Mithras and St. Nick
In the fourth century, the Romans and Persians celebrated the birthday
of their sun god, Mithras, during the last week of December. The sun
"dies" at the winter solstice, its lowest position in the sky in the
northern hemisphere. Three days later, on December 25, the celebration
of the "birth" of the sun takes place.
The Catholic Church felt this celebration by a rival pagan religion
threatened the existence of Christianity so they decided to conduct a
festival of their own during the last week of December which would force
a competition with the pagan festivities.
Even though the Catholic Church believed the actual birth of Jesus
Christ was in the spring, they chose December 25 as the official
birthday and thereby began a tradition of holding Christ's Mass during a
time frame where it would interrupt the pagan celebrations.
Over time, "Christ's Mass" eventually became "Christmas" and December 25
became known thereafter as the day Jesus Christ was born.
A man named Nicholas was born in Turkey in 280 AD. He was very pious
from an early age and devoted his life to Christianity. He eventually
became a Christian priest and later became a bishop.
Nicholas had a reputation as a kindly, wise soul who was generous toward
the poor. He was a rich young man who didn't like to be seen giving
gifts. He traveled the country helping people, always at night after the
children were asleep.
The most famous story about Nicholas is when he learned of a poor man
who had no money to give to his three daughters on their wedding day.
Nicholas dropped bags of gold into the stockings the girls had left to
dry by the fire. Ever since, children have hung stocking by the
fireplace in hopes that old St. Nick would drop by and fill the
stockings with goodies.
Turkey was part of the Roman Empire at the time. In 303 AD, the Roman
Emperor, named Diocletian, demanded that all of his subjects worship him
as god.
Nicholas would not allow his conscience to betray his religious
convictions so he refused to worship the Emperor, landing him in prison.
Conditions were harsh, including torture, but the 23-year-old Nicholas
held to his beliefs.
In 313 AD, when Constantine became the new Emperor of the Roman Empire,
he released Nicholas and other Christians from prison.
Nicholas returned to his post as Bishop of Myra, where he continued his
good deeds.
Constantine later became a Christian and convened the Council on Nicaea
in 325 AD. He appointed Nicholas as a delegate to the Council, the
purpose of which was to create statements of beliefs and canons of
doctrinal orthodoxy, thereby contriving a unity of beliefs for
ecumenical (worldwide) Christendom.
Nicholas died on December 6, 343 AD.
In 394 AD, Roman Emperor, Flavius Theodosius, banned all pagan rites.
This decree ended the practice of worshipping the sun god, Mithras.
In 800 AD, Nicholas was officially recognized as a saint by the Eastern
Catholic Church. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, the patron
saint of children, the patron saint of Sicily, Greece, Russia and other
countries.
In the 1200s, France began to celebrate December 6 as Bishop Nicholas Day.
By the end of the 1400s, St. Nicholas was the third most beloved
religious figure, after Jesus and Mary. There were more than 2,000
chapels and monasteries named after him.
Holland kept the legend of St. Nicholas alive in the 1500s, as Dutch
children would place wooden shoes near the fireplace to be filled with
treats.
The Dutch spelled St. Nicholas as Sint Nikolaas.
The name later became corrupted to Sinterklaas.
Eventually, the English version of the name became Santa Claus.
And that's how all of the Christmas nonsense evolved.
St Nicholas was a man of strong convictions, having spent many years in
prison merely for holding to his religious beliefs.
Such courageous moral fortitude, whether or not one agrees with such
beliefs, is a divine example of an individual soul remaining steadfast
in a world of petty tyrants who demand the right to enforce their
version of heaven on Earth.
Ironically, the pagan worship of the sun god included such notions as
Mithras being born of a virgin in a cave on December 25. His birth was
attended by shepherds. He was considered to be a master and a teacher.
He traveled with 12 companions, performed miracles and promised
immortality to those who believed in him. Upon his death, he was buried
in a tomb and rose again after three days on March 25 (Easter).
The religion of Mithraism preceded Christianity by approximately 600 years.

I write this communication to you with deep
appreciation. These past few years have been so rich and expansive. I am
filled with gratitude for the many awesome opportunities they have
offered me to connect to you by phone, e-mail or personally. It is
amazing that the Morning Messages website which was launched August 2006
now has a membership of over 10,000 subscribers who connect with this
work. I am honored to have been the anchor and witness to the 'teams'
incredible messages and loving energy.
Your love and support has been the key to this expansion. You have
networked and shared this site and what it offers, and together we have
created a community of like minded individuals. Thank you so much. Your
generous donations, your "blue-sky" funding has assisted with the
support of the site. You have been there when sponsors were needed to
product the Morning Messages Invitation Decks and this year you were
there to sponsor the production and publication of the two books,
Morning Messages 'We Are Here' and Morning Messages Invitations. You
have welcomed these books into your own libraries and offered them as
gifts to friends and family. Again thank you.
Another awesome blessing has been the opportunity to connect with
you and offer a personal channeled transmission. The process is still a
mystery to me; however the process has allowed me an incredible learning
experience of trust. To be the fair witness of your connection with the
'team' has been so rewarding and fulfilling. I appreciate your
willingness to also trust this process. I am now scheduling two or

