And then we become the bullies and the cycle continues merrily onward.

I have to agree with you Don. We don't need a prophecy to tell us it's
happening. We're already screwed. We just don't know it yet.

It is my thought that all of these doomsday prophecies are misinterpreted.
They don't indicate the end of the world, but rather the end of the world as
we know it. I see them as indicating that the scourge of the patriarchal
religions, such as Christianity, and Islam, will end or weaken quite a bit,
so that other, more humane religions will take over. At least this is my
hope, but since I am 72, none of them will affect me personally. I will be
gone.
Of course there is another thought. Humans are overpopulating the Earth
rapidly and using up resources faster than ever before in the history of the
Earth. We don't need a doomsday calendar to tell us that it won't be long
before people will start dying at great rates due to the lack of resources -
clean air, nutritional foods and water!

Knotted Love Spell

Knotted Love Spell

October 21
Thursday

Color of the day: Crimson
Incense of the day: Nutmeg

St. Ursula, the Christianized version of the Teutonic Moon goddess, is
celebrated today. It was said that St. Ursula sailed down the Rhine River with
11,000 virgins in attendance. Her retinue was hijacked and slaughtered by the
Huns, and St. Ursula became the patron of single women.

If you're tired of being single, take a red candle, a picture of yourself, a
photo of your potential love, and a length of red ribbon 22 inches long. Light
the candle and center. Tell St. Ursula about your love. Sell her on the idea of
the two of you as a committed couple. When you've made your case, place the
pictures of you and your love face to face and seal them together with melted
wax from your candle. Now take the red ribbon and wrap it around your pictures,
knotting it 11 times. Thank St. Ursula and leave her an offering of a croissant
at the foot of a tree.

Elder's Meditation of the Day October 21

Elder's Meditation of the Day October 21
"There is one God looking down on us all. We are children of the one God. God
is listening to me. The sun, the darkness, the winds are all listening to what
we now say."

--Geronimo, APACHE
The Old Ones before us knew things. Many of them were so spiritual that the
Creator told them things through visions, ceremonies, and prayer. The Creator
taught them about interconnectedness, balance and respect. The Old Ones
experienced these things and told us we are all children of the same God. We
all live under the same natural laws. Every human being, every animal, every
plant, every insect, every bird, we are all the same in the eyes of God.

Great Mystery, teach me to respect all the things You have created.

How did you commune to Mother Earth today?

How did you commune to Mother Earth today?

I went outside this morning and listened to songs from falling leaves and gentle
winds, I took a nice long walk and watched the squirrels and chipmunks dancing
around picking up acorns and nuts and went home with the biggest smile on my
face and a feeling of peace! Our mother loves us and we can share her love
within everything around us.

Does anyone take a moment and listen to what our Mother has to say through our
Earth and animals all around us? What are some of your plans this weekend to re
connect?

This is something I need to get back to, I love to stand in my backyard and
watch the dogs run and see the wind in the trees, this time of year see the
leaves change. I've been quite remiss and letting work and election stuff
get in the way :(

Thought for Today: Like A Star

Like A Star

At the end of the day, on the wings of your
thoughts, go beyond the cares and troubles of the world. Remove your
mind from everything and everyone, and become blissfully detached, like a
star.

Like a star, be free to radiate light, for your essence is light and peace. Enjoy the simplicity of the night sky, the peace. And then, when you want to, you can shoot down to earth.

Dogs in Mythology

Dogs in Mythology Psychopomps; The Significance of the Crossroads The
crossroads serves as a luminal space, a threshold, where the veil
between the worlds is thinner. You may meet a ghostly hound at the
crossroads, his natural place, for he is beloved of Hekate, the Queen of
Night. For the pathways of Hekate are the pathways of the
night.Accompanied by barking dogs, she leads a ghostly followers. Hounds of Annwn In
Welsh mythology, Arawn rides with his white, red-eared hounds (the Cwn
Annwn or Hounds of Annwn) through the skies in autumn, winter, and early
spring. The baying of the hounds is identified with the crying of wild
geese as they migrate, and the quarry of the hounds are the souls of the
damned, being chased back to Annwn.Although visible to earthly dogs
that howl with fright when encountering the Cwn Annwn, the Hounds of
Annwn can't be seen by ordinary human beings. Do dogs have supernatural abilities? While
some may no longer believe that dogs can see the death-bringing hounds
of Annwn or are aware of Hecate at the crossroads foretelling death, our
faithful companions are credited with the ability to detect ghosts, and
their barking, whimpering or howling is the first warning of
supernatural occurrences. When a dog howls in an otherwise silent night,
it is said to be an omen of death, or at least of misfortune. My
grandmother used to say that a howling dog at night meant somebody close
would be very sick.Do dogs have supernatural abilities? While
some may no longer believe that dogs can see the death-bringing hounds
of Annwn or are aware of Hecate at the crossroads foretelling death, our

