Dear Karen,

Republican elected officials across the country are using the pretext of
a budget crisis to push through an extremist agenda that does nothing to
fix our economy. You can see this in Madison, Wisconsin and you can see
it in Washington, DC.

For too long, conservatives have dominated the debate over the economy.
But now they've gone too far. And progressives need to stand up together
and say "Enough!"

That is why this Saturday we're joining with our friends at MoveOn and
dozens of progressive organizations in one massive, nationwide display
of progressive solidarity for Wisconsin.

We've joined with allies across the country to organize rallies in major
cities --- including every state capital --- this Saturday at noon.

We'll speak out to demand an end to the attacks on public services and
workers' rights across the country. We'll demand investment to create
decent jobs. And we'll demand that the rich and powerful pay their fair
share.

*Will you join us Saturday at noon? Sign up to join your local rally
here.

It's up to us to make sure the amazing energy in Wisconsin spreads to
the rest of the country, so that those who claim we can cut our way out
of the economic mess created by Wall Street don't win the day.

But to make that happen, progressives around the country need to stand
up right away and speak out against the far-right attacks on public
services and workers.

Republicans are launching Wisconsin-style attacks on workers in other
states. And in Washington, Republicans are threatening to shut the
government down next week unless Democrats agree to massive cuts to
everything from NPR to education to food aid for hungry children. This
is our chance to shift the debate and put Republicans like Wisconsin
Governor Scott Walker and his tea party friends in Washington on the
defensive.

We've come together with a huge coalition of progressive organizations
--- from the Netroots to the labor movement, environmental groups to
community organizations --- to back these rallies and make sure that the
folks in Wisconsin know that millions of people across the country are
standing with them.

*Can you join in at the local rally Saturday? Click here to find the
rally nearest you and RSVP.

The Primitive Conservative Psyche VS Mother Rule

The battles against the anti-democratic Right in Wisconsin, Ohio,
Indiana, and elsewhere are being fought to prevent conservatives from
remaking America in the image of their moral worldview.

Berkeley professor and author George Lakoff advises us to see more
deeply into the psychology of this crisis. We need to understand, he
writes, how the conservative belief in individual responsibility, to the
exclusion of social responsibility, is based on the model of the
strict-father family.

According to this model, the father's role in the family as Decider and
moral authority is required to teach kids right from wrong.
Conservatives claim that father's superior moral guidance is needed,
along with physical punishment if necessary, so kids can develop the
discipline to become morally responsible adults.

Why do conservatives think that father knows best? Psychoanalysis can
provide insight.

According to psychoanalysis, the superego, also known as the inner
critic or inner aggression, typically assumes an authoritarian, even a
tyrannical, stance within our psyche. The superego is an aggressive
drive that can function as an inner disciplinarian. However, it is
usually negative and irrational. In less evolved individuals, the
superego often decides what is right and wrong. But it makes this
distinction for the sake of fulfilling its function, which is to
exercise inner authority. It is not interested in, nor can it even
distinguish, what is truly right or wrong.

In their psychological naiveté, however, conservatives interpret the
oppressive, impersonal superego as a guiding voice of inner conscience.

When people are inwardly weak and unaware, the superego can have the run
of their psyche and dominate their personality. Often, it is critical,
ruthless, mocking, and unforgiving. It frequently overpowers what little
sense of autonomy and personal authority many people possess.

Unwittingly, conservatives plant their soul in the impersonal authority
of the superego. Hence, they are enamored of the power of the
impersonal, as evidenced by their emotional alignment with corporations,
the market, and the military. These three impersonal forces impose their
values and authority without interference from citizens, as when the
alleged self-regulating "invisible hand" of the marketplace destroys the
environment.

Conservatives distrust government because it is personal, not
impersonal. Government is the voice and protector of the people. But the
people are not supposed to have a voice. Only some "higher" impersonal
law or representative of that law (father figure) is allowed to decide
the right approach to life's big issues. Just as children of
conservatives must submit passively to the father, we adults are not
supposed to have a mind of our own. We are not expected to grow in human
consciousness.

