how do i find out if theres a curse on my family

I think that there is a curse on my family. There is a kids from each generation that has died starting with my moms brother who died at 12. Then my sister who died at 18, then my little cousin who was killed at 6 weeks by his father. If there is a curse how do i get rid of it. I just dont think my family can take anymore tragedy.
Blessed Be!

As hard as it may be to believe, most of the time these things happen randomly; i.e., are not victims of a curse. There is really no way to know if this is true. All I can suggest is that you do protection spells for those you love.

My family has had many significant trauma's that happened all in a row...and
being a magickal family we could have easily assumed it was some kind of curse.
But sometimes things just happen. I agree with Lady N, if you think this is
possible then take what ever steps are necessary to protect your family. It
seemed that our family too lost a child in every generation...but that stopped a
few generations ago. It just seems coincidental at the time when its going on.

I would like to add Rosalind Holder Smucker to the healing list. She has an
inoperable brain tumor and the doctors aren't able to do much for her at this
point, they also believe that she might have MS. They are going to try to get
her into the Mayo clinic, but until that happens she needs as much of our help
as possible.

I also need to add Adrienne Kirby Puente. She is about 6 months pregnant and
somehow lost the amniotic fluid around her baby. She was flown to Denver via
Flight for Life where they have her and the baby hooked up to machines that will
keep fluid around him at least until he is big enough to be taken by c-section.
At this point he only weighs 2.5 lbs....they are wanting him up to at least 4
lbs. As you can imagine its a stressful time for her and her husband and the
whole family. I would like to mention on a positive note that this happening has
healed a bit of a feud over her marrying outside of her race...the Kirby family
was upset because she married a mexican. But her dad has been at the hospital
and has seen how Matt was never leaving the hospital and was sleeping on the
couch in her room. He realized I guess how much Matt cares for his daughter. Mr.
Kirby ended up getting a motel room near the hospital. He took his son in law
out for dinner and a few beers and got to know him better, and he told him to
take the bed in the motel room for a night and that he would stay with his
daughter. It was an amazing gesture, very heart touching! In the midst of a
trauma a healing and a bond was formed! Now to work on getting their baby into
this world in a shape that he can survive!!

I know how unnerving this can be. When my daughter Amber was pregnant with her first child, she kept leaking her amniotic fluid also. She was hospitalized for 6 weeks until her son weighed 4 pounds, and he was delivered by C-section. Alex is now 6 years old, and one tough kid.
I have added her name to the list, and I know things will be okay for her. It is great that this has brought the families together.

The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine
spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture
is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "Nama"
means bow, as" means I, and "te" means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me
you" or "I bow to you." To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the
heart chakra, close the eyes, and bow the head. It can also be done by
placing the hands together in front of the third eye, bowing the head, and then
bringing the hands down to the heart. This is an especially deep form of
respect. Although in the West the word "Namaste" is usually spoken in
conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself
signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word
while bowing. We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase
the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes helps the mind
surrender to the Divine in the heart. One can do Namaste to oneself as a
meditation technique to go deeper inside the heart chakra; when done with
someone else, it is also a beautiful, albeit quick, meditation.

1) Everyone needs to remember to trim their messages. This one had two
separate posts attached to it after the first response.
2) When a post changes subject matter, you need to change the subject to
reflect that
/MOD
3) I have in-laws of a different religion who don't even know about my
religious preferences. Mr. Shapeshifter and I have been married almost
fifteen years now and these 'devout' Catholics still refer to me as 'that
woman'. Until this year, none of the rest of the family had known my
husband had married because they hadn't said anything about it (we had a
civil ceremony to prevent fighting between the families and I didn't want
another big formal church wedding) and kept wondering who I was and why I
was at family only gatherings!
Sometimes there's absolutely nothing you can do to change their minds. I've
been trying all this time and I finally gave up completely. They're not ever
going to approve of the marriage or me or anything we do. That's their loss
and their cross to bear, if you'll excuse the metaphor. I am polite when I
have to visit, I remember important dates, and I offer to help with things
like dishes when I can. To their impolite politeness (we call it
hostile-tality because it's not exactly rudeness but it's a lot less than
how a guest or family member should be treated) I offer a cordial face and
a smile.
It won't make you feel any better and it probably won't stop the antics, but
it does give you the benefit of being the better person.