supernatural occurrences. When a dog howls in an otherwise silent night,
it is said to be an omen of death, or at least of misfortune. My
grandmother used to say that a howling dog at night meant somebody close
would be very sick. The Guardians Dogs are natural guardians Hercules
capturing CerberusHades' guard dog, Cerberus, was carried up from the
Underworld by Heracles in one his Labours. The similarly-named Cerbura
is the three-headed infernal dog of the Krishna legend and a faithful
dog named Katmir remained alert and guarded seven Muslim boys while they
slept for 309 years. Some black dogs are said to be unquiet ghosts of
wicked souls, but others are friendly guides and protectors to
travelers. The Ancient EastAssociation with the Threshold Early
Sumerian people paid homage to the dog-headed goddess Bau and she has a
close parallel in Anubis of Egypt.Bau, principal goddess of the Lagash
area, was associated with healing, and her alter ego was a dog. (Her
name is onomatopoeic, it sounds like a barking dog).Anubis is portrayed
as a man with the head of a jackal-like animal. Unlike a real jackal,
his head is black, representing his position as a god of the dead. There
is a beautiful statue of him as a full jackal in the tomb of
Tutankhamun.Anubis was a psychopomp, said to guide the souls of the dead
for their judgement. Both gods are associated with death and the liminal
zone. Ghostly HoundsDogs in folklore and legend These
canine guardians can be frightening too. There are many instances of
black dog ghosts haunting lanes, bridges, crossroads, footpaths and
gates, particularly in England and the Isle of Man. Packs of ghostly
hounds have been recorded all over Britain, often heard howling as they
pass by on stormy nights rather than actually seen.In the folklore of
old Europe, the dog is seen as both the guardian and consumer of dead
spirits, as in the 'Wild Hunt' where a pack of dogs with a master of the
hunt flies through the sky looking for lost souls. He also turns up in
Egypt, Siberia, and North America.According to the Vedic mythology of
ancient India, the dead must pass by the four-eyed dogs of Yama, king of
the dead, and Greek mythology tells of the dog Cerberos, popularly
endowed with three heads, who watches the entrance to Hades and there is
the Egyptian Anubis, with the head of a dog.The Celts have their
legends also, of white, red-eared hounds. But the concept of the
underworld watchdog reached its fullest and most complex expression
among the Germanic peoples. These hounds generally foretell death if they
are seen and to be safe, you must drop face-down onto the ground to
avoid the sight of them. The Phantom Black Dogs of BritainAnd
a dreadful thing from the cliff did spring, and its wild bark thrill'd
around,His eyes had the glow of the fires below,'twas the form of the
spectre hound. There are many names for this terrifying
visitor. Galleytrot, Shug Monkey, the Hateful Thing, Hell beast, Skeff
or Moddey Dhoo and in the south of England you will hear names like Yeth
or Wish Hounds. In Yorkshire he is known as The Barguest and is most
commonly a huge black dog with large eyes and feet which left no
prints. The Black Dog most likely originated from the Vikings who feared
the hound of their God Odin All=Father, and brought their tales and lore
to England. The name Shug seems to go back to Old English (at least
pre-1000 CE). In the Old English epic poem Beowulf, the monster Grendel
is described as a Scucca (demon)- would Scucca have been pronounced like
Shuck? The poem also says of Grendel that him of eagum stod ligge
gelicost leoht unfaeger , 'a fire-like, baleful light shone from his
eyes' ...Whatever the origin of the Black Dog, beware
of him, for it is said he is still to be found in the wild lonely places
of North England today. Posted by Lady Abigail

The Lioness

Abundance
Timing          Community

Take
a deep breath and let the spirit of the lioness fill you.

Click here to Listen to the Lioness' Song.

Abundance and power are
yours, for you are the lioness.

With the lioness energy
within you, you will become a great provider, able to go out into the world,
successfully meet the challenges of life and bring home the bounty for yourself
and your loved ones.  There is no need to worry about whether you will succeed,
for you are the lioness.

The lioness will bring you
the gift of perfect timing.  She will teach you when to lie low and blend with
the surroundings and when to leap out and go after what you desire.  Your
intuitive side will strengthen as you develop the skill of sensing what is
around you and knowing exactly when to make your move.

The lioness is also very
strong physically, fast and agile.  Breathe in deeply and feel her power within
you, healing you and bringing you physical strength.

And once home, let her teach
you to relax completely, enjoying the company of others, nuzzling and purring as
you build a community of safety and abundance.  How blessed you are to be the
lioness!

