I've been there a few times. It's a very good shop and they have wonderful
rituals also. I'll be going there as often as I can as time permits.

There's an appliance repair shop near the store so watch for it. Once you
see it, find a place to park. It's very close to that.

Greetings of the season to all the members...I often forget that like myself
many of the members are not in New Jersey...so I would like to take a
moment to say hello to the west coast contingent on the group (waves wildly,

HECATE, MOON GODDESS OF MYSTERY AND MAGICK

HECATE, MOON GODDESS OF MYSTERY AND MAGICK

Hecate, or Hekate, is the Goddess of the Underworld and the Goddess of the

Dark Phase of the Moon. The name Hecate is believed to have been derived

from one of the following Egyptian words: Hewitt, Hemet, or Heat. Hecate was

the daughter of the Titans Parses and Astoria, and the mother of the nymph

Scylla, although there are some who claim that she was actually the mother

of the Goddess and Sorceress Circe.

Even though Hecate is sometimes associated with all three phases of the Moon

she is, more often then not, connected with the third stage of the Moon,

which is the Dark Moon. For that reason, she takes on the role of the Crone

in a typical Triple Goddess formation in which there is a Maiden, a Mother

and a Crone. Hecate has also been known as the "Queen of Ghosts," the

Goddess of the Three-Way Crossroads" and the "Goddess of the Dead," and it

was there, at those three-way crossroads, that her followers held midnight

rituals in her honor. She was also believed to roam the Earth on moonless

nights, accompanied by her pack of hounds.

The Dark Goddess, Hecate, has been around for as long as anyone can remember

She was definitely pre-Olympian, and most likely Thracian in origin. The

Greek and the Roman pantheons each quickly cleaved her unto their breasts

and made it seem, for all intent and purposes, that she was one of their own

What we do know, is that Hecate existed as least as far back as when the

war began between the Olympians and the Giants.

While the other Gods chose to live on Mount Olympus, Hecate preferred to

live in the Underworld; sharing that place of darkness and death with Hades

and Persephone, and with Khanates, Hypos and Orpheus, the Gods of Death,

Sleep and Dreams. However, when Persephone was not on one of her three-month

visits to the Underworld, she went up upon the Earth and Olympus, to take on

her role as the beautiful Goddess of Springtime.

Hecate had great powers of her own outside of the Underworld, since she was

also the Goddess of the Night Sky. Hecate and Persephone were polar

opposites of each other, and when they left the Underworld to travel up to

the Earth, Persephone brought with her brightness and life, while Hecate

brought with her darkness, and all of the things that tend to accompany

darkness. It was Hecate who met the souls of the dead, and then led them

into the Land of the Shades from one of its entrances at Lake Verna. When

the souls of the dead went to enter the Underworld, they had to pass by

Hecate's sacred trees, the Willows and the Yews.

Willow trees were believed to be extremely important to witches, since they

supposedly were bound to them and helpless without them. It was in those

hidden caves surrounding Lake Verna that witches would gather to summon the

souls of the dead. The witches who worshipped Hecate usually did so at the

three-way crossroads, on the very blackest of nights, and on her holy days,

which were the Feast of Divine Life on September 21, Samhain on October 31,

and on November 16, which was known as the Night of Hecate the Three-Formed.

Hecate's followers usually worshipped her by leaving offerings of food,

rather then through sacrifice, which is what most people tend to associate

with a Dark Goddess. Hecate's sacred color was black, and her sacred animals

were the toad, a symbol of conception, and dogs; but more often then not, hounds.

Hecate is yet another of the Greek Goddesses of the Moon, and she represents

the third aspect of the moon which is the Dark Moon. She has been known as

the Hag, the Crone and the Dark Mother, and it was believed that she had

great wisdom and knowledge. She was also believed to be a keeper of secrets,

and of mysteries. Hecate was known, as well, as a Huntress Goddess, and she

frequently was depicted having the head of a boar, a horse or a dog.

Many people believed that Hecate had the ability to control the spirit world

as well as the powers of nature such as birth, life and death. Another myth

regarding Hecate was that dogs were the only ones that could hear her, as

she traveled across the Earth in the dark evening sky. It is from there that

the old wives tale comes from, which claims that when dogs bark at night

for no particular reason, they have actually done so because Hecate had just

been passing by. Some people have pictured Hecate as an Amazon Goddess,

travelling about in a chariot drawn by fire-breathing dragons, while her

powers of sorcery were believed to be the best in the world.

As far back as the eighth century, B.C.E., Hecate was depicted in an ancient

statue having wings on her back, and holding a snake in her hands. She was

also believed to be a shape-shifter, who could change her form, or even her

age, and rejuvenate at will. The most important thing of all, was that she

was believed to have the ability to kill.

