Healing With Color Magick

By Anja Heij

In healing colors act as balancers: we administer the color(s) someone

Needs more of, or we give the opposite of the color someone has too much

Of. Why should the body need color suppletion? Healthy people are in

Tune with their ground-tune, what means that they vibrate on their own

Unique frequency. Their aura - the invisible energy bodies - will keep

Them in balance by attracting the right cosmic forces for their physical

Body. When people get stressed, shocked, frightened or ill-treated their

Aura becomes damaged. These energetic power fields become thin, show

Dark spots or lesions, what keeps the aura from proper working. The

Result is that you adapt a different frequency, and you will feel

Uncomfortable or get sick. Here the healing qualities of light come in.

Each color has a particular wavelength; by administering a certain color

We strengthen the aura to repair itself and return to its original

Ground-tune. The physical effect is healing of the body.

Yellow

Stimulates brain and nervous activity. Energizes the muscles. Speeds up

The digestion and assimilation, and the stool. Activates and cheers up

Depressed and melancholic people. Dark yellow soothes pains in the

Nerves (shooting pains). Gives lust for life.

Orange

Stimulates the lungs, the respiration and the digestion. Increases the

Activity of the thyroid. Reliefs muscle cramps and spasms. Increases the

Amount of mother milk. Shows new possibilities and other options in

Life. Stimulates creative thinking and enthusiasm.

Red

Brings warmth, energy and stimulation, therefore good for energy,

Fatigue, colds, chilly and passive people. Red energizes heart and blood

Circulation, it builds up the blood and heightens a low blood pressure.

Energizes all organs and the senses hearing, smell, taste, vision and

Touch. Increases sexual desire and activity. Stimulates ovulation and

Menstruation. Never treat cancer with red, because this color will

Stimulate cell growth!

Magenta

Strengthens contact with your life purpose. Stimulates adrenaline and

Heart activity. Builds up the aura.

Pink

Heals grief and sadness. Restores youthfulness. Brings you in contact

With your feelings.

Green

Brings psychological and emotional harmony and balance; therefore it

Works calming on the heart and healing on the kidneys (astrological

Associated with relationships) . It cures hormonal imbalances. Stimulates

Growth hormone and rejuvenation. Cleans and purifies from germs,

Bacteria and rotting material. Harmonizes the digestion, stomach, liver,

Gall. Increases immunity. Builds up muscles, bones and tissues.

Stimulates inner peace. Strengthens the nervous system.

Turquoise

Increases intuition and sensitivity. Works disinfecting and antiseptic.

Tones the general system. Builds the skin. Relaxes sensations of stress.

Blue

Cools down inflammations (don't forget rheumatic inflammations) , fever,

High blood pressure, stops bleedings, reliefs the bursting headaches,

Calms strong emotions like anger, aggression or hysteria. Works

Disinfecting and antiseptic. Brings tranquility. Anti-itching.

Anti-irritation (for instance redness of the skin), anti-stress. Soothes
Suffering.

Violet/Purple

This color of transformation heals melancholy, hysteria, delusions and

Alcohol addiction, it brings spiritual insights and renewal. Slows down

An over-active heart. Stimulates the spleen and the white blood cells

(immunity). Brings sleep. Soothes mental and emotional stress. Decreases

Sexual activity. Decreases sensitivity to pain. Detoxification.

Note: color healing should be regarded as complementary healing; please

Be wise and always consult a doctor!

Practical use of color healing

Colored light can be obtained by using colored bulbs in lamps, or

Covering a lamp or window with a transparent colored (plastic) sheet, or

By colored dials in a projector. What you do is sit or lie in the stream

Of colored light for about 30 minutes during several days.

You can hang up (silk) pieces of cloth or paper sheets in the desired

Color in the room.

You can fill colored glasses or bottles with (spring)water, place it in

The window for at least three hours and drink three glasses a day of

This water.

You can wear clothes in certain colors.

You can eat food in certain colors. Need more energy: eat tomatoes and

Strawberries; want mental clarity: bananas and corn, etc.

You can visualize colored light in and around your body, breathe it in

And direct it to the body-parts that need it.

Wear jewelry with gemstones in the colors you need.

Visit places in nature that match your need of colors. For calmness go

To water, for balance go to the woods, for energy buy red flowers, etc.

Of course a combination of the above works best

Distant color healing can be done in several ways.

Take a photograph, or piece of paper with full address and date of birth

Of the person you wish to help healing. Expose this to colored light as

described above, for 1,5 to 2 hours a day on successive days.

Or put this photograph is an envelope or piece of cloth in the right

color and expose it to the sun for several hours a day.

A third way is visualizing the person filled up and surrounded by

colored light for as long as you can. Always end with visualizing or

sending white light to the person.