We are here and we embrace you with our deep appreciation. We also
acknowledge the changing times that are occurring in your dimension and
timeframe. There are many who are aware and welcoming these changes in
consciousness and there are those who are aware yet are experiencing
these changes with more challenges. And there are those who are still
locked into the paradigm of limitations, who slumber in the state of
powerlessness and projection.
We have spoken of the importance of your physical heart as well as
the energetic and emotional nature of this sacred chalice and portal.
You have been invited to heal all emotional wounds carried within your
heart, to consciously release the grief, anger, loss, resentment or any
other emotional memory or issue that you have stored there. The heart
center is energetically a chalice of transformation; it is your
connection to one another and your connection to divine source.
In the coming days the changes will continue to escalate. It is most
important that you ride these waves of change in the highest state of
awareness and clarity. It is important that you do your inner work;
recognize and own that you are multidimensional and begin to allow that
integration and reality to come forth.
There is a metamorphosis taking place within the physical body.
This phenomenon is allowing more and more light frequency to be woven
into your field. Each cell is undergoing simple yet awesome shifts,
relinquishing patterns of limited behavior and recognizing subtle energy
vibrations which are activating latent seeds of awareness. This is
occurring within every aspect of your physical body as well as your
surrounding energy bodies.
The caring for your physical vehicle as well as your energy bodies
is a valuable aspect of this awareness and process that is taking place.
Your physical and energetic form is in a state of transmutation as it
continues to hold and anchor more light vibrations.
Each individual is responding in unique and personal ways to the
metamorphosis. There are those who are totally unaware of the awesome
occurrence. They are puzzled and confused about the changes they are
experiencing. Then there are many who know a change is happening and are
at various stages of their own personal awakening translating their
experience in diverse and different ways. More and more individuals are
actually celebrating and welcoming this unfolding and this process.
In your own personal expansion it is important to recognize and
begin to actively participate in this wonderful transformation,
accepting with clarity and knowing that you are a being of light and you
are multidimensional.
If this seems too far out for you or there is a question as to how
or what all this means, we invite you to just hold the space for the
possibility. We invite you to play with the idea, relax into the
potential, the unexpressed, the unrealized, the unapparent, the
concealed and the dormant energy of who you truly are. Allow your
imagination freedom. What would it be like to be multidimensional? What
is multidimensional anyway? If I were multidimensional what gifts and
qualities would be available? Holding the doors open to the infinite, to
all possibilities, allow your imagination freedom.
Let this be the framework for the unique experience of awakening and
these coming times. Soften your beliefs just a bit; ask the questions
of your self and your imagination "What if I could ...?" Allow yourself
to color outside your current reality. Spend some time each day playing
with your imagination. Allow yourself the experience of mental freedom,
remembering this is just play. Relax into the moment without judgment or
expectations. Imagine that you could travel time - where would you go,
what would you observe? Imagine visiting other realms and dimensions.
Imagine listening to colors, talking to stars.
We invite you to create an imaginary sacred space formulated of mental images,
created within your thoughts. This is your opportunity to create a
wonderful, magical environment. Infuse this process with your
intentions. Be patient with the process. We invite you make this as
real as possible for yourself. You are working in the quantum field, the
field of all possibility, the infinite energy field of vibration in
which all aspects of physical reality are created. Allow yourself to
see, feel, dream, envision, invent, summon and picture this sacred
space.
A sacred space is an imaginary environment that you create. This
dedicated sanctuary is only available through the doorways of your mind.
You are going to call this sacred space into being. When it is used to
its full potential it is an extremely powerful tool. Remember there are
no limitations. It is in this space where the usual limitations or
restrictions you often experience in your daily reality do not apply.
Over time this will be a place you go to reflect, to resolve conflicts,
to create, heal and renew. This is the gift of your imagination. This is
a secure, safe and conscious place. It is also a simple method to
begin to realize your multidimensional abilities.
It is actually very simple and easy to create your dedicated or
sacred space. You will need to set aside some undisturbed time. First
dream it up. Where will it be located? Do you want it to be in a natural
setting, the forest or the beach? Do you have a favorite location,
perhaps a place from your past or even some place you saw in a movie or
photo? You can even fabricate a fantasy location. Allow your creative
urges to flow and in your mind's eye or imagination begin to see or
sense the location. You can create your special sacred space anywhere
that feels delicious for you.
Next decide just how your sacred sanctuary will look. Will it be a
cabin in the woods or a glass abode atop a beautiful mountain? It might
be a structure from your past. It might even be a temple, a shrine or
holy place. The idea in creating this imaginary sanctuary is to offer
you a place of refuge and shelter, a haven.
Once you are comfortable with this process, allow yourself to expand
how you use the space. For example, you can create a sacred healing
space for yourself, making it as real as possible. You could imagine
your energy body there and allow the beings of love and light
to minister to your healing. This would be a special place you would
go in your mind just before going to sleep at night. You might ask your
angels and healers to join you there. State specifically what you would
like them to work on; give them a request concerning your physical body.
Then fall asleep in the state of grace.
You might want to create a magic door which allows you to enter
other realities, other timeframes, revising historical events or even
possibly future events. This door way could lead to enchanting kingdoms
with mystical creatures. Allow that childlike curiosity to be active
here, allow yourself to play freely in your imagination, knowing that
you can travel to these many wonderful, fascinating places safely and
easily.
Your sacred space will become an awesome energetic tool; it will
serve you in ways that will reveal themselves over time. You will begin
to trust and relax into the process. Even if you only use this sanctuary
for your relaxation and renewal it is worth creating. So be
adventurous, be playful and make this imaginary space as fascinating as
possible. This is the gift of your imagination.
Another process for your imagination that will escalate your
expansion is to begin to consciously welcome the divine transforming
energy that is bathing your planet. We invite you recognize the awesome
power of your energetic portals. The human body has a series of portals,
energetic gateways that open and close much like a camera lens. Your
heart is only one of these gateways. These portals are called chakras or
spinning wheels of energy. They align from the base of the spine to the
top of the head and above. They allow you to receive energy from your
surroundings as well as the energy vibrations that are being offered by
the galaxy. There is much information given about these spinning wheels
of energy. We invite you to discover and begin to understand the
importance of this powerful system of energy portals.
We now speak of another extremely significant portal or energy
chalice within your body. It is your pineal gland, the crown portal or
chakra. It is located in the center of the brain, behind the pituitary
gland of your brow chakra. We could call this your cosmic connection,
the doorway to your true understanding of being a galactic being.
We continue to invite you to practice connecting with these
energetic portals. Every time you focus on any one of these chakras or
portals you allow more energy to flow to that center. Begin to sit
quietly and bring your attention to your heart center. Fill your heart
with gratitude; fill it with joy and appreciation. Now with clear focus
and intention send that vibration of joy and gratitude to any part of
your body. You can offer these healing vibrations of appreciation and
gratitude to each of the spinning wheels, chakras or portals. It is
especially important to focus on the pineal gland. It is your conscious
focus that activates and stimulates this center.
Imagine that each time you send your heart's gratitude to your
pineal center it opens and allows more celestial blessings, vibrations
and light into your physical and energetic forms. This exercise and
process will begin to invite and enliven the multidimensional abilities
that are yours to discover and honor.
Remember the power of your ability to envision, to imagine, to call
forth. Use the power of your imagination to envision a world and reality
that lives in your desires. Remember the power of your heart's
gratitude to heal, awaken and invite new awareness. Practice sending
your heart's gratitude to anyone, to anywhere, and anyplace.

