love spells...... My theory on love spells is this: i have no problem with spells to attract love, or spells giving thanks for love. I want to be loved for who I am, and not for the things I can do. Therefore, i choose not to have spells to attract a specific person, or to gain the adoration of a specific person. I want someone who is attracted to me for me, who wants my brain as much as my body, who has time to spend with me (I don't need hours every day, a few hours a week will do), who wants to spend that time with me, who will freely express their opinion, and listen to mine, who will talk to me about anything. This is *my* position on love spells.
in regards to lost in love, i suppose that depends on what you mean. Is the person infatuated with someone who does not know they exist? Are they head over heels for a friend who does not know? Do they love their partner more than their partner loves them? Most situations just require time, and the ability to open up to another person. If they don't know who you are, find a reason to talk to them. If it's a friend, see if they want to go out on a date. If it's a case of you (or they) love more than partner, supposedly that is normal to an extent. If the case of inequal love is extreme, find out why first, then see if there are mundane options to try.

I believe you should be true to yourself, and your convictions. I believe one should treat another with the respect one would ask for. From respect, friendship, and honesty comes Love. This is the lesson i have seen in the longest, happiest relationships i have ever seen. Also, work. You have to be willing to work, change, grow as a person, while respecting the same in a partner.

I like love spells as long as the person asking for the spell is the target of the spell. If a person comes to me an asks for a love spell, I will not do it if they are anting to change the free will of another.

What I will do is, do the spell so that the person asking for the spell finds their true love. I never target another.

Another idea is, if someone comes to me and asks for a love spell for someone else, I explain that I do an open ended love spell where you bless the person they want to fall in love with them but I would say something like... May this person find the love of their life or their soul mate or whatever but I never mention the seeker's name leaving the spell open for the target to fall in love with the correct person and blessing their path as they search. If it just happens to me the seeker, then it was meant to be.

I think along the same lines, Deardre. If I am to do spellwork to attract the right person, I want someone who loves me for me (amongst other things.) If I were to do a working for me or someone else, I would have the other person do the same as I would do... make a list of attributes in a person that you want to attract. Never a specific person who is the object of our desire. I think all to often the fear of being alone leads to the attraction of exactly who isn't good for us especially when looking to be made whole by the other person.
 
To those lost in love? Work your healing path... we don't become whole by having a mate. We attract the right mate by becoming whole. If both parties are broken, wounded, or struggling in their perspective situations, you can't really hope to have a healthy, happy relationship *unless* both parties are willing to participate in assisting the other with their healing. That said, it takes a lot of patience and willingness to accept the fallibility and "humanness" of the other person without trying to rush or control their process. We cannot *fix* another person, we can only sit in assistance to those choose to heal. Either way, because both parties choose to be in the situation are accountable and responsible to the relationship regardless of their perspectives issues. Compromise has to happen on both sides. So I would angle any magic around seeking personal wholeness, so the person you draw can reflect your wholeness back to you. (Exiting soapbox

Messengers From The Wilderness
Weeds
A plant is a weed only within a certain context; one person’s weed is another person’s wildflower.

Simply expressed, a weed is any plant that grows where it isn’t wanted. Weeds are defined by their tendency to flourish at the expense of a gardener’s overall vision, and we tend to battle their presence in our yards. It is interesting to consider, though, that a plant is a weed only within a certain context, which is to say that one person’s weed is another person’s wildflower. Most of us have pulled at least one dandelion up by its roots and disposed of it in the interest of preserving the look of a perfect green lawn, yet the dandelion is good medicine, packed with healing properties and vitamin-rich leaves that are a delicious, spicy surprise in a summer salad.

In the wild, there is no such thing as a weed because the overall vision is in the hands of Mother Nature, who accommodates and incorporates all forms of life. In nature, balance is achieved over the long term, without the aid, or interference, of a human supervisor. While one plant may prevail over others for a certain period of time, eventually it will reach an apex and then it will naturally decline, allowing for other forms to be born and survive. This self-regulating realm was the first garden of our ancestors, who learned the art of agriculture from studying the forests and fields of the as yet uncultivated earth. In a sense, weeds are harbingers of this wildness, pushing their way into our well-ordered plots, undermining more delicate flora, and flourishing in spite of us.

The next time you see a weed, you might want to look deeply into its roots, discover its name, its habits, and its possible uses. Instead of seeing an unwanted intruder, you might see a healer offering its leaves for a medicinal tea or its flowers for a colorful salad. At the very least, if you look long enough, you will see a messenger from the wilderness of Mother Earth, reminding you that, even in the most carefully controlled garden, she cannot be completely ruled out.