A modern way of color healing is working with a biogenerator. This is a

device sending cosmic energy by means of glass tubes filled with gasses

like helium or hydrogen, each having their own color and healing

properties. This is by Nicola Tesla inspired technology. Several

therapists have reported that the color in the glass tubes even changes

if the patient needs so.

Working with a biogenerator can be done with physically present

patients, but distant healing is also very well possible by for instance

treating through photograph. (This is one of the ways of healing I use
myself)

Talisman Magick

Talismans are as ancient as mankind. Early humans intuitively knew that they

could combine symbols, plants, animal parts, etc., for specific purposes

such as love, wealth, health, success, or protection.

When organized religion began to take over, talismans gained the aspect of

the Divine hierarchies that these religions preached. When such a talisman

worked as expected, followers of these religions saw this as a proof that

their religion was the only true one. Quite often they were oblivious of the

fact that other religious systems also offered talismans that worked. When

there was no longer any denying as to effectiveness of talismans from other

traditions was possible, these objects were simply considered to be evil.

Many talismans are objects that symbolized the powers invoked. The choice of

the object depends on local belief structures and "superstitions" . These

beliefstructures, of course, vary from region to region, from tribe to tribe

In addition, some of these objects had symbols engraved that represented

the forces for help or protection. Again, the symbolisms used in talismans

have always been largely dependent on regional belief structures, main

religion, secondary religions, and "underground religions" alike.

The talisman can be considered to be a magnet that is designed to attract

desired circumstances. Quite often, a talisman has also protective qualities

In this case, it acts passively as an amulet and actively as a talisman.

The planetary talismans that are the object of this course play this dual

role as protectors and activators. One way of understanding the working of a

powerful talisman is to regard it as a battery, or accumulator, of cosmic

energies into which the carrier of the talisman may tap whenever needed.

After having received an initial charge and with this charge the structural

link to the desired action, the talisman will essentially be self-charging

and storing the energy (life energy) until the time when needed. Some very

ancient talismans have been found in tombs, temples, and other places all

over the world. It is very interesting that many of those objects have still

strong charges of psychic power. The "curses" of Egyptian pharaos which

destroyed the robbers of their tombs (if true - theoretically at least that

s possible!) can be seen in this light of being thought forms that

continuously self perpetuate. Personally, I have tuned into many ancient

objects, and very often I was capable to "decipher" the charge that was

given to them, and to determine the purpose they had, even when I had no

idea of the symbolisms that have been used on such objects. Contrary to a

conventional electrical battery, the charge of a talisman seems to be

infinite, provided that it receives a continuous supply of life force. This

supply comes traditionally from the person who is carrying the talisman.

Yet, even with the talisman, there are limitations. Very specific rules have

to be observed if the talisman is to be the carrier of that which it is

supposed to bring. Sometimes potential interferences have to be calculated

and dealt with, perhaps by making a special talisman for that purpose! Each

talisman should be designed and charged individually for the purpose it is

supposed to fulfill. An infinite supply of energy alone does not necessarily

mean that the energy does produce what it is expected from the talisman. In

this light, I consider it more useful to see in the talisman more than just

a battery: to see it as a transformer of the psychic energy that is found

everywhere in the universe. This compares perhaps to a prism that disects

white light into its colors. When seen under this aspect, the structure of

the talisman (by way of linking to the specific trend-energy that is needed

to trigger the desired action and cause the desired result to happen)

transforms the psychic energy that is everywhere in its non-shaped state

into well-defined psychic energy that brings the desired results.

There are no limits to the use and envisioned purposes of talismans. The

only limits are found at the boundaries of human desires. As we know, the

realm of human wishing and desiring can be infinite, because regardless how

far a human being may succeed, there is always some goal beyond.

AMULETS are for protection. They serve to defend against demonic, or

negative, forces. Amulets may be used to overcome hostile powers of any kind

Some are made specifically to banish the effects of the "evil eye", and to

protect against poisonous animals.

TALISMANS are designed to draw good circumstances, luck, love, health,

success, power, and wealth. In this category fall also many talismans that

help you achieve spiritual insights, wisdom, knowledge, and psychic powers.

History tells us of many instances in which would-be lovers successfully

went on to harness the energies of talismans, after all other means failed.

Another widely used field of talismans is in business and politics. Success,

power and wealth are pursued by many people. Many of those who made it to

the top are crediting this to one or more specifically designed talismans.

Some talismans are set into houses, for protection and for success of the

inhabitants. Even the structure of houses may follow talismanic principles.

Astrological talismans can be used to counteract shortcomings in an

individual horoscope.