Hecate was also known as Hecate Trevia, or Hecate of the Three Ways. She was

given that name because her statues stood at the three-way crossroads.

People would frequently leave offerings to her at those three-way crossroads

on evenings when the moon was full, and those offerings consisted of dogs,

honey and black lambs.

In the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Hecate was one of the parties who were

helpful in bringing Persephone back home. Zeus always had the greatest

respect for Hecate, and he would frequently seek her counsel, whenever he

had to deal with mortals on the Earth.

When the Titans ruled the world, Hecate acquired a great many privileges,

and Zeus had actually allowed her to keep them all. Hecate, however, had no

desire for more then she had, even though those privileges gave her great power.

When someone would pray to Hecate, and that prayer touched her, she

responded quickly and in a positive manner. Hecate gave her help to whomever

she pleased, whenever she pleased, whether she was granting victory in times

of war, or simply sitting back and letting destruction prevail, each according to
her own particular whim. Hecate was also known for the help that she gave to competitors and fishermen; but what Hecate can give, Hecate can also, just
as easily, take away. That is the power of Hecate.

A great many depictions of Hecate exist. Hecate was the Goddess of the Dark

Moon, which is the third aspect of the moon. She was also the Goddess of the

blackest of nights, when the moon was hidden, and she was frequently

associated with deeds of darkness. She was also known as the Goddess of the

Triple Pathed Crossroads, and as the Queen of the Night. When her festivals

were held, at those places where the three roads meet, they became perfect

times for divination and for communication with the dead. Hecate's followers

frequently worshipped her in the darkness, with only the flames of their

torches lighting their way.

During the early part of the Middle Ages, Hecate's reputation as the Queen

of the Witches grew in power, and she was usually envisioned in the role of

a Crone, which role is archetypal of the feminine mystique. A popular belief

during that particular period in time was that if these magical women had

the power to bring life into this world then, as they aged, they would also

gain the power to take that life away. It was for that reason that Hecate

became, in no uncertain terms, the Greek Goddess of Magick, and since she

became the Goddess of Magick, the connection between Hecate, death and the

Underworld continued to grow stronger as time passed by. There even came a

time when people were so fearful of Hecate, that they committed blood-sacrifices
in order to remain in her good graces. Darker still, is the belief that Hecate was
the patroness of a demonic group of vampires known as the Empusae.

It was because of those particular reasons that Hecate became a Goddess of

enormous intensity. It almost seemed as though it happened overnight, but

from that time forward Hecate was worshipped regarding every kind of

witchcraft, sorcery and enchantment that there was. It was then, as well,

that Hecate became known as the patroness of Medea, and of many other witches.

The cult of Hecate was one of the strongest cults in the ancient pagan world

and it was during the 11th Century, C.E., that the Christian Church condemned
any person who made an offering to Hecate at one of those places where the three roads meet.

In modern times, Hecate is more often then not looked upon as a Moon Goddess

and as the Queen of the Witches, although Wiccans, Neo-Pagans, and a

variety of other Goddess groups still comprise many of her followers.

Hecate appears in what might possibly be the oldest of the Triple Goddess

formations, appearing in all three phases of the moon, but more often then

not as the dark moon. That, however, is only the beginning; because when it

comes to Triple Goddesses and Hecate, there is more; so much more.

Hecate is a truly amazing Goddess, because she has been in, not only so many

different Triple Goddess formations, and so many different types of Triple

Goddesses, but also because of the many ways in which she is related to the

magickal number three, triads, and things that happen to be tripled.

First, let us first look at some of the more simple triads that reflect the

triple nature of Hecate, which are indicative of her rulership over the

three phases of the moon, and of her connection to the magickal sacred

number three. Some of these deal with Hecate's association with the

three-way crossroads, with her celebration on November 16, which is the

Night of Hecate the Three-Formed, with Hecate's tarot associations, which

are threes and the High Priestess; and with the fact that Hecate represents

the third aspect of the moon.

These Triads also appear as the moon's cycles: as the new moon, the full

moon, and the dark moon; and in the various cycles of life: as the Maiden,

the Mother, and the Crone. She has appeared, as well, in the three realms:

which are the Sky, the Earth, and the Underworld.

What follows are perhaps the most interesting of all. They are the many ways

in which Hecate can be seen as a solitary Triple Goddess or, in a different

light, as a Goddess who is a part of a Triple Goddess formation. In Greece,

Hecate was one of many Goddesses who were used in a variety of different

combinations, comprising the original feminine trinity which ruled Heaven,

the Earth, and the Underworld. In another of her Triple Goddess trinities,

Hecate appeared as a singular Triple Goddess, in which she was a young girl,

a mother and a crone, which are the attributes that are connected to the

three stages of power in the Divine Feminine.

