Elder's Meditation of the Day

Elder's Meditation of the Day
"The journey to the Spirit World is a long one, my friend. But when you die, that doesn't mean that this is the end."
-- —Buddy Red Bow, LAKOTA
The Elders tell us of the other dimension, the Spirit World. Our spirit in our bodies does not die, it only looks that way to our eyes and our brains. Some of our ceremonies allow us to see into the Spirit World. Death is only part of a process of life. It shows the transition into the Spirit World. The Elders tell us this is a joyful life journey.
My Creator, help me to understand both the seen world and the unseen world. Let me not be afraid of the world You live in.

Procrastinator's Creed
You may wish to delay reading this until you have more free time.
1. I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already.
2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid more work or find excuses.
3. I will never rush into a job without a lifetime of consideration.
4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly in propoartion to the amount of bodily injury I could expect to recieve from missing them.
5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possiblity for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations.
6. I truly believe that all deadlines are unreasonable regardless of the amount of time given.
7. If at first I don't succeed, there is always next year.
8. I shall always decide not to decide, unless of course I decide to change my mind.
9. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take the first step, and/or write the first word, when I get around to it.
10. I will never put off tomorrow, what I can forget about forever.

Skeleton Woman

Skeleton Woman
The following is one of my favorite folk tales on the theme of the life, death, rebirth cycle and the presence of Lady Death in all relationships. I think it poetically describes the ebb and flow of all affairs of the heart. This is a modified adaptation of a live version performed by the esteemed Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D., Jungian psychologist and storyteller of the old tradition.
There once was a hunter fisherman, who was fishing in a cove far from home, that he didn't realize was haunted. Looking around and seeing no other kayaks out in the water, he thought, 'I have this bay all to myself.' He dropped his bone hook over the side of his kayak and waited. And he was so hungry. And he was so lonely. And he had been hunting and fishing for days on end without finding anything to eat. And so his bone hook went down, down, down, into the deep waters.
Beneath the waters was a skeleton woman, and she lay there on the ocean floor, rolling back and forth with the tide. The bone hook, as it drifted down into the deep waters, caught in her ribcage. Although she tried to move with the currents to disengage herself, the bone hook caught all the more tightly. The fisherman above, felt a tug, and pulled a little more, and saw his fishing stick beginning to bend. 'Oh' he thought, 'I've got something really big on the end of this line that's going to keep me fed for a very long time to come.' As he pulled harder, Skeleton Woman began to drift to the surface of the water. And as he turned back around with his net to catch his 'prize', there she was - hanging off the bow of his kayak, with her long yellow front teeth, and her bald head filled with crustaceans, and sea worms dangling from the nose holes and ear holes of her skull. The fisherman was absolutely terrified! So much so that his ears turned a bright red and met each other at the back of his head. He screamed and paddled fast as he could towards shore. But she was still hooked in her ribcage and so when he paddled and looked back over his shoulder, he saw her standing on tippy-toes racing after him, over the tops of the waters. 'Oh no!' he screamed, 'She is chasing me! She is after me!' And he arrived at the shore, not a moment too soon and scrambled out of his kayak, grabbed his fishing stick and ran for his life. He looked over his shoulder every few moments and sure enough, she was still keeping up with him. The poor fisherman was running in terror as fast as he could and finally he came to his little skin house and dove inside, into the darkness.
And he thought, 'At last I am safe.' He became very still and listened...and the only sound he could hear was his own heart pounding. 'I must have out run her', he thought and after a little while just to be certain, he began to make a little fire, because he was so cold. And then, right across from him, flickering in the light there she was! She was still hooked and all in a tangled mess. Her ankles were over her shoulders and one arm was caught in her ribcage and her pelvis was tilted backwards, and her skull was hanging down below her shoulders. He looked at her and something came over him. He looked a little longer, and tried to still his fear. The more he studied her the more he felt sorry for her. She was in such a predicament. Somehow in this tangled mess she didn't look so frightful as she had before. And he contemplated her...and she did not move. The more he thought about it, she had an almost pitiful, pleading expression.