Quado's Garden: Imagine Your Life without Fear or Doubt

Imagine Your Life without Fear or Doubt

Today, recognize
fear
in your life and send it away. Fear is a bully and if you face him down he has
no choice but to run. He will run before strength and action.  He will run
before faith and perseverance.  He will even run before patience.

Fear loves to hide under
various disguises.  Sometimes he is called Tension or Anxiety.  Worry is one of
his favorite names.  Shyness is another.  Apathy and Boredom are some very
secret names that he has.

If you are not living your
life full of action and engagement, embracing life with zest and vigor, then dig
a little deeper and see if fear is hiding in the corners of your life, along
with his sidekick doubt.  Shine the bright lights of self-Love and faith on
them.  And then act.  Do what you fear, over and over, and fear will lose his
power over your life.

Imagine, just imagine, what
you might do with this precious life of yours if you had no fear and doubt!
Yes, this is the way to live.  And you have it within your power to do so.

'May we live in peace without weeping. May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing. And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating.'   The Universal Heart Center   http://www.freewebs.com/moshayra

"Our obligation is to give meaning to life, and in doing so to overcome the passive, indifferent life." -Elie Wiesel
If we spend our whole lives looking for meaning in tomorrow, we'll
miss out on the opportunity to live meaningfully today. Only we can
decide what matters, and only we can choose to live each day in
alignment with that purpose.
Meaning isn't a place you arrive at when you find the perfect job.
It's doing what you love, regardless of where you're at in the game. And
it isn't solely about professional ambitions. It's also about daily
choices: what you stand for, how you show it, and who you help along the
way.
How can you honor your purpose today to tap into joy and give back to the world?

Discovering Happiness through Purpose in 3 Natural StepsOct 21, 2010 02:12 am | Guest

by Scott Dinsmore
"The person who lives life fully, glowing with life's energy, is the person who lives a successful life." ~Daisaku Ikeda
In everything we do, we seek happiness. Or at least what we think will bring happiness.
But this goal can often get us into trouble. It's how you find
yourself in a career that doesn't represent you, consuming things
lacking real value, and living a life that misses its impact on the
world.
Most of the things we think create happiness, don't.
We get caught in a spiral and life suddenly becomes a race to be won
instead of a game to be played and enjoyed. Our focus on 'success' as
society calls it, blurs our more important intangibles of life–our
relationships and experiences.
The fear (and sad reality for many) is that we wake up 30 years from
now, stressed, unhealthy and unfulfilled, wondering what on earth
happened to those wonderful dreams we once dared to dream.
I'll tell you what happened. We fell into the trap of being what
others felt we should be as opposed to who we were meant to be. Other's
dreams became ours, only to realize they never mattered to us in the
first place. We adopted the world's definition of success instead of
understanding and pursing our own.
Well there is good news. No matter when you wake up to this reality,
it is never too late to take a stand and travel down that fresh path.
In all of my experience as a friend, writer, husband, personal
freedom coach and citizen of the world, there is nothing more consistent
with unhappiness than spending your time in a way that doesn't serve
who you are. And to the contrary, there is no more profound source of
fulfillment and happiness than knowing you are traveling your own path
and making the dent in the world you know you're capable of.
The simple answer to lasting happiness: Living Your Purpose.
While purpose is a nice concept that is often overused in the
personal development space, it can be a lot to sink your teeth into.
It's one thing to believe in the idea but an entirely different one to
vicerally experience and live it.
Until you find your own life path, you will forever be trying to
follow someone else's. The inauthenticity will eat you up. Without a
path, your true potential will be lost. But to confidently begin the
journey, you must better know the traveler–you.
3 Steps to blazing a trail and discovering your purpose:
1. Know your Values.
These are your building blocks. What's most important to you above
all else? I'm talking the zero compromise areas of who you are. Family,
health, freedom, honesty, intimacy, playfulness, love, adventure,
achievement. The list is infinite.
Pick your top few. Prioritize them. What events and experiences allow you to feel them? This is your foundation. Your compass.
2. Know your Super Powers.
We all have things we naturally knock out of the park. Your core
strengths. Some might even call them gifts. Is it public speaking,
teaching, analysis, social interaction, influencing, positivity,
discipline, problem solving? Most of us have a gut feeling of what these
are.
What have past experiences shown? What have people consistently
complimented you on? What's you favorite type of project to put your
heart into? The book Strengths Finder 2.0 is an awesome place to start.
3. Know your Passion Moments.
We've all had them. A moment or time in your life when you felt
invincible. It could come during a work project, caring for a child,
exploring a new place or cooking a meal. Anything as long as you feel it
at your core. You've likely had more than one.
Keep a list of these Passion Moments. And noticing this in others is
just as important. What have you seen people around you do that inspire
purpose? This list will never stop growing and with every addition, you
gain more clarity on what lights a fire in your belly.
"Don't be pushed by your problems; be led by your dreams." -Unknown
Note: The above are huge topics. For a much deeper dive, I invite you to spend some time with The Beginner's Guide to Being Congruent, where I've compiled the most powerful resources I've found on understanding your purpose and traveling your path.
Notice opportunity and do something about it.
The intersection of your true values and super powers, backed with
relentless passion, is where the magic happens. It's where adventure
ultimately begins.
It takes confidence to set out on your own. No two of us are the same
and no two of us will have the same path and impact on the world.
Recognize this and let it serve as your inspiration. With the right
tools anything is possible. Your Values, Super Powers and Passion
Moments are those tools. With them you can go though life with open
eyes, able to notice even the hint of when your purpose is calling.
Expect these opportunities. Be waiting for them. When you know what you're looking for, they'll start to appear.
It may be in the form of a new friend, career, volunteer position or
random adventure. If it lays at the heart of who you are, recognize this
and do something about it. These chances pass by only once. Now it's on
you to weave them into your story. You are no longer a spectator.
You are not meant to live anyone else's life.
Why would you want to anyway when you can live your very own? This is
what will impact the world in a way that no other can. Happiness is not
something we finally reach one day. It's something that becomes a part
of every day or none at all. Happiness not experienced today does not
mean more happiness tomorrow.
Once you've found your path, the superficial destination the world defaults to becomes unimportant. Comparison
disappears and all of a sudden it's the travel itself that becomes
meaningful. No longer are you trying to get somewhere. You're there.
Simple as that. You're there today and you'll be there tomorrow.
That's happiness.

