Believe it or not, my wish would be the same as my baby's. She wants to be
with her mommy and her mommy wants to be with her.

The Elephant
Strength
Wisdom Purpose
Take
a deep breath and let the spirit of the elephant fill you.
listen to the Elephant's Song.
Ah,
what power is yours. You are a tower of strength. Your heart is full of
courage and you know that you can do and be anything you care to. After all,
you are the elephant.
With
the elephant spirit within you, you will be able to command attention and hold
power without saying a word. When you are this strong, when you have this much
power, you can do and say little and still have great impact.
Your
power is absolute; there is no need to talk about it. You command the situation
simply by being.
Your
elephant energy will also increase your memory and allow you intuitive access to
the wisdom of the ages, teaching you as the elephants have taught each other,
generation after generation. As you walk the old elephant pathways of
knowledge, you will find that solutions will come to you with a sudden knowing.
The
elephant energy is very social and affectionate and will allow you to build a
strong support system of loving friends and family, loyal and devoted.
Close interactions with others will come naturally as you become more
comfortable with elephant energy.
Whenever you need to, just breathe in deeply and let the elephant power pour
into you. Then go about doing what you wish to do, quietly and with purpose,
knowing that you cannot help but succeed. For you are the elephant and the
universe bends to your will.

Quado's Garden: Be an Angel Today

Be an
Angel Today
Today,
be
an angel in someone else's life. This can be the simplest thing, the smallest
gesture, to a friend but also to a stranger.
Today, as you go through
your life, look around and see if there is some small thing you might do for
someone else, some gift you can give them. Look for the opportunity to say
something nice, to listen attentively, to make a loving gesture. Look for ways
to brighten a life. Look for ways to ease a heavy burden.
Spend the day continuously
making the world a better place and you will find your own burdens will lift
immeasurably. The smiles of gratitude, the look of surprise from a grateful
stranger, these things will lift you up and out of your own concerns.
Realize your power to bring
joy and gladness to others. Realize the power of a simple act of love and
compassion. Be an angel.

