Rejuvenating the Soul Spell

Rejuvenating the Soul Spell

When you are down and feel life is going nowhere, go to your sacred
space or a room where you are comfortable. Light up the surroundings with a
multicolored nurturing glow using seven candles of seven different
colors. Ensure the candles are placed in secure holders before arranging them
in a circle on a bare table. It is essential that all windows are shut and
that you keep an eye on the candles once they are lit. Sit or recline near
the table, meditate for a few moments, and feel the candlelight
replenishing your soul. This ritual can also be used when you feel lonely or
worried. Visualize the colors surrounding you with warmth, radiant health, and
strength. See yourself overcoming your problems and solving your problems.

The China Guide

Who has not wanted to go to Beijing to tour the Forbidden City! Thanks to the Internet, that tour is only a click away. The developer, Peter Danford, began 'helping travelers discover China interactively' as early as 2000 when he was living in Shanghai. He has posted the Forbidden City Historical Tour in Images and also has included a panorama so that the cyber visitor can have a 360 degree presentation of the area. In addition to the Forbidden City, the visitor can also take cyber tours of Tiananmen Square, The Gate of Heavenly Peace, The Summer Palace, The Marco Polo Bridge, to name a few of the features. Here's a great way to tour China from the comfort of your arm chair; certainly a lot less expensive than the air fare to Beijing!

The Upside of Irritation
Things That Annoy Us

There will always be factors and people that we cannot control; how we respond can determine the quality of our lives.

There are many stories of spiritual masters embracing the presence of an annoying student in their community. There is even one story that documents a teacher paying an irritating person to live among his students. From an everyday perspective, this is difficult to comprehend. We generally work hard to avoid people and things that we find annoying so they don't bother us.

From a deeper spiritual perspective, however, irritation can be an important teacher and indicator that we are making progress on our path. Being able to remain centered and awake even when we feel uncomfortable is much more impressive than doing so in an environment where everything is to our liking. No matter how good we are at controlling our circumstances, there will always be factors and people that we cannot control. How we respond to these experiences to a great degree determines the quality of our lives. The goal of spiritual development is not to learn to control our environment—which is more of an ego-driven desire. And while having some measure of control over our external reality is important, it is when we are confronted with a person or situation that irritates us and we can choose not to react that we know have made progress spiritually. It is when we have mastered our internal reality that we will have become the masters of our lives.

The more we try to eliminate annoyances, instead of learning to handle them gracefully, the further we get from developing the qualities that come with spiritual growth, such as patience, tolerance, and acceptance. It is often in the presence of people and experiences we find annoying that we have an opportunity to develop these qualities. Fortunately for most of us, our lives offer an abundance of opportunities to practice and cultivate these traits.

TODAY´S TIP: ADOPTION & RESCUE | May 2, 2011

Give Wisely When Helping Disaster-Affected Animals
by JaneA Kelley, Cat expert and animal communicator, Paws and Effect

It's an unfortunate truth that in the aftermath of natural disasters, scammers bloom like parasitic weeds in the landscape of legitimate rescue efforts. To make sure your money will get where it needs to go, donate to known charities or to local/regional organizations you know. For other nonprofits, do your research by using tools like Guidestar or Charity Navigator, or even a Google search to see if the org. exists. If you get a call or email asking for donations, either don't respond or say you're giving directly to the nonprofit the solicitor supposedly represents. More information is available through Charity Navigator's Tips For Giving in Times of Crisis page.

Cat expert and animal communicator JaneA Kelley is the webmaster and chief cat slave for Paws and Effect, a weekly cat advice column by cats, for cats and their people.

My group began our celebration at sunset on Beltane Eve. We feasted, drummed, danced, and had fun early into the hours of Beltane. Around noon, we held our Beltane Ritual, which included about 40 guests from different covens. We partied into the early morning hours of today. We had was a wonderful, lusty, bawdy time.