As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

Today is as it is. You are
as you are. All people simply are as they are. Release your plans, fantasies
and expectations with the dawn and allow each relationship to blossom and
develop in its own
authentic way, a slowly unfolding discovery as two people explore themselves and
each other.
Let it be like this. Be as
two flowers that open to each other, gradually revealing more and deeper
truths. Let the rising sun of truth reveal the beauty which is you, deep
within. Lift the fog of fantasy and expectation and just be. Be yourself
shining forth in all that you are, exactly as you are, saying, doing, feeling
and being with a deep integrity which reaches down to your core. And allow
others to be who they are. Do not try to change them. Do not judge and
criticize. Reveal and understand, unfolding to each other.
Each relationship should be
like this, a way to learn from each other, a deepening of your relationship to
each other and to yourself. Each relationship fully explored will introduce you
to more and deeper parts of yourself. And each bit of love that you give freely
and unconditionally, makes your heart more open and receptive for the great love
of the universe to flow in, an unending stream of light and goodness.
Allow your life to be a
simple unfolding of the self, like a rose opening on a summer day and sending
perfume across the garden. And allow the other roses to open in their own way,
with their own beauty, some still in the bud, some in their last days, some red,
some pink and orange, but all beautiful

She awaits Twilights Dawning,
Covered within a blanket of snowy white.
Her gentle starlit body gives rebirth,
Unto thy Lord which will bring the light.

