Yeah but a fire is even more inconvenient!

Why not start a petition to the local authority to install a rainwater tank for visitors? Are there any local businesses willing to sponsor the project?

Out of interest, what is planned for this year's special anniversary? Is there a ritual particular to the Mt Franklin Gathering? I'd love hear about the ritual activities.

At the old Eostre Gatherings we had several special rituals as part of the tradition. The "Veytam rite" as our Norse inspired oracle ritual and the "Cherry rite" shared & run by all the new comers each year were examples.

unfortunately, there is no real catchment/roofs for rain water collection.all they have to do is fill the tank that is there with potable water to start with.

Hi there,

I was definitely drinking the tap water there in 1997, and possibly 1998 (I
can't quite remember if I actually went in '98). I only heard of the fire
retardant a few years ago, but of course I don't know when it actually
appeared. But I definitely drank the water there for 12 or so years up to 97
or 98.

Sounds simple.

First they have to get a tank cleaner out and clean the tank.

Then they need to organize a potable water service to cart water to
fill the tank.

Then they need to pay said water carter to keep the tank topped up.

Or they tell people "Bring your own water" and hang a "Do Not Drink,
Fire Retardant" sign...

That’s probably why its not potable. All CFA tanks should have retardant in them when fighting fires. So if they’re carting water with their tanks there is going to be residual retardant in there.

The only reason I know about it is because there was some drama with our local CFA because they didn’t use retardant. They left it out because they wanted to be able to cart water for the locals when their rain water tanks ran dry.

I am pretty sure that people were only told to bring their own water as of a
few years ago - within the last 5 years I think.