Like a father would to a child, he reached out and took her ankles down from her shoulders cooing, 'There , there, that's better isn't it? Not so uncomfortable.' He straightened and untangled her, as he sang a little song, as a father would. And soon she was all straightened out. And she had an odd little tilt to her skull that almost made her look grateful. And he mused, 'Well, she's just a skeleton hooked by accident. I'll leave her be this night and then give her a proper burial in the morning. I'll try to sleep now, because I'm so very hungry and sleep is my only escape from this hunger. And he fell fast asleep, exhausted by all the excitement and lack of food.
As often happens when we sleep, a little tear escaped from the corner of his eye and began to trickle down his face. Skeleton woman saw this tear glistening there and became very thirsty. And so very quietly, with the slightest of tinkling and rattling of bones, she got on her hands and knees and placed her mouth there and drank deeply. When she saw that he did not awaken, she slid her hand inside his chest and took out his heart. And she raised it like a great drum and began pounding on it. Boom....boom...boom... and she began to sing flesh onto her bones. She sang with the drum of his heart and long, glossy, black hair grew out of her skull and a full, elegant face and fine hips and all the things that a woman needs began to take shape. And when she was done, she slipped the hunter's heart back inside his chest and looked at him ever so tenderly. She lifted the sleeping skins of his bedding and climbed in underneath and pressed her warm body against his. And they tangled all night long. They wound up more tangled then she had been to begin with. With her legs over his shoulders and all those things that happen when people make love.
And when morning broke, they left together hand in hand. Because she was from the water, they never again went hungry for she had a way of calling the creatures of the sea to her. And people say that if you are ever out when the whole land is white with snow and the sky is also stark white and nothing seems to move; if you look out into the horizon, and can see two tiny black dots bobbing gently, that is skeleton woman and her hunter.

Rite of Paganing/Wiccaning
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Thu Mar 3, 2011 11:19 pm (PST)
Rite of Paganing/Wiccaning
The rite should be performed as the Moon is waxing, and preferably near to
an appropriate seasonal festival.
An altar may be set up if desired. Implements required for the ceremony
are: the coven sword, or a wand if preferred, plus sword, helm and shield for
the magical armoring. Candles may be used in the calling of the quarters.
As the rite is to begin, the priestess and the priest shall face the parents
and the godparents, and of course the child, who may be carried in someone's
arms. The rest of the group shall be gathered about.
When all seems ready, the Maiden shall raise her arms in salute and call:
"We do give greetings to one who is new
to this Mid-earth,
We present this small and sacred one
to the Old Gods,
And welcome the small and holy one among us,
Let us summon now the elements."
The Sentinel of the East shall raise hands in salute to the quarter and call:
"O winds of the East
Who bring forth freshness, life and joy...
Cast your blessings upon this child
And become a friend to her/him!"
The Sentinel of the South shall raise hands in salute to that quarter and
call:
"O warm sun and warm skies of the South,
Bringing life anew, the growth of all things,
and promise of the future,
Cast your blessings upon this child
And become a friend to him/her!"
The Sentinel of the West shall call:
"O cool lakes and deep seas of the West,
Waters soft and giving of fresh life
Cast your blessings upon this child
And become a friend to her/him!"
The Sentinel of the North shall call:
"O mighty mountains and endless steppes
of the North,
Meadows of green and the creatures that
therein dwell,
Cast your blessings upon this child
And become a friend to her/him!"
The Priest shall then invoke:
"O ancient Lord of the Universe
We ask some portion of your presence here
among us now
Shield and strengthen the child who shall
be dedicated in Your honor!"
The Priestess shall then invoke:
"O most gracious and magnificent Lady
We ask that some portion of your presence
be here among us now,
Give protection and shelter to the small
and sacred one
Who is here to be dedicated in Your honor !"
