It's amazing isn't it! To think they'd been building this temple complex underground for decades before the council found out, with such opulence and beauty. One good thing is that because it's underground it will be relatively well protected and not easily demolishable, can't be burned to the ground etc. And now it's been endorsed by the United Nations, which bodes very well indeed. Makes me want to return to Italia for Sabbatical (so to speak!)

Another thing I like is the absolute lack of pretension - they're not pretending to carry on any kind of "Italian" paganism (whether Etruscan or Roman or other) of any pseudo-historical reconstructionist anachronist bent (which would be VERY easy in Italy - you're tripping over AMAZING surviving Pagan stuff every square foot), although if they did this they'd probably suck in enough nostalgic gullible types to gather an enthusiastic clan - no, they're looking forward into the Next Step in terms of relevance and immediacy.

Once again many thanks CB - I have taken the liberty of sharing the links you have posted with another group and it has generated much interest there too. Regarding the oracle - personally, I am a big fan of the I Ching - I generate the divination using colored marbles - a method I like because it has the full numerical accuracy of the yarrow stalk method, but with the relative simplicity of coin casting. Fabulous Graham, my pleasure! Spreading this info around is a great idea! I got it myself from another forum, and have posted it elsewhere as well. It is a really positive example in so many ways and quite brave as well - I think there is much there to be applauded and admired, whatever one's particular stripes.

When I lived in Italy I spent a great deal of time studying the frescos and (decorative and functional) architectural grammar of the traditional religious buildings (whether Catholic churches, or surviving ancient temples, or Hermetic/Pagan-themed rooms in NeoPlatonic Renaissance villas and palazzi) and I was in nearly all cases literally floored by the intensity, the quality, and the sheer gobsmacking extent of it all.

But in every case too I was greatly saddened by its remoteness in time (for the Pagan ones) or by the fact it was the dreary old Christian crap yet again - torture scene this, virgin birth that, hellfire the other. Something very tragic has occurred to lead spiritual artists down such a desolate path for so long.

It is great to see the natural religious and artistic genius of the Italians is emerging in forward-looking contemporary form through a natural, endogenous esotericism!