Winter Solstice: A Witch's Yule Story
Posted by: "Ash" mhc4sure@yahoo.com mhc4sure
Tue Dec 14, 2010 6:14 am (PST)
Source: Lady Abigail
Winter Solstice: A Witch's Yule StoryAuthor: Lady Abigail It
seems that this year the Yuletide season hit the stores even faster
than last year. We seem to expect that rush from commerce, to make a
buck. While we are out buying our Thanksgiving turkey, we expect to
hear, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas." But this year I noticed,
while I was picking up candy for the trick-or-treaters, that Bing Crosby
was already playing over the stores' intercom systems. Then, driving
home that evening, I noticed one of the homes in my neighborhood already
had up holiday lights, to include a fully decorated tree in the window. I
just don't think the ancients had any idea that the day we honor the
returning of the sun was going to be turned into such a money-making
occasion. I am personally proud of the fact that our Pagan traditions
and celebrations are in no way responsible for this one. Now
don't get me wrong. I love the holiday of Yule and the celebration of
the Winter Solstice. I decorate, put up a tree, and prepare a delicious
Yule feast. We exchange gifts and even sing Yuletide songs. And while it
may seem odd to most, I am normally undecorated and have everything
packed away by the 25th. But, I didn't always have the
freedom to celebrate as I desired. I celebrated the Winter Solstice and
Yule within the disguised decorations of Christmas. Perhaps all this
misplaced jubilation is one of the reasons for the 'holiday blues' so
many have during this time of year. The confusion I dealt
with surrounding the Winter holidays was my own. I knew the truth, but I
learned as a child that speaking of it was not acceptable. You could
talk about Christmas, Santa, gifts, and eating, but not the truth. Even
today, our Pagan children are not allowed the freedoms of their holiday
beliefs. Yet, once I allowed myself the freedom to rejoice
within the Solstice Rites and Yule, I found the inspiration to enjoy it
all, even when I am sitting with family members, who have no idea what I
believe, on the 25th of December. Winter Solstice and
Yule, which I learned meant, 'Feast of the Wheel,' was a celebration of
the ancients. Solstice celebrations were not concepts practiced only by
the ancient Europeans; these traditions and customs of honoring and
welcoming the sun can be found throughout history, being celebrated by
people on every continent. I learned that in this rite of Winter, we
welcomed not only the coming of a new year, but the excitement and
preparation of the rebirth of life. It was a time of readying and a time
to reflect; a time to help others and honor those who had passed into
the veil. One of my favorite parts of this holiday is the
tradition of the Yule Log. This Yule Log is a Witch's Yule Log and is,
perhaps, done a bit differently than others of which you have heard. A
Witch's Yule Log is used to call the spirits of your loved ones that
have passed. I can see my Great Grandmother's house as
clearly as if I was there today. It was made of wood; grayed by time and
age. There were great stones which made the fireplace wall and flat
ones stacked at the corners of the house that held it up from the
ground. In the Winter, the back porch was filled with wood waiting for
the fire. The windows give a warming, luminous glow from the candles
placed in them for the holiday. And in my eyes, as a child, that was
what love and peace must surely have looked like. In
December, it was fiercely cold, even in the house. You had to wait until
the fires were rekindled and had time to warm each room. I didn't
always look forward to getting out of my cozy soft bed. It was warm and I
liked being in a little nest of my own. I would sink deep into the down
mattress, bundled tightly in my Great Grandmother's handmade quilts;
each quilt made from tiny pieces of the past, filled with stories of
people and lives long passed from this world. But, I only needed to be
called once, quickly grabbing my clothes and running into the kitchen
where it was warm. I would stand behind the stove where the pipe came
out of the wall and there I would dress, being cautious not to touch any
part of the red hot stove. I remember how I looked over
and, on the kitchen table, saw a small box wrapped in green and red
cloth and tied with brown cord. I was so excited and wanted to find out
what might be in the box. My Great Grandmother sat down at the table
with her cup of coffee and told me that I could open it. I shook it; it
felt light. Then, as if I was performing some great act of discovery, I
opened the box to find a big chuck of shiny, gray charcoal. I looked at
my Great Grandmother with a curious eye, wondering what secrets this
small black stone might possible hold. Smiling back at me, she said,
"This is a key, a key to a doorway of those we love, but no longer see." That
evening at sunset, Yule Eve, my Great Grandmother asked me to help her
bring in the big log we had picked for the Yule fire. She stirred the
coals in the fireplace, then put the small piece of charcoal from the
green and red box onto the coals. Soon, the small piece of
coal began to glimmer again with new life. Then we carefully placed the
new Yule Log into the fireplace. The shadows within the room danced
from the light of the fire as it grew within the hearth. I lay on the
floor looking into the fire, my chin in my hands, as my Great
Grandmother begin to explain about this key of Yule. As she told me the
stories of family that had passed, and of those she loved, I could sense
the room fill with the spirits of those of whom she spoke. I began to
see them as she did and to share in the memories of those all about me. The
Yule Log is burned to open the doorway between the veils. The small
piece of charcoal is the key to the thinning of the veils. It allows the
years past, and today, to join, that the spirits of our loved ones who
have crossed over may join us during this holiday season. As long as the
Yule Log burns, the spirits of those you love may cross, but only until
it burns out. While the Yule Log burns, you may talk,
see, and visit with all those you love that have passed on to other
planes. It is a time to share the stories of family and those you loved.
It is a time to share traditions and honor those who have given us our
history. This is not a scary thing, but something we look forward to
each year, in love and joy. Before the Yule Log burns to
its end, you must take a piece and save it for the next year. (Of
course, you must make sure it is completely out, a cold coal. I know
this is silly to say, but if I don't, someone will get burned.) Save the
bit of charcoal until the next year, preferably in a red or green
cloth. The burning of the Yule Log and sharing the past is
also a part of the magick used to assure the turning of the Wheel of
Life or bringing on of the seasons. We are joined with our past as we
look forward to our future. Maybe this is where the saying, "May the
Spirit of the Season be with you always," truly comes from. May
your holiday be filled with the magick that really makes up the season.
Have a shining Solstice, happy Yule, and blessed New Year. Lady AbigailCopyright © 012212000High Priestess Ravensgrove Coven</span>

Letting Your
Subconscious Know What You Really Want
by Andrieh Vitimus
When
we desire or need something, we might set out to do a spell to capture
that which we want or need. Whatever we are seeking, it doesn't matter
how long we prepare or research the perfect ingredients, chants, and
timing for our spell if our subconscious mind is working against us
with questions of fear and doubt. How can we overcome the subconscious
to make our spells and rituals work to achieve that which we need or
want? Andrieh Vitimus, author of Hands-On Chaos Magic, details how.

Sepher Raziel—also
called Liber Salomonis—is a
full grimoire in the Solomonic tradition from a sixteenth century
manuscript. It contains seven books: the Clavis, concerned with astrology
and its use in magic, with precise interactions between planets, Signs,
and Houses; the Ala,
outlining the magical virtues of stones, herbs, and animals; the Tractatus Thymiamatus, which
determines perfumes and suffumigations used in the Art; a Treatise of Times detailing the
correct hours of the day for each operation; a Treatise on Preparations on ritual
purity, and abstinence; Samaim,
on the different heavens and their angels; and finally, a Book of Names and their virtues
and properties, being seven semiforas of Adam and seven semiforas of
Moses.
The Sepher Raziel
text is given in two forms: a literal transcription with no changes in
spelling or wording and a modern English version.
This volume also includes a foreword which offers an overview of Raziel
manuscripts, which represent a number of independent traditions, an
essay on the literature of Solomonic magic in English, an introduction
to the Sepher Raziel
manuscript presented, an appendix on incense nomenclature as a
supplement to Tractatus Thymiamatus,
a list of printed notices and manuscript sources of Sepher Raziel,
and a full bibliography of printed works on Solomonic magic and items
of related interest.