It is Hecate, as well, who flourishes in a Triple Moon trinity, which

continues to exist to this very day. In it, she becomes the Goddess of Three

Forms, with the virginal Artemis/Diana on Earth, as the crescent moon;

Selene, the pregnant mother, in the night sky, as the full moon; and herself

in the Underworld, as the Crone, or the Dark Moon. In her role as the Dark

Moon, Hecate rules the darkness as the Goddess of the Dead and the Queen of

the Night. A three-faced image of Hecate also existed, representing three

separate aspects, and it became known as a Triformis. The Romans referred

to this Triple Goddess formation as Diana Triformis, since it consisted of

Diana, Persephone and Hecate.

Hecate has also been associated with the Moon Goddess, Selene, who appears

to be very similar in form to Hecate. In fact, Selena is actually so similar

to Hecate, that their emblems and their triadic conceptions are almost

identical. More often then not, these two Goddesses were considered to be

interchangeable; and a prayer that was offered to one, was actually a prayer

that was offered to either of them. This particular duality, which consisted

of Hecate and Selene, had three heads, carried torches, and took on the role

of the overseer of the three-way crossroads. Another triadic concept was

known as Hecate Trevia, or Hecate of the Three Ways, and it was that image

which guarded the three-way crossroads for many thousands of years.

Even though the Greeks may have tried to stress Hecate's Crone or Underworld

aspects, people continued to worship her in the exact same manner that they

always had, which was at the places where the three roads meet. Hecate's

worshippers truly needed to be at those specific places, because it was

there that they were able to perform their rites of magick. That image of Hecate,
which stood at the three-way crossroads, looked in all three directions at
the same time. That only helped to give Hecate the reputation for being an
all seeing and all knowing Goddess.

Hecate also appeared in another Triple Goddess trinity, as the Goddess of

the Night, of the Crossroads, and of Life and Death. In earlier times, the

Greeks also worshipped another Triple Goddess trinity, which consisted of

Persephone as the Maiden, Demeter as the Mother, and Hecate as the Crone.

Hecate has also appeared in a variety of Triple Goddess formations in which

she had three heads, with each head being that of a different animal. The

first of these formations consisted of the heads of a dog, a horse, and a

serpent, while the second one consisted of the heads of a horse, a lion and

a dog. Several other triple goddess trinities also existed, and they had

three whole bodies attached to their heads. The third Triple Goddess trinity

depicted Hecate carrying three heads, with each head facing in a different

direction. In that Triple Goddess trinity, one of the heads was usually that

of an animal, most often a horse, a dog or a boar.

Hecate, Queen of the Night, Hecate, Triple Goddess of the Moon, Hecate Queen

of the Witches, and Hecate, Goddess of Magick: these are some of the names

that belong to this special Goddess since, believe it or not, they represent

but a small fraction of all of her names. Hecate was, is, and always will be

an extremely diverse and powerful Goddess, with the ability to do great good

or great evil.

Are there ever any dark nights when your dogs become extremely excited, but

you know, or think you know, that nothing is wrong and that no one is out

there? Will you wonder now? Will you? Could that possibly be that Hecate is

passing your way on one of her many rounds across the dark night sky? Maybe;

but if you ever find yourself at three-way crossroads, on the very blackest

of nights, it might be wise for you to pray that Hecate grants your favor;

and always remember to keep watching in every direction at all times.

When you understand that you are a Vibrational Being, first and
foremost—and that your dominant intention becomes that of tuning
your Vibrational frequency to that of the Source within you—you
will provide the perfect basis for the cells of your physical body to
thrive. But if you are approaching your physical body from the usual
physical standpoint, noticing symptoms and analyzing your physical
condition, you will emit Vibrational resistance that hinders your
well-being. In other words, your Vibrational response to your current
condition makes it difficult to overcome any unwanted physical
condition. When you are able to find 15 minutes in every day to
relax and tune to the frequency of your Source, during that time of
meditation, all resistance and hindrance will cease, allowing the cells
of your body the opportunity to return to their natural state of
Well-Being. And your improved Vibrational state will then begin to spread
through larger segments of your day.At the root of your
physical condition is the condition of your cells. At the root of the
physical condition of your cells is a Vibrational pattern. At the root of
that Vibrational pattern is alignment with the Well-Being of the Source
within you.

Quado's Garden: Say Yes to Life

Posted by: "Ash" mhc4sure@yahoo.com   mhc4sure

Wed Dec 1, 2010 6:06 am (PST)

http://www.quado.com/quados-garden/050902.htm

Say Yes to Life

Today is
a day to say yes to life.  As you go through your day today, be aware when your
mind is saying no and turn it around.

Become aware if you are
mentally filtering life, sorting out potentials and possibilities and rejecting
them because they do not fit into your plans or previous perceptions, judging
people as not being quite right for you before you have even spent time with
them, assuming you would not enjoy certain activities you have never even
tried.