The material of the talisman can be of importance. On the other hand, when I

first learned about talismans, I asked my teacher what the best material

would be for a specific talisman. His answer: "take toilet paper'" With this

he meant that the material is of importance, but that the energy that is

projected into the talisman is of much greater importance than the "proper

matieral" and that there are no ''absolutes' ' in talismanic practice, nor

are there strict dogmas. As long as the talismanologist can establish a link

between the material chosen and the energies desired, the results will be

good, regardless what the material.

Throughout the ages, many materials have been used for talismans. In our

times, the preferred materials are precious and semi precious stones, clay

tablets, wooden tablets, metal tablets, paper, and parchment. Jewelry is

often designed function as talismans or amulets. Statues, especially of gods

and saints, are considered to work as talismans. Plants and parts of plants

are used as talismans, and so are parts of animals such as feathers or claws

THE INSCRIPTIONS ON TALISMANS

What makes a talisman powerful is the skill of projecting the appropriate

energies into it. As I mentioned above, the shape and material of the

talisman is not an absolute necessity to consider, but those elements are

extremely helpful to the talismanologist. Especially the symbols used are

very useful in determining the exact nature of the energies that are

projected into the talisman and the results they are expected to bring.

Symbols and writing on the talisman increase its effect, and so does the

material that is chosen according to universal harmonies and correlations.

To put the symbols and writing on a talisman requires a vast knowledge of

symbolisms. In this course, you will learn the basics that are necessary.

These basics will allow you to make talismans for just about every purpose.

If you want to become totally knowledgeable in actually designing talismans

for very specific purposes (such as the love talisman of Catherine de Medici

which I mentioned above), you need to become thoroughly acquainted with

symbolics, cabbalah, astrology, numerology, Runic wisdom, and many other

metaphysical disciplines. On many talismans, you find the names of gods,

angels, demons, planetary spirits, and other entities

(energies of a higher order). Inscriptions are often wishes written in an

ancient language. Often you find psalms written around talismans. In

addition, you find seals, or symbols, that represent the energies of the

beings which are part of the enerqetic make up of the talisman. You also

find pentagram, hexagram, the seals of the archangels, planetary

intelligences, genii, devas, etc. Very important are also the planetary

number squares, often referred to as "magical squares". These numeric

squares are generators of the energies of the planet which they represent.

There is the possibility of combining the energies of two or more planets in

one square.

The chosen material is usually in tune with the planet which rules over the

desired effect of the talisman: gold (or bronze) for the Sun, silver for the

Moon, brass for mercury, tin for Jupiter, copper for Venus, etc. An

important factor is the choice of the best time(s) for making the talisman.

The choice of time is based on astrological factors.

Epona

EPONA

Swift traveller, your hair streams behind you

Like a mane. Epona, lady of the stable,

Carry us with you, when you open the door

And fly through to the Otherworld

Epona is a Gaulish goddess whose name gives us our word 'pony' and
derives from Epos, the Celtic word for horse. She is usually portrayed
riding side-saddle, or standing between two foals, feeding them from her
basket with corn and apples and other fruit. She is the protectress of
horses, asses, mules, oxen, other animals, riders and stables. She is
also the sovereign goddess of the land, the fruitful mother, and the
guardian of holy wells and streams.

Among the Celts horses were status symbols, and were never used as lowly
beasts of burden; rather they were the mounts of chieftains and
warriors. Eating their flesh was taboo, as it still is in Britain. It is
no exaggeration to say that the domestication of the horse changed the
face of the world. Horses were invaluable creatures that enabled people
to travel much further and improved communication between distant
places. The Celts were expert cavalrymen, and the horse no doubt aided
them in their westward journey of conquest across Europe.

Epona had a shrine in almost every stable of the Roman Empire, and more
than 343 inscriptions have been found dedicated to her. She was
worshipped throughout Gaul, and found as far afield as Britain, Spain,
Rumania and Yugoslavia. The Romans conscripted cavalry troops from Gaul
and from there, her cult spread throughout the Roman army. She was the
only Celtic goddess to have her own temple in Rome, awarded the feast
day of the 18th December. The Romans worshipped her as Epona Augusta or
Epona Regina. She was invoked to protect the Emperor and had a shrine in
the barracks of the Imperial Bodyguard. Epona existed in other guises
throughout the Celtic world, becoming Rhiannon in Wales and Macha in
Ireland.

Horse cults existed in Britain long before the coming of the Celts. A
Stone Age carving found in Derbyshire [Central England] shows a man in a
horse mask. There are several chalk horse hill-figures in Britain, the
oldest being the one at Uffington in Oxfordshire [Central England]
dating from 1400-600 BCE. The horse represented the spirit of the land
itself. The oldest horse figures are all female and represented the
sovereign goddess, whom the sacred king must marry in order to rule.