Starhawk on Tax Cuts - Immoral and Legalized Theft

*Greetings,
I think its very interesting it takes aWICCAN LEADER to speak out about the morality of the politics going on in the world. And for those who might deem this post inappropriate because it's "political" - I'd ask you perhaps try to see it as commentary on ideals and morality
which in my mind are about our spirituality.
SOME OF HER QUOTES FROM THE ARTICLE....
*
**In a time of massive unemployment, huge deficits and falling income for
the middle class and the poor, tax cuts for the wealthy are a form of
legalized theft.*
* The rich benefit from society and should give back.....Moral people
give back. Moral people care for others, sharing both wealth and
burdens. Moral people ask, not "What more can I take from society" but
"What more can I contribute?

LET'S EXPOSE THE OBVIOUS MIRACLES, Part 5
The conventional wisdom seems to say that Americans are getting
dumber. One study reported that more people can name the characters in
The Simpsons TV show than know the rights guaranteed by the First
Amendment. Other surveys found that only 53 percent know how long it
takes the Earth to revolve around the sun, and 24 percent aren't sure
what country America gained its independence from.
Yet an article by Malcolm Gladwell in *The New Yorker*
(http://tinyurl.com/2e3kley ) notes that Americans' IQ scores have been
steadily rising for a long time -- so much so that a person whose IQ placed
her in the top ten percent of the population in 1920 would be in the
bottom third today. One possible explanation: Our "growing stupidity"
may better be described as a difficulty keeping up with the ever-growing
mass of facts, whereas we are actually becoming better at solving
problems.
Gladwell cites the book *Everything Bad Is Good for You.* Its author,
Steven Johnson, argues that pop culture is increasingly expanding our
intelligence about social relationships and stretching our ability to sort out
complex moral dilemmas. TV shows in the 1970s, like Starsky and Hutch
and Dallas, had linear, easy-to-_follow story lines with simple characters
who behaved in predictable ways.
More recent shows, like Lost, The Sopranos, and Battlestar Galactica
weave together a number of convoluted narrative threads that require
rapt attention and even repeated viewings in order to understand.
Characters often wrestle with contradictory motivations that complicate
their behavior as they deal with ambiguous dilemmas for which there are
no clearly right solutions. Viewers who take in shows like this are in effect
attending brain gyms.
Referencing Johnson, Gladwell says modern video games have an equally
salubrious effect on the thinking power of those who play them. Unlike
the original models that first became available in the 1980s, the new
games are way beyond being mere tests of pattern recognition and motor
skills.
"Players are required to manage a dizzying array of information and
options," Gladwell writes. "The game presents the player with a series of
puzzles, and you can't succeed at the game simply by solving the puzzles
one at a time. You have to craft a longer-term strategy, in order to juggle
and coordinate competing interests."
Gladwell acknowledges that knowing objective information about the way
the world works is very important, and that we may be less adept at that
than were previous generations. In our defense, the amount of
information we have to keep track of verges on being infinite. "On an
average weekday," wrote Saul Bellow, "*The New York Times* contains
more information than any contemporary of Shakespeare's would have
acquired in a lifetime."
So maybe there's a 22-year-old computer programmer out there who
thinks that France was the country America freed itself from in 1776, but
on the other hand has achieved mastery over both the 53,000-word
guide to the "Grand Auto Theft III" video game and the game itself.
In any case, problem-solving is an equally essential measure of intelligence
as knowing objective information, and there is evidence that we're
growing smarter at that . . . .