Today, begin by being aware
of all the times you say no.  And then, begin to say yes.  Start going to very
different events, talking to very different people, doing things you have never
done.  Allow yourself to explore things which are completely outside your
plans.  Assume that each person who approaches you has an important gift to give
you, of knowledge, of experience, perhaps even of love.  Open these gifts and be
grateful.

Life is a banquet and there
are many, many different kinds of foods on the table before you.  It is time to
taste something new, time for adventure.

Stone Soup Opening up and Sharing Emotions

Today lets make our Brew together, remember that story of stone soup?

Lets beging with adding things to our pot, this is a sort of meditation and does take imagination and visualization, you have to live and feel the part of our brew as we share together.

What I'm going to suggest is that simply you say one thing that is bothering you or making you feel down about yourself or life, visualize yourself standing in front of the couldron, feel the heat and see the brightness of the fire glow around the pot and against your body, simply then think of something that would help you or make you feel better and can even be something nice towards someone/or memory to make you feel better then we toss that into the pot as an ingredient. After you toss your Positive good thoughts you will then take a large paddle and stir the brew and as you turn it 3 times you will say your new positive intention and then we move on to the next person until all our good intents are then made into this large good soup together where we heal and share our feelings and friendships.

Ok lets begine, I close my eyes and visualize a huge black cauldron over an amazingly large fire, flames appear soft and wrap it's arms around that pot as it begins to bubble and steam rises as if arms and little hands hold that pot tight for us to add all our good intensions and good ol positive energy full of healing, happiness, friendship and love!

So I walk up to this amazing Pot and I'm going to share:

Next Person Please add your intents to the pot

Cher's Ingredients:

Tired of Arguments that make me feel like I'm invisible with my family so for today only, I will not argue and let these things bother me

I surrender myself and will be the better person and do something that makes me happy today....I think of potatoes LOL because they can change into so many different things as you cook them and I am amazing all all those different ways. I toss my thoughts of good will to myself in the pot and stirr the paddle three times...thank you for listening to my problems today ... Read More... Read More

Blessed Be!

1) LAW OF GRATITUDE
By Jim Philips

The law of gratitude is much like the law of gravity in that we know it
exists, we know to a certain degree what it is, we know that it is at
work whether we are consciously aware of it or not. We don't have to
think about gravity to know that it keeps planets in alignment and us on
the face of the Earth. We don't have to think about it to know that it
causes the ebb and flow of the oceans. With
gratitude however the more we are conscious and are aware of it and
express it, the more we are given for which to be grateful. The more we
demonstrate that we appreciate all that we have and all that is
available to us, the more the Universe responds by giving us more. So
just how does this law of gratitude work? When we demonstrate
gratitude, heartfelt gratitude, through our thoughts, words and deeds we
emit an energetic frequency of love, joy, peace and thankfulness. As
this energetic frequency is emitted it attracts like energetic
frequencies that open the way for similar experiences. The Universe
wants us to experience love, joy and happiness. Therefore it will
co-create with us those experiences that allow for these
feelings/emotions to be expressed. Being
in a state of gratitude allows us to be open and receptive to what the
Universe wants us to experience, in fact, what the Universe has promised
to us as our birthright. We live life with an understanding and
acceptance that there is an abundance of everything we desire readily
available to us at all times. Living
our lives with this abundance mentality dissolves all thoughts of lack
or limit to which we might become attached. By releasing limiting
thoughts and beliefs we make room for that which we truly desire and for
which we are truly grateful. By expressing gratitude we become
empowered because we no longer question our worthiness to receive
whatever it is we desire.
Keys to the Law of Gratitude:
1.Gratitude
must be heart-felt and sincere. It is expressed without the ego based
intention that you will receive something in return.
2.Gratitude is expressed/demonstrated in thought, word and deed.

3.Gratitude is expressed for anything and everything for which you have
been blessed without any judgment or thought about that which you do
not have.
4.When gratitude is expressed we ask that what we have been given be given to all others.