From the Cranberry Scandal of 1959 to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, we now have the government monitoring black-footed ferrets to see if there's any symptoms of the same type affecting post-Fukushima ring seals at St. Lawrence Island.

Post-Fukushima, would Nature mutate the H5N1 virus as well as scientists have?

It is hoped that the ceremony will bring good health and the renewal of spirits of all tribal members. The centuries-old ritual Feast of Dreams, is also performed by Native American Iroquois in celebration of their New Year.
 
Festival of Four Winds and All Sky - This day is one of asking for a foretelling by the Ladies of the four winds.

Securitas was commonly invoked by Romans when some imminent danger had been averted, but also annually on this day. She is depicted seated, relaxed, with a scepter in her right hand and a globe at her feet

Appreciate The Pleasures Spell 
 
January reminds us to hold close those we love and cherish the things we have.

We appreciate the sturdy
walls of the house more when we hear cold winds howling outside.

This
ritual is not about asking for something new, but about appreciating the little pleasures and the security in your life.

You will need a
favorite book, a good number of candles, and a lighter.

Gather your
family together and light the candles. Turn off any electric lights,
then say:
 
Hold us near,
Family dear,
As these words we say.
Candlelight,
Winter’s night,
Keep the cold away.
 
Take turns reading aloud,
choosing from your favorite passages in the book.

Reading by candlelight creates a very cozy, magical atmosphere and strengthens family bonds.

When finished, share a hug and then blow out the candles.

About Irene: Look to this Greek Goddess of peace to get the year off harmoniously
with your neighbor and with all those you meet. Irene is Zeus's daughter and one of three Horae who together preside over matters of peace,
order, and justice. They guarded the gates of Mount Olympus to ensure
that all who passed had good-intentioned hearts. Offerings to Irene were always bloodless, in honor other amicable energy.
 
To Do Today: In 1920, the League of Nations was founded on this date to encourage
harmony between nations. To commemorate this and honor Irene, extend the hand of truce to someone with whom you've been bickering. Let the
energy of this day pour through you to begin healing that situation.
 
Peace is something that really begins in our own backyards. To generate harmony at home and in
your heart, make this simple Irene charm. On a piece of white paper draw a peace sign. Fold this three times, saying,
 
Order-never cease, justice-release, let there be peace.
 
Put this somewhere safe in your home so Irene's gentle warmth . can fill your words and actions all year. Better still, make two charms and carry one with you to keep

Once, it is said in Lithuania, there was a
woman named Egle, brave enough to leave her village and live beneath the white-crowned sea. Her children were the many species of trees. Because their mother was human, we are therefore related to the forests. The
trees are our distant cousins ~ perhaps even our brothers and sisters.
 
Many ancient cultures tell us this: that we
are related to all of nature. Not in an abstract way, but as though we
are family. The animals are our siblings, the mountains our parents. As
we walk through this world, we are never disconnected ~ and certainly
not superior. We are part of our world in the deepest way. We are
related to all that moves and breathes, all that grows and blossoms, all that swims and flies and runs and dies.
 
Today many of our relations are in danger
from the hands of humankind. As we reclaim our real place in the
universe as children of the goddess, we must also redeem those other
children who suffer and are lost because of us.

Since January is named after Janus, who is also known for being in charge of doorways, i thought i would share this cool craft floating around my "Binder Of Stuff" aka..... "Book Of Shadows"

Magical Doorbells

Doors are portals, not only from one room to another, but to other astral planes. As such, they deserve to be protected fromunwanted visitors. Doorbells are simple guards that will help insure the safety and happiness of those within your dwelling. *These are not the kind pushed to announce yourself, but the kind made with magical intent, to keep unwanted spirits from invading your space. In addition, they can be fashioned to attract the energies you -do- desire.*

you will need:
3 varied lengths of ribbon 18 inches or longer, with colors corresponding to a desired attraction.
An odd number of bells for each ribbon

tie knots into the ribbons (between bells) representing specific attributes of that which you desire

add one or more bells to the end of each ribbon. Imagine each bell filled with protective essence. This will ring out when the door knob is turned, causing them to jingle.

Hold these in your power hand and walk through your home ringing them to chase away negative feelings or energies.

Chant your desires or say:
"little bells that ring in the night,
send all evil away in fright.
Ribbons, oh so bright and gay,
bring love, joy, and peace my way."

tie onto doorknobs.