The Maiden shall then sound the bell five times, and then she shall ask:
"Who is it that shall come before the Gods?
Who is it that speaks for this small one?"
The Mother shall say:
"Before our friends,
Before those of the mysteries,
Before those who are seen,
And those who are invisible,
Before the Lords of the Quarters,
And before the Mighty Dead,
Before the Immortal Gods themselves,
Do I bring forth_____________,
We have long sought this small one,
And brought forth our child in love."
The Father shall say:
"Before our friends,
Before those of the mysteries,
Before those who are seen,
And before those who are invisible,
Before the Lords of the Quarters,
And the Mighty Dead,
Do I bring forth____________,
We have long sought this small one,
And brought forth our child in love."
The Mother and Father both hold the infant, and the Priest comes forth and
holds his hands out over the child in an attitude of blessing, saying:
"May the blessings of the wise and joyous
Father of the Gods,
Farseeing and far-knowing,
Be upon thee, small friend!"
The Priestess comes forth and holds her hands over the child in an attitude
of blessing, saying:
"The blessings of the Triple Goddess,
Of Maiden, of Mother, of Crone,
And all of Their power be upon thee,
small friend!"
The bell is sounded three times, and there is a pause.
The Exhortation to the Parents
The godparents hand over the sword to the priest. The Priest then holds out
the sword, and the Priestess places her hand over his to symbolically hold
it also. The Priest says to the parents:
"I bid you both to put your hands
On this blade of the magical Sword of the Art.
And hearken to our words to you both,
For the bringing of a new life into the world
And the linking of one so young
To the most ancient of Ways
Is a most serious matter."
Priestess:
"I bid you both to give your child
The finest and deepest of training,
Yet make not her/his life one of tedious labor,
For one so young must live well
The joy of life."
Priest:
"I bid you both to respect your child
As an individual, for they are unique.
Remember always that a small frame
and child's ways
Often cover an excellent mind,
That in later years many shall honor."
Priest:
"I bid you both to give always
A fair hearing to your child,
Have patience as s/he learns and asks,
And remember that you yourselves
once ran this path.
Priestess:
I bid you both to give ever
New horizons, new challenges,
new worlds,
So that your child may go so far
As their own mind and spirit shall lead.
Do you hearken unto these words?"
Parents:
"We do."
The Parents Vows
Priestess:
If you be ready to assume these duties
As parents of the small one
Consecrated before the Eternal Gods,
Then take these vows,
And say now after me:"
(The parents repeat each line)
"We, _____________________ As parents
And as followers of the Old Ways
Do take this sacred vow
Before the Old Gods
To whom we give honor
and fealty."
The Godparents' Vows
The Priest shall rap thrice loudly with the staff or wand and call:
"You who would to this child be Godparents
Come forth now and stand before the altar."
The Priestess says unto them:
"Are you now ready to assume the duties
As Godparents of the small one
To aid the parents in the upbringing of the child,
To support the young one that he may grow
Within the Old Religion and the
Craft of the Ancients,
And, if the Fates and the Gods
Remove the mother and sire from this world,
To take this child into your own care
And see that they are brought up in the Old Ways,
Are you now ready to assume these responsibilities?"
They answer affirmatively, and the Priestess and Priest take the sword to
hold it before the candidates. Then the Priestess says:
"Place your hands here
And swear before the Old Gods
That you are ready to bear these
responsibilities
If so, say now after me:"
The Godparents place their hands upon the sword and say after the Priestess:
"We assume these cares
In the all-powerful name of the Lady
And of Her Consort,
And of the Ancient Ones."
The Blessing of the Far Traditions
The Priest shall rap thrice with staff or wand, and say:
"I call on our friends of the Far Traditions,
Here with us as our honored guests
In this place sacred to the Gods,
To honor us with their blessings
Of this small and sacred one."
The Priestess and Priests of the various groups come forward as previously
agreed and give their blessings as they deem proper,
Closing
The child is held up over the altar and the final closing is given.