In early Ireland, a white mare was instrumental in the bestowing of
kingship. An account as late as the twelfth century CE described the
making of a minor king and how he must be symbolically reborn from a
white mare. Stripped naked he had to crawl on all fours to the mare,
like a foal. The mare was then slaughtered and cut up, the pieces boiled
in a cauldron. The king got into the cauldron to eat pieces of the meat
and drink the both. Finally he stood on the inauguration stone, was
presented with a white wand and turned three times to the right, then
three times to the left 'to honour the trinity'- in the original rites
the trinity honoured would have been the triple sovereign goddess of the
land

For the non-military sections of society, Epona was a mother goddess, an
emblem of fertility, shown with mare and foal. As representative of the
land, she would have been responsible for the harvest. As goddess of
animals, she would have been responsible for their welfare and breeding.

Images of Epona have been found in Celtic graveyards, dedicated by
relatives of the deceased, showing that she was also a protector and
guide of the dead. She carried a key which unlocked both the stable door
and the gates of the Otherworld.[ 1] She is the Queen of the Dead who
rides between the worlds at will, to carry souls to the afterlife. The
Celts believed that the dead rode to the hereafter on horseback,
accompanied by blackbirds and larks.

Epona is the goddess who holds the key that opens the doors between the
worlds, and allows journeys between them in the form of a shamanic
journey. The shaman visualises riding on a horse's back as it gallops
between the realms. Sometimes too, the drum the shaman uses to induce
trance is made of horse-skin, and this is another meaning of 'riding the
horse'.

In her dark form, Epona is the nightmare that preys on sleepers, bringing bad dreams, insomnia and anxiety.

NB: This short article is not from my more comprehensive Goddess Encyclopaedia

Carnelian

Written and compiled by - Patricia Jean Martin

Carnelian is a form of Quartz, the most common form of rock in the
Earth's crust. Specifically, geologists classify Carnelian as a
Chalcedony; a member of the cryptycrystalline or microcrystalline group
within the Quartz family. Cryptocrystalline crystals are too small to
be seen, even with a microscope.

Having the same chemical make up as Agate, when Carnelian grades into
brown it is known as Sard. When it contains bands of white, it is known
as Sardonyx. In addition, some very dark brown Carnelian can be
classified as Jasper. The distinction between these is very fine and
relies more on visual appearance than scientific analysis. As a result,
it is very possible that one man's Carnelian may be another man's Sard,
Agate or Jasper. Chemically, Carnelian is composed of Silicon Dioxide,
SiO2, and gets its red color from Hematite (Iron-Oxide, FeO2)
impurities. Many Carnelians offered today are Agates which are dyed and
then heat treated. Natural Carnelian will usually exhibit a cloudy
distribution of color.

The name Carnelian heralds from the Latin word "carnis" and translates
to "flesh," probably noted as one of the many shades of the stone.
Another name for Carnelian was Cornelian, most likely derived from the
Latin word "cornum" meaning "cherry". Carnelian's translucent color
ranges from yellow-orange to reddish-brown to a deep red, and is
enhanced by exposure to the sun.

Occurring in the cavities of many forms of rock, Carnelian most often
develops from the silica-rich soils which solidified at low
temperatures. It typically forms in nodules, cone-shaped masses or
groups of stalactites which radiate outward from a central axis. India
has some of the oldest Carnelian deposits, especially around Bengal,
Deccan and Ratnapur. Indian Carnelian is most often a very strong
reddish-brown color.

Myths and Lore:

Many sources report that Carnelian be a powerful activator to the second
Chakra, called the Sacral Chakra, which relates to a sense of Self...
along with the five senses, creativity, reproduction, sexuality and
self-gratification.

Carnelians were used in Ancient Egyptian magick as protection for both
the living and the dead. A Carnelian in the form of the "tjet," symbol
of Mother Isis, was placed on the neck of a mummy to ensure the
protection, safe passage, and rebirth of the spirit in the afterlife.
Another Carnelian amulet was the Eye of Horus, which is still believed
to offer protection against the evil eye. In Roman times, Carnelian was
engraved with the head of a lion or a great leader.

Magickal uses of Carnelian include using it as a focus for past life
work and for finding a "twin soul" or family. It is good for all love
and sex rites, especially to rekindle or increase passion that has begun
to fade. Fire magick is also more effective if you circle a red candle
with several Carnelians.

Mentally, Carnelian can improve analytical abilities and can clarify
perception. It removes extraneous thoughts during meditation and
sharpens concentration. Emotionally, this stone is a powerful protector
against envy, rage and esentment... yours or other people's. It calms
anger and banishes negativity, replacing it with a love of life.

Goethe wrote:

"Carnelian is a talisman,

It brings good luck to child and man;

If resting on an onyx ground,

A sacred kiss imprint when found.