FREE WILL ASTROLOGY
Week beginning December 16
Copyright 2010 by Rob Brezsny
http://FreeWillAstrology.com
Grammar key: Asterisks equal *italics*
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): My favorite news source, The Onion,
reported on a proposed law that would prohibit marriage between any two
people who don't actually love each other (Onion.com/LoveLaw). Couples
whose unions are rooted in mutual antipathy or indifference are of course
protesting the plan, insisting that they have as much of a right to wed as
those who care for each other deeply and treat each other tenderly.
Whether or not this proposal becomes a formal part of the legal system,
Sagittarius, I urge you to embrace it. In fact, I'll go so far as to ask you
not to do *anything at all* unless you are at least somewhat motivated by
love. The coming months will be a time when your success will depend on
your ability to rise to new heights of compassion, romance, eros,
tenderness, empathy, and affection.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Let's imagine we're fifth-century monks
living in the land that today is known as the south of France. And let's say
we decide we're going to build a chapel in a place that has long been a
pagan shrine dedicated to the moon goddess Selene. Shouldn't we
consider the possibility that our new house of worship may be imbued
with the vibes of the previous sanctuary? Won't our own spiritual
aspirations be colored by those of the people who for hundreds of years
poured forth their devotions? Now shift your attention to the present
day, and apply our little thought experiment to what's going on in your
life. Tune in to the influences that may be conditioning the new thing
you'd like to create.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): I would like to steal your angst, Aquarius. I
fantasize about sneaking into your room tonight, plucking your
nightmares right out of the heavy air, and spiriting them away. I imagine
sidling up to you on a crowded street and pickpocketing your bitterness
and frustration -- maybe even pilfering your doubts, too. I wouldn't keep
any of these ill-gotten goods for myself, of course. I wouldn't try to profit
from them in any way. Instead, I would donate them to the yawning
abyss, offer them up to the stormy ocean, or feed them to a bonfire on a
primal beach. P.S. Even though I can't personally accomplish these things,
there is now a force loose in your life that can. Are you willing to be
robbed of things you don't need?
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): In 2011, I bet that memory won't play as big
a role in your life as it has up until now. I don't mean to say that you will
neglect or forget about the past. Rather, I expect that you will be less
hemmed in by the consequences of what happened way back when. You'll
be able to work around and maybe even transcend the limitations that the
old days and the old ways used to impose on you. Your free will? It will be
freer than maybe it has ever been. Your creative powers will override the
inertia of how things have always been done.
ARIES (March 21-April 19): I vividly remember seeing singer Diamanda
Galas in concert. Though classically trained, she didn't confine herself to
mellifluous melodies and elegant tones. She was a whirlwind of elemental
sound, veering from animalistic bellows to otherworldly chants to operatic
glossolalia. It was all very entertaining, and often enjoyable. The skill with
which she shaped the sound as it escaped her body was prodigious. My
companion and I agreed that "she made your ears convulse and your eyes
writhe and your skin prickle -- but in a good way." How would you feel
about inviting some similar experiences into your life, Aries? The
astrological omens suggest this would be an excellent time to seek the
rowdy healing that only disciplined wildness can provide.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Here's a haiku-like poem by Cor van den
Heuvel: "the little girl / hangs all the ornaments / on the nearest branch."
My comment: It's cute that the girl crams all the decorations onto one
small section of the tree, and maybe her parents will keep them that way.
But I recommend that you take a different approach as you work to
beautify and enliven your environment. Spread out your offerings;
distribute your blessings equally; make sure that everything in need of
invigoration gets what it requires.

way of me deriving a whole lot of benefits from your expanded audio
horoscopes."
- A. Arrosto, Indianapolis
"You have an amazing aptitude for cutting through the lies I tell myself.
Thanks for the gentle shocks."
- T. Preneris, Toronto
+++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ +
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): This is a good time to go in search of any
secrets you've been hiding from yourself. I suggest you also try to track
down the "missing links" that aren't really missing but rather are
neglected. My advice is similar for the supposedly "lost treasure" you're
wondering about: Clues about its whereabouts are lying around in full view
for anyone who is innocent enough to see them. P.S. Being uncomplicated
isn't normally your strong suit, but this is one of those rare times when
you'll have an aptitude for it.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): In the TV comedy series "Arrested
Development," Buster Bluth was an adult character who was a bit over-
attached to his mother. It seemed to have to do with the fact that he
lingered in her womb for 11 months before agreeing to be born. The
obstetrician claimed "there were claw marks on her uterus." I want to be
sure you don't make a comparable misstep in the coming weeks,
Cancerian. It really is time for you to come out and play. Ready or not,
leave your protective sanctuary and leap into the jangly, enchanting
tumult.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): I have imaginary friends who help me. And yes,
they sometimes even give me ideas for your horoscopes. Are you OK with
that? Among the many other perks my secret buddies provide, they show
me where my cell phone and car keys are when I've misplaced them -- a
prime sign of their practical value. What's your current status in regards
to imaginary friends, Leo? Do you even have any? This would be an
excellent time to seek them out and put them to work. In fact, I
encourage you to do anything that might attract the input of
undiscovered allies, behind-the-scenes collaborators, mysterious guidance,
and divine assistance.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Might there be a message for you in the mist
on the window? Can you find a clue to the next phase of your destiny by
scanning a newspaper that the wind blows against your leg as you're
walking? Be alert for the undertones, Virgo. Tune in to the subtexts. Scan
the peripheries for the future as it reveals itself a little early. You never
know when the hidden world might be trying to slip you a tip. You should
be alert for the deeper storylines weaving themselves just below the level
where the supposedly main plot is unfolding.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): A musician who records under the name of
Shamantis took Justin Bieber's silly pop tune "U Smile," and slowed it
down 800 percent. The new work was a 35-minute-long epic masterpiece
of ambient electronica that *The New York Times* praised as "ghostly"
and "oceanic." More than two million people tuned in to hear it on the
Internet. Might there be a comparable transformation in your future,
Libra? From an astrological perspective, it's prime time for you to
transform a pedestrian exercise into a transcendent excursion, or a trivial
diversion into an elegant inspiration, or a meaningless entertainment into
a sublime learning opportunity.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): More than a few wildlife films use deception
to fool the audiences into thinking they're watching animals in the wild. So
says Chris Palmer, a producer of many such films. "One classic trick
involves hiding jellybeans in carcasses," he told *New Scientist.* "If you
see a bear feeding on a dead elk in a film, you can be pretty sure that the
bear was hired from a game farm and is looking for sweets hidden in the
carcass by the film-makers." I suspect you will encounter a metaphorically
comparable ruse or switcheroo sometime soon, Scorpio. It'll be your job
to be an enforcer of authenticity. Be on the lookout for the jellybeans.