Priest:
"O ancient and hearty one, Friend and Helper,
Crowned with the mighty horns of Power,
The far-traveler who sees all,
Who gives wisdom and joy
And the challenge of that which is new,
Witness, we do ask, that _________________
Has by this rite been dedicated to Thee,
And to the Craft."
Priestess:
"O gracious and most magnificent Lady,
Whose slender hand turns the vast wheel
of the sky,
Whose triple aspect does see
The beginning, the life, and the end of all things,
Whose wells of mystery do give
Inspiration and rebirth throughout eternity,
Witness now, we do ask, that _________________
Has by this rite been dedicated to Thee,
And to Thy Craft,
O Beautiful One,
Blessed Be!
A pause, the candles on the altar are put out, and the Priestess says:
"This rite is ended,
Merry meet and merry part!
May the Gods preserve the Craft!"
Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

The God of the Witches
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Thu Mar 3, 2011 11:19 pm (PST)
The God of the Witches
Baphomet has come to represent a variety of ideas to adherents of
various beliefs, from Christianity to Wicca to Satanism. Though maligned
and misunderstood by some, Baphomet is a very complex figure who deserves
closer inspection.
Much of Baphomet's notoriety stems from the chivalric order of the
Templars. When the Church declared the Templars as heretical, it charged
that members of this organization worshipped Baphomet as the Devil, (along with
practicing homosexuality). The Templars met their demise under some of the
Catholic Church's greatest severity. As was protocol during that age, the
Devil (in the form of Baphomet) had raised His ugly head, and needed to be
vanquished with typical Christian zeal.
The 19th century French occultist Eliphas Levi is credited with the
now famous drawing of Baphomet that is seen in so many Occult books.
Levi identified the bearded deity of the Templars to be the God of the
Witches' Sabbat, seeing Him as a representation of the Greek god Pan. A
more esoteric view describes Baphomet as a pantheistic symbol of the "whole of
Nature."
Many people consider Baphomet to be a depiction of the Christians'
Devil. Most Satanists have readily accepted this--their ritual logo, the
Inverted Pentagram, is called the Baphomet because it forms a goat's head.
However, Satanists do not believe in an actual "Satanic" being. They take a
more atheistic attitude, seeing Satan as Nature itself, epitomized in the
axion "survival of the fittest." In this Macrocosmic aspect, Satan and Baphomet
do parallel one another.
Baphomet is a conglomeration of many different elements. Though the
winged deity is referred to in the masculine gender, Baphomet has both
feminine and masculine attributes, which makes the god hermaphroditic. This
combination of male and female, and other opposites, can be found throughout
the deity's structure.
Levi's depiction of Baphomet shows the deity to be sitting cross-
legged. This is reminiscent of the Lotus position, used by many while
searching for enlightenment through meditation and Yoga practices. It also
shows that the deity has a firm foundation. The god has the head of a goat,
which symbolizes fertility, and two long horns protruding from it. Horns
represent divinity, or something holy. A torch burns above the head, which
represents illumination and knowledge. Upon the forehead of Baphomet is the
five-pointed star, the Pentagram, which represents humanity, the Microcosm. (A
cruder drawing of this god depicts Him with the hexagram, the six-pointed
star--representing the Macrocosm).
Baphomet has the breasts of a woman, showing the hermaphroditic
aspect of the deity. The breasts represent a nurturing element, which can
be overshadowed by the other more sinister-looking aspects of the god's
symbolism. Upon His back are two great wings. Baphomet has the power of flight,
mobility and speed, which can help Him ascend to greater aspirations. The
wings are also bat-like in appearance, which indicate a night dweller,
possessing the keys to the hidden mysteries that are not readily available to everyone.