Colour Lovers
"Welcome colour lovers!" Here's 'a place to view, rate and review some lovely colours & palettes. The idea is to create a place of color inspiration where a designer of any sort can see new and lovely colours... find out what colors are hot, what work well in other uses... and simply make some love with colour.' You'll find user forums where you can discuss the various hues and shades as well as submit your own favorite colour. You can browse through the top-rated colours, find the RGB (Red Green Blue) values for a featured shade as well as the hexadecimal format in order to recreate the exact colour. The palettes are fun combinations, the names especially description 'summer in winter' must be a description of a South Sea island! Here's a resource for finding that perfect colour for your next painting project, whatever it might be!

An Ocean Voyage Called Life
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Wed Dec 29, 2010 4:58 pm (PST)
An Ocean Voyage Called Life
Life is a lot like an ocean voyage. We all have a journey ahead of us as we enter this world, but the journey called "Life" is different for everyone. When all is said and done, the twists and turns of your life are intimately tied to the actions you take and decisions you make. In a sense, we each get to choose the kind of journey we take. And we all have storms to endure that test our skills and threaten to sink our ships. Some of you find that your ships capsize easily during emotional storms. Others find a way to stay on board and keep their boats afloat no matter what challenges the seas of life present. Itâs true that some seem to encounter more storms than others, but none of us can escape these storms entirely.
Sometimes these storms are predicted and you have time to prepare. For example, when youâve been given notice that your job will be eliminated. However, other times these storms arise suddenly, like with accidents and illness. Nevertheless, the key to surviving these storms and maintaining your bearings is to keep a level head. Regardless of how often you find yourself in one of these battles, how you respond will determine the extent of the damage you incur. So the next time you feel the choppy waters of life churning, hunker down and persevere! These are more than just mere storms; they are also opportunities for you to gather strength, hone your battle skills and create character!

I learned some very valuable lessons--things like perfect love, perfect trust, and the threefold law. I learned about deities and ritual, and other things too numerous to mention. But the most valuable thing I learned was something just as basic to the craft as the Lord and Lady, and something that no practitioner can do without. That thing was a thorough understanding of energy.
To start with, everything--whether it's a doll, or a stone, or a building in your neighborhood- -is made entirely of energy. And as magical practitioners all we do is move and direct that substance. It's pretty basic stuff which most of us already know.
>
But here are a few other facts about energy. First, energy is just that. It's energy. There's nothing "good" or "bad" about it. It's not dark or light, positive or negative. It's simply a living, breathing force that vibrates to unlimited form and shape.
>
That isn't to say, however, that all energies feel the same. They don't. But it has nothing to do with the energy itself. Instead, it's the practitioner directing the energy who flavors the way it feels.
>
A better way to explain this might be to take a look at the pixels in a computer graphic. They are only dots of color. But when an artist moves them together in a particular order, an image forms. The pixels themselves have no control over whether the image is dreadful and gloomy or bright and cheerful. They are, after all, just dots of color. It is the artist who ings the image to light--and evokes the desired feeling from those who view it--by moving and directing the pixels in a certain fashion. The same is true of energy and the practitioner.
>
The other important thing to understand about energy is that it never really goes away. It never dissolves. It never dissipates. In fact, energy is probably the only thing in this world that is truly boundless and everlasting. And that being the case, it only changes shape and form.
>
> Having learned this early on, you can imaging my reaction when someone else's teacher announced that negative energy should always be returned to the sender. I was stunned. Bewildered. And more than a little appalled. In fact, try as I might, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut.
>
> "But that's just an effort in futility," I blurted out, "and it's certainly not going to fix the problem!"
>
> It was the teacher's turn to be stunned, bewildered, and more than a little appalled.
>
> "And just why not?" she retorted.
>
> "Because if both practitioners have their shields in place, all this is going to do is cause a game of psychic volleyball. The energy's just going to bounce back and forth until someone gets tired. And we can only hope that "someone" is the practitioner who sent the energy in the first place."

