Re: Wishing Darkness on Ourselves...How can that be?

My Mother was pregnant with me, and forced into a marriage she did not
want. After that every life's disappointments became my fault. So I find this
very destructive thought rolling in the back of my mind, "If my own Mother
does not love me, how can anyone else".

We all have these thoughts, I am too fat, I am to tall, I am to young, to
old, to late, to early, on & on this thoughts go. Most the time we are not
even aware we are thinking these things. Some thoughts are even worse, "If
it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all." "Bad things always
come in three."

All these bad thoughts are the creation of our own doom. You can't stop
these thoughts, but you can slow them down, and you can work on adding good
thoughts in the jumble. When thoughts of my Mother roll in my head, I just
start repeating in my mind, "I am loved", because no matter how bad life is,
the God and Goddess do love us.

I spend 30 minutes a day say positive affirmations. This time spent
thinking good thoughts, will help balance out the bad thoughts that pop unwanted
into my head. Be a policemen to your brain. Pay attention to your thoughts,
when bad things come up, challenge them, and repeat good thoughts. Just by
policing these thoughts, we can change our lives to be open to magic, and
miracles. You are Blessed, Meriya Michelle

Wishing Darkness on Ourselves...Wishing Darkness on Ourselves...<WBR>How
can that be? Why would you wish darkness on yourself when light is all around
you? There are times we just can't
get us down constantly thinking about negative things in our lives
and never stopping for a moment to realize the universe is full
of positive things which we ignore the most. how can we help ourselves?

DailyOM: Cultivating the Seed Within

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

DailyOM - Peace
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

August 3, 2011
Cultivating the Seed Within
Peace
We can learn to locate the seed of peace inside ourselves in order to have a reliable source of serenity.

In our noisy world, we often find ourselves longing for peace and searching to find it somewhere else. While it’s true that there are places we can visit where we can experience peace, such as sacred sites or buildings, we do not need to wait until we get to one of these places to feel at peace. Instead, we can learn to locate the seed of peace inside ourselves and cultivate it so that it grows into a reliable source of serenity that we can always access, no matter where we are.

We experience peace when we are in a state of mental calm and serenity. It might surprise you to notice how infrequently you allow yourself to be free from anxiety. Realizing this is the first step to inner peace. If you wait until all the details of your life are taken care of to allow yourself to experience peace, you will never feel peaceful because there is always something that your mind can grab onto to create anxiety. It is important to consciously set aside your worries and make time to cultivate inner peace.

Ideally, you could schedule time each day to meditate on peace and experience what it feels like to be calm and serene. It takes practice to learn how to let go of your worries, so give yourself some time. Inhale deeply, and feel your worries dissolve with every exhale. Remind yourself that soon enough you will be able to take care of everything you need to, but right now you are taking a break. As the clutter of your thoughts and concerns clear away, you will start to feel more serene. Allow yourself to move deeper into this state with each inhale. Realize that you have the power to free yourself from anxiety simply by deciding to do so. The more you practice feeling peaceful, the easier it will be for you to feel at peace.

Why Do some get shunned away when they come and call upon some for h

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Aug 3, 2011 7:52 pm (PDT)

Why Do some get shunned away when they come and call upon some for help?????

I got this letter, keeping it anonymous, but this is an interesting subject and thought it would be good to discussion and life lesson, Especially if your Clergy, Teachers, Healers, Mentors, HP, HPS, Elders, even the youngsters now calling themselves elders, this message is to all......here is the message:

I wasn’t sure how to post a grip in the groups  but if you can re post and maybe re-word it  that would be fine……..

I am totally surprised at all the men and women who are on witch-vox, ( Just The New Jersey section )  over the last two month I received e-mails and phone calls from men and women who are looking for answers to their questions, now I know within the craft allot of things are kept secret but to shun away people who are just looking for answers is not a pagan way.

We fight for the right to be accepted and get mad when we are not!

My thing is if you don’t know the answer to a question JUST SAY you don’t know, don’t give an attitude and tell young/old witch-lings to buzz off ( and I am being nice about that ) the men and women who contacted me, showed me the e-mail responses they got  I could not believe it and from people I thought were more knowledgeable and understanding  then I !

I had always been taught that what is freely given should be freely given back. We are taught to listen to nature and to listen the gods, and goddesses of our understanding but how can you be true to your beliefs when you turn your back and say hurtful things to others this is not right I met and even talk to the people over the phone for hours and they are really good people, people that if I met at a party I would go out of my way to get to know cause they are just that cool we all know that type of person, that person who if we needed cheering up they would be the first one there to cheer us up we all have a friend like that “ Don’t we?”

But it seems that all these so called elders and mentors are just for themselves and screw everyone else and are the first ones to preach about tolerance and yet don’t even show it. We must try and join together and be one no matter what path you follow we are taught to be one, to be in tune with the deities of our understanding. we ask allot of our deities on a daily basis and we know that what we ask will come to pass but if we turn our backs on others, what we ask will not be fulfilled.

ALLOT OF US FORGET THAT THE GODDESS AND THE GOD places people in our lives for a reason and sometimes to test us……………….

What's Happening Today

Mercury in Retro Aug. 2 till Aug. 26, miscommunications, arguments not making scenes, emails, phones, electronics messing up, baby steps this month!

The Lady of the Lake - On the first Sunday in August, the Welsh used to make pilgrimages to Llyn y Fan fach (a lake near Llanddeusant in Dyfed) to watch for the annual reappearance of the fairy from this lake who married a mortal but returned to the lake the third time he struck her. Before she left, she bequeathed her knowledge of herbal medicine to her sons, who became the ancestors of the renowned physicians of Myddfai.