Protruding from the groin is the Caduceus, showing masculinity (and
reiterating that the god is both male and female). The Caduceus is a
phallic symbol associated with the Greek god Hermes (Roman Mercury), showing
two intertwining snakes wrapped around a pole. One snake is black, the
other white. This symbol represents the Ida and Pingala, psychic energy currents
that encircle the central nervous system in Kundalini Yoga. The serpents
themselves represent spirituality as well as sexuality. Behind the Caduceus is
a layer of serpentine scales.
On either side of Baphomet are crescent moons, again, one black and
the other white. These symbolize the negative and positive polarities that
exist, both in the material and spiritual realms. They also represent the
waxing and waning moons; however, their coloring has been reversed--the waxing
moon is dark and the waning moon is light.
Upon the left inner forearm of the deity is written the Latin word,
coagula, which means "to condense, to make solid." On the opposite arm is
written the Latin word, solve, meaning "to release, to set free."
The deity's arms are outstretched, one pointing down, the other
upwards, signifying the Hermetic statement, "As above, so below." Baphomet
extends the first two fingers of each hand as in a Benediction.
The five Elements are represented: Baphomet's wings represent Air.
The torch is Fire and Spirit. The moons are feminine symbols, which equate
with water. And the god Himself sits upon the Earth.
Baphomet represents the Universe. This deity is balance: Light and
Dark, good and evil, order and chaos. However, one must observe that since
Baphomet symbolizes the Macrocosm (Nature), His actions will reflect Nature,
too. Though we may like to view Nature as our friend, the force that
provides us with sunny days also produces those destructive tornadoes. There are
plenty of negative miracles within Nature to balance out the more appreciated
ones.
Baphomet is God and Goddess, an androgynous being representing
everything that exists. S/he is man and woman, the rocks and trees, life
and death. Anything and everything in the Universe, including that vast Cosmos
itself, is Baphomet: order and chaos; the birth of new stars, and worlds in
collision; creation through destruction, and destruction through
creation. These are all weights of the counterbalance. The Universe, of
course, is never in an actual state of balance, but is always in a flux.
Baphomet may be seen as stationary, but He is constantly moving, constantly
changing. If He actually did become still, existence itself would cease.
The name Baphomet, qabalistically written backwards, gives three
abbreviations which show another aspect of the god's characteristics:
TEM, OHP, AB. These stand for Templi omnium hominum pacts abbas, which
means: "The father of the temple of universal peace among men." In this
description, the Goat God's more shadowy aspects appear more benevolent.
Baphomet (while being all things), is not the only Divine Being that
represents the source of everything. Pagan and non-Pagan gods also
claim this attribute, such as the Judeo-Christian Yahweh. In the Old
Testament, Yahweh makes it clear that He is the source of all and answers to
no one. He produces good and evil.
Upon reflecting on the demise of the Knights Templars, it's ironic
that the Christian church persecuted this order for worshipping a deity that
claims the same attributes as their God. With a little closer inspection,
one sees the two deities are the same. Of course, accepting this would have
been less profitable (the Templars had enviable wealth and power), and therein
lies the root of most violations of civil liberties.
Though we may all strive for a harmonious existence with our
neighbors, we know that can't always be. Personal prejudices, desires and
agendas have a tendency to take precedence--peace and strife. These too are
opposites and attributes of Baphomet, the god/dess who is the Universe.

How to Read a Crystal Ball
Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com nightshayde99
Thu Mar 3, 2011 11:21 pm (PST)
How to Read a Crystal Ball
1... Darken the room around you. Put the crystal ball on a dark surface
that will not reflect any light that will distract you. Have a candle or
other form of light shining into and illuminating the ball. The light source
can be reflecting up inside the crystal ball stand or behind the crystal. It
can also be shining from behind you into the crystal ball.
2... Sit comfortably with your spine straight. Keeping your spine
straight enables you to channel all the energy that comes through your body
when you do your readings. Ground yourself and calm your mind.
