Power Animal of the Day: Rhinoceros

The Rhinoceros

Presence
Commitment          Tolerance

Take
a deep breath and let the spirit of the rhinoceros fill you.

Click here to Listen to the Rhino's Song.

Ah, what strength and power
is yours, with the rhinoceros energy within you.

The rhinoceros will bring you
great power and will also teach you how to use it to great effect.  He will
teach you to position yourself in strength, so that you need only stomp your
feet and give out a few snorts to let others know that you mean business.  And
if this is not enough, take a deep breath and become aware of your great horn,
lower your head and let your body and manner show who you are.  You
will find that you can exert power through your newfound presence alone.

The rhinoceros will also help
you to get a thicker skin.  You will no longer be bothered by the petty comments
and actions of others.  You will learn to live in harmony with those around you,
appreciating that even the very annoying can be of service to you, like the bird who sits upon the rhinoceros' back and keeps
the insects away.

The rhinoceros also brings
the very special gifts of commitment and follow-through.  Stable and strong, he
observes carefully, but when he decides to charge, he does so with complete
commitment to a successful outcome.  There is nothing that can stand in your way
when you decide what to do.  You hold great power now, which you may release at
will, allowing you to successfully accomplish what you might never have even
tried before.  Just breathe in your rhino power, lower your head and charge.

You are the rhinoceros and
you will prevail.

Quado's Garden: Imagine Your Life without Fear or Doubt

Imagine Your Life without Fear or Doubt

Today, recognize
fear
in your life and send it away. Fear is a bully and if you face him down he has
no choice but to run. He will run before strength and action.  He will run
before faith and perseverance.  He will even run before patience.

Fear loves to hide under
various disguises.  Sometimes he is called Tension or Anxiety.  Worry is one of
his favorite names.  Shyness is another.  Apathy and Boredom are some very
secret names that he has.

If you are not living your
life full of action and engagement, embracing life with zest and vigor, then dig
a little deeper and see if fear is hiding in the corners of your life, along
with his sidekick doubt.  Shine the bright lights of self-Love and faith on
them.  And then act.  Do what you fear, over and over, and fear will lose his
power over your life.

Imagine, just imagine, what
you might do with this precious life of yours if you had no fear and doubt!
Yes, this is the way to live.  And you have it within your power to do so.

'May we live in peace without weeping. May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing. And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating.'   The Universal Heart Center   http://www.freewebs.com/moshayra

Take time at Yule to enjoy family and friends.

Let's look at some ideas for sharing the season with family and friends -- we'll talk about ten great gifts you can give your Pagan and Wiccan friends, ways to celebrate Yule with children, and books that any Pagan family will want to have on hand at the winter solstice.

It's hard to find Yule greeting cards commercially, and often when you do locate one you like, they can be expensive. Go Out a-Wassailing

The tradition of wassailing (pronounced to rhyme with fossil-ing)is hardly a new one. In centuries past, wassailers went from door to door, singing and drinking to the health of their neighbors. If you think your family or friends might enjoy starting up a new, musical tradition, why not gather them together to go out a-wassailing for Yule? Read More

Pagan Yule Songs

A reader writes in asking, "I've been looking for some songs I can sing to the gods of my tradition at the winter holidays. I saw a few Christmas carols where someone had substituted "Goddess" for references to God and Jesus. Would these be good Pagan songs to sing at my Yule ceremony?" Let's talk about Yule songs -- and you can tell us which ones you like the best too: My Favorite Yule Songs

Tomorrow: Get Crafty for Yule

Tomorrow, we'll look at some great Yule crafts you can put together, including hand-made ornaments, magical incense and potpourri, and the traditional Yule log.

Fw: DailyOM: Harmonizing with the Universe

Today's DailyOM brought to you by:

Harmonizing with the Universe
The Benefits of Singing
Singing is an act of vibration. It takes music from the realm of the unformed and moves it from within to without.

Singing is an act of vibration. It takes music from the realm of the unformed- whether that is in your mind or from that magical space of inspiration- and moves it from within to without. From the first breath singing moves the energy in a circular way inside your body. As the breath fills your lungs, it brushes against the second and third chakras葉he centers of creation and honoring self and others. Instead of merely exhaling, pushing the air past the fourth and fifth chakras where heart charka and the center of will and intention reside, singing engages both the heart and mind. Sound vibrations from vocal chords resonate in the sinus cavities, filling the head with motion and sound while the brain lights up with the processing of the mathematics of music. This marriage of activities brings the third eye into play and opens the door for inspiration from the crown chakra before sending the sound out into the world.