> The teacher's annoyance had not given way to interest, and she inquired about the solution.
>
> I explained my belief that all energy--regardless of how it feels--is a gift. It's the very substance from which everything is created. And that being the case, it should never be sent back. Instead, it should be grabbed up, moved and directed, formed and shaped into something entirely different--something wonderful, something that could be used for personal benefit.
>
> A smile crossed the teacher's lips, and then she began to laugh out loud. She wasn't laughing at the solution, though. Instead, it was the irony of the situation. To take someone's ill will and transform it into something personally beneficial was just plain wicked--and she didn't mind telling me so.
Of course, I laughed, too. But we both agreed that it was the perfect solution: no harm came to the sender, the transformed energy couldn't hurt anyone, and the recipient got what they wanted. Best of all, there was no violation of the Rede, so the threefold law didn't come into play. Everyone was safe. Everyone was happy. And all because the energy was used instead of returned.
> That said, please think twice before returning any sort of energy to its sender. Instead, try the following instructions to shape it, form it, and use it for something wonderful. Doing otherwise only deprives you of some of the strongest magic available--magic that could, perhaps, even make the world a better place to live.
>
> You'll need:
> 1 black candle
> 1 brown candle
> 1 white candle
> Table salt
> Metal cookie sheet
> Paper and pen
>
> Place the cookie sheet horizontally on a flat surface. Beginning at the center left-hand side of the cookie sheet, arrange the candles--first black, then brown, then white--so that they form a horizontal line. Then using the salt, draw a horizontal line from the white candle to a point approximately three-quarters of the way to the right-hand edge of the pan. Draw an arrow tip with the salt at the end of the line, then draw a salt circle around the arrow tip to encase it.
>
Write your desire on the paper. This can be anything--money, a new job, love, protection, good health, religious tolerance, etc.--as long as it's for something for which you nave a need. Fold the paper into thirds, then into thirds again, and place it inside the salt circle.
>
> Ground and center.
>
> Light the black candle and focus on all the nasty energy coming your way. See the harm it's done, the trouble it's caused, and feel your own misery. Then name the candle for negativity.
>
> Light the brown candle. See the energy begin to transform into something neutral, and feel the heaviness of negativity and your personal burdens lighten. Name the candle for transformation.
>
> Light the white candle. See the energy transformation process as complete. There is nothing left but clear, bright, pure energy now--energy which you can use to manifest your desire. Name the candle for pure energy.
>
> With your eyes, follow the salt line from the candle to the circle and focus on the paper with your intention. Visualization is very important here, for you not only need to see your desires coming to fruition, but be able to feel them as if they've already manifested. In the case of money, for example, you might see the entire room filling with hundred-dollar bills--not just so you can wade through them, but right up to your neck so you can swim in them--then feel what it's like to dive headfirst into all that cash. Smell it. Hear it rustle. Taste the bill that just touched your lips. Memorize the way it feels in your hand. You get the idea.
>
> When the candles extinguish themselves, light the paper and leave it in the salt circle until it burns to ash. Bury the salt, ashes, and any leftover wax outdoors.