2) THE MOST POWERFUL NUTRIENT EVER DISCOVERED FOR EYE HEALTH
By Dr. Mercola
Scientists
long ago discovered that a class of naturally occurring pigments called
carotenoids held powerful antioxidant properties that are crucial for
your health. But only recently has one particular carotenoid jumped to
the forefront in terms of its status as a "supernutrient," becoming the
focus of a large and growing number of peer-reviewed scientific
publications. This
carotenoid is called astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is produced by the
microalgae Haematoccous pluvialis when its water supply dries up,
forcing it to protect itself from ultraviolet radiation. Astaxanthin
is leaps and bounds more powerful than beta-carotene, alpha-tocopherol,
lycopene and lutein; other members of its chemical family. Astaxanthin
exhibits VERY STRONG free radical scavenging activity, and protects your
cells, organs and body tissues from oxidative damage. What
makes astaxanthin so different from other nutritional elements? And
what can it do for your health? The answers to these questions will
form the basis of the remainder of this article, and I think you'll be
quite impressed.
Astaxanthin is in a League of its Own There are many properties that make this carotenoid special. Here are the main differences:
Astaxanthin
is by far the most powerful carotenoid antioxidant when it comes to
free radical scavenging: it is 65 times more powerful than vitamin C, 54
times more powerful than beta-carotene, and 14 times more powerful than
vitamin E.
Astaxanthin is far more effective than other
carotenoids at "singlet oxygen quenching," which is a particular type of
oxidation. The damaging effects of sunlight and various organic
materials are caused by this less-stable form of oxygen. Astaxanthin is
550 times more powerful than vitamin E and 11 times more powerful than
beta-carotene at neutralizing this singlet oxygen.
Astaxanthin
crosses the blood-brain barrier AND the blood-retinal barrier (beta
carotene and lycopene do not), which has huge implications for the
health of your eyes.
It is soluble in lipids, so it incorporates into cell membranes.
It is a potent UVB absorber.
It reduces DNA damage.
It is a very powerful natural anti-inflammatory.
No adverse reactions have been found for people taking astaxanthin.

It is virtually impossible to obtain the recommended daily amount of
astaxanthin from diet alone because there are only two prime sources:
microalgae and sea creatures that consume the algae (such as salmon,
shellfish, and krill).
Carotenoids 101
Carotenoids
are the compounds in your foods that give you that vibrant cornucopia
of color -- from green grasses to red beets, to the spectacular yellows
and oranges of your bell peppers -- as well as all of the beautiful
flowers in your garden. Almost all living things obtain their colors
from natural pigments. Beyond
their visual splendor, these pigments have deeper value in that they
carry out a variety of important biological functions. They are critical
to the photosynthetic process and protect the plant or organism from
damage by light and oxygen. Many animals incorporate carotenoids into
their diets, which provide them with antioxidants and a source of
vitamin A activity. By consuming a plant or organism that contains these pigments, you gain a similar protective benefit. There are more than 600 naturally occurring carotenoids, but most people are familiar with only a few. Carotenoids are classified into two groups: 1.Carotenes,
which contain no oxygen atoms: lycopene (the red in tomatoes) and
beta-carotene (the orange in carrots) are examples. 2.Xanthophylls,
which contain oxygen atoms: lutein, canthaxanthin (the gold in
chanterelle mushrooms), zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin are examples. Zeaxanthin is the most common carotenoid found in nature (peppers, maize, kiwi, grapes, oranges and squash). At
this moment, about ten different carotenoids are likely circulating in
your blood. None of the carotenes tested to date are able to cross your
blood-brain barrier -- but astaxanthin does.
All Carotenoids are Not Created Equal
Some
carotenoids (including beta-carotene, lycopene, and zeaxanthin) act not
only as antioxidants, but also as pro-oxidants when present in your
tissues in sufficient concentrations -- which is not a good thing. Astaxanthin is unique in that it cannot function as a pro-oxidant, making it highly beneficial. Zeaxanthin
is already abundant in your diet, provided you eat enough fresh,
raw, vegetables and some fruit. Your best source of lutein is from the
yolks of eggs -- but make sure they are organic eggs laid by free-range
pastured hens. Astaxanthin
is different in that you are probably not consuming much of it, and
certainly not enough to take advantage of all its benefits. Astaxanthin
is the most commonly occurring red carotenoid in marine and aquatic
animals, especially salmon, giving it its characteristic pink color.
Salmon and other sea creatures, like other animals, cannot synthesize
astaxanthin themselves and must obtain it from their diets, which
include zooplankton and krill. These smaller organisms feed on the
microalgae, which are the original producers of the pigment. Laboratory-made
astaxanthin is now commonly used worldwide to supplement fish feeds in
order to obtain the desired pinkish to orange-red color. However, wild
salmon are 400 percent higher in astaxanthin than farmed salmon, and 100
percent of theirs is natural astaxanthin, rather than synthetic.
Carotenoids and Your Eyes
When you were a child, odds are you were told, "Eat carrots -- they'll give you good eyesight!" There
is some truth to that old adage, as carrots contain carotenoids -- many
of which are important for your eyes. Vitamin A, or retinal, is vital
to your retina -- without it, you would simply go blind. But vitamin A
is readily available from your diet. Of
all the carotenoids, only zeaxanthin and lutein are found in your
retina, which has the highest concentration of fatty acids of any tissue
in your body. This is because your retina is a highly light and oxygen
rich environment, and it needs a large force of free radical scavengers
to prevent oxidative damage there. It
is theorized that your body concentrates zeaxanthin and lutein in your
retina to perform this duty. The concentration of these two pigments in
the macula of your retina are what give it its characteristic yellow
color. (The macula is actually called the "macula lutea" which literally
means "yellow spot.") Zeaxanthin and lutein both cross the
blood-brain-retina barriers, as astaxanthin does. It
is interesting that your eye preferentially concentrates zeaxanthin
over lutein in the central macular retinal area (called the fovea),
where the greatest amount of light impinges -- and zeaxanthin is a more
effective singlet oxygen scavenger than lutein. Your body seems to
naturally "know" this and accumulates it where it's most needed!
Protecting Your Retina with Astaxanthin
Vitamin
C can help protect you from retinal injury from excessive light energy,
and indeed, high levels of vitamin C are found in human retinal
tissues. But this common nutrient cannot do the job alone. Epidemiological
studies have shown that diets high in carotenoids (especially lutein
and zeaxanthin) are associated with a reduced risk of cataracts and
ARMD. It has also been shown experimentally that regular consumption of
lutein supplements can increase your macular pigment density, which may
potentially reduce your risk for later development of ARMD. Scientists
have studied lutein, zeaxanthin, canthaxanthin, and astaxanthin for
their respective abilities to protect the retina. But none function to
the degree that astaxanthin does, in terms of potency as a free radical
scavenger and/or permeability across your blood-brain-retina barrier. In
studies, canthaxanthin was actually found to be potentially damaging to
the eye as it caused eye inclusions, which can lead to retinopathy. So
this carotenoid was ruled out as a supplement. Dr. Mark Tso of the
Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University (considered by most
professionals to be the most prestigious ophthalmology training center
in the world) has clearly demonstrated that astaxanthin is the clear
winner when it comes to protecting your eyes. He discovered that
astaxanthin easily crosses into the tissues of the eye and exerts its
effects safely and with more potency than any of the other carotenoids,
without adverse reactions. Specifically,
Tso determined astaxanthin could ameliorate or prevent light induced
damage, photoreceptor cell damage, ganglion cell damage, and damage to
the neurons of the inner retinal layers. He
concluded that astaxanthin supplementation could be effective in
preventing or treating a whole host of eye diseases, including: Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD)
Diabetic neuropathy
Cystoid macular edema
Central retinal arterial and venous occlusion
Glaucoma
Inflammatory eye diseases (i.e., retinitis, iritis, keratitis, scleritis, etc.) Other
researchers (Shimidzu et al, Bagchi, Martin et al, and Beutner) have
since confirmed Dr. Tso's finding that astaxanthin is the most powerful
antioxidant ever discovered for eye health, giving your eyes an
additional layer of long-term protection.