Once the vibration begins, it is sustained with each note, moving throughout your body and the space around you. This can help you to harmonize your frequency with the world and with the divine. The use of the voice can bring about catharsis, a cleansing from the expression of emotion, which is why we feel better after singing certain types of songs. All of this occurs even if we are not conscious of what we are singing, but when we really connect with an intention, the power of the voice and music together are powerful tools in creation.

Even if you are not a singer by nature or talent, you are not left out. If you have a voice, it is your birthright to celebrate life with song. It doesn't matter if you don't feel you have a nice voice. Chanting or humming, singing solo or with others, your voice is yours to enjoy. Whether you sing along to the radio or use vocalization as part of your meditation time, singing and harmonizing are healing activities that bring your body's vibrations into alignment with the universe.

THE RITUAL OF CANDLE-LIGHTING

THE RITUAL OF CANDLE-LIGHTING
.
Light a different color candle each day, and bring more good into your life. This is a powerful
medium that you can use in the creative process of lighting your thinking—which means lighting
your life. This ancient practice results in total self-empowerment. In our increasingly mechanistic
world, a more spiritual and personal approach is needed by us all. Candle-lighting helps you fashion
a personal approach with beauty, warmth, and radiance.

Ancient and modern wisdom teaches that what you think about happens: energy always follow
thought. The wise now, as then, use this most simple of tools, the candle, to visualize and
manifest—via affirmation, meditation, or prayer—new conditions into their lives or to snuff out the old and
unwanted thinking patterns and their undesirable consequences.

As you light the appropriately colored candle for a certain goal or
purpose, you begin the journey of lighting, and therefore experiencing,
your life as you desire it to be. You can think or speak aloud your
Meditation via the candle flame or write your wish on a piece of paper
placed beneath the candle.

Remember that a burning candle should never be unattended, especially in the presence of children or pets.

Light a Green Candle for Money ~ Employment ~ Plants & Gardens ~ Calming ~ Healing ~ Revitalizing
Meditation: I am employed, and am always employed, by that Self of me that is
greater than I am. I do not come into or fall out of its service; I am
always there.
It
expresses as me and serves up continuously perfect opportunities,
stimulating responsibilities, delightful conditions, and generous
compensation. I am happy,
taking charge, taken care of, and fulfilled. So it is!

Daily Aromatherapy -Peppermint vs. Spearmint

Peppermint can sometimes over power a blend. Use Spearmint in your blend when you want a fragrance
that's less harsh. The therapeutic properties are just about the same and I think Spearmint is a fresher scent

Traditional Carol

Posted by: "Cher Chirichello" CHIC0411@YAHOO.COM   chic0411

Thu Dec 9, 2010 8:19 pm (PST)

Tomorrow will be my dancing day,
I would my true love would so chance,
to see the legend of my play,
to call my true love to my dance.
Sing, O my love, O my love,
my love, my love.
This have I done for my true love.
~Traditional Carol

In Greece, this was the period called the halcyon days - the weeks before and after the winter solstice.
The name comes from that of an ancient heroine, Halcyone, who loved a fisherman named Ceyx. A dream
told her that her beloved had died at sea, and so she stood thereafter by the seashore, finally catching her
lover's body as it washed to shore.

Transported by grief and unquenchable longing, Halcyone burst out of human form into the shape of the first
kingfisher, and her dead mate magically revived and joined her in the same shape. So kindly did the Greek
divinities look on this loyal love that they blessed the couple. Now, when the kingfisher is ready to lay its eggs,
a calm descends on the sea until they hatch. These are the halcyon days, a term used of any period of calm and peace.

Mercury Retrograde Alert!

Mercury Retrograde Alert!

