60 Fun Things to Do in an Elevator

1. Make race car noises when anyone gets on or off.
2. Blow your nose and offer to show the contents of your kleenex to other
passengers.
3. Grimace painfully while smacking your forehead and muttering: "Shut up,
dammit, all of you just shut UP!"
4. Whistle the first seven notes of "It's a Small World" incessantly.
5. Sell Girl Scout cookies.
6. On a long ride, sway side to side at the natural frequency of the
elevator.
7. Shave.
8. Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got
enough air in there?"
9. Offer name tags to everyone getting on the elevator. Wear yours
upside-down.
10. Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without
getting off.
11. When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open,
then act embarrassed when they open by themselves.
12. Lean over to another passenger and whisper: "Noogie patrol coming!"
13. Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask
them to call you Admiral.
14. One word: Flatulence!
15. On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open
until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go "plink" at the bottom.
16. Do Tai Chi exercises.
17. Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce:
"I've got new socks on!"
18. When at least 8 people have boarded, moan from the back: "Oh, not now,
damn motion sickness!"
19. Give religious tracts to each passenger.
20. Meow occasionally.
21. Bet the other passengers you can fit a quarter in your nose.
22. Frown and mutter "gotta go, gotta go" then sigh and say "oops!"
23. Show other passengers a wound and ask if it looks infected.
24. Sing "Mary had a little lamb" while continually pushing buttons.
25. Holler "Chutes away!" whenever the elevator descends.
26. Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.
27. Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce "You're one of
THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.
28. Burp, and then say "mmmm...tasty!"
29. Leave a box between the doors.
30. Ask each passenger getting on if you can push the button for them.
31. Wear a puppet on your hand and talk to other passengers "through" it.
32. Start a sing-along.
33. When the elevator is silent, look around and ask "is that your beeper?"
34. Play the harmonica.
35. Shadow box.
36. Say "Ding!" at each floor.
37. Lean against the button panel.
38. Say "I wonder what all these do" and push the red buttons.
39. Listen to the elevator walls with a stethoscope.
40. Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other
passengers that this is your "personal space."
41. Bring a chair along.
42. Take a bite of a sandwich and ask another passenger: "Wanna see wha in
muh mouf?"
43. Blow spit bubbles.
44. Pull your gum out of your mouth in long strings.
45. Announce in a demonic voice: "I must find a more suitable host body."
46. Carry a blanket and clutch it protectively.
47. Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.
48. Wear "X-Ray Specs" and leer suggestively at the passengers.
49. Stare at your thumb and say "I think it's getting larger."
50. If anyone brushes against you, recoil and holler "Bad touch!"
51. Bring a water pistol. Soak everyone's shoes.
52. Start brushing off invisible bugs from your arms, screaming "Aaughh!
Get them off!"
53. Challenge your neighbor to a "Tic-Tac-Toe" tournament.
54. Laugh hysterically for five seconds, stop, and glare at the other
passengers like they are crazy.
55. Charge into the elevator dripping wet, holding a towel and wearing only
a bath robe.
Mutter something about how husbands/wives always come home early just when
it's getting to the good part.
56. Make chalk drawings on the walls.
57. As the elevator is going up, jump violently up and down, shouting "Down!
I said down, dammit!"
58. Crouch in one corner and growl menacingly at everyone who gets on.
59. Try to get a game of "Twister" going.
60. Wrinkle your nose and smell the air repeatedly. Sniff at your neighbor
suspiciously, give a disgusted frown, and take a step away.

Angelina Jolie 'Grossed Out' by Thanksgiving holiday

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:54 am (PST)

While everyone is preparing to give thanks tomorrow, one of America's most famous families, the Jolie-Pitts, have decided to sit this Thanksgiving out.

"Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells me. "To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder."
Angelina has been filming her directorial debut, about a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who fall in love during the Bosnian War. Angie, always extremely sensitive to the suffering throughout the world, is filming in English and the native languages.

"Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday," an insider tells me.

And although Brad Pitt recently told 'EXTRA,' "We'll whip up a turkey somewhere," he certainly hasn't shared that plan with Angelina. A family friend tells me, "If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself. For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history."

You go Angie. I feel the same way.

I didn't know this about Angelina, but I am glad someone of some affluence is taking a stand on it. On that day I just try to be thankful for what I have, but also remember what really happened back then.

Y'know, it doesn't just have its roots in that particular incident. In
fact, a lot of the myths about Thanksgiving on both sides have been
completely, utterly debunked. We celebrate it as it was intended, as a
gathering of friends and family and bountiful harvest and as the start of
the winter festivals.

If she's going to take a stand on it, she ought to educate herself better.
For instance, turkey was NOT served at that meal. While everyone knows the
fate of the indigenous peoples at the hands of immigrants, that is not how
it always was nor were those the conditions at the time the first
Thanksgiving was held. If you're at all curious, you might read this:

http://www.history.com/topics/thanksgiving

Since she's supposedly so big on learning and on understanding other
cultures, she might possibly have wanted to look here as well:

http://www.learnnc.org/lp/pages/623

Even this is more accurate:

http://www.learnnc.org/lp/pages/623

(And before anyone gets out the hate-bombs, I *am* Native American...Osage,
to be precise. I know all too well what happened to them and who did what
to whom.)

In particular, her statement about not being in the US on Thanksgiving as a
form or protest bothered me. If you can't accept its history, warts and
all, then maybe you don't need to be living here. I found the statement
offensive as an American in general, as a Native, *and* as the daughter of a
veteran who gave his life so that she could say stupid stuff like that from
the comfort of her home.