It drives away all evil things;

To thee and thine protection brings.

The name of Allah, king of kings,

If graven on this stone, indeed,

Will move to love and doughty need.

From such a gem a woman gains

Sweet hope and comfort in her pains".

Cleanse and charge Carnelian with sunlight. They can be used to dispel negativity from other crystals and stones.

Carnelian is associated with the Zodiac sign of Virgo, but has also been
associated with Taurus, Cancer and Leo. Under the Hebrew, Roman and
Arabic birthstones it is also known as an alternate for August; Peridot
being the traditional.

*NOTE: Stone therapy should NOT take the place of medical evaluation
and procedures, and should be used merely to enhance one's health and
well-being.

My own thoughts and experiences:

I'd read somewhere that if you put a piece of Carnelian under your
tongue, it would make you speak with eloquence and precision. Well, I
tried it, and it didn't make me speak any more eloquently. In fact, the
most it did was to further jumble my words.. (maybe I should have used a
much smaller stone?..lol) .. and the only other thing it afforded me at
that moment was some fun with my tongue twirling around the smooth,
slippery, cool stone I'd placed inside my mouth.

Through the experience though, something more useful came to me. It led
me to think of how it is much too easy for someone to take the vast
array of descriptive words assigned to each rock, crystal or stone, and
to think or hope for some totally different experience from what the
stone will in actuality do for you. For instance, taking the word
"communicative" or the phrase "helps one to communicate better," as
Carnelian is supposed to facilitate. That word or phrase is left open
to blanket interpretations. To one, it may mean to speak one's mind out
loud. To another, it may mean to express oneself better through dance.
And to another it may signify communication through prose...or perhaps
art or music.

Personally, I found that none of the above modes of communication came
to me through the power of Carnelian. What did come to me, though, was
action. Carnelian helps you to communicate bodily..through movement and
inuendo. It makes you incorporate your motions into your everyday
practices... (well okay, it's not everyday that I put a stone in my
mouth), and will stimulate you to find alternate routes to the root..
(*by* perhaps putting a stone in your mouth <g>). This
route-to-the- root method can and will take place through active and
tactile involvement.

There is a sensuality to Carnelian, and it does not hesitate to share
that side of itself with you. Its lightness in weight -- lighter than
any of its other close relatives -- will in turn lighten your emotional
state, decrease stress, and even repel anger, all allowing for a more
creative and attraction (the art of attracting) side of you to blossom.

Carnelian's bright orange color -- being at the same time both warm and
vibrant -- is a mixture of fiery, lusty, and heady passionate red
intermingled within the joyful, bright and stimulating offerings of
yellow. Because it is this seductive combination of these two primary
colors encapsulated in a cloudy nebula-like web inside the stone, it
very readily displays the heated suggestion that two may become one when
they embrace. Therein lies just one of the many sexuality-enhancing
gifts of Carnelian.

So in conclusion.. . In our quick and fast-paced world of instant
everything, do we often enough stop to think that there may be more than
the one or two interpretations that popped into the forefront of our
minds through the implication of this adjective or that? I'd venture to
say most often not. And this is why I believe that it is best to
perform an up-close and personal tête-à-tête and touch with our crystal
companions. And if with them, why not with everything in our lives?
Thank you, Carnelian.

End.

November Full Moon

November Full Moon In November, the
Mourning Moon is upon us. It's also known as the Fog Moon or Snow Moon,
depending on where you live. Some Native American tribes referred to it
simply as The Moon When Deer Shed Antlers (although in most regions it's
more accurate to say they're shedding their velvet - a buck doesn't
usually lose antlers until later in the winter, unless you're very far
north). In the early Celtic society, November was the beginning of the
new year. This is a time of washing away the baggage of
the past and letting it go. Once you've done that, you'll be able to
focus on the joys of the future. During the Mourning Moon phase, say
goodbye to bad habits and toxic relationships, and get a fresh start for
the new year. Work on developing and strengthening your connection with
Deity. November is a time that is between and between as
we move further into the dark of the year. After confronting our own
mortality at Samhain, November is a time to turn inward and examine the
truths (and falsehoods) in our lives to enable us to move forward and
grow. Moon of DescentUse this moon for a shamanic journey.
Allow yourself to descend and discover the well of potential within. A
journey inward brings us deeper inside ourselves and deeper into the
flow of the other realms. When you reach out with your energy you touch
more than you can see.Other names for this moon: Snow Moon, Mourning
Moon, Frosty Moon. Other InformationNovember is the month
of transformation. It is time to prepare for the coming winter and a
time to strengthen communication with the god or goddess closest to you.
The energy flow is taking root and preparing to flow once more. Correspondences:Herbs:

Friday November 19, 2010
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)

Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

Power Animal of the Day: Buffalo

The Buffalo

Endurance
Hidden Talents
Adaptability

Take
a deep breath and let the spirit of the buffalo fill you.