When I visited Wales many years ago, I made a special pilgrimage to Myddfai (although not in August). It was a pretty little village but not a soul was around, not even a dog or a cat, although it was the middle of the day. I have to believe it is indeed an enchanted place. Blackburn, Bonnie & Leofranc Holford-Strevens, The Oxford Companion to the Year, Oxford University Press 1999

Tiu Chen (Laying Down Needles), Weaver Woman - On the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, the Chinese honor the Weaver Woman who wove the robes of the deities. All needlework is admired on this day. Girls put a needle into a bowl of water and look at in the sunlight. They inspect the fineness of the shadow and the patterns it makes (of flowers or clouds) for predictions of the quality of their needlework.

At this time of the year, the star Vega (known to the Chinese as the Maiden) seems to cross the Milky Way (which the Chinese called the Bridge of Magpies) and join the star Altair (known as the Cowherd). The myth which explains these stellar movements tells about how the Cowherd and the Maiden were going to be wed. She was so happy she stopped weaving. The Sun-God ordered a flock of magpies to bridge the Heavenly River and ordered the Cowherd to cross to the other side. Now the two only meet once a year on this day, when the Magpies form a bridge for the Maiden to cross. But she cannot do so if it rains, so women pray for clear skies. They also ask the Maiden for skill in needlework and make offerings to her of cakes and watermelons.

Tun Li-Ch'en has a slightly different version of this legend, which he says is often enacted as a play on this holiday. The Spinning Damsel (identified with the constellation Lyra) was banished from Heaven to earth where she met and married the Oxherd (identified with the constellation Aquila). When she was forced to return to Heaven, he tried to follow but was blocked by the Milky Way. Only once a year, when magpies form a bridge over the Milky Way, can they see each other again.

See these stars in the night sky at this wonderful skywatching link.

Chang Chin-ju writes that in the Tang dynasty, one Buddhist deity was depicted as a baby holding a lotus flower and laughing. On the seventh of the seventh, which he calls a festival for unmarried women, boys parade through the streets holding lotus flowers. He thought this might be connected to the idea that the lotus (a symbol of fertility because of its many seeds) helps mothers produce boys. Li-Chen records a similar custom on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month (see August 11). My guess is that two holidays are getting confused here. It makes sense that the 7th of the 7th is a festival for unmarried women, whose specialty is needlework (much like St Catherine, patron of spinsters and spinners) while the carrying of the lotus leaf may have more to do with rebirth.

Goddess For Today:  Triduana Pilgrimage to Loch mo Naire (Scotland)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Aug 3, 2011 8:25 pm (PDT)

Goddess For Today:  Triduana
Pilgrimage to Loch mo Naire (Scotland)

Themes:  Banishing; Health; Protection
Symbols:  Water; Oak

About Triduana:  In Scotland, this goddess rules over sacred water sources, from which she
selflessly gives of her elixir to all who ask in humility.  Many of her wells are said to dwell
beneath oak trees, ancient symbols of protection and well-being.

To Do Today:  Since the 1800's, people have been coming to Loch mo Naire around this time
of year to heal their body, mind, or spirit.  People sip a bit of the water and bathe in it three times,
giving an offering of silver coins to the generous water spirit there.  For us this means drinking eight
glasses of water today, as is often recommended by physicians for improved health.  This helps
flush our toxins and draws Triduana's healing energy into our bodies.

Another custom easily followed is that of taking off one's clothes and walking backward to banish
sickness.  Both of these actions symbolize a turning away or a change.  If possible, choose
backward to a place where you can put on fresh clothing and don Triduana's blessings!

Interestingly enough, oak leaves have long been considered excellent health charms.  If you can
catch one before it touches the earth, you ensure yourself of Triduana's protection and a month without colds

Spiritual Growth Spell

Spiritual Growth Spell

This is a great time to receive the powers of creativity and spiritual
growth. Find a private spot near a lake or stream. If this is not
possible, you may use any body of water you can find-a sink or tub full
of water, or even a puddle. Sit in quiet meditation, visualizing the
spirit connecting with you. You may stay in this state as long as you
wish, but when you return to consciousness, say this: "Healing,
knowledge, and mental powers all come from your creativity. I am
requesting eloquence, self-control, and guidance to wisely use these
powers. Expand my mind with your great power. For these gifts, I
graciously thank you."

Indian Poet, Ramakrishna

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Wed Aug 3, 2011 8:34 pm (PDT)

O Kali, make me mad with love for you!
Why should I need a mind? Why should I
need knowledge or reason, when I have you?
Let me be drunk with you, mindless with love,
O Goddess who steals all our hearts!

This world's your madhouse, where we laugh
and weep and dance for love of you.
Jesus, Buddha, Moses -they were mad,
and drunk upon your love! Let me join them,
mother Ka, let me be that mad for you
 ~ Indian Poet, Ramakrishna

Intoxication with the Divine or Divine Madness, is a part of many spiritual traditions. To one drunk on Kali,
the mundane world slips away. Reality appears as it truly is:vast and incomprehensible and glorious.

It is too easy to become burdened with the apparent necessities of life. There is always laundry
to be done, errands to be run, phone calls to be returned. The lists are endless. But in a hundred years,
or a thousand, will anyone ever know whether you finished your daily list? Those drunk on Kali know the
truth. They know that only  the experience, however fleeting, of unity with the cosmos is worth life's pain
and suffering. Meditate on Kali, Ramakrishna tells us, and all becomes clear.