Really want to make a difference? I have the addresses of several women's
shelters on reservations who constantly need things like clothing, food, and
toy donations for their clients. I have addresses for organizations on
those reservations and elsewhere where you can send donations of money or
other items to help provide health care, food, and schooling for needy
families.

Or better yet...*go out there *if you live near one. Worry about the
squalor and poverty outside our borders when the ones inside our borders
have been taken care of.

I have been to the Dine Nation, the Mountain Utes, the Hopi, the Zuni,
several Shoshone, the Osage, the Cherokee, and several Apache reservations.
The poverty is terrible, the conditions more so. If she really wants to
help, she ought to stay here and do so.

my brain, I seek relief in the trail; and when I hear the coyote wailing to
the yellow dawn, my cares fall from me - I am happy."

Wassail Punch

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:58 am (PST)

WASSAIL PUNCH

1 Dozen apples; baked
1 cup Water
4 cups Sugar
1 Tablespoon Freshly grated nutmeg
2 teaspoons Ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon Ground mace
6 Whole cloves
6 Allspice berries
1 Stick cinnamon
1 Dozen eggs, separated
4 Bottles sherry or Madeira wine
2 cups Brandy

Ancient England gave us the custom of "wassailing". It is based on the tradition of friends gathering in a circle, whereupon the host drinks to the health of all present. He sips from a glass of hot punch or spiced ale, then passes the glass. A special bowl was used as the vessel. As each friend raises the vessel, before sipping he or she proclaims the Saxon toast "Wass hael!" meaning "be whole" or "be well." Although many versions exist, this one contains the symbolic ingredients: apples, representing fertility and health; spices, signifying riches and variety; eggs, a symbol of life
and rebirth; as well as wine and brandy.

The beverage is served hot, so plan on a heatproof punchbowl. This
makes enough for a crowd. Just how large a crowd depends on your group's taste for rich, spicy wine drinks. Figure on at least 16-18 servings.

Cook's notes: This also can be made with a combination of beer and
wine, preferably sherry, with roughly 4 parts beer to one part sherry. The resulting flavor is authentic to the Colonial period, but far less familiar to contemporary palates.

Prepare the punch: Combine water, sugar, and spices in a large
stainless steel, enamel or glass saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, and boil for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry. In a separate
bowl, beat the egg yolks until light in color. In separate pans, bring the wine (and beer, if used) and the brandy almost to the boiling point. Fold the whites into the yolks, using a large heatproof bowl. Strain the sugar and spice mixture into the eggs, combining quickly. Incorporate the hot wine with the spice and egg mixture, beginning slowly and stirring briskly with each addition. Toward the end of this process, add the brandy. Now, just before serving and while the mixture is still foaming, add the baked apples.

Presentation: Serve in heatproof cups or punch glasses. Guests are
welcome to take part or all of an apple.

Promote clearing of nasal congestion, use 2 drops of Rosemary,
Eucalyptus or Tea tree essential oils on a handkerchief for
inhalation therapy.

Works great for fast relief!

Try this easy Holiday Recipe

Material needed:

Pine or Fir pure essential oil
Pine Cones
Lidded container, box or plastic bag
Facial tissue

Fill container, box or plastic bag with dry, clean pine cones.
Liberally sprinkle tissue with essential oil and add to bag or
container.

Seal the bag or container and allow oil to penetrate cones for
several days before removing (the longer the cones are contained, the
stronger the fragrance will be).

Mercury Retrograde Begins

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:04 pm (PST)

MERCURY STATION RETROGRADE 7.04 am est
[05 deg 56' Capricorn]

When Mercury turns retrograde, matters ruled by Mercury
are likely to manifest in unusual or unexpected ways:
be prepared for confusion and miscommunication and have
an alternate course of action; flexibility is needed now.
Mercury rules communication and transportation: make
sure that you give yourself extra time to get where
you are going!

There ARE many positive uses for the Mercury retrograde
period... look at this time as an opportunity to get
unfinished projects taken care of, and go with the flow
[esp regarding matters ruled by the house Mercury is
transiting in your personal chart]. By being too rigid
now you could cause unnecessary stress for yourself; a
flexible attitude and a good sense of humor are needed
since things are likely to operate according to their
own time frame.

You can almost expect car trouble or crazy drivers...
NOT the best time to buy a car! Be especially careful
a few days before and after Mercury goes retrograde.
Matters regarding communications, electronic equipment,
contracts and negotiations are likely to undergo many
changes... agreements negotiated now are likely to
flip flop, so wait for a few weeks before signing
any paperwork, if possible.

Mercury will be retrograde through Dec 30th, 2010.

Lady Nightshayde

13 Witches,

The Goddess Loves Me, This I know because:

She created a system, which turns stardust into peanuts, watermelons and people

She created a system, which gave me life

She gave me music and poetry

She gave me salads and seafood

She gave me me snowflakes to make me blink and dazzle my tongue

She gave me Sunrises and Sunsets, which take my breath away

She gave me mountains to climb

She gave me beaches to walk

She gave me foggy Forests dripping in beauty

She gave me ruby red zinfandel to warm the cold evening

She gave me a wife to love and children to cherish

She came to me along the Skykomish River and made me hers

She came to me again along the trail from Paradise to Mt. Rainier's peak and
shared truths I can not repeat

The Lady has showed her love at every turn of my life

And all I had to do was to be still and to listen

She is there and She loves me

I am Hers and I will never be the same

In Perfect Love and in Perfect Trust
Stormy)O(

Life is a journey,
enjoy the ride ~
just avoid kissing the trail!
