The new moon is a potent
and magickal time of the month to look deep into our souls to discover what is
needed to be released and brought into ourselves and our lives. When this
magickal act is done in ceremony, it sets the stage for deep healing and
personal transformation to occur.
This monthly circle will
work in a shamanic context to create a sacred space for New Moon magick to
transform ourselves and our lives. While working in Harmony with the
Healing Spirits of the Universe, each participant will have opportunities to
deepen their relationships with their personal spirit guides to aid the
transformational process.
Please bring drums,
rattles, an eyeshade or bandana, and any other sacred items you wish to place on
the altar. If you already know what new moon intention you wish to work
with, feel free to bring in a physical representation of your intention to be
placed on the altar.

Greetings!
As the weather gets cold and the world outside is preparing for its winter slumber, I have been having a great time preparing for the upcoming year. While I take off January from teaching to do personal work and reconnect with my family, the spring will be chocked full of exciting new offerings.
You can find class and event schedules below. I may also be offering some open rituals as well so keep your eyes peeled for more information on that. My Assembly study group, Spirit Egg Study Circle is still open for new members. If you are interested in private study, hands-on training, and the possibly of joining a coven, this would be your magickal opportunity. Please let me know if you would like to register for any events or get more information about the study circle.
At Mystic Spirit a new round of Wicca 101 classes will start. These classes are designed to give you hands on experiences and knowledge that you can immediately go home and use to enhance your personal practice. Dates for these workshops will be decided upon soon:
February Casting the Wiccan Circle
It has been said that if all that was left of the Wiccan religion was the Wiccan circle casting, the religion could be reconstructed. Get hands on experience with what a circle is and how to start using it in your own practice or take your casting skills to the next level.
March Energy Work and Psychic Awareness
Regular energy management, grounding, centering, cleansing, and energy exercises build not only a healthier daily life, but can give you access to more magickal power. Come learn some new practices to make your power grow, magick flow, and hone your psychic awareness.
April Green Magick
Herbalism, food preparation, gardening and herb-craft can become more effective when you develop relationships with the plants and plant devas also called plant spirits. We will discuss techniques for working with devas and sensing plant energies as well as how to make using plants in your life more rewarding using green magick.
May Chakras
Chakras are energy centers used in many traditions throughout the world. Working with these centers can give you access to self healing, awareness, and energetic health. We will mainly focus on the aspects of the 7 and 8 spinal column chakras but will mention secondary chakras as well.

The qabala is a magickal system that is a model the universe. Much of Wiccan theology and magick (such as Tarot and Astrology) are rooted in the Qabala. This class starts to answer the question "what is qabala" and why it is important to pagans.

Good Evening Shining Ones,
Happy Holidays! May the true spirit of the season rest serenely in your hearts as we journey through this magickal time of our year.
I am facilitating two shamanic drum circles this month. The first is a New Moon Shamanic Drum Circle which will be held this Friday, 12/10, at 8pm at Practical Magick II in Pompton Lakes! For those who enjoy working with the lunar cycles, this circle works with new moon intentions to aid in the transformation of ourselves and our lives in magickal ways.
The second is our monthly Shamanic Healing, Drumming, and Journey Circle which will be held next Friday, 12/17, at 7pm at Peaceful Paths in Butler, NJ! We will be working with the energies of the Winter Solstice to help us shift into new, deLight-full ways of being.

December Circle Focus: From Darkness To Light
In this circle, we will work with the energies of the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice is the time of year when we greet the longest night of the year. After this point, the Sun greets us more and more each day until Summer Solstice.
We will discover what parts of ourselves are ready to emerge from the darkness into the light. A releasing ceremony will help clear away what has kept this part of ourselves in the dark, and we will birth this new part of us to grow with the Light.

About Ix Chebel Yax: In Guatemala, this Goddess bears a striking resemblance to Ix Chel in
that she teaches spinning, weaving, and basketry to humans. More
important, she is a mother figure who watches over all household
concerns from the moon, her home.
To Do Today: Part of the Guatemalan advent season, this festival finds people
burning bundles of garbage in ritual fires to banish the spirit of evil, negativity, and sin from their midst, especially from the home. Doing
so also purifies the people, keeping them healthy and staving off
hunger. Go through your living space and gather up any garbage
(including items that have been wanting for a trip to the secondhand
shop). Find one item that can be safely burned, and snip a swatch off of it. Release it to any fire source to burn away any tensions or sickness troubling your home.
Afterward, clean as
much of your house or apartment as time will allow. Invoke Ix Hebel
Yax's blessing by placing a spool of thread in the room where you're
working (white or green thread are good choices for peace and health,
respectively). Carry this spool from room to room, then put it in your
pocket for the day to keep the Goddess and her providence close by.