Ideally, democratic governments express human consciousness at its best.
This is the wise guiding authority that represents and protects us. But
human consciousness is a discredited term in the conservative lexicon.
That's because on an inner level, the consciousness of rigid
conservatives is frozen in place. Global warming can't defrost it
because "higher" authority hasn't factored in that game-changing
scenario. In addition, the superego, the conservative mind's Decider, is
hostile to our progress and completely indifferent to our suffering and
self-defeat.

Hence, the superego has no capacity for empathy. Yet empathy is a
quality of higher consciousness, as well as the basis of American
democracy. Empathy is built into the principle of one person, one vote.
When each person's vote counts, each person is respected and valued.
Democracy is an evolved system that practices equality and justice.
Democracy is supportive of each person being strong and happy, and it's
not threatened when labor collectives possess bargaining rights. When it
comes to power, the more the merrier.

Conservatives believe the government should not provide health care,
environmental protection, and other forms of public service. That gives
too much respect and power to everybody. They rationalize their lack of
empathy by claiming that the poor deserve their poverty because they are
responsible for their own failings. But the poor haven't necessarily
failed. Perhaps they're doing well with the poor cards they were dealt.
We're the lesser ones if our hearts are closed. So we have no business
being judgmental. But the superego's specialty is being judgmental.

Conservatives' mental gymnastics for disrespecting the poor enable them
to practice guilt-free ruthlessness while feeling morally superior,
which is precisely the stance adopted by the superego. The superego
clings to its power like a dictator as it tries to keep down human
consciousness. Meanwhile, the conservative embrace of individualism is
derived from the righteousness and arrogance of the superego as a power
onto itself.

The conservative mentality rests on this primitive aspect of human
nature. How tragic for America and the world if it were to prevail!

Self-knowledge is power, and knowledge of the oppressor's inner
corruption is power to the people.

: Earth Dodges Spectacular Blast

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:34 pm (PST)

Space Weather News for Feb. 24, 2011
http://spaceweather.com

SPECTACULAR BLAST: A massive cloud of plasma exploded over the eastern limb of the sun this morning (Feb. 24th around 0730 UT), heralding the approach of a new active region. The spectacular blast, which produced strong radio emissions, a coronal mass ejection, and an M3-class solar flare, was not Earth-directed. Future eruptions could be, however, as the sun's rotation turns the blast site toward our planet in the days ahead. Check http://spaceweather.com for images and movies.

Ah, Spring is around the corner. But alas, it certainly doesn't seem like that outside. Another snow storm hit last night and the uncovered ground that my dog was enjoying all week is now a foot deep in that white stuff we are getting quite used to this winter.
Well, there are ways to enhance our lives when we feel challenged physically, emotionally and spiritually. Hopefully one of the exciting upcoming events can add to your lives.

Warm Winter Blessings, Junie Moon

Keep Your Health!
Staying healthy is so much more enjoyable and easy to maintain compared to getting your health back when you lose it! As I recover from the flu and now have my asthma kicking in I am reminded how being sick sucks and how it takes so little to maintain wellness.
Let'see...acupuncture, massage, yummy nutritious food, moderate exercise that you enjoy, and good times with friends all support happiness and well-being. Certainly better than pain, loss of work from illness, doctor bills and medicines that can give you side effects.

So to support YOU in your health and wellness choices, I am beginning the wellness acupuncture package deal. I am offering package specials. Buy five acupuncture sessions and receive 5% off. Buy 10 get 10%off. That's a whole treatment for free. It can even be used for massage!

