Dail Feng Shui Tip for Sunday, August 28

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Sunday, August 28
Don't worry, you won't have to scamper to find out that today's energies have to do with mice, because that's my job. More specifically, my job is to inform you that today is 'Race Your Mouse Day.' Although I suspect that this has more to do with the little device that moves your computer cursor than a tiny rodent, I think we can comfortably address both. Let's start with the computer. Hang a round and faceted quartz crystal from nine, 18 or 27 inches of red string, thread or ribbon directly above any computer you use regularly. This is an ancient technique that addresses modern day technology by inviting invisible energies to keep your thoughts crystal clear and your hard drive safe and sound. If your gut told you that today's mouse is from the hole in the wall gang, read on. In Eastern traditions the mouse (or rat) is always associated with intelligence, longevity, luck and what's called 'fast money.' Kids are said to benefit by being around the ingenious, inventive and auspicious rat since they are said to bring better grades and a brighter mentality. And, let's face it, when we think of kids and mice, I've got two words for you: Mickey and Mouse. Letting a mouse hang around sure didn't hurt Disney's bottom line. If you're looking to trap some quick cash of your own, or even trying to dig out of debt, you would be well advised to place an image of the Feng Shui 'Fortune Rat' in the Wealth area of the main floor of your home. Once done, you won't ever have to worry again about anyone else moving your cheese!

