Lepidolite is a purple or lavender type of mica. It is a very beautiful though fragile mineral. Like other micas, Lepidolite is composed of layered sheets and is often found as large plates or "books." It may also be found in the form of granular masses. Sheets of this gemstone consist of lithium aluminum silicate and are held together by potassium ions. It can be found in forms hard enough to carve into eggs and spheres, though most Lepidolite is likely to crumble or break apart. Lepidolite is often found associated with other minerals, such as spodumene, quartz, amblygonite, feldspar, and tourmaline. Deposits of this stone have been found in Brazil's Ural Mountains, Russia; California; and Tanco Pegmatite at Bernic Lake in Manitoba, Canada and Madagascar. Because it is not really considered a gemstone, it has only been within the last decade that Lepidolite has become more readily available and found in mass quantities on the markets.
Lithium rich Lepidolite is a major source of the element lithium, which in turn has many applications and uses. For instance, lithium is used in rechargeable batteries, alloys for aircraft parts, and appliances like toasters and microwave ovens. Lithium compounds are used in mobile phones, air purifiers, high-temperature lubricants, and mood-stabilizing drugs. In addition, Lepidolite varieties that are enriched in rubidium or cesium serve as important sources for these rare alkali metals.
Lepidolite was discovered in the eighteenth century and originally known as Lilalite, from the Hindu word 'lila' meaning play or game. By those who use gemstones for healing, Lepidolite is referred to by healers as the Peace Stone. It is thought to bring deep emotional healing, soothing and reducing stress and depression. It encourages independence, self love and trust. Lepidolite combines its power of objectivity with direction and unimpeded communication, focusing on what is important; making it an excellent stone for business pursuits.
Lepidolite is rarely ever made into jewelry; instead it is often carried for various magickal uses. Take care when cleansing your Lepidolite as the use of salt water may cause it to break or fall apart.
Calming
A calming stone, Lepidolite is great for relieving stress and depression. It aids in overcoming any kind of emotional or mental dependency, supporting in the release of addictions and complaints of all kinds, including anorexia.
If you're going through any kind of stressful experiences, Lepidolite can help you to feel stable and grounded. Further more, it can help people to reorganize their old ways or habits of thinking and acting so that they can meet the challenge of change.
Hold a piece of Lepidolite, taking note of it's softness and its purple-pink hue. Imagine that you are being filled with the energies of love and wisdom. Say to yourself:
"Love and wisdom walk with me on my path."
Healing
Lepidolite can be laid directly on painful parts of the body to help facilitate healing.
Lepidote is reputed to strengthen the immune system, sore muscles and fatigue, Wrinkles, Tight muscles, soothe the nervous system and can be used to restructure DNA. It can relieve allergies and greatly help with epilepsy and Alzheimers. It numbs sciatica and neuralgia, and overcomes joint problems. Lepidolite stabilizes mood swings and is excellent for the menopause.
Negative Emotions
Lepidolite also soothes anger, hatred and a variety of other negative emotions. Simply hold the stone in your receptive hand for a few moments while breathing deeply.
To help calm or quiet the house, place Lepidolite stones in a circle around a pink candle.
Carry for good luck, though be warned its protective properties against negativity aren't very strong.
Pieces of pink tourmaline embedded in Lepidolite have been found to be useful in promoting love or claming negative emotions that upset relationships. For this reason, it can be seen as a stone of reconciliation.
Anti-Nightmare
To help promote restful sleep and ward off nightmares, keep or place Lepidolite near the headboard.
Psychic Awareness
To help increase psychic awareness, place a large piece of Lepidolite on your alter between yellow and blue candles during meditation.
Lepidolite facilitates astral travel and accesses the Akashic Record. It helps to take you forward into the future, tuning you in to thoughts and feelings from other lives that are creating a blockage in your life now.

When it comes to that moment of Spiritual enlightenment … that moment
we find ourselves atop the mountain … that place we have been
searching for our whole lives … that place we believe to be at the end
of our path … it’s not about that moment at the top … it’s about
our journey getting there.
It’s how we walked the path on the way… how we carried ourselves…
the lives we touched… and the changes we made in ourselves.
It’s not a race … and not a competition.. it’s not about being
better than anyone else .. it’s about your own growth.
On the way to that mountain top… what did you learn?

When you look out at the view and see the path you walked… what do you
see? How do you feel?