Pasty Recipe Spell
Incense of the day: Sandalwood
Ancient
people gathered as much food as possible so it would last them
throughout the long winter months. Hearty food was often served in
Celtic countries in the winter. This included oatmeal with butter and
milk, soft cheeses, root vegetables, nuts and berries, bread, and dried
or salted fish and meat. In later times, pasties or pastry pies were
served. These consisted of baked dough toasted around a meat, fish, or
vegetable filling. These were so popular that it was said the devil
would not come to Cornwall for fear of being put into a pie! Here is a
recipe for traditional pies to share at your winter rites and
ceremonies. Combine one pound of flour with a half pound of butter,
three eggs, and hot water. Roll out the dough on a board three times.
Then cut it into six-inch circles, place the filling in the center of
the circles, and fold them over to make a half moon shapes. Cook at 350
degrees until they are golden.

Mistletoe Herb of Solstice
A most sacred "herb" of the Druids and ruled the Winter Solstice. Considered to be an all-purpose
protective herb. It is Masculine in nature, ruled by the sun and the element Fire.
Traditional Uses:
1) Wear around neck (sewn into or put into a white pouch) as a protective amulet.
2) Wear around neck in small spell bottle w/ red cording as Lucky Winter Charm.
3) Sew into white pouch and hang anywhere (house, car) for protective purposes.
4) Sew into red pouch and kiss your love beneath it to keep your love forever.
5) Use in floor wash to attract patrons to a business.
Other magical uses: Healing,immortality, love, luck, protection, Renewal, Success, Used by Druids to see
beyond the cycle of rebirth.

Magical Mistletoe Spell
Druids used the magic of mistletoe for festivals throughout the year, including Midsummer and Yule. Evergreens
were considered magical because they didn't wither away each year like other plants, making them seem immune
from death. Mistletoe also seemed to defy nature by growing in the upper branches of trees rather than on the ground.
The Druids called it "all-heal" because of its potent healing properties and its use as a fertility aid. Mistletoe that grew
atop oak trees in sacred groves was considered particularly powerful. Call on the magic of this wonderful plant by
threading a string of small white Christmas lights through the upper branches of a tree at Yule or at any time of year.

Winter nights give us an opportunity to see one of nature's great exhibitions: the star-filled sky. How many
of our forebears saw the features of their gods and goddesses in those stars! In the many eons of prehistorical
time, our ancestors studied the stars so closely that they have left astonishingly accurate star-maps all over the
world, even predicting eclipses that have not yet occurred.
How much more distant we are today from the stars and from the earth. Once every child could find her way
home on a dark night by noticing the positions of the stars. What intimate connection was forged between the
heavens and the earth, when a star stood, like a beacon or a street sign, revealing directions and illustrating myths.
As we sit by the starry blue light of our cathode tubes indoors today, have we really gained so much?

WHAT IS VORTEX HEALING?
Vortex HealingÆ is a form of energy therapy that works with divine healing energy and divine consciousness that is channeled through the practitioner into the client. Event Details: Normally, our spells and magickal workings tend to focus on drawing our needs and desires toward us, but The Art of Banishment focuses on those circumstances where we might want to keep something away from us. This 2 hour intermediate level workshop (which continues the series begun by Crafting the Art Magickal (Spellwork) and Personal Energy Fields, but also may be attended as a stand-alone class) will present the theories behind banishment workings and will offer powerful, ethical, and practical methods to effectively banish the unwanted from your life.
Nancy Fader's ("Raushanna") love of belly dance deepened as she learned of its long history and use as a sacred dance of Goddess worship. This, combined with her lifetime love of nature and animals, led Nancy to seek spiritual fulfillment in Wicca; she is a Third Degree dedicant of a teaching coven into which she was initiated in 2005.