How to Practice Lucid Dreaming

How to Practice Lucid Dreaming
Although the world of dreams is fascinating, people often have trouble remembering what it is they dream. At the same time, dreams are used by many spiritual traditions and personal development methods to gain access to the subconscious. That's where your hidden abilities lie, and where you can find everything you need to lead a dream-life! What if you could remember your dreams, and if your mind remained conscious while you were in the dream state? What if you could create any kind of dream you want, completely at will? That's exactly what lucid dreaming enables you to do.
Lucid dreaming is the ability to remain conscious while dreaming, and change the course of dreams as they occur. The technique has been used since time immemorial to improve people's lives, and find solutions to problems that were unsolvable through ordinary means. Why not use this powerful resource of the night to change your own life?
Western Society Has Forgotten How To Dream
In Imperial China, ancient Egypt, Greece or Rome, people used dreams as a way of divining the future. Dreams can be a vector for spiritual enlightenment, an effective method for healing, a key to whatever lies beyond our earthly limitations, and a forest of signposts for changing the present and orienting your future.
Many popular traditions, spiritual paths and psychological therapies affirm that dreams do have meaning, and can help us lead better lives.
Two obstacles prevent us from making more use of dreams in our day-to-day lives. One is the extreme volatility of the things we see and hear while we're dreaming, and the trouble we have remembering them. If we don't take time to remember our dreams, and even write them down the moment we wake up, events of the day start crowding in, interfering with our nocturnal visions and making them harder and harder to recall. People usually don't even think about remembering their dreams, since they don't see how it could be useful in the waking world.
What Did You Dream About Last Night?
Some people still use dreams as a way of guiding their waking lives. The Senoï of Malaysia, Australian aborigines, and Amerindians, are just three of the countless societies that have integrated dreams into the fabric of their daily lives. Among the Senoï, the first question people ask in the morning is "What did you dream last night?" The answers influence their daily activities, both individually and as a group.
Hinduism and Buddhism teach a type of yoga based on dreams. Judaism, Islam and Christianity have used dreams as a way of prophesying events, and continue doing so to this day. Back in the Dark Ages, Christian clerics declared dreams the work of Satan, which is why so many people have a negative attitude towards dreaming in western countries, and don't use it to improve their lives.
Content That Isn't Always Easy To Understand
In a addition to the fact that dreams are easily forgotten, another obstacle to their use is the fact that what they're about, what happens during a dream, isn't always clear or easy to understand when we wake-up.
The logic of dreams is very different from the way we usually think. The subconscious expresses itself in its own way, and often uses symbols that aren't easy to interpret. Most people give up trying to understand them.
There are dictionaries that interpret the meaning of dreams, but they don't always agree, and that discourages people and makes it harder to understand what dreams really mean.
Practically forgotten since the Middle Ages, we had to wait until the 19th Century when Freud's work "The Interpretation of Dreams" was published (1899) for interest in the activity to be revived. We now have to admit that dreaming is an essential part of life. But Freud's book didn't make understanding dreams any easier. A Frenchman named Marquis Hervey de Saint-Denys was the first to describe the technique of lucid dreaming, as he tried to clear up the controversies about the contents of dreams, and enable people to actually control their dreams at will.
Get Ready For Some Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming consists of being conscious that you're dreaming while you're still in a dream, especially one you want to happen.
It's less complicated than it seems, and it doesn't take long to acquire the technique, since the preparations are so simple. So what's the problem? Well, if there is one, it's in your mind.
You have to accept the fact that dreams are an important part of your evolution. Then you need to express a clear desire to use them to change your life. When you're convinced that dreams really can help you, you'll have already done a large part of the work. Learning the technique will be child's play, and you'll soon be having lucid dreams whenever you want.
Improving How Well You Remember Your Dreams
Once you accept how important dreams are, you'll have to improve your ability to remember them. To do that, start practicing on week-ends or holidays… whenever you don't have to get up in the morning and go somewhere like work. In those instances you have other things to think about, and tend to forget your nocturnal wanderings. Practice when you can wake-up naturally, without an alarm, and take your time before you start taking care of business. When you wake-up, don't change position suddenly, but lie there with your eyes closed and relax.
Try to recall some element of your dream, a person you saw or a place you visited, and use it as a starting point to reconstitute as much as possible of your dream, including how you felt at any given moment. If you're motivated enough, you should be able to see most of your dreams clearly in just a few days.
Whenever possible, write your non-lucid dreams down. You'll learn many things about yourself and your life from them.
Lucid Dreaming
You can try to do some lucid-dreaming when you feel ready, but don't start this phase until you've fully mastered the art of remembering your ordinary dreams (also called involuntary or unconscious dreams).
Here's the technique for lucid dreaming:
- Have a light evening meal, don't drink any alcohol, and don't take any stimulants like coffee before going to bed.
- Make sure you're fully relaxed when you go to bed. Don't do it after a stressful day when you've had a lot of things to deal with, especially if they were unpleasant.
- When you go to bed, lie on your back, close your eyes and relax. Take a few deep breaths (at least ten) and relax your mind and body completely.
- Think hard and concentrate on the fact that you want to have a lucid dream. Repeat a sentence that affirms this desire as many times as you can before you fall asleep. For example, you could say "Tonight I'm going to have a lucid dream…" or "Tonight I'll look at my hands while I'm dreaming."
- Then, when you wake-up, try to remember if you had a lucid dream, in the same way you remembered your ordinary dreams.
If your conviction is strong enough, you should soon have your first unique lucid-dreaming experience.
May all your (lucid) dreams be happy!
Helpful Hint: Before falling asleep, while you're repeating your affirmation to have a lucid dream, think of something you want to do during the dream, and repeat it to yourself. Here are a few examples: "I want to fly" or "I want to go to such-and-such a place" or "I want to meet such-and-such a person." Or it could be something simple like "I want to look at my hands." This should accelerate the process of remaining lucid while in the dream-state.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - August 28
"With prayer and good intentions, we make our lives sacred and come into balance."
-- Don Jose Matsua, HUICHOL SIERRA MADRE MEXICO
Only through prayer can we make spiritual changes that are permanent. You have told us that all life is sacred. Today I intend to serve you, my Creator. Allow me to overcome temptation, and if one comes along, let me see the lessons that will give balance. You have told us that all life is sacred. Let me see today with a sacred eye. Let me see beauty in all things.
My Creator, let me know what You would have me be today. Let my intentions be honest, respectful, humble, and loving.

Regarding Cat Spells and Charms
Posted by: "hrokr8" hrokr8@yahoo.com hrokr8
Sun Aug 28, 2011 7:51 pm (PDT)
I REALLY like this spell (that LadyNightshayde posted)
If a black cat crosses your path, greet the animal
politely and stroke it three times if possible,
while reciting this charm:
"Black cat, cross my path,
Good fortune bring to home and hearth,
When I am away from home
Bring me luck wherever I roam'.
Then leave the cat and go on your way. If you abuse,
insult or ignore the cat, no good luck will follow.
:)))))) MY QUESTION regarding this spell is the following. I LIVE with two very unique Black Cats! They cross my path ALL the time!!!
Should I recite the charm (with each of them) once a day? Hmm? I think they would be interested in what I'm doing [if I did that]; they listen when I talk. If I say something with the right tone of voice, one of them (my particular buddy) always talks back...
I've been with a lot of cats in this life time. These two are really... different. Smart. It's quite an adventure cohabiting with them.
I hope somebody responds to this posting. I'm looking forward to it. :-D

Re: Warlock the term used for a male witch.