Click here to Listen to the Buffalo's Song.

Welcome the
great and powerful buffalo into your life to be your teacher.

The buffalo
will teach you how to survive, even when the cold wind blows and the snow drifts
across the plains.  He will teach you how to grow a thick coat and hold your
head down in winter, doing what you must, but full of the certain knowledge that
winter will pass and the green grass will again push through to the sunshine of
spring.  And then, when summer comes, he will teach you how to shed that long,
shaggy coat and adapt to the new season.  You will be able to handle whatever
comes your way, strong and capable, comfortable in the cold or in the heat, for
you are the buffalo.

The buffalo
can also teach you the power of the group.  For even though the buffalo is a
very powerful animal in his own right, he is especially powerful as a member of
a group, where the stronger and more experienced actively protect others.  The
buffalo will help you feel more a part of those around you, finding your proper
role, whether it is as a leader and protector or one of those protected.  Either
way, the buffalo energy will help you relate well and easily with others.

Buffalo
energy will also help you find hidden talents and abilities within you.  For the
buffalo, though appearing slow, can actually run very fast and can leap great
heights.  You will surprise us all with your newfound strengths, for you are the
buffalo.

Quado's Garden: Let Life Unfold as it Will

Posted by: "Ash" mhc4sure@yahoo.com   mhc4sure

Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:06 am (PST)

aaaaaaaaaaaa

Let
Life Unfold as it Will

Today is a day to set aside
your
idea of how things should be and instead to deal with life as it is.

Too often, you spend most
of your time comparing each moment with what you had expected, what you had
feared, and what you had wanted.  Each moment is found glorious or wanting in
comparison to this expectation of yours.  And the truth is, each moment simply
is.

And if you will but allow
yourself to deal with life as it is, you will find that it contains far more
than your expectations could ever dream of. You will find that it opens and
blossoms with opportunity and surprise.  Often the lack of surprise in your life
is simply because of the narrow box of expectation you have kept yourself
within.

Open up your world by
releasing all of that.  Today, expect nothing and let life unfold.

KALI

Posted by: "Ash" mhc4sure@yahoo.com   mhc4sure

Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:55 pm (PST)

Source: Jodi

KALI

As you wander through countryside or city,

Feel that you are moving through Kali, Kali, Kali.

All sounds you hear are her natural mantras

Arising spontaneously

As the whole universe worships her,

Prostrates to her, awakens to her.

Ramprasad

Kali ["The Black One"] is the Dark Mother of the Hindu pantheon who both
creates and destroys. Her name comes from the word kala, which means
time, and it is time that will destroy all. Her appearance is awesome:
she has glaring red eyes, her red tongue protrudes from her mouth, a
necklace of severed heads circles her neck, and a belt of severed arms
her waist. Her breasts and face are smeared with blood. She has four
arms, two of which hold a bloody sword and the head of a demon, while
her upper right hand she makes the gesture of fearlessness, and the
lower right hand confers blessings. She dances upon the supine body of
her husband, Shiva, one foot on her thigh and one on his breast.

Like mother goddesses elsewhere, she has the power of both life and
death, and is both womb and tomb for her children, the All Creating and
All Consuming, the gentle mother and fierce avenger. She is the
mysterious source of all life who is worshipped in the cremation
grounds, having banished the fear of death for her worshippers. Hinduism
distinguishes between the benign Kali (dakshina) and the terrible Kali
(smashan) by the position of her feet. If Kali steps out with her right
foot and holds the sword in her left hand, she is a Dakshina Kali. If
she steps out with her left foot and holds the sword in her right hand,
she is the shocking Smashan Kali of the cemetery.

Kali's blackness is significant. All colours merge in black, which
absorbs and dissolves all things, as all things are absorbed in Kali.
The absence of light and colour symbolises Kali as the ultimate reality,
the transcendence of all form in which illusion disappears. Her figure
is abundant and full breasted, showing that she is a nurturing fertile
mother. Her necklace of human heads represent the fifty letters of the
Sanskrit alphabet, showing that she is the source of all knowledge and
wisdom. Her four arms represent the continuous cycles of creation and
destruction. Her dizzying dance and wild appearance show nature in its
naked rawness, which teems, rages, floods, storms, copulates, consumes,
creates and destroys. Her sword destroys ignorance and falsehoods; this
is why her true worship takes place in the cremation ground, where all
worldly desires come to naught, and all redemption comes from union with
her.