Berchta, The Christmas Hag

Berchta, The Christmas Hag
Source: Unknown
Berchta comes to inspect your household at the Winter Solstice, she will
poke into every corner of your farm and cott, thoroughly examine your
barns for cleanliness and investigate if you have tended well to your
livestock. She will carefully scrutinise the distaffs and spindles, the
hanging herbs and the butter churns, the hooks and the kettles and check
if your dining boards are scrubbed to whiteness.
Hearths must be swept clean for her inspection, doors and windows
decorated with evergreens, holly and mistletoe, sweet food and fine
drink made ready, and hollowed cakes baked.
And she will leave gifts for children overnight. If they are good.
Berchta in Mythology
Her name is Berchta, and she was once the premier goddess of the German
hearth, the Guardian of the household, and many more things besides.
Finding Berchta is like reading a crime mystery novel. We see her in the
collections of the Brothers Grimm. Jacob Grimm records in Germanic
Mythology accounts of the traveling goddess named Berchta or Holla. Now,
Frau Holle is one of the names given in Germany to the wife of Wodan.
As we move further north, Wodan becomes Odin and Holle is Frigg or
Freya. Before that she was Erda, the earth, a word which is not of Indo
European origin at all.
Berchta's best known journey was during the twelve days following our
Christmas when she traveled the countryside in her wagon bestowing gifts
on those who had been hardworking and punishing those who had been
lazy. Her entourage consisted of horned animals, elves, faeries and the
ghosts of tiny children.
Christianity and Berchta Christianity debased Berchta, and corrupted her
into a scary old woman to frighten children and who was also associated
with witches. Berchta was sometimes depicted with a long iron nose and
one large goose foot. She is now the White Lady who steals softly into
nurseries and rocks infants to sleep, but is the terror of all naughty
children.
Christian missionaries declared that only those baptized could enter
heaven, and in the world of humble folk the Goddess survived,
Christianized in folklore as Bertha the Hag, the one who especially
cherished the souls of anabaptized infants.
Throughout history we have celebrated the spirit and intention of the
seasons in ritual and festival. We celebrated life's renewal as the
sun regenerated from winter's cold darkness. We find a connection
between the Winter Solstice and the goddess of the land in the Venerable
Bede who calls Christmas Modranecht - Mother's night. This and the
appearance of the three Berchten during the twelve holy nights hints at
that our ancestors did not only worship the reborn Solstice Sun at the
time of the Winter Solstice, but also his mother, the Earth Mother, and
that she appeared in three aspects.
...was Berchta the original Santa? ...
In Bavaria, there still lingers the custom of three disguised women
known as Berchten moving in procession through the village on the Feast
of the Epiphany.
In Northern Europe the Yule log burned, keeping back the darkness and
blessing the household with the promise that the sun would return again
and with its light bring joy. This was the time when an altar of flat
stone was made for Berchta on which burned a fire of evergreen boughs.
Berchta is the root word for the tree we call Birch and is related to
words Birth, Begin and the Icelandic Birtu meaning Light. All of these
words are related and all describe 'the 'bringing forth into the light'.
And the light comes forth after the Winter Solstice.
Was Berchta the original Santa? Converting an ancient goddess into a
sanitized nursery rhyme is nothing new, and today we know Berchta only
as Mother Goose.