Warlock:
The Comment: "I'm a warlock."
there are a few practitioners of the craft, they have adopted this
term, because of the general public, identifies this term with the male
witch. They also know the history of the word, and choose to use
the term. But generally this is a
good sign that this person is a wannabe. But Warlock is a legitimate title for a male Witch.
The terms warlock is a controversial one with a
complicated history. The terms warlock is used differently by different
people. Many use warlock for male [sorcerer] There is debate over
the use of the name Warlock
Some ask why do we as men call ourselves Witches, and whether the terms
Warlock or Wizard was more accurate? Being that most people think
of a
Witch, most definitely as a woman. Warlock traditionally, the male equivalent of witches.
The term Warlock generally people feel that the word is inappropriate
and entirely derogatory; `warlock', in the sense of `a male
witch',
its root means `traitor, enemy, devil'; is Scottish Late Middle English
.The Oxford English Dictionary defines the Warlock as a traitor or
oathbreaker. This may not be a good reason, for rejecting the term
Warlock because,
The popular belief, is the modern
uses of the term Warlock, has its
origin in the Hollywood script writing, where
frequent use of "warlock" to describe a male witch is largely based on
Hollywood scriptwriters, for the 1960s sitcom Bewitched. In the sitcom,Witch is the
formal title
for those of female in
gender, and Warlock is the
formal title
for those of male gender. What
the word really means is frequently debated amongst
modern-day witches.
Warlocks in traditional Scottish witchcraft warlock was and is simply
the term used for a male witch. Likewise, Warlocks are, among historic
Christian traditions, said to be the male equivalent of witches.
There is another version for the origin of the word warlock, a slang
word slang word coinage by Christian coming from Old English
'wær-loga', the man of the logs, Anglo-Saxon and
Scandinavian priests and wise men used the small pieces of wood.
to divine by means of the runes. Warlock was used by Christian for
those who remained Pagan and practising the art of the runes. Later the
word came to mean traitor. after having been forced to accept
Christianity warlocks, returned to their original faith and
practice. In the 10th century the monks had connected the Warlock to those who
worshiped the Old Gods (devils).
The neoPagan community has promoted the idea that "Warlock" means oathbreaker, or someone untrustworthy,
Why is a warlock is called "oath breaker" is largely a Christian
definition and image imposed by the church.. At a time where church
law, was the law of the land, and the writing of histories by the
church monks. "Oath breaker" was applied to witches as they "broke
their oaths with the Christian church".Warlock from the Old English
wǣrloga, a term used to denote a deceiver, a liar, and an oathbreaker.
1. warlock it use to mean specifically the magician who takes part in
military actions, usually but not always a male. The magician take a
oath to only give advice, not fight. Because he has broken his oath of
nonviolence and used his magic skills to help one king or another in
war.
2.meaning "male equivalent of witch" (1568) are from Scottish. In
common English usage. Warlock has, for centuries, simply meant male
Witch. Christian persecutors and judges, in medieval records, male
Witches are often called Warlock.
Warlock is recorded from 1300 as one in league with the devil",.
meaning "male equivalent of witch" (1568)
are from Scottish. It became a synonym of sorcerer and wizard. Scottish writers of the 16th century beganusing the word in the sense of "wizard"
(masculine).Samuel Johnson's Dictionary of the English Language, 1750,
defines a warlock as a male wizard. <META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0; URL=/ym/login?nojs=1">
Some modern-day witches identify themself as a "warlock", preferring this to "witch" and with
the understanding that its' often quoted meaning of "oath breaker" can
be worn as a badge of honor. Medieval Christian texts often refer to
male witches as "warlocks", so it is probable that it was Christian
oaths (if any) which were broken. The modern-day men that identify themself as a "warlock", see Wiccans who act
horrified at the word are missing the point and ignoring a word that
has connotations of power.
Have a wonderful day in every way.