The image of Shiva lying under the feet of Kali represents Shiva as the
passive potential of creation and Kali as his Shakti, the universal
feminine energising force behind creation. She is the female cosmic
power, and he derives his energy from her.

Kali is still one of India's most popular goddesses. In fact, the city
of Calcutta is an anglicised version of the name Kali-Ghatt, or "Steps
of Kali". She is always available for her devotees, who pray for help
when any kind of problem strikes the family. Sometimes the worshipper
will promise to give the goddess a terra-cotta elephant if she answers
his or her prayers. These elephants are believed to become real animals
in the spirit world and Kali-Ma rides them in her nightly battles
against evil.

As a mother, Kali Ma is the Treasure-House of Compassion and the fount
of every kind of love, which flows into the world only through her
agents on earth, women. It is said that a male worshipper of Kali must
bow down at the feet of women, and regard them as his rightful teachers.

Kali's wild dance beats out the rhythms of life and death. Her steps
weave the patterns of existence as she moves through time and space
creating and destroying as she goes, wielding the raw power that surges
from the heart of the cosmos. The followers of Kali understand that the
material world is transitory; that the individual human life is
ephemeral, existing as it does in a time that passes. But all things
dissolve in the blackness that is Kali, the goddess of death who is also
the mother who gives her children rebirth. Thus, the followers of Kali
have no fear of death, having released the ego or little self that binds
them to what is already departing. Kali creates as well as destroys.
Hers is the wild dance of ecstasy that resonates to the pulsation of
life and death.

Tree Spirits and the Supernatural Nature of Trees

Each country has tales of sprites and goblins, of localised and guardian
spirits. Every field or stream, forest or bare mountain top had its
strange inhabitants, jealously guarding a treasure or secret. If a
forest had a supernatural guardian, it is not much of a leap in logic to
assume that the trees themselves had a supernatural connection.

Trees also formed an important part of Celtic worship. This is not
surprising since many sacred groves served as religious centres
throughout the Celtic world. The ancient perception of trees in such
places may have given them a particularly sacred significance.

Trees also acted as pillars that stretched from earth to sky, into the
realm of the gods/spirits. From earliest times men looked on trees as a
kind of 'bridge' between the two realms.

Solitary trees in particular often resembled grand columns stretching up
towards the sky, the home of the spirits. Powell ( The Celts 1958)
postulates that for the Celts, lone trees represented a 'cosmic pillar'
on which the spirits could travel down to visit their worshippers below.
He goes on to speculate that the Jupiter-columns of Classical temple
architecture have their origins in wood, perhaps even in the growing of a
sacred tree within the enclosed precincts. Certainly, Celtic tree
worship combined well with the perceptions of many other ancient faiths.

The oak was sacred to the Roman god Jupiter (in some parts of the Roman
world it was also sacred to Mars, the war-god) and sometimes to Woden,
the supreme Norse god. At some point in their religious history the
Celts appear to have started to worship trees in their own right. There
are a number of sites, particularly in Ireland, that suggest that trees
were worshipped there in former times. Magh-Bhile (Moville in Co
Donegal) means the 'plain of the worship of the old tree'; Derry
(Northern Ireland's second largest city) is derived from the name Doire
or Dair meaning oak-tree; Kildare from Cill-Dara , the 'church (or cell)
of the oak'.

Like us, trees have their own individual qualities which set them apart
from each other. Inevitably, we are not 'in touch' with this concept as
our ancestors were, and for thousands of years they would have depended
for their survival on an intimate knowledge of the different trees,
which furnished them with food, medicine, fuel, building materials etc.

In the British Isles, this knowledge evolved into a particular form, the
Celtic Ogham system. This was first recorded in medieval manuscripts
such as the Book of Ballymote (1391). Here we find that each character
in the Ogham Alphabet is related to a particular tree, and its
associated power and energy. Ogham is in fact a means of communicating
via encoded symbolism and poetic metaphor, its complexity mirroring the
diversity of the forest that formed the constant backdrop to life in
early Britain and Ireland.

Turning to more recent times, during the 1920's and 30's Dr Edward Bach
was discovering and developing his system of healing using Flower
Remedies. Many of these use trees: oaks, chestnut, aspen, willow etc.
and are all powerful yet gentle psychic healers.

More modern writers are now covering the subject from different angles,
and personally I have found 'Tree Wisdom' by Jacqueline M. Paterson
(Thorsons Publishers) very interesting.

What follows is my own attempt at synthesising the information from
these sources, and I sincerely hope you will find it useful.

EARTH (Prosperity and success

Yew: Able to live for thousands of years, the yew spirit is a witness to
the passage of our immortal souls through many lifetimes. It offers a
glimpse of eternity, a reminder of our direct contact with past, present
and future.