Green Medicine For Our Planet Psychic Fair, March 11, Butler NJ

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:53 pm (PST)

Good Morning Bright Ones,

I hope this email finds you all well! While we wait for the snow to melt, know that Spring is very near! Even though I love the winter, I admit that I am very ready for Spring to grace our area :)

There are some wonderful new beginnings about to bud at Peaceful Paths, and I am excited to see those sweet, little green shoots surfacing from our Great Mother Earth. One of those buds is this Saturday's Psychic Fair at Peaceful Paths from 12-6pm. Readings and Sessions are being offered at 15 minutes for $15. I will be offering tarot readings, smudging ceremonies, and chakra clearing/rebalancing ceremonies. Shake off the winter energy and come revitalize and renew yourself! Appointments are recommended and walk-in's are welcome. Please call either Peaceful Paths at 973-283-9444, dove@peacefulpaths.comor me at 862-268-3213, swiftwindtherapy@gmail.comto make an appointment.

On Friday March 11th, I will be facilitating a circle for Green Medicine For Our Planet. This circle came about through Spirit's calling to aid the transformation of our planet and all who live on this planet. Come join us in this sacred work! Please RSVP to me to reserve your spot as seating is limited. General details are below.

Swiftwind Therapy is going through many new changes. One of those changes is I am now creating feather fans, handmade incense, and magickal healing tea blends! Each item is shamanically charged and blessed. All these products are making their way online at www.swiftwindtherapy.wordpress.com/productsand "in-person" at Peaceful Paths in Butler, NJ!

This is a time for profound healing, for creating heaven on earth, for making your dreams come true, and for community to gather as a united force of Love to ripple healing through our planet and galaxy and beyond. If you are looking for a workshop, circle, or service that you have yet to find, please let me know and I'll do my best to help guide you in the direction of your choosing :)

In Love and Harmony,
~Denise~

* * * * * * * Green Medicine For Our Planet Psychic Fair, March 11, Butler NJ

Friday, March 11th, 2011
7:00pm â€" 9:00pm
Peaceful Paths, 7 High Street, Butler, NJ 07405
Love Donation: $25.00 (sliding scale available)

Green represents life. This is the kind of transformative energy and magick that our planet is in need of. We witness the disharmony of our People â€" disconnected and crying for help. The Animal Nations â€" their homes being invaded and destroyed by our People. The Rooted Ones â€" whose Medicine is carelessly uprooted and forgotten. The Four Elements in Nature (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) â€" echoing the disharmony in our weather patterns.

What can we do to help? By working with a united intent in community, great healing shifts and magick happens. When we are able to connect to our omnipotent life force energy, and engage with the Mysteries of Life on this planet, a powerful combination of Love, Birth, and Transcendence ensues. We will gather this night to help create a harmonic shift within ourselves and our planet. Through ceremony, sacred dance and song, we will understand what each one of us can do to help and together create a new ‘code of harmony’ for our community.

Please RSVP to Denise Saracco at swiftwindtherapy@gmail.comor 862-268-3213 to reserve your spot!
Please bring drums/rattles, a pillow/blanket to lie on, a bottle of water, an eyeshade, a notebook/pen to journal your experiences, and your Divine self!

Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

February 24, 2011
Bringing Out The Best
Checks And Balances
The traits we notice in others, both good and bad, can be opportunities for us to understand ourselves more deeply.

Most of us have probably come across the universal wisdom that the people who irritate us the most are expressing qualities that we ourselves have. This is why family members can be so vexing for so many of usâ€"we see ourselves in them, and vice versa. This isn’t always true, of course, but when it is, it’s a real opportunity for growth if we can acknowledge it, because it is infinitely easier to change ourselves than it is to try to change another person, which is never a good idea. For example, if we have a coworker who engages in some kind of negative behavior, like complaining or trying to control everything, we can look and see if we ourselves carry those traits.

We may have to look to other situations in our lives to see it, because we behave differently in different environments. Perhaps we don’t complain at work, because our coworker overdoes it, but maybe we do it with our friends. Maybe we aren’t controlling at the office, but we’re used to being in control at home, and this is why we feel so irritated not to be in control at work. Even if we look and find that we are not engaging in the same behavior that we see as negative in others, we can still learn from what we are seeing in this person. The truth is, human nature is universal, and we share many of the same tendencies. What we see in others can always help us to understand ourselves more deeply.