3) REDUCING HOLIDAY STRESS WITH BREATH AWARENESS
By David Krajovic

Holidays are often stressful. Despite the fun and excitement of this
time of year, it is hard to get by without added stress. With good
intentions we take on new tasks and activities to ensure a happy holiday
for our family and friends. We do more than time allows. This leaves us
tired, exhausted and secretly looking forward to when the holidays are
over so we can rest. As the favorite Christmas song goes, "And mom and
dad can hardly wait for school to start again." It's a paradox. You love
the holidays but don't love how you do it and wish there was a way to
do it with less stress.
You Can Make A Difference There
is something you can do, something that is in your control, something
that can relax you and up your energy level at the same time. You can
actually become more present and enjoy more of the holidays in ways you
never thought possible. Does that sound like something you would like to
experience? You can do this by taking some deep breaths and becoming
aware of the way you breathe.
Stress Affects the Way We Breathe Stress
is the condition of wanting something one way when the event or action
is headed another way. If that thing does not happen, then I will not be
happy. Or if this other thing happens, then I will be unhappy. Our mind
is often out there somewhere in the future, planning this contemplating
that. How we are going to get it all done, we ask. In essence, we are
living in the future rather than the now. We miss a lot of the joy of
the season as we run around trying to please everyone. This stress
causes our breath pattern to become rapid and shallow, blood pressure
increases, and we become numb to our surroundings.
Slowing Down Your Breathing Slows Down Your Stress It
seems hard to slow it down but it's not. When you bring awareness to
your breath, you slow it all down because when you are aware of the
breath you are aware of the breath in this moment. Therefore, you cannot
be in the past or the future. You can only be here now. Through
presence, you gain energy and clarity and open to a whole new world
around you. You will find it easier to balance your life as you make
choices of a higher nature. You will find yourself enjoying the holidays
like never before. So when you are feeling stressed, try the following:

1. Observe your breath? Is your breath short and shallow? Is it in the
chest or belly? Are you breathing or hardly breathing? We often stop
breathing when we are under stress.
2. Take a deep breath in and count the number of seconds it took to breathe in.