Elder: A tree of regeneration and rebirth, sacred to the Earth Mother,
with every part of the tree blessed with healing powers. If we respect
its powerful, primeval presence, the elder spirit will honour us with
protection, healing and guidance.

Oak: Strength, endurance, courage, inner nourishment. A doorway to other
dimensions, to higher realms of truth, to the wisdom of elemental
power. The oak is high king, guardian of the fertility of the land and
its people.

Elm: A tree of mystery, home to the elven folk. Restores our life force
by cleansing any feelings which inhibit its flow – i.e. despair,
despondency, self-doubt, unworthiness. It encourages renewed faith in
the value of our life's work.

AIR (Knowledge and inspiration)

Beech: "There is nothing new under the sun – only truth and beauty" – so
counsels the beech. Her gentle magic can inspire us to let go of old
patterns and fixed attitudes, and to see more of the good that is in the
world.

Aspen: Shields us from fear and anxiety, and helps us to feel more
trustful of the unknown, unseen and unfamiliar. Aspen helps us to
connect with and manifest the source of our inner strength.

Pine: Purifies, cleanses, transforms our negative moods and
self-judgement. Pine heightens our awareness and our perspective,
revealing new insights and refreshing our spirit.

Birch: New beginnings, birth, inception. The vital force, powerful in
its shining innocence, symbolising the positive aspects of the process
of constant change, driving out old, stale energy to make way for a
fresh start.

Hazel: Knowledge , wisdom, intuition, creative leaps beyond the bounds
of normal perception. Connection with the wellsprings of consciousness,
fostering communication, self-discovery and creativity

Gorse: A hardy tenacious shrub, gorse has an aura of contentment,
fulfilment, optimism. Even in winter its flowers glow with the sunshine
of renewed hope and inner strength.

FIRE (Energy and change)

Holly: Balance, centredness, integrity. Holly shows its vivid, shining
presence even in the depths of winter. Helps us to avoid fiery
over-reactions towards others, arising from our oversensitivity and
impatience.

Rowan: Its scarlet berries have the brilliance of a beacon on a mountain
top. Used in divination, healing, and whenever protection is needed
against unwelcome spirits and unwanted influences.

Heather: A tonic for a jaded spirit, reviving and soothing. It also
restores our trust in the perfection of the universe, and the unfolding
of our life process within it.

Hawthorn: A healer of the heart, a tree of joyous festivities, the
marriage of love and life in action – perhaps after a period of
inaction, restraint, self-denial, reflection. Guardian of sacred springs
and wells.

Blackthorn: A guide through the darkness, back to the light. Helps us
face our deepest fears and buried emotions, our dark side. This is a
process of cleansing and renewal, leading to a sudden, spontaneous
flowing of the spirit.

WATER (Healing and Love)

Alder: Alder finds its strength in water, but it also has fiery
qualities. If we are feeling emotionally drained or diverted , it can
help us find the determination to stay true to our purposes when
circumstances threaten to overwhelm us. It is also an oracle of vision
and foresight, helping us to prepare wisely for the future.

Willow: Its miraculous fertile life force helps us to be more sensitive
to the ebb and flow of our deepest feelings, dreams, visions,
intuitions. It teaches us how the growth of understanding is rooted in
total acceptance of our life situation, as it is, now.

Ash: The world tree of the ancients, spanning the universe, connecting
everything. It links the inner and outer worlds, helping us to
assimilate knowledge gained on a psychic level, and to manifest it in
practical ways. It also strengthens our will-power and resolve.

Apple: A symbol of beauty, love, inner and outer harmony. It symbolises
living life to the full, focusing mind and heart together positively.
Whilst life's fruitfulness is there to be enjoyed, we must also make
choices and learn not to dissipate our energy in the pursuit of too many
goals.

Ivy: A tenacious climber, ivy represents the inner search for the higher
self, the spiral dance through the maze of life's challenges. In this
process of self-transformation , originality and uniqueness are the keys
to unlock habitual patterns of behaviour.

Spend time with trees and you begin to tune into their individual growth
patterns, the particular way each tree expresses its life force. Be
patient, trust the evidence of your senses, be open to whatever you are
feeling. Your very openness is also your gift to the tree, the gift of
your own true nature. In return, your senses will be heightened as you
experience some aspect of the energy emanating from the tree, even if it
is only the timeless peace within its shade, or the way its branches
dance to the song of the wind……..

There are many ways to bring tree spirits into your life. Select a small
twig or leaf to carry as a token; cut a wand, rod or staff to actively
focus on particular energies; burn the bark or sawdust as an incense;
weave garlands and decorations; carve a simple charm or amulet; include a
seed or leaf in a medicine pouch; and so on. In my work I use wood from
all these trees to carve attractive pendants, brooches, bracelets,
necklaces and other items.