This holiday season is dominated by Mercury Retrograde, so things could get even more confusing. People may get under your skin even more, miss communication with family members the best advice is you go in knowing ...and understanding what is going on and try to deal with things that may be said out of content, try to think before you speak, if you get upset leave the room, people are going to be off the wall LOL

Friday, Dec 10th, 2010 -- The unconventional Aquarius
Moon encourages us to do things differently, without being limited by
social norms. However, it may be more difficult today to think outside
the box because mental Mercury turns retrograde in tradition-bound
Capricorn. Meanwhile, a cooperative sex-tile between Mercury and alluring Venus enables us to be so charming that we can convince others that all is well, even if our plans are beginning to come apart at the seams

Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn and Sagittarius Horoscopes

Mercury Retrograde inCapricorn and Sagittarius Horoscopes
How the trickster planet's backward spin will hit
your zodiac sign from December 10 - December 30
________________________________

by Judi Vitale
Everyone's been asking when the next Mercury Retrograde will come, and here it is ... right at the end of the year!
From December 10 - 30, the little planet that can cause huge headaches
will be doing its backslide while the rest of us are hauling out the
holly and making as much merriment as possible. The bad news is, Mercury will be a factor in most travel plans and efforts to communicate as we
send out good cheer to all, but there will be good news, too.

Just after placing a toe into the work-obsessed turf of Capricorn,
Mercury will move back into the spark-plug country of Sagittarius just
in time to give your holidays a jolt! From December 18 until the end of the year, a raucous,
rambunctious mood will pervade most people's thoughts, thanks to
Mercury's dive back into this bouncy and boisterous sign.

How will Mercury's antics affect you? Read on for your sign to see
what areas of life will take a turn for the wilder and crazier, and get a preview of how it will feel to say "ta-ta" to 2010.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Get all the serious stuff out of the way in early December, Aries. Mercury
will begin its retrograde by playing games with your 10th House of
Success, then push you to have some fun sucking up knowledge and chasing down the charms of faraway places when it hits your 9th House of the
Exotic. Some projects, especially any changes you attempt to push
through with the subtlety of a bulldozer, may be slightly reversed over
the course of the next few weeks. It could be a good time to review your facts and figures so you can make sure you're doing things right when
you push forward again. End the year with a tribute to the unusual,
perhaps by jetting to someplace warm, or mastering the phrase "Welcome,
2011" in several tongue-twisting languages.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
You want to move forward, but you can never resist getting stuck in some
unfinished business. At the beginning of the retrograde, some plans to
travel could become bogged down by financial worries as Mercury hits your 9th House of Faraway Places. Consider less lavish accommodations or ditching an unnecessary rental car if you feel you can't afford all the luxe amenities. But on December 18, Mercury
backs into your 8th House of Intimacy, so if your options are open, try
calling up a romantic partner from the past that didn't seem too
meaningful at the time. It's time to celebrate the joys of connectivity
and spiritual love that will stick with you throughout 2011.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Just because mischievous little Mercury is your ruling planet, don't let
this retrograde get under your skin. Your relationships will be the
focus as Mercury backs through your 8th House of Intimacy and 7th House
of Partnerships, and although it's touchy territory, you can create a
situation that makes it pleasant to live up to your commitments. With
the holiday hubbub as background, you should be able to observe your own needs for a nice balance between the company of family and friends and
personal tranquility. After the eclipse of the Moon on December 21,
you'll be emboldened by the possibility that dreams can come true. Take
the one you want the most and make it happen in 2011.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
This December, wily Mercury will mess with the way you balance your
one-on-one partnerships with your compulsion to take care of others. The first part of the month might be particularly romantic, especially when Mercury meets up with Pluto on December 5 and again on December 13. But after it retreats into Sagittarius on December 18, the family-pleasing, cooking and baking you love to do for the holidays could encroach upon
precious cuddle time. Don't leave your partner out in the cold during
Mercury's stay in your 6th House of Daily Routines. Instead, use its
re-visit to Sagittarius to discover a way to make time in your schedule
for all the things that matter most to your caring heart in 2011.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Mercury's retrograde confusion will definitely toy with your inner compass, but
it'll never leave you short of composure. Expect troubles relating to
your plans and daily routine while Mercury visits your 6th House of
Day-to-Day Activities until December 18. Also, be on the lookout for a
health problem you might have swept under the rug at an earlier time.
After Mercury strikes your 5th House of Romance on December 18, the last half of December will be filled with surprising opportunities to flirt
with a hot lover, who could even be someone you already know! Set your
GPS for the directions to that smokin' New Year's bash, so you can make
your entrance to 2011 on cue.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
For you, Virgo, the Mercury retrograde period will be a time of testing out your ability to have fun while you perform the duties you execute so
flawlessly. But striving for a spotless house, the perfect holiday
feast, and traditional family gatherings don't have to prevent you from
enjoying every minute of the season. Pay attention to the way you feel
at the beginning of the month, before December 18, while Mercury is in
your 5th House of Fun and Frivolity. Those early office parties could
put you in a festive mood you won't want to let go of. Rather than
succumbing to the pressures of expectations, picture yourself as the
life of the party and spread enough cheer around to last the whole gang
through 2011.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
With so many beautiful distractions during the holiday season, you'll really have to maintain focus throughout this Mercury Retrograde. And what you really need to focus on is what's going on in
your own mind. Because you love to please others so much, Mercury's
backward move in Capricorn and your 4th House of Home Life could land
you in a sticky web of family drama early in the month. If you only make one decision all season, let it be that you'll do what's easiest and
best for you when it comes to celebrations. After December 18, mental
stimulation will make Mercury's revisit to Sagittarius a fertile time to determine what you really think. Re-connect with a brother, sister or
neighbor who knew you back when life was simple, and resolve to spend
more time together in 2011.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
"Bah, humbug!" could rightfully be your mantra, as Mercury makes its way from your 3rd House of Close Connections back to your 2nd House of Money.
Mistakes on the balance sheet might not work out in your favor. A deeply reverent person like you knows this holiday time is about far more than the shopping bargains waiting to be found. Beware of any tendency to
splurge at the malls -- the material goods of this world mean little in
comparison to the deep and transformative nature of human passion.
Center yourself on what really makes the season beautiful: the warmth of friendship, the security of family, the joy of everlasting love...