3. When you exhale, breathe out twice as long as it took to inhale. If
you inhaled on a count of four, slow down your exhale to a count of
eight.
4. Clear you mind. Think about nothing. Sometimes it's hard
to do but if you focus on feeling the breath move through you this will
be much easier. You will be in the moment not with some thought in the
future or past.
5. Repeat for three full breaths.
6. Note how you feel.
The Benefits of Breath Awareness You
will notice everything slows down. As the mind slows down, the focus of
the mind actually increases. You will be less distracted and mental
clarity will increase allowing you to make better decisions. You will be
less stressed; blood vessels will dilate and your blood pressure will
decline. All good things for you and your body. It's a gift you can give
yourself. Minutes a Day Can Change Your Life This
technique takes about 60 seconds to practice. It takes no time at all.
There are no excuses for not doing it. The key to achieving lasting
benefits is frequency and repetition. This is a practice. It needs to be
done frequently to create a more permanent change in your vibrational
frequency. We are all human, and we forget. Place reminders around your
house. Some suggestions: put a sticky note on your bathroom mirror and
one on your refrigerator, place a note on the dashboard of your car,
change the screensaver on your computer, place reminders in your
calendar, get your family involved and remind each other. Do this
together and you will be amazed at the connection you feel for each
other. Minutes a day is all it takes. Practicing
breath awareness regularly brings inner stillness, peace, feelings of
open heartedness and love. Isn't that the real Spirit of the Season?
Peace and Joy to you this Holiday Season. Breathe Well! Be Well! Live Well!

Jennifer Hoffman: My Way Or the Highway

Ascension Insights --
 My Way Or the Highway

Greetings!

December 1, 2010
Hi everyone,
What
do you do when you try hard to please someone and no matter what you do
they refuse to see things your way or to compromise with their
position? They want their way, no matter what and they want you to honor
their path, fears and needs no matter how much it costs you in terms of
time, energy, or emotions. You are at an impasse and you have to make a
choice that you don't want to make-to tell them 'no', and then deal
with the consequences of their anger, do what they ask and then be angry
with yourself or walk away and risk that they will cut you out of their
life (which may actually be a good thing).

Or
you can be that person, feeling that you have to defend your place in
life against everyone else and things have to go your way or not at all.
Everyone in your life presents a challenge to your freedom and energy
and you feel you must always assert yourself to ensure that your needs
are met.

We
face power struggles in our life every day and sometimes we have to
decide between several unappealing choices. But we can only see it from
our perspective and we don't see what is really going on with the other
person. What do they want when it's 'their way or the highway?' What are
they afraid of? What needs do they have that are not being met in their
life? Why do they have to put their needs above everyone else's?

People
who are very determined to get their way may be loud, angry,
confrontational and even rude but at their core they are so afraid their
needs won't be met that they feel the only way to do that is to force
everyone around them to comply. And because they are loud and angry when
they don't get their way, many people do what they ask to avoid the
hassle of trying to reason with them.

If
we look at the difficult people in our lives a little more closely, the
ones with a 'my way or the highway' attitude, we can see that they are
very needy and are desperate for approval and attention. At some point
in their life they did not get the love they wanted in the way they
wanted it and they are going to ensure that they get it now. As far as
they are concerned, everyone in their life is a source of meeting their
needs. And that includes you, if you are part of their circle. What do
you do? How can you meet their needs and maintain your boundaries?

Lessons
in boundaries often involve people who stretch our boundaries to their
limit. Can we maintain our boundaries under pressure? Every situation
provides a variety of choices, even with the loudest, most demanding
people. We can give in because we don't want to face their anger or we
can look at their neediness and respond in a way that addresses their
needs without doing something we do not want to do. And we can realize
that we can't make everyone happy and if they are not willing to
compromise then we need to look at ourselves and the kind of people we
are attracting.

If
we have made it a habit to give in to them, it may take a few times for
them to understand that the terms of the game have changed and we are no
longer going to say 'Yes' to everything they want. We may have to be
willing to put up with a little anger and resentment and that is where
we back down because we establish our boundaries and then want everyone
to agree with them. They may not and probably won't. And sometimes they
will resent us for it. But that's OK because it's not about one person
winning and the other losing, it is about compromise and you are not the
person who must always compromise your position or yourself.

But
we take that to mean that we are wrong, our boundaries are unacceptable
or we are not doing enough to help others. Everyone has needs they think
are important. When those needs aren't met they become afraid and
strike out at the person they think isn't meeting them. That is when we
can take a good look at what we do to avoid challenges and, more
importantly our level of responsibility to others.