You Are Beautiful

Source: ONE LOVE ONE HEART ONE VISION
You are beautiful
a positive affirmation of the wonder of human experience.
You are beautiful.
You
are a unique individual. A star like no other; past, present or future.
You are on a special journey with a very important purpose.
You are beautiful.
You
are part of that great oneness known as Spirit. You are also part of
its particular manifestation that is the physical universe. Just as you
are attached to every other atom and molecule of the cosmos so you are
connected to every part of the Great Spirit, or God. Clothed in a
physical body that in itself is a miracle of design and creation you
have at your heart divine light.
You are beautiful.
Possessed
of free will you have unlimited power to make your influence felt upon
all that is. For every action of your will is like a pebble thrown into a
pond. Its ripples spread across space and time changing that which
otherwise would have been.
You are beautiful.
Having the power
of love and compassion you use your will to bring light where there is
darkness and healing where there is disharmony. You cannot conceal your
love for it shines like a beacon from your very essence. Let it shine
unconditionally in all you say and do because...
You are beautiful.
Though
sometimes imperfect your failings are part of your beauty and humanity.
If you were perfect you would have no need to exist in the here and
now. Your flaws and weaknesses are merely manifestations of your
potential to learn and grow.
You are beautiful.
And the
universe you inhabit is beautiful too. Like you, the world and your
fellow travellers also carry imperfections. They are on a journey too.
Sometimes your journey seems dark and uncaring, but that is just an
illusion. The world loves you because you are beautiful.

My guest on Women's Voices, KZYX &Z, Monday, December 20, 7 pm will
beesteemed elder, scholar and author, Barbara G. Walker, discussing her
newest book, "Man Made God.This book expresses her deepest insights on
the nature and history of religion, formed over a period of many
decades, as Barbara now enters her octogenarian era.
From reviews:"Barbara Walker stands out as a leading light not only in
the world of women's spirituality and lost mythological traditions, but
also in the world of free thought. Barbara's clean and clear take on
reality via religious beliefs and ideas dating back many thousands of
years to the present is refreshing."Man Made God" is powerfully helpful
in understanding how human behavior fundamentally transitions from a
mother-child focused culture based on cooperation and kindness to a male
focused culture based on competition and fear.
It sheds light on how male dominated culture encourages abuse, violence,
war and ultimately epic human suffering. Thankfully now, with
anthropological and archeological advances, evidence of our human saga
is being resurrected from the womb, once again reminding us that our
ancestors weren't always barbaric rivals obsessed with sexual dominance
and conquering each other. We're rediscovering we were long ago
harmonious cultures of enlightened people well aware of our natural
surrounding, who honored the Great Mother; cultures that lived
harmoniously for many thousands of years with each other. A time arrived
when these cultures become systematically usurped to serve conquering
rulers and their co-conspiring religious elite.
Barbara G. Walker is also the author of The Woman's Encyclopaedia of
Myths and Secrets; she has written books on the Tarot and the I Ching
and has a wide range of texts on Knitting and Knitwear Design. But it is
this book that establishes her as one of the great scholars and erudite
communicators about the origin and the global domination of the
Christian mythology." http://stellarhousepublishing. com/manmadegod. html

