Friday Finds An Idea!
Friday January 27, 2012
9:00 am - 10:00 am
(This event repeats every week.)

Notes:
As we know the goal is to live our lives magically in the moment every day in the now and while it would be nice to go and buy all the cool witchy stuff that is out there...their is so much in every day objects that we can use around the home.
So here is what I suggest...Post up an every day object once a week and let the creative juices flow and post up what we would or could possibly use it for magically.
I thought it would be kinda cool and inspiring...whatcha think..

Namaste'

IMBOLC, Feb. 2, Morris Plains NJ
By Lorraine Henrich

When: Thursday, February 2, 2012
Time: 7:00pm until 9:00pm
Location:
415 Speedwell Avenue
Morris Plains, New Jersey

Traditionally, February 2nd is celebrated as Brighid’s Day, St. Brighid’s day, Candlemas, and Imbolc. We are at the halfway point of winter and, although the cold winter winds nip at our bones and a blanket of snow envelopes the Earth, the hope of the sun burns in our hearts. The image of this day is the bride awaiting her groom to come and bless her with his warmth at spring.

The focused energy is love and the Goddess Brighid is evoked to ignite the flames of love within our hearts and in Greek and Roman traditions the Goddesses celebrated are also Love Goddesses.

On this special day you are invited to join us for an evening of love magick. Together we will create special candles to bring love energy into our hearts and attract love into our lives. Whether you wish to create love, strengthen love, or purify the love in your existing relationships, this night is for you!

Suggested Donation: $25 and potluck dish to share

Some Info on Imbolc:

St. Brigid, Brigid, Feast of Lights, or Candlemas, on February 2, is the festival of the Goddess Brigid, patron of poetry, healing, and metal smithing. Brigid's poetry inspires me to shake off winter's sleep now, stretch and start to get ready for Spring. I am still drowsy. The word Imbolc means "in the belly," or in the womb of Mother Earth, as well as "in milk," which refers to ewes coming into milk for the first lambs of the season.

This Sabbat marks the return of spring, even as winter continues it's reign.
In ancient times, people honored the Goddess Brigid in her guise as the
waiting bride of the youthful Sun God. A modern tradition at this Sabbat is
"Groundhog's Day," based on an old British rhyme that says, "If Candlemas Day be bright and clear, there'll be two winters in the year."

Imbolc celebrates the eventual return of spring. Fertility rites are important and appropriate now. The ancient Celts honored the fertility goddess Brigid at this time, who was adopted into Catholic theology as Saint Bridget. The God is now being raised by the Goddess as a young boy.

Imbolic is a time of cleansing and purification, for discarding outworn things
or the passing year in preparation for the warm spring days ahead and to
make room in our lives for the Earths's new bounty. Rites of initiation and
consecration of altars and ritual tools are often conducted at this Sabbat.

The customs of Imbolc include ritual "spring cleaning" of the house, to banish
the last vastiges of winter and hasten the growing days.

Candlemas, Olimelg, Brigid
Sabbat begins sundown, February 2; Fire Festival of Cerridwen, We prepare light so that our goddess may find her way out of the darkness and return to us; Cerridwen, the triple goddess of poetry, smithcraft, and medicine, presides. We bid farewell to the horned god.

A Winter Cleansing Spell

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri Jan 27, 2012 9:26 pm (PST)

A Winter Cleansing Spell

During the
winter, negative energies can accumulate in our homes. Protect your home with this spell. At night build a fire, and onto the flames scatter
nine whole cloves. As the fire burns say, “Spirits dance, spirits
mingle. Bad spirits depart, good spirits linger.” Using your ritual
fire, light a black candle. Place this candle in front of a window, and
surround it with two or three small mirrors, placed facing the window.
Now say, “Into the blackness, into the night. Bad spirits take flight.”
Visualize the candle’s flame being reflected by the mirrors through the
window, taking with it any negativity. Let it drift peacefully into the
night. Repeat this spell on Mondays or Tuesdays if needed.  ~ James Kambos

Chinese Tao te Ching

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri Jan 27, 2012 9:32 pm (PST)

At the world's beginning
there was a mother.
All beginnings partake
of that mother's energy.

To know this world,
first know the mother.
Then, go forth and learn
to know the world.

Then go back to her. Go back
and hold fast to her.
Hold fast to the mother, and
you will never be in danger.
 ~Chinese Tao te Ching

Everything
that exists partakes of the goddess. But we cannot know her directly.
Rather, we know her through the universe that expresses her and that
surrounds us. Studying this world, and studying ourselves, is the only
way we can truly learn to know the goddess. Look at the sky, the black
earth, the green living things that surround us. Look at the movements
of animals, graceful and hungry and free. Watch the flights of birds,
the great movements of sea mammals and fish, the ice-flow of glaciers,
the frozen rippling time incised on great mountains. These are all ways
to know the goddess.

We ourselves participate in the divine
feminine. Whether male or female, we each hold her within ourselves. Our
route to the goddess is only partially through understanding the world
around us. It is also through understanding our hearts: our most
frightening and needful urges as well as our brightest and most ecstatic
ones. Embracing all that we are, we also embrace her, in whose image we
are made.

Today's Goddess: FULLA  Up-Helly-Aa (Shetland Islands)

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Fri Jan 27, 2012 9:33 pm (PST)

Today's Goddess: FULLA
Up-Helly-Aa (Shetland Islands)

Themes: Abundance; Protection; Cycles; Magick
Symbols: Gold-Colored Items; Hair

About Fulla: The Teutonic sister of Frigg, Fulla visits us with fulfillment this
year, just as her name - which means "fullness" - implies. In legends,
Full had long golden hair bound by a golden band. She guarded her
sister's enchanted basket of slippers, giving her an additional
association as a protectress of magickal tools.

To Do Today: In metaphysical traditions, hair is sometimes used to empower them. In
this case, to evoke Fulla's protection over your magickal tools, use a
piece of your own hair. Pull one strand and adhere it in some manner to
any tool that you want guarded from undesired energies. As you attach
the hair say,

Full, safegard this ___, even as you mind-
fully guarded Frigg's treasures.
If the hair ever falls off, re-create the spell.

The festival of
Up-Hell-Aa has ancient origins and closely resembles Viking funereal
rites, except that it's meant for the season of winter! People on the
Shetland Islands gather to watch the burning of a longship. The fire's
golden flame lights the way for spring's and Fulla's abundance. It also
expels evil spirits. In keeping with this custom, light as many lamps or candles as you can in your home, ideally yellow ones, and leave them on for a while to cast out any lingering darkness.