We
can take on the responsibility for solving others' problems and meeting
their needs or realize that everyone is powerful, we all have the same
source of power and we choose how we use our power in our lives. By
thinking that others are powerless we take on the responsibility for
their life and then offer our power to them. The greatest gift we can
give to others is to see them as powerful and to recognize their inner
power. Whether they can make the connections to it is their
responsibility. And we can step aside and let them do that in their own
time.

We're
coming into the end of a challenging year and this month is going to
give us many opportunities to create strong boundaries. These are not
necessarily to keep others out, although they can do that, but to help
us manage our own energy. Who are we always doing things for, whose
needs do we put above our own, who is the priority in our life? Any area
where this is a question is an area where you can be sure to get a
lesson in creating boundaries that honor you and allow you to always act
in integrity with your priorities, your self and you own needs. You can
help others but not by assuming responsibility for their happiness.

And
the people who approach who with a 'my way or the highway' attitude can
be invited to sit down with you at the compromise table or you can send
them down their highway, bless them and tell them to enjoy the trip.

Keep the faith, we're all in this together and time is moving quickly. Become the observer in your life as you stay focused on your path.

In
these interesting and transformational times, we can be overwhelmed by
what is happening in our lives but there are always other solutions.
Here are a few things to help you get through the difficult moments in
your life:

Stay calm, focused, detached and aware and remember your thoughts are creating every moment of your life. Think the best ones.

As you ponder this and the other things that are happening at this time remember to:

Accept all gifts of understanding with gratitude and use them to apply forgiveness, release and healing to every situation.

Ask for guidance and confirmation and then wait for it to come to you.

Above all, be grateful for this
opportunity to be part of humanity's amazing shift in consciousness as
we all ascend into the miracle vibration.

Many blessings in these miraculous and amazing times,

The Christian Lens: Why Goddess Worshiping Greeks Had No Pornography

Greetings All,

Hot off a wildly successful presentation at Boston University, we have
returning guest blogger, Dr. David Hillman, author of The Chemical Muse.
You might remember Dr. Hillman, a self proclaimed servant of the
Muses, supporter of women and Goddess Advocate. His scholarly
discoveries and research, once censored, are now coveted as academics
realize the error in their thinking and begin enthusiastically embracing
his body of work. Be one of the first to read the latest of what some
may call controversial, but textually sound scholarship, and feel free
to leave your comments for David. And don't miss the end of the
article where I'll provide links to David's previous blog entries here
and links to our radio show interviews on Voices of the Sacred Feminine,
where David retains the distinguished ranking of one my top ten interviews.

I think you'll enjoy reading and listening to Dr. Hillman. He does not
rely on others translations of ancient Greek. He can translate on his
own, consequently, he has a lot to say that's not tainted by the
Christian lens, which helps us understand what the Greeks really meant
about important topics.

Travel Divination

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Dec 1, 2010 8:35 pm (PST)

Travel Divination
Incense of the day: Coriander

If there is an upcoming trip that you feel uneasy about, perform this simple divination using a bowl of water and a stone. When you are alone, place the bowl of water
on a table and sit in front of it. Ask whether you should undertake the
journey. Be very specific in your wording. Meditate for a few minutes,
and request your spirit guides to be present with you. Drop the stone
into the bowl of water, and pay keen attention to the ripples created.
An even number of ripples means the answer to your query is "yes." An
odd number indicates "no." Thank your spirit guides, and pour the water
down the sink. Wash
the stone, and store it in a pouch.

Today's Goddess: NINA Pan-American Health Day (United States)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Dec 1, 2010 8:35 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess:NINA
Pan-American Health Day (United States)

Themes: Health; Cooperation; Dreams; Magick; Meditation.
Symbols: Lions; Fish; Serpent (her sacred animals)

About Nina: A very ancient Mother Goddess figure in Mesopotamia, Nina has many powers, including healing,
herb magick, meditation, dream interpretation, and helping civilization along when needed. Today we will be
focusing on her healthful attributes and knowledge of herbs to improve well-being for the winter months.

To Do Today: Pan-American Health Day focuses on worldwide cooperation in the public heath field. On the home
front, do everything possible to make your home and body healthy and strong. Beginning in your living space, wash
the floors using sage water, and burn a sage smudge stick. This herb decreases germ infestation and is magickally
aligned with Nina's energy. As you go through your home, carry a small bell and add this incantation:

Nina, come and make us well;
banish sickness with the ringing of this bell.

Ring the bell in each room at the end of the incantation. In many religious traditions, bells are considered to scare
away the evil influences that cause sickness.

To overcome a troublesome malady, put a picture of one of Nina's sacred animals under your pillow to invoke a
healing dream. This tradition is very old and sometimes results in healthful energy being conveyed through your
dream, or in a dream that shows you what to do for a cure.