Now I've Seen Everything!
by Michael Lee-Price on Tuesday, 14 December 2010 at 12:19
Opened up my mail and Social Networks this morning and read all my emails (the
entire 1) and all my messages from Facebook, Tweeter, MySpace etc.
It is NOW Official "Paganism" is DEAD!
I received an invitation to Attend a .... wait for it ... a "Pagan Christmas
Party" ... WTF ... the Theme is that everyone planning to attend dress up like
Santa ... but wait ... there is more ... I also recieved an invitation to attend
a Christmas Workshop titled : "Santa Claus Shaman Classes"
Oh ... please .... now I may not be exactly "Pagan" being an alternative
Spiritualists ,,, but when are you "so called" pagans who also, practice
Christian Rituals, such as Easter and Christmas, going to realise ...YOU can
not have you Cake and Eat it too ...
There is NO SUCH Thing as a Pagan Christian or Christian Pagan ... yes there may
be a thing called a Christian Witch ... but No Virginna there is NO Pagan
Christian ... IT IS AN OXYMORON!
Much like the Pagans who sent me these invitations ... OXYMORONS minus the Oxy!
oViolet Willow Lol what next..
oMichelle Salt There might be a few foxy morons there.
oVyvyan Ogma Wyverne aren't they adorable. send 'em sweet blessings
and the inspiration of common sense.
.
oKym-Maree Kuijpers Im all for each to his/her own. besides we as
alternative still celebrate this time of year. maybe incorperating the 2 shows
understanding we are not all of the same beliefs
oMichael Lee-Price I'm sorry Kym but you can't incorporate Paganism
and Christianity! It would be a contrary and conflicting belief system and a
Bastardizaion of both
oKym-Maree Kuijpers but what is the problem with celebrating at the
same time together, reguardless of beliefs? why does it always come down to who
believes what.
oMichael Lee-Price Religion is the worse invention of man! However,
are we talking Cultural Festivals or Religious Festivals? If we celebrate
Christmas (which MEANS Christ MASS) then we ae NOT Pagan but followers of the
Christ! If we celebrate YULE (Christmas) as a Cultural Festival then we should
be celebrating it in WINTER like they Do in the Northern Hemisphere. Any "Pagan"
we celebrates a Christian Festival is NOT really a Pagan!
oKym-Maree Kuijpers well my mum celebrates christmas, am i do
denounce her invitation? no, i dont tell people how to live, or who to follow,
they can believe in what they want. as long as it doesnt interfere with my way.
Nobody was offended at our handfasting, (not a christian occasion) yet 95% of
those there are christian. So why should i be offended to an invitation to non
pagan events? i find it extremely satisfying that they thought of be not because
of my beliefs but because im me.
o Michael Lee-Price:
I think You have got the short and curly here Kym! I AM NOT SAYING we can't
HONOR our relatives and friends by attending their activities and celebrations.I
attend Louise's family Christmas dinner every years and I attend Wiccan Rituals
wh...en I am not Wiccan.I have and had friends who are ASATRU and attended their
festivals and Rituals.I HONOR Louise by participating in her Rituals.BUT There
is NO SUCH think as Pagan Christians and I refuse to participate in a Ritual or
Activity which is an AFFRONT to other Religions i.e "A PAGAN CHRIST MASS PARTY"
or " SANTA CLAUS SHAMAN CLASSES"and Halloween celebrations here in Australia
during what is traditionally BELTANE is a JOKE and I am at a lose that PAGANS in
Australia actually celebrate it in SPRING!
o Mike Kuijpers
Mic what you seem to be confusing is Christ Mass the celebration of the birth of Jesus, and the goverment declared time of year we call christmas. To have a party in the later half of december for the purpose of celebrating the year past is... commonly known as a christmas party. To say pagans or other non-christians should not do this is overstating the christian point of veiw Christian celebrate christmas by going to chuch. As for yule, yule is the germanic festival celebrated on december 24th-25th and halloween is 31st october as declared as a US holiday although these celebration also fall on sabats it should not be taken that they are the same thing. The sabats change from the northern to the southern hemispheres but certain other celebrations that coincide with them donot need to follow the change.
o Michael Lee-Price
I know what I mean Mike! No Confusion! What I OBJECT to is PAGAN Christmas Parties and Santa Claus Shaman Workshops or any other cockermanee projects that certain "Pagans" come up with to either:
a) Combined booth religions so it looks legit... or to keep the Majority happy.
b) To Fleece money off the gullible, young and naive or just plain stupid journeymen.
c) Present a Mismatch of beliefs which confuse the young people who wish to follow an ancient path.
Nothing personal to both you and Kym … but please don't tell me what I mean, my friends. Please re-read WHAT I wrote originally!
...And please don't DUMB ME DOWN on my OWN Board. I have written thesis on Paganism long before you decided you were pagan.

I don't think it matters. If something makes someone happy and they are not hurting anyone, just let them be. Some people just have too much time on their hands.
I have been Pagan for 30 years. I have family members who are Christian. I celebrate their holidays with them. I know they would not do the same, and I am one with that. I celebrate Pagan holidays with my Pagan friends and who ever else wishes to join. Christian beliefs are so entangled with pagan traditions and beliefs that they truly believe that Santa, Yule logs and Chistmas tree's are part of their belief system, when in actuality they are completely pagan. Everything is so inter-mingled. We, as Pagans, have to just accept that we have come a long way in the last 25 years and we will come a long way in the next 25 until one day, it will be just as common to mention one religious celebration as it is Christmas and Easter. Or Yule and Ostara.
Being Pagan doesn't mean you can not recognize, honor or even celebrate Christian or other religious beliefs. If someone wants to have a Pagan Christmas, then let them. I think too many people compare and contrast Christian and Pagan and forget the gamet of religions truly out there. Being an interfaith minister, I recognize and honor all beliefs. I don't like to label. Beliefs are sometimes so complicated. A little from your childhood, friends, personal beliefs, whatever or whoever has had a profound effect on us as humans. These people, experiences and beliefs are what makes us who we are.

Eagle, I know you are here with me now. You came flying over the
confluence of the rivers in town during the festival. Then you left a
wing feather in the surf at the beach on my daughter's birthday
celebration. Thank You for Your Gift! Do you have a few words
you'd like to share as well?
Yes, I am Bald Eagle, keeper of the Sky and guardian of the Earth. I
am here to humbly offer illumination of Spirit that gently raises
your vision so that you see your Earth walk more clearly from a
higher perspective.
It is no mystery why so many People struggle during these times of
darkness. The turbulent times and tenuous predicaments have
become overwhelming to many. The Great Mystery is how Light
returns to Your Life the moment you open to the Grace of Creation!
Dive into the ocean of emotion you feel and the rough waves of
mental turmoil. Beneath the surface all is One, still, connected. My
feather is a gift to you for cleansing the Clutter within your Mind
and Heart.
The Light that pervades the World awakens You now. Little by little
the people open their eyes and see things as they are. This is a
Source of great Beauty and nourishment. But the first glimpse may
be a fearful glimpse of the Ugliness that People have projected onto
the movie screen of Life.
This is why your Passion may burn at first. Pain is a path chosen by
many People to motivate their Walk. When you feel these Creative
pangs fly low, then dive and dip yourself three times in the Water of
Life. Reconnect to Earth Mother. Then your Being IS the silent
embrace of all that Is: Earth and Sky, Fire and Water.
Follow this Wisdom of the Grandmothers into the dark of the Moon
and begin to feel a new Radiance. With Much Love my Wings
Enfold you All Ways.
~*~
Thank You Eagle.
Much Love, Pine Tree

Is there such a thing as coincidence?
There is no such thing as coincidence, Psychic Signs & Coincidence,
do we understand those little signs and messages that come into
our lives every day?
Do we pay them attention or dismiss them as co-incidence?
Why do most of us choose to dismiss then to listen to the signs?
How do you know what the signs are?