Why We Don't Remember
Most of us come into this life without memory of our prior life so that we focus on the life we are living now.
Many of us wonder why we do not remember who we were before we were born. We wonder what it was like to be a soul without a body and what it will be like to be one again. Many of us have a strange sense that we do remember, as if we did experience a bodiless existence, but we can't quite recall the details. We may remember feeling as if we were flying, or as if we were just incredibly light and unrestricted in our movements. Still, most of us do not recall anything in detail about the time before we incarnated into a human body.
There are many possible reasons for this deep forgetting, one of which is that remembering would probably impinge upon our ability to fully commit to this life. Experiencing life on earth without any memory of an alternative existence allows us to be here completely, and that is what is required in order for us to learn much of what we must learn here. Most of us are not meant to spend our time here preoccupied with concerns beyond the realm of this lifetime. Instead, it is our job to occupy our bodies and our planet with a fullness that would not be possible if we were constantly aware of another, and extremely different, realm of existence.
There is no doubt that life on earth is difficult in ways that life outside of a body is not. As we modulate our energy to move into a body, our consciousness changes, and this is a necessary change. Forgetting other levels of being protects us from a confused and divided experience. Soon enough, we will be back where we started, so thinking too much about it now is a bit like being on a fascinating journey and spending the whole time thinking about going home. It is more in alignment with our purpose here to be fully present in the gift of this journey, unreservedly offering our energy to the experience we are having right now.

The Unitarian Society of Germantown Celebrates The Winter Solstice

For thousand’s of years, people have celebrated the days growing longer and the nights growing shorter.
For a shorter time, the Unitarian Society of Germantown has celebrated the Winter Solstice and the return of the sun from its journey south.
Encircled by stately trees behind the church at 6511 Lincoln Drive, Philadelphia PA 19119 , the celebrants sing, dance and cheer the journey of the burning wheel.
The celebration begins at 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, followed by a potluck dinner.
All who celebrate the return of the sun are invited to attend.

# Latvia: The birth of the god Diev and the rebirth of the Sun is celebrated with a four day winter festival. Houses are festively decorated and traditional feasts are prepared to welcome the four gift bearing celestial beings who are the heralds of the winter solstice.
# Feast Day of Epona, Celtic Horse Goddess - Congruent with Leukippe, Rhiannon, Demeter, Saranyu, the Centaurs and Unicorns, Pegasus, the Valraven, Vesta.
The origin of Epona was Gallic and had fertility connotations. The cult lasted from about 400 BC until Christianization, in approximately 400 AD. This feast day commemorated healing and fertility of domestic animals. The cult probably originated from Alesia“in the heartland of resistance and location of Vercingetorix’s final stand against Julius Caesar.
Epona was arguably the only Celtic goddess to be worshipped in Rome itself; she was also popular throughout the empire. She is often depicted with mares and foals, and holding cornucopiae, sheaves of corn, and fruits.
Sometimes Epona is linked with birds and dogs. This goddess was particularly worshipped by the Roman cavalry. At thermal springs her images appeared naked and she resembles a water nymph. (Jordan 1992)
“Epona translates as "divine mare" or "mare goddess". Small shrines, known as aediculae, were built in her honor by horse owners and often decorated with roses. More inscriptions, statues, and shrines dedicated to Epona have been found than for any other Celtic god or goddess. Even the Romans adopted this Celtic goddess. Her statues can be found along side other Roman Gods and Goddesses. Greek author, Agesilaos, tells the story of Epona's birth. A women-hating man named Furius Stellus had relations with a mare, who in turn gave birth to Epona.â€

Banishing sacred cows today also brings prosperity. This might translate into washing the image of a cow, your images of the goddess, or even a special coin to improve financial stability.
In terms of an offering for the goddess, sweet rice is customary followed by an afternoon of kite flying so that the burdens in your life will become as light as the wind! For people in four-season climates, it might be too cold for kite flying today, so just release a little of the goddess's soil to the wind and ask her to take your problems away, replacing them with solid relationships and success.

At the pivot points of the year, we naturally turn to oracles and prophecies. Every year at this time, we hear reports of predictions for the coming year. Many traditions, like that of the "first-footer" in Scotland, predict next year's events according to what happens at a specific time during this holiday season - in the Scottish case, according to the appearance and demeanor of the first person to call upon our home in the new year.
Unusual incidents around the solstice are especially viewed as significant prognostications of the future.
But current patterns can be changed; the future can be altered. There is an old Chinese saying that unless we turn from our paths, we will wind up where we are headed. As the solar year reaches its nadir, it is a good time to examine where our path is heading. It is not too late for turning. But unless we turn, the future is inevitable.
