Autumn is a time of change. The lazy pace of summer quickens into harvest. The
still air begins to stir with brisk winds that bring the autumn rains. The
colors brighten from placid greens to fiery reds and yellows, then fade to
brown. As the seasons change, so do our lives. The pace quickens or slows. Old
things that no longer serve us must be released so that we can take up new
tools and challenges in the future. Think of four things you want to
release—bad habits, bothersome memories, broken relationships, anything that
holds you back. Write each one on an autumn leaf and toss them into the wind to
be carried away. Walk among the fallen leaves, without looking back, and chant:
Gold and brown
Gold and brown
Wind blows up and
Leaves fall down
Let go of hindrances as the trees let go of dead leaves.

The Creator gave each culture a path to God. To the Indian people, he revealed
that the Creator is in everything. Everything is alive with the Spirit of God.
The water is alive. The trees are alive. The woods are alive. The mountains
are alive. The wind is alive. The Great Spirit's breath is in everything and
that's why it's alive. All of nature is our church, we eat with our families in
church, we go to sleep in church.
My Creator, let us leave people to worship You in the way You have taught them.

attune ourselves to their rhythm. We will also spend time with our ancestors
who will teach us about life after death.

Every month, this sacred circle ebbs and flows in accordance to how Spirit
calls. Some circles mirror a more traditional drumming circle, while others are
focused more on personal/global healing. Most every circle will feature at
least one journey for personal healing and exploration in a way that weaves
with the month's focus. All circles, though they may have varying focuses, are
in alignment with the natural Earth, Moon, and Cosmic cycles. The voices of all
participants are heard as we work and play in Oneness.

Growing Pains
Difficult Times
We are like children, and the universe is our wise mother who knows what our
souls need to thrive better than we do.
It can be very challenging to maintain a positive attitude and a measure of
faith when you are in the midst of difficult times. This is partly because we
tend to think that if the universe loves us we will experience that love in the
form of positive circumstances. However, we are like children, and the universe
is our wise mother who knows what our souls need to thrive better than we do.
Just as a young child does not benefit from getting everything she wants, we
also benefit from times of constriction and difficulty to help us grow and
learn. If we keep this in mind, and continue to trust that we are loved even
when things are hard, it helps us bear the difficult time with grace.
This period of time in history is full of difficulty for a lot of human beings,
and you may feel less alone knowing you are not being singled out. There are
extreme energy changes pulsing through the universe at every level and, of
course, we are all part of the growing process and the growing pains. It helps
if we remember that life is one phase after another and that this difficult time
will inevitably give way to something new and different. When we feel
overwhelmed we can comfort ourselves with the wise saying: This too shall pass.
At the same time, if you truly feel that nothing is going right for you, it's
never a bad idea to examine your life and see if there are some changes you can
make to alleviate some of the difficulty. Gently and compassionately exploring
the areas giving you the most trouble may reveal things you are holding onto and
need to release: unprocessed emotions, unresolved transitions, or negative ways
of looking at yourself or reality. As you take responsibility for the things you
can change, you can more easily surrender to the things you can't, remembering
all the while that this phase will, without doubt, give way to another.

SUN TWISTER: Earlier today, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) recorded a
spectacular eruption on the sun's northeastern limb. An unstable magnetic
filament hundreds of thousands of kilometers long pirouetted and launched a
fragment of itself into space. Earth was not in the line of fire, but the SDO

ASTEROID FLYBY: Asteroid 2003 UV11 will fly past Earth on Oct. 29th and 30th at
a distance of only 1.2 million miles. Experienced amateur astronomers should
have little trouble photographing the 600-meter wide space rock as it glides

About Aramati: Translated, Aramati's name means "piety". So it is that this
Indian goddess embodies the attributes of religious devotion and selflessness

To Do Today: Kartika is the Hindu name for the period between October and
November, and it is considered a sacred month in which acts of piety will be

There are many ways to heal an ailment, whether it be of mind or body or soul. A
common way is to attack it as
though it is an enemy; chemotherapy, for instance, attacks the body that harbors
renegade cancer cells. Much
contemporary medicine works on this principle of antagonism. A parallel in the
spiritual realm is attacking a habit
or idea, attempting to destroy it, whether in the self or in others. In both
cases, damage is done beyond that which
has been declared the enemy; healthy cells are killed, good energies dampened.
Another approach is that taken in the Cherokee chant above. Reasoning that fever
was hot, it was then connected
with the sun. The sun, which had caused the fever, has the power to remove it.
Therefore the appropriate thing to do
is to pray to the sun, win her attention with flattering words, using a kind of
homeopathic spiritual healing. In our
emotional and spiritual lives, similarly, we can attend to what we wish to
eliminate rather than rejecting or attacking it.
Often transformation occurs when all the aspects of the self are equally
embraced.
