MICHAELMAS/GWYNN AP NUDD/HEIMDALL/CELTIC TREE MONTH OF MUIN ENDS
This is the feast day of St. Michael and all the Angels. It is the most ancient of all the angel festivals. It is re-deployed to overwrite other pagan celebrations around the autumn equinox.
From fairly early on, Michaelmas was an important holiday, the religious or Christian equivalent of the autumn equinox. In England, it was considered the start of a new quarter. It marked the start of a new business year, a time for electing officials, making contracts, paying rent, hiring servants, holding court and starting school. Obviously we still see the remnants of this in the timing of our elections and school year.
Equivalent figures celebrated on the same day are the Celtic Gwynn ap Nudd, lord of the underworld and the faerie kingdom, whose sacred mountain is Glastonbury Tor, and the Norse Heimdall orderer of society, watcher of the gods, and captain of 432,000 Einheriar, the chose warriors who defend Valhalia. September 29 is a weather marker. "Harvest comes as long before Michaelmas as dog roses bloom before Midsummer."
Voudun: Manman Aloumandia
Germany: GOOSE DAY, in which weather is forecast by the breastbone of a goose. There some other way?
Mexico: FESTIVAL OF TEZCATZONCTL, chief God of Intoxication.
Sumerian New Year -Dedicated to the Sky Goddess Bau in ancient Sumeria, the middle eastern culture.
Mexico: Festival of Tezcatzonctl, chief God of Intoxication.
Feast of Gwynn ap Nudd - Leading a pack of phantom hunters in chase after a white stag is Gwynn ap Nudd, the Welsh Celtic god of the underworld and the faerie kingdom. Today is the feast day of the god, who dwells on Glastonbury Tor, the sacred mountain also known as the resting place of King Arthur.
Feast day of Heimdall - This Icelandic Viking god is the guardian of Asgard, home of the gods, and lives beside the rainbow bridge that connects Asgard with other realms. He is an enigmatic deity who needs no sleep and can see in the dark even on the darkest night. He was born of nine giantesses and the waves of the sea.

Today's Goddess: Niskai Quarter Days (England/Scotland)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Today's Goddess: Niskai
Quarter Days (England/Scotland)
Themes: Cycles; Time; Luck; Home; Success
Symbols: A Quarter; Calendars; Water
About Niskai: This Western European Water Goddess has a threefold nature,
exemplifying the full movement of time's wheel from birth and maturity
to death and rebirth. She instills in us a respect for each season and
the ability to use time wisely so that all our goddess-centered efforts
will be more successful.
To Do Today: Throughout England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland, Quarter Days mark the four quarters of the year. It is traditionally a time to pay one's
bills in Niskai's timely fashion so that prosperity stays with you.
Also, this is a very propitious time to move into a new residence; it
brings luck!
To keep Niskai's
promptness with you and augment your awareness of the cycles in your
life, try this spell. Begin with a quarter (which is round,
representing the Wheel of Time). Place the token in moonlight for three hours and sunlight for three hours to charge it. Then bless it,
saying,
To everything, there is a season;
to every moment, a reason.
For Niskai's timeliness I pray,
every hour of every day.
Carry this in your wallet or purse. If, for some reason, you start running late, touch the quarter
and recite the incantation again. Then use the quarter to call folks so they don't worry!

Balance of Light and Shadow Spell

Balance of Light and Shadow Spell
One of the main
concepts in witchcraft is that of the duality of the universe. Nothing
is purely good or purely bad. All aspects reflect the duality of nature. People bear these aspects of duality. We have the âlightâ traits
(kindness, intellect, generosity) that we readily acknowledge and
present to others. We also have our âdarkâ side as well. These are the
traits (such as jealousy, anger, and greed) that we hold from public
view and many times neglect to acknowledge. Again, nothing is purely
good or bad. With that in mind, we can think of our dark traits as a
power that balances our lives and promote positive change. Jealousy can
be a motivator to strive for better. Anger can be the motivator to
change or prevent bad situations. Light a black and a white candle, and
say:
Goddess of darkness, Goddess of light,
Balance of duality I accept as my right.
Focus on your traits, both in the light and dark realms. Focus on the positive messages that both have for you.

Sumerian Songs of Inanna
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

High one, Inanna, queen of heaven,
you roar like a dragon, like thunder,
in the place of death and hunger.
You race like a flood down the mountain,
into the dim underworld where no one
worships you and grain mildews away.
But you are the victor. You vanquish death.
You are the one with the fiercest eyes.
You are the one about whom beauty settles.
~Sumerian Songs of Inanna
Once the Goddess Inanna had descended to the underworld of her sister Ereichkigel, she paradoxically
did not lose power. Rather, her time in the underworld strengthened her. Our own challenges can do the
same for us: we can emerge stronger when we have been tested by adversity and trial.
One of the great tests pain imposes on us is whether we will become closed and hard or whether we will
grow more sympathetic and open. Buddhist philosophy claims the reason that the pain is to "open the heart
of compassion." once we have suffered, we can feel with hose who suffer. Once we have endured loss, we
understand those who are afflicted in that way. Our strength grows not from our ability to ignore pain, but
from withstanding it and emerging able to witness the pain others still endure.