Having the ability to see something in another person, and automatically bring this observation back to ourselves, is like having a built-in system of checks and balances that enables us to be continually engaged in self-exploration and behavior change. When we see behavior we don’t like, we can make a concerted effort to weed it out of ourselves, and when we see behavior we do like, we can let it inspire us to engage in imitation. Through this process, we read our environment and let it influence us to bring out the best in ourselves.

TIME OF THE OLD WOMEN, lasting up to March 4th, & considered dangerous, especially due to the weather. The Koran says the world will end during this time.

Filling the Granary - On the 25th day of the first lunar month, Chinese grain and rice-merchants make sacrifices to the Granary God (Cangshen). In earlier times, this was the day when everyone feasted on mutton, pork and beef. Blackburn, Bonnie and Leofranc Holford-Strevens, Oxford Companion to the Year, Oxford University Press 1999

St Walburga - This sixth century Anglo-Saxon nun, who became the abbess of the double monastery of Heidenheim in Germany, was also known as a grain protectress. She was depicted holding a sheaf of wheat and was considered a matron of good crops, farmers and pregnant women. Sheaves of grain dressed like a woman were called Walburga. A legend tells how she disguised herself in a sheaf of grain while fleeing from a pursuer. Ta'Anith Esther (Israel)

Themes: Kindness; Love; Divination; Foresight
Symbols: Lion; Lilies; a Tree or Pole

About Asherah: Asherah, a Canaanite Goddess of moral strength, offers to lend support and insight when we are faced with inequality or overwhelming odds. In art, she is often depicted simply as an upright post supporting the temple. This is a fitting representation, since her name means "straight." Traditionally, Asherah is a mother figure often invoked at planting time, embodying a kind of benevolent, fertile energy that can reinforce just efforts and good intentions. Beyond this she is also an oracular Goddess, specifically for predicting the future.

To Do Today: In Israel, this festival commemorates Esther's strength and compassion in pleading with King Ahasuerus to save her people held captive in Persia. It is a time of prayer when one looks to the divine to instill similar positive attributes within us. For help in this quest, we turn to Asherah with this simple prayer:

Lady, make me an instrument of kindness and mercy; let my words be gentle and true, my actions motivated by insight and fairness. Where there is prejudice, let me be the bearer of tolerance. Where there is uncertainty, let me share your vision. Where there is disharmony, let me sow love. Amen.

Scottish Song About The Hag Goddess

Her face had the black-blue shine of coal.
Her one bony tooth was red like rust.
her hair was think and dense and gray
like brushwood in a dying forest.
In her head was one eye like a pool,
swifter than a star in the winter sky.
That one stone eye in the hag's head
moved quicker than mackerel after a lure.

Scottish Song About The Hag Goddess

In North Africa, this day begins the Time of the Old Woman, a period of dangerous weather. In Scotland, too, this was the time old woman of winter was said to chase the new spring across the land.

Inevitably, the Spring Goddess won, and the old one was turned into a huge boulder.

Inevitably, too, our lives change. We too have our seasons: youth, midlife, age. And within those seasons, we have weather: good times and bad ones, and times when we just hang on. We have storms and calm periods, tempests and balmy warmth. We have sunny days when nothing seems like it can possibly go wrong, and then a rain of tears when life takes from us what we've cherished.

During sunny times, enjoy and be thankful. During bad weather, endure and remember that however chill the winter, spring always follows.

Spell Against Theft

Spell Against Theft
.
Now that the crocuses begin to carpet lawns with their color, it is a good time for a spell
to protect against theft. Ancient magicians burned crocus petals, hoping the smoke would reveal the face of thieves. To protect your home
against a thief, in a small dish combine the flowers of three crocus
flowers, a teaspoon of dried basil, and a generous dash of black pepper. Sprinkle this mixture outside your home, moving around the building in a clockwise direction. Repeat this charm three times as you go:

Crocus for protection, Basil to purify,
Pepper to sting.
Let no thief penetrate this ring.

Repeat this fair charm again in one year.
