DailyOM - Aboriginal Dreamtime
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Spiritual Imprints
Aboriginal Dreamtime
Everything in nature contains the memory of when they were created and vibrates with that life force.

Everything in the natural world leaves its mark on the earth. The Australian Aborigines, who have one of the longest continuous cultural histories of any group on earth, know this. Dreamtime, the spirituality and culture of the Aborigines, explains the origins and culture of the land and its people. In Aboriginal Dreaming, every meaningful activity, event, or life process is believed to leave behind a vibrational residue. Aborigines speak of the seed power deposited on the earth that all natural life brings forth known as jiva or guruwari. As plants leave an image of themselves as seeds, so too do the oceans, the mountains, and the smallest pebble. Everything in nature contains the memory of when they were created and vibrates with that life force.

"Dreaming," in Aboriginal culture, is comprised of the knowledge, faith, and practices derived from the stories of creation and the history of Australia. Dreamtime ceremonies, rituals, stories, and drawings describe the time when humans, plants, and animals were created. Often referred to as the time before time, it was during Dreamtime that the ancestral spirits came to earth in human and other forms, creating rivers, lakes, hills, and deserts. When their work was done, the ancestral spirits became a part of the earth, changing into plants, animals, land, and the sky.

The places the ancestral spirits traveled and where they came to rest was told to the Aborigines through Dreaming. Aborigines know that they do not own the land but are a part of it and that it is their duty to respect and look after the earth. Aboriginal Dreaming acknowledges that the ancestral spirits still reside in the natural world and their imprints resonate everywhere. The past is still alive and breathing today, as it will be in the future.

How do people use their spiritual paths in the modern world?

How do people incorporate paganism into their mundane lives?

How do you work magic into your everyday mundane lives?

Do you have an altar at your place of work?

Fordicidia - A Roman festival when a pregnant cow (fordus) was sacrificed to Tellus Mater, the Earth Mother on the Capitol
and in each of the thirty ancient wards of Rome. Blackburn, Bonnie and Leofranc Holford-Strevens, Oxford Companion to the Year, Oxford University Press, 1999

Egypt: Festival of Bast - held in honor of the Goddess Bast. Thousands of worshippers journeyed up and down the Nile, accompanied by flutes, castanets, and lots of wine.

Celtic Tree Calendar: Saille (Willow) - April 15 to May 12
The Willow in the Tree alphabet stands for the female and lunar rhythms of life. She is water-seeking, thriving from preference on the damp margins of lakes and streams or across the low-lying water meadows. Water and the tidal movements of the sea are governed by the pull of the moon. The moon in its monthly rhythms is female, contrasting with the male sun's daily and yearly turnings. In several ways, the Celts held women in higher regard than we do today. On the material level, women were property owners, and whoever controlled the property controlled the marriage. Women of all types and ages appeared in the Celtic pantheon, the spiritual strength and life-giving qualities given by both female and male recognized equally. There were colleges of Druidesses - learned women and teachers - respected equally for their gifts of see-ship, often expressed through dreams, or night visions.
Magical Associations: Romantic love, healing, protection, fertility, magic for women.

Blue Lace Agate

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Apr 14, 2011 7:10 pm (PDT)

Blue Lace Agate
by Stephanie Pflumm
This gentle blue member of the Agate family is the Earth Ecology Award's
symbol for World Ecology. They chose this intricately designed Quartz
because of its resemblance to Mother Earth's appearance from space.
Astronaut Dr. Harrison H. Schmitt (he rode in Apollo 17) commented while
orbiting Earth, "If there ever was a fragile appearing piece of blue in
space, it is the Earth right now". Earth Ecology Award must have felt the
delicate patterns of the Blue Lace Agate echoed those sentiments.

Agates are plentiful. Blue Agates are not, especially the pleasing blues
found in the Ellensburg Blue, or the older stones found in the Scottish Blue
Hole. Blue Lace Agate was only discovered in the last 40 years, by George
Swanson in the Kalahari desert. In 1980 Nick Lorimer discovered Agates in an
old quarry in Angus Scotland, rivaling the stones found a century earlier in
the Blue Hole.

Blue Lace Agate formed as most Agates do. An extreme geological event
liquified silica (Quartz), and dissolved crocidolite (the same mineral that
gives Hawk Eye its blue color) filling cracks and cavities in the
surrounding terrain. Over the centuries, as the geological forces slowly
subsided, these Quartz filled stones would alternate between periods of
submersion and cooling down. This built uneven layers and fractures,
creating the lacy patterns we are so drawn to in this Agate.

There is little history on Blue Lace Agate or even Blue Agate. Partly
because of the rarity of the gemstone, partly because of the ignorance of
European settlers. The blue Agate now known as Ellensburg Blue, was held in
high esteem by the Northwestern Native American tribes. In some cases, only
the Chief was allowed to wear one, regardless, it was essential that at
least the Chief have one of these Agates. Initially they tried to trade
their blue treasures with their new neighbors. The settlers could think of
no use for an old blue rock.

This little Agate is making up for lost time though. It is now recognized as
a symbol of peace, hope, ecology, truth and other noble ideals.

In your own work, Blue Lace Agate is excellent for opening and activating
the Throat Chakra. Often, when you are afraid to speak out against actions
that hurt you or those you love, anger builds up, creating a wall your words
can't get out of. Blockages like these can be detrimental to your health,
physical and mental. This loving Agate can assist you in tearing down that
wall and allowing the correct words to come. Words that can bring about a
peaceful solution to your troubles.

The gemstone will open your communication with the Universe. Helping you
form your intentions correctly, so that the outcome is for the good of all.
And allows you to understand messages that are being given to you.