3... Clear the crystal before using it, use the Smudge method. Then
charge it using this method: Hold the crystal ball and rub it with both
hands. Then set it back on it's stand while still maintain your focus. Next point
a single-terminated quartz crystal or a crystal wand towards the ball at a distance where you most comfortably feel the two connect. When you feel or sense the subtle
connection between the crystal and the ball, begin to circle the single-terminated crystal in a clockwise direction. Maintain the connection between the crystal and the ball. Soon you will feel the crystal ball pulsate. When you feel it pulsating strongly you can lay your single-terminated crystal or crystal wand down and begin the next step.
4... Diffuse your vision.
5. find a spot in the ball the interests you. Bring all your attention
to that spot. Now look at it in more detail. Allow your intellectual mind
to relax. Leave yourself open to any impressions. Don't have any
preconceptions. Have no judgments. Remain relaxed, open and focused.
6... Now look at that area in still more detail. As you look at this
area even more closely you may find yourself tensing. If so, take a deep
breath and relax as you let it out. Continue to do this until you release the
tension.
7... Continue to gaze into the particular area, seeing more and more
detail. As you look at this minute detail the crystal ball seems to become
larger. The more you lose your sense of yourself and are only conscious of
the detail in the crystal space, the larger the ball seems to become. As you
are looking, feel yourself opening as if you have no edges or boundaries.
Allow yourself to lose your awareness of yourself and just be aware of the
crystal ball.
8... Your eyes may or may not close at this point. If they feel like
closing, let them close and continue to feel as if the crystal is around
you. If your eyes remain open, still feel as if your inside the crystal.
Whether your eyes are open or closed a point is reached where there is
no difference between you and the crystal. There is only crystal and just
what you are seeing. You are now in an altered state of consciousness or
trance state.
9... You may at this point find yourself feeling compelled to do
something. This may be to breathe in certain ways, move energy in a
particular pattern in your body, or to work with the crystal in a different manner.
Trust yourself and let this compulsion guide you. Your body may almost
involuntarily assume different positions. Let it. You may find yourself
making sounds. Feel free to allow this to happen. At the same time there
is no necessity to force it to happen. Successful crystal ball reading
doesn't depend on any of these occurrences.
10... Now either ask specific questions in your mind or use your will to
guide you to a specific locations that you mentally view. If you haven'ta
specific question, mentally refer to your more general purpose in
crystal reading at the time. Then let impressions come and go. Don't hang
onto them but communicate them to another or out loud into a tape recorder. Let
the impressions flow through you. Continue to communicate what you see until
you have a feeling of being finished.
11... When you are through, remain with the crystal for a few minutes.
Release any tension. You will feel a sensation of floating inside the
crystal ball. Varied impressions may come and go. Just watch them pass.
In this space are all possibilities, all assistance, all knowledge, and all
wisdom.
12... Now, after enjoying this space for a while, slowly begin to back
out of the ball. Start to feel edges around yourself while you continue to
gaze. Have a feeling of backing up as you become more aware of the edges
around the ball. If you followed a certain route into the ball, retrace it.
Continue until you see the ball in front of you. Become aware of the
surface on which you sit. Be aware of your breathing. If your eyes are open,
let go of the diffused vision and bring it back to normal. If your eyes are
closed, slowly open them. Now stretch and shake yourself a little until you
feel completely in your everyday consciousness.
13... Ground yourself. Next, clear your crystal ball, the other
single-terminated crystal or crystal wand, yourself, and the room you
are in.
14... If you like, cover your ball with cloth or put it in a pouch.
Store it in a special place.

Scroll on the Self

Scrolls on the Self
Magick is the means by which we attempt to shape our world. Personal
transformation is perhaps the best place to begin, as we must know
ourselves well, and grow constantly in order to be a whole person, and a good
practitioner of magick. Marion Weinstein said that magick differs from
superstition in that magick attempts to understand and order our world
instead of feeling that outside forces rule our destinies. We are
active rather than the passive denizens of the universe. A * indicates an
outside link.
