Thought Of The Day

Busy People
We live in the age of 'busy'. Busy people not only do a lot, they think a lot. Being lost in thought, is not only tiring and a brilliant way of waste energy, it's as if we have forgotten the very ground of our being which is still and silent. Learn to meditate and turn the eye of your attention and awareness within, let your mind be quiet and allow your being to be still. You will realize outer space is but a reflection of inner space. Both are vast and infinitely spacious.
The reason you want every single thing that you want, is because you think you will feel really good when you get there. But, if you don't feel really good on your way to there, you can't get there. You have to be satisfied with what-is while you're reaching for more.

Oops, it is Act 1, Scene 3 Here is the entire statement from Polonius to Laertes. Polonius was the father of Laertes, who was getting ready to leave Denmark for France. The last part, from "Neither a borrower nor lender be..." is the most famous part.
Lord Polonius to Laertes:
Yet here, Laertes! aboard, aboard, for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail,
And you are stay'd for. There; my blessing with thee!
And these few precepts in thy memory
See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportioned thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell: my blessing season this in thee!

if Shakespeare's charatcters were not always smart, or wise in action, they definitly got a healthy dose of common sense. Thank you again. -Deardre

DailyOM: Promoting the Positive

DailyOM - Negative Pull
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:
January 12, 2012
Promoting the Positive
Negative Pull
We always have the option to not participate in negativity or to find a way to create a positive direction instead.
Sometimes we start out with the best intentions to think and speak only positive thoughts, but the people around us throw us off course. Not everyone fully understands the power our thoughts and words have, or even if they do, they may be stuck in old patterns of negativity. Much of our habitual communication takes the form of complaining and criticizing, and it can be hard to find a way into certain conversations without lapsing into those old habits. However, we always have the option not to participate in negativity or to find a way to influence the situation in a positive direction. In the right company, you may even be able to directly acknowledge the fact that things have taken a negative turn, thus freeing yourself and others from the negative pull.
Not everyone will respond to your cues, and there's no need to become overly attached to the idea of changing other people, because people have to choose for themselves how they will be in the world. Many people choose negativity because it is familiar to them and feels safe. It is important to give people the space to find their own way, but you can always set an example, subtly representing the power of being positive. At times you may interject an affirmative statement into the conversation, and at others you may simply change the subject. You may also simply withdraw your energy and presence, which also makes a subtle statement. If you feel comfortable enough with somebody that is always negative, perhaps you can have an honest conversation with them; after all, awareness is the first step to change.
A powerful way to free yourself from the negative pull is to enlist allies who are similarly minded. You and a friend, coworker, or family member may agree to work together to continually shift the energy in a situation in a positive direction. The power of two people working to promote the positive is exponentially greater than one person working on their own. As you and your allies work together to lift the energy around you, you will be amazed to see how quickly the positive pull begins to draw people into its orbit, freeing one mind after another from negativity into light.

Goddess of The Day: Nepthys All Soul's Day (Egypt)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:24 pm (PST)
Goddess of The Day: Nepthys
All Soul's Day (Egypt)
Themes: Death; Spirits; Rebirth
Symbols: Fire;Basket, Myrhh
About Nepthys: This Egyptian
funerary Goddess has a hawk for a sacred animal. Together they guide
and watch the souls of our loved ones in the afterlife. In Egyptian
tradition, Nepthys lives in the east, where she can receive the rising
sun, a symbol of the hopefulness she can instill and of resurrection.
To Do Today: Today was Nepthys's
festival day in ancient Egypt. As with other festivals for the dead, it was a time not only to propitiate the Goddess with offerings of
aromatic incense like myrrh but also to satisfy any wandering spirits.
If someone you care about passed away during the last year, burn some
incense for this Goddess and leave a small basket filled with a token
for her on your altar. This acts as a prayer to Nepthys to keep a
watchful eye on that soul and grant them peace.
If you find your sense of
hopefulness waning under everyday pressures, light a candle honoring
Nepthys today, and every day, until you sense a difference in attitude. Try to choose a candle whose color represents hope and change to you
(sprout green is one good choice). Inscribe the candle with a symbol of
what you most need to turn things around so that this Goddess can shine
dawn's revitalizing light into your heart and begin lifting some of that heaviness.

Healing Breath Spell
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:25 pm (PST)
Healing Breath Spell
Walk outside today, or open a window, so you
can be in a place where the air is clean and clear. Prepare your sacred
space by burning frankincense or myrrh—or a combination of both. Light a white candle, and circle it with gems that correspond with the Sun's
glow. These include: amber, citrine, topaz, and pyrite. Face east and
give thanks for the life-giving air. Concentrate on the miracle of
breath. Imagine each time you inhale you are breathing in pure, golden,
cleansing air, and when you exhale you are forcing impurities from your
body. Draw in several deep breaths as you count to four, and fill your
lungs to capacity. Hold the breath in for a four-count, and release it.
Repeat and relax. ~Ember

Daily Aromatherapy
What gives Ivory Soap it's familiar scent? It's Lemongrass essential oil. A pleasant, clean fragrance used in soaps, perfumes and deodorants. A great antiseptic, studies show
that Lemongrass is more effective against staph infection than either penicillin or streptomycin. From AromaTherapy Healing for Body and Soul by Kathi Keville

Song from Brittany, France.
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Brunissen lived in the forest of Broceliande.
She was dressed in high elegant silk.
Her fine hair was tied with gold.
Her face was beautiful and pure.
Her perfection never faded,
not at dawn, nor at dusk. She shone
and gleamed, radiant, beside those
whowalked with her. On her head
she wore the feathers of peacock.
In her hand, she held red roses.
~Song from Brittany, France.
The beauty of woman is like the beauty of the Goddess and of nature. There is no comparison
between the gold of an autumn leaf and the pale green of the same leaf in earliest spring.
Each is incomparably beautiful.
So it is with our own beauties, as we move through life. Yet, while we can praise the beauty
of autumn, it is harder for us to embrace the inevitable changes in the female body as it nears
its autumn years. Those who plan weekends of driving to see autumn foliage can also disdain
the tiny wrinkles that reveal traces of laughter and pain.
What a life we would lead if we could love our physical changes as fully as we do the changes
of the world around us! The autumn years would then, not be something to dread and fear
and resist, but would be a celebration of the harvest of life.

Age discrimination
Posted by: "mdkbic@gmail.com" mdkbic@gmail.com butimcute101

it's not just women that get a bad rap for gaining age and experience. Men do too, but the discrimination is much more subtle. I find it frustrating, for i can appreciate what age and experience do to a person. I have never really been attracted to men my own age. I have always preferred a man who had some experience, knowledge, and still kept a sense of humor. (My taste seems to run from 2 to 15 years older than me.) examples of subtle discrimination against men: just for men hair color ads, talk of cougars (women who like men 10+ years younger) and celebrity cosmetic sugery. Grow old with pride! Enjoy the smile lines and the eye wrinkles! You earned them, laughing, crying, learning, loving, and being fully present in your life! -Deardre (frustrated by people who fib about their age. I'm 32, and proud of it!)