Blue Lace Agate is one of my favorite gemstones for honoring Father Sky.
Looking into its layers of blue and white can lift you up in the joy of
flight. Feel the delightful sensation of Father's breath across your skin as
you fly free above your Mother. Use your blue gemstone in a cleansing
ceremony. Invite Father Sky to blow out the old stale air from your life and
bring in a fresh new wind. Leave the stone in the branches of a tree or on
top of a hill to show your gratitude.

Keep one in your car to lift your spirits when day to day driving
frustrations try to send you over the edge. At the office, it could help
diffuse tense situations, helping the individuals involved find creative
ways to express and resolve conflicts. You can use these same calming
energies at home as well.

This is a wonderful stone to carry in any stressful situation. Your
biological reaction to stress is to fight or take flight. Very few of the
challenges we face today will be resolved by violence or running away. This
airy Agate helps you take that deep breath, and assess the problem calmly.
If you listen, in that quiet moment, this crystal may whisper the answer in
your ear.

Blue Lace Agate has been recommended for headache and the joint pain from
arthritis. It can help release harmful memories that may manifest themselves
as disease. Use the gemstone to promote a healthier body by having a
healthier spirit.

Looking for a New Job Spell

Looking for a New Job Spell
Incense of the day: Musk

Take a
little extra something with you when looking for a new job. Dress a
green candle with essential oil of rosemary, and place it in a holder on your altar. Light the candle. Now, place your hands down
on the
altar on either side of the candle and gaze into the flame. Picture
yourself getting an interview, being made a job offer, and even getting a
first paycheck. Tell yourself that you are worthy of employment, and
that you are getting a job you will enjoy and that will meet your
financial needs. Get it all firmly planted in your mind, and believe it
to be true. Let the candle burn for a half hour, then blow it out. Burn
it on consecutive nights until it is no more.

Spell to Achieve Clarity and Focus

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Apr 14, 2011 7:12 pm (PDT)

Spell to Achieve Clarity and Focus

In order for others to meet our needs, we must first know what we want. To initiate this process,
get a sky-blue candle and some oil of myrrh. Light the candle and rub your third eye chakra, saying:

By the power of water,
I see clearly and divinely. I ask and I seek.
My needs are met.

Anoint your throat with the oil, saying:

By the powers of air,
I mean what I say.
I say what I intend.

Daub some oil on your heart chakra (between the breastbone), and say:

By the power of fire,
I know what I desire.
I am led by the heart, which joins wisdom with love.

Anoint your midsection with the oil, and say:

By the power of earth,
I stick to my dreams.
I remain steadfast.
I understand what it takes to get me there.
So mote it be.

This spell works best under a clear sky, when the Moon is in an air sign.

~Homeric Hymn to Artemis

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Apr 14, 2011 7:43 pm (PDT)

Let me sing of the maiden of contradictions, Goddess of
the Wild Chase and busy spindle. An archer, a hunter,
she races through the mountain shadows and the windy
hills, drawing her bow and loosing her arrows of sadness.
The mountains tremble, and the forest resounds with the
agony of animals. Earth and sea both shudder as the
strong-hearted one delights in her hunt. And then, when
she has had enough, she leaves the forest. Hanging up
her bow and quiver, she robes herself in splendor and
goes forth to lead her maidens in dance, smiling as
they sing of their mother Leto, of how she bore such
a wondrous daughter.
~Homeric Hymn to Artemis

On the full moon of this month, in ancient Greece, a festival was celebrated called the Mounichion, in honor of the Goddess of the moon, Artemis. A complex figure, Artemis is both a fierce virgin who kills any man who spies on her and a protector of all laboring mothers; she is both a hunter and a guardian who protects animals. Under the full moon, probably in wilderness areas where her power was strongest, her worshippers danced and praised her, calling upon her for protection and happiness.

Each year earth's wilderness areas are further constricted, as human activity destroys forests, drains wetlands, and paves tundra. But Artemis is not a gentle goddess, however we may love her. She carries the arrows of retaliation, which she uses to destroy all those who broke the laws of ecological responsibility. We would do well to honor Artemis today, for we endanger ourselves and our children whenever we fail to acknowledge how much more powerful the earth is than we are.

DailyOM - Accepting Your Family
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

April 14, 2011
Gifts from the Universe
Accepting Your Family
Our families help us see where we have come from so that we may more clearly decide where we'd like to go.

Families can contain a fascinating grouping of personalities. Despite the potential for so many to have similar traits, there are many different ways to express them. As people marry into families and have children, even more personalities enter the picture. There may be some people that we would not choose to be related to, but that's what friends are for.

If we trust in a universe that has a higher purpose for everything, then we must believe that family members are in our lives for a good reason. These reasons may be easy to see and appreciate with some, but others may offer us a challenge. With those, we can look for something we can learn or perhaps teach. In the modern world where everyone seeks to be individuals, many move far away from their families in an attempt to escape them. But when we've successfully built a world around us that requires no one's help, our families are the people who are still attached to us. We can still choose whether or not to honor the family ties, and how to treat each other, but the fact remains that we are energetically tied to our families.

Our families help us see where we have come from so that we may more clearly decide where we'd like to go. If we can learn to accept our families for who they are, then we go out into the world armed with the ability to deal with anyone. Some families are better than others at preparing us for the world. What we learn from our families, even if they are simply blank spots on our family trees, becomes the basis of our identities as individuals. Rather than denying our connections, we can choose to accept their presence in our lives. Acceptance does not mean we have to like them; we simply acknowledge that we are connected to them and honor that connection for like it or not, there is a reason. When we can embrace all that they bring into our experience, we may be grateful for all we have learned from them and have to learn, while we experience everything that comes with family fully and completely.