Self Perception Exploration
Goal:
To perform an organized introspection, and design a plan to achieve
increased self love and confidence. To become more aware of your
perception of yourself, and it's role in your life.
Supplies:
You will need a notebook, journal or pieces of paper and colored
markers thin enough to write legibly with. You may wish to light a candle
(pink for self love or white for truth) and/or incense of your choice.
Location/Best Time:
Make sure you have a couple of hours set aside for this exercise. Go
to a place where you feel comfortable (inside or out) and where you will
not be likely to be interrupted or overly distracted. A good time to perform
this would be on a gibbous moon, as part of your winter starting a new year
celebration or your Birthday.
Ritual/Procedure:
On the first page of you notebook, fill up the page as much as you
feel like with the "bad" things or traits you'd like to change about
yourself, or habits and traits you don't like, fears and insecurities you would be
rid of, whatever. For this page use a red marker, or the color that feels
right to you.
On the next page write the "good" things, your qualities, what makes
you unique, your strengths and values, interesting abilities, skills,
talents etc. Try to fill up the page. Feel free to take as long as you like.
Use a green pen, or whatever feels right to you.
Take some time now to ground and center.
Go back and look at the negative list. This time pretend to belongs
to your best friend. Try to look at these qualities form this new,
perspective. Are all of these things so terrible? In light of the good
things, do some of them really matter? Try to pick out the things that are not that
important, are not necessarily negative, or that don't bother you that much.
You can release these things first. Draw a line through these in another
color, and say aloud "I accept myself ______." (I accept myself having big
thighs, I accept myself talking too much).
Now go through it again, with another color of pen and underline those
things you have the power to change. For example if you think you
don't socialize enough, you smoke, you lose your temper too easily, etc.
Circle those things you can change (circling them symbolizes your power to
change these items), On a new sheet of paper list these things, and a target
date. Try not to overload yourself and make all the changes immediately.
Changing patterns is hard but rewarding work.
Back to the things that are not marked out or circled. Are there any
left? If not, great, skip the remainder of this paragraph. What are these
things? Is it possible you really can change them? Sometimes our own limiting
thought patterns convince us that we "have no choice" thus making us
feel like victims. Reexamine these items if you have any. Acknowledge the
choices, even if they are impractical, for example, if you are staying in a
job you don't like because you don't think you could make that much
money at a different job, acknowledge that you are choosing to stay in the
job, and getting paid well to put up with the crap. Positively frame the
things you are choosing not to change. It feels empowering just to know you
do have a choice, even if you are choosing not to take any of them. Now go back
again, are there truly some things you have no choice about? Like your
short, etc. If so, can you learn to accept these things? If a loved one was
telling you about this shortcoming, how would you counsel them? If need be,
underline the items and design a ritual to embrace/accept those things which
are unchangeable.
Now go to your positive sheet. If it is not totally full, write on it
some nice things people have said about you. Read the list aloud, saying
each as an affirmation. For example if you put down that you are a painter
say aloud "I am a talented artist," You may want to write these in the form
of affirmations on a new sheet of paper. Read them all aloud, and try to
consider each. Some of these may be hard to really believe. Add on at
the end. "I deserve to be whole and happy." Put this page, and your list
of self help goals in a place where you can review them periodically
(monthly?) Make sure to read aloud the affirmations regularly until you can
truly believe them all. This is most effective if you can memorize a few of them
and then look at yourself in the mirror while saying them. Have patience with
yourself, we have our while lives to grow into great tree we want to be.

I wonder if these churches around here really know what they are doing when they hold an Easter Egg Hunt, or why.
Although rabbits represent fertility to Pagans, I believe Christians use the symbolism of eggs to represent "new" life. I never understood how it fit into their pantheon.

Amusing! I liked the Maxine one, Cronan liked the 'sold the dog on e-bay'
one (while disdaining any cat stupid enough to swallow a computer mouse),
and Boudicca felt left out because none featured a raven. ;)
