because earth occupies the center of all elements. In addition to each animal having a natural element, each individual year has a presiding element. In some years, the year element is in sympathy with the animal's element, in other years it will work against. So in the non-sympathetic years, an animal might have to overcome more obstacles that the year encompasses.