Transformation

Transformation
Persephone is gone beneath the ground
Demeter roams the earth in search of her.
Mother turns Crone, grass and leaves turn sere
All that was fertile green, now black and brown.
Birds harvest hanging, wrinkled fruit at last
Heedless of mother's grief, in Hade's bed
Persephone, on pomegranates fed,
Ignores Demeter, moaning in the blast.
'Twas ever thus, maiden leaves mother's side
Her role revolving as all beings must
Maidenhood gone, ground to powdered dust
That falls throughout the Winter, far and wide.
Within the frozen soil all the while,
Life waits, asleep, for Spring to rise and smile.

Today's Goddess: FAUNA Faunalia (Rome)
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411

Today's Goddess: FAUNA
Faunalia (Rome)
Themes: Fertility; Nature; Divination
Symbols: All Forest Items.
About Fauna: In Roman mythology, Fauna is the consort to Faunus, whom this date venerates. With Faunus, she protects the woodlands and plants that live there. While her role in stories seems minor, Fauna's power lives on in botanical terminology, her name having been given to vegetation.
To Do Today: Faunus was a woodland god like Pan, who sends messages through the forests for those who know nature's omens and signs. If at all possible, go to a natural location today (even a park or a quiet tree
in your neighborhood will do) with a small libation of wine or milk, both of which are customary. Pour this on the ground, focusing your intention to learn more about nature's messages to us. Then spend at least twenty minutes observing. Take notes as you do. Do the tree's leaves seem to talk? Do they move in a specific way?
Are birds taking flight? Where do they go? Do they drop any feathers on the ground? Do any animals appear unexpectedly? If so, what does the creature do, and where does it go? All of these things, and other similar experiences, can carry a sign meant to help you today or in the days ahead. To interpret what you see, consult any good folklore or superstition collection, like the Victorian Grimore, or another book, Futuretelling, which discusses natural harbingers.

Nostradamus Divination Ritual

Nostradamus Divination Ritual
Incense of the day: Musk
Today is the birthday of the prophet Nostradamus. In honor of him, perform a
divination. Place a dark cloth on a table. Have a finger bowl of water
on the table. Get out your favorite divination tool. Light a few
candles, and turn out the lights. Rinse your fingers in the bowl, and
say: "I wash myself of all confusion and distractions. I cleanse myself
from selfishness. I come with pure intent."
Hold your divination tool over one of the candles, saying: "O spirit of
prophecy, today grant me clear vision. Let me see clearly through the
veils. Give me strength to accept the truth and wisdom to make choices
based on my vision." Perform your divination. At last hold your
divination tool over a candle, and say: "Thanks, O spirit, for the
insights you have given."

Sirach 4: 11-18
Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM chic0411
Tue Dec 14, 2010 9:27 pm (PST)
Whoever loves Wisdom loves life,
and those who seek her will be joyful.
Whoever embraces her will be raised up.
Wherever she enters will be blessed.
Whoever obeys her will be a sure judge.
Whoever attends to her will live securely.
If you have faith in her, you will obtain Wisdom,
and so will your descendants.
But first you will walk with her
on narrow paths, fearful and terrified.
First you will be tested by Wisdom,
with her disciples and orders.
But then she will gladden you
and tell you all her secrets.
~Sirach 4: 11-18
It is not easy to become wise. All the great traditions tell us that. Whether it be Buddhism or Christianity,
yoga or tantra, these spiritual paths tell us that to gain wisdom, we must discipline ourselves. We must
struggle to reach understanding. And along the way, we will find ourselves tested in ways we never imagined.
Many are those who give up on the path to wisdom. They wish to be wise, but they wish even more to be comfortable.
No one needs to be ashamed of giving up the search for wisdom, or of taking a break in the struggle. Inner
transformation is difficult, and often painful. And there is no way to predict who will have the courage and the
tenacity to keep struggling to achieve wisdom. It is no use to look at others, whether in envy or in pride, for their
struggles are their own. One who seems wise at twenty may still be just that wise at sixty. One who seems wise
at sixty may become rigid and brittle by seventy. We can only judge ourselves as we struggle to find our own path
to wisdom.