Pagan Symbols: Hekate's Wheel

Posted by: "Ash" mhc4sure@yahoo.com   mhc4sure

Pagan Symbols - Hekate's Wheel

Hekate's
Wheel is a symbol used by some traditions. It seems to be most popular
among feminist traditions, and represents the three aspects of the
Goddess -- Maiden, Mother and Crone. This labyrinth-like symbol has
origins in Greek legend, where Hekate was known as a guardian of the
crossroads before she evolved into a goddess of magic and sorcery.

According
to fragmentary texts of the Chaldean Oracles, Hekate is connected to a
maze which spiralled around like a serpent. This maze was known as the
Stropholos of Hekate, or Hekate's Wheel, and refers to the power of
knowledge and life. Traditionally, a Hekate-style labyrinth has a Y in
the middle, rather than the typical X shape found at the center of most
labyrinths. Images of Hekate and her wheel have been found on
first-century c.e. curse tablets, although there seems to be some
question about whether the wheel shape itself is actually Hekate's
domain or that of Aphrodite - there was some occasional overlap of
goddesses in the classical world.

Brightest Blessings,
Lady Julie

DailyOM: Worth the Time

DailyOM - Meditating More When Our Plates Are Full
Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Worth the Time
Meditating More When Our Plates Are Full
When you make time for meditation, it actually helps you get through a busier
day as we are given what we need.

Ironically, when we get busy, the first thing that tends to get cut back is our
meditation practice. We have less time and a lot on our plates, so it makes
sense that this happens, but in the end it doesn't really help us. Most of us
know from experience that we function much better when we give ourselves time
each day to sit in silence. And the more we have to do, the more we need that
solitary, quiet time for the day ahead. As a result, while it may sound
counterintuitive, it is during busy times that we most need to spend more time
in meditation rather than less. By being quiet and listening to the universe, we
will be given what we need to get through our day.

Expanding our morning meditation by just 10 minutes can make a big difference,
as can the addition of short meditations into our daily schedule. The truth is,
no matter how busy we are, unless we are in the midst of a crisis we always have
five or 10 minutes to spare. The key is convincing ourselves that spending that
time in meditation is the most fruitful choice. We could be getting our dishes
done or heading into work earlier instead, so it's important that we come to
value the importance of meditation in the context of all the other things
competing for attention in our lives. All we have to do to discover whether it
works to meditate more when we are busy is to try it.

We can start by creating more time in the morning, either by getting up earlier
or by preparing breakfast the night before and using the extra time for
meditation. We can also add short meditation breaks into our schedule, from five
minutes before or after lunch to a meditation at night before we go to sleep.
When we come from a place of centered calm, we are more effective in handling
our busy schedules and more able to keep it all in perspective. If more time in
meditation means less time feeling anxious, panicky, and overwhelmed, then it's
certainly worth the extra time.