Leo and the Egyptian Zodiac
December 28, 2010 at 11:00 am
By Debbie Keil-Leavitt
When we look for the essence of the sign Leo, a powerful place of origin is rather obvious: ancient Egypt, with its famous Great Lion, the Sphinx of Giza.
Since the Great Lion is facing East, there is a high likelihood that it was waiting for the day that a specific star would rise before the sun, quite possibly the brilliant âHeart of the Lion,â Regulus. While the head of the Sphinx has been re-carved over the millennia to resemble a man/pharaoh looking at the morning horizon, the body, which appears to be thousands of years older, is clearly that of a Great Lion bearing its great heart: Leo.
Born in the midst of summer heat, Leos were viewed by the ancients as bearing the beautiful lionâs mane reflected by the rays of the brilliant sun â" and many of you do! The lion was regal in demeanor and commanded the jungle, an independent leader. One might just want to consider our most recent leaders in the US as examples. Both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are Leo sun natives. George W. Bush has Leo rising, as does the Mama Grizzly Sarah Palin, the self-proclaimed âmaverickâ Aquarian. Whatever your political view is, both charisma and an aura of leadership surround Leo.
Leo also rules the fifth house of creativity, frisky lovemaking and children, and its ancestry proves it. Sekhmet is the Lion Mother goddess in Egyptian mythology, and she appears to be an incredibly ancient archetype of fierce courage and protection. Her origins go so far into antiquity that we can picture her benevolently ruling the African continent and the Middle East. Today we can sense the ancient echoes of her giant paws, and feel her powerful stare through the dark, as she is seeing that all is well in the land. Her energy represents the primal assertiveness and protection that serves all mothers, and Leo is the archetype of this.
Leo Sekhmet was called upon by the ancient Egyptians to protect them from illness and violent enemies. She fiercely defended her âchildren,â the people of Egypt, with her immense power. As the consort of the creator of the cosmos, Ptah, she is the passionate vital love that drives partners, families and even some leaders of nations and cultures to give everything for the othersâ well-being. Sekhmet and Ptah are also the fiery source of creativity, as is Leo!
It is legend, and real experience to many people who visit, that the entrancing statue of Sekhmet in her chapel at Karnak is seen breathing and displaying various facial expressions. The research of Dr. Carmen Boulter describes how the Egyptians of many centuries ago would visit her as an oracle. They would ask a yes or no question. If the answer was no, she would shed a tear. If the answer was yes, a little smile would appear. Sehkmet was also shown as one of the female protectors of the Pharaoh, along with Isis and Hathor. The ancient Egyptians believed that the most conscious person would be the ruler, and was accorded the divine guidance of the goddesses.
Sekhmetâs playful side was expressed through her feline sister, Bastet, whose statue is that of a domestic cat. The site of her annual festival was her sacred house at Bubastis. While it might be better known as the burial site of many sacred pet cats, the parties that took place on the way to her celebration site might have made todayâs Mardi Gras activities look tame. This was the celebration of the joy of life, creativity, recreation and procreation, and the revelry was sacred and treasured, and very much Leoâs domain.
So while Leo is considered a masculine sign in modern Western astrology, the Lion really reflects the fiery charge between masculine and feminine that is built through sexual energy to create something new and protect it. Understanding the necessity of the balance and integration of these energies is key to our success and survival borne within us as individuals, as couples, and as nations.
The Leo of our modern Western zodiac is a combination of these Egyptian myths and the Mesopotamian Great Lioness Goddesses Inanna, Ishtar and Lilith, ruling with lions at the foot of their thrones, indicating the tender mother/lover relationships working with, not against, the fire of life within each of us â" human, animal or planet. This is the âHeart of the Lion,â the nurturing of all that is precious to us.
Leo, the source of your sign is as deep as the chambers that run beneath the Sphinx temple, but it doesnât have to remain a mystery. It is the source of greatness within you. If you are a leader or a lover, you combine your masculine and feminine energies to create an environment of courageous compassion toward all life.

Elder's Meditation of the Day
"What you see with your eyes shut is what counts."
-- Lame Deer, LAKOTA
Another whole world opens up when we close our eyes and calm our mind. Be still and know; be still and hear; be still and see; be still and feel. Inside every person is a still, small voice. Sometimes it is necessary to close our eyes to shut down our perception in order to see. Try this occasionally when you are talking to your child or spouse, close your eyes and listen to them. Listen to the tone of their voice; listen to their excitement; listen to their pain-listen.
Great Spirit, today, let me hear only what really counts.