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
Watch your money, Honey! Mercury's retrograde visit to your 2nd House of
Resources might bring on a deceptive element that skews your finances in a less than desirable direction. Earning and spending are both
gratifying; but one has to be at least equal to, and hopefully greater
than, the other. Your generous spirit could get you in big trouble,
especially with Jupiter sending excessive tendencies in your direction.
And you won't be thinking clearly when Mercury goes back into your sign
on December 18, because it will be moving in the wrong direction. Maybe
the best thing you can do is procure a nice-but-practical holiday gift
for yourself! Then you can wear it, carry it or drive it when you hit
the party circuit in 2011.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Your dignity could be vulnerable while Mercury is retrograde, but rest
assured you're the only one who'll notice any little faux pas. While
it's in your sign until December 18, Mercury will tap on your patience
until it's drained. You won't say what you mean, and people may think
you don't mean what you say. Worse yet, when the zany little orb moves
back into Sagittarius after that, you'll dream up a billion ways to beat yourself up. Ask yourself: is that the way you want to spend the
holiday season? Turn it all around by finding a strong spiritual anchor. Indulge in the mysticism surrounding this time, when the darkest of
nights are illuminated by the brightest of lights. Create plans that
make the arrival of 2011 something to celebrate!

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You could get all philosophical when Mercury slows down in your 12th House
of Contemplation, but your serious state of mind won't last all that
long. After December 18, you'll fall for Sagittarius' party-loving mood
the first chance you get to gather with your friends and celebrate new
beginnings! With Mercury then in your 11th House of Group Interactions,
you may occasionally have to play traffic cop ... but cohorts should quickly become confidantes. The spirit of
friendship and joy will fill your soul and your contagious smile will
lift spirits everywhere you go, perfect for capping off the year with a
fiery New Year's Eve fete.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
You might not want to think Mercury's retrograde will have an effect on
you, but by the end of the month, you'll probably witness some magical
things that only seemed to happen all by themselves. In the beginning,
Mercury's visit to your 11th House of Groups could embroil you in team
efforts that seem rudderless and without hope ... until you bring your
undying faith in the human race to the table. You inspire others while
simply being exactly who you are, and this will attract lots of
attention from the higher-ups. When Mercury makes its way into
Sagittarius and your 10th House of Status, your name may be back into
consideration for a position they passed you over for in the past. By
the time you warmly greet 2011, you could be celebrating a new gig that
lets you call a lot of the shots.
