Morning Cassandra,
I'll have to agree with "Silver Fox" this is a hard decision to make and one not to be taken too lightly.
My suggestion would be to "test the waters" with some herbal info on the occasion and see what the response is. This leaves the door open, but doesn't bring everything out of the broom closet <grin>. See how that goes first.
-------------
The are some extreme responses' that could happen
If your underage parents have options like religious schools, boarding schools etc.
As an adult it can be worse. If you have kids, the grandparents can get real weird. Church and religion will become a bigger topic, trying I guess to "prove" something. Also you will need to think about whom they will share with, Preacher? Friends ? neighbors ? and how will they react.
I live deep in the bible belt of the US. Most people in my state prefer to remain in the broom-closet. Those who do choose to "advertise" themselves as non-Christians are treated very differently (disrespectfully) in most places.
I prefer to learn in private, and only share some bits of info on the rare occasion the audience is open-minded enough.

Egg Basket Blessing
Source: Ostara by Edain McCoy
The cycle of life again comes to pass,
I place in an egg all nestled in grass;
In a basket of straw, the Goddess' womb
A place to meet God, who's returned from the tomb
Life again is reborn this day,
In the womb of Eostre, in the basket of May;
Female and male in the Great Rite balance,
New life is born from their spring dalliance.

Easter Eggs: Pagan Or Not?

Easter Eggs: Pagan Or Not?
By Patti Wigington, About.com
A Symbol of New Life:
In many cultures, the egg is viewed as the symbol of new life. It is, after all, the perfect example of fertility and the cycle of rebirth. In early Christian cultures, consumption of the Easter egg may have marked the end of Lent. In Greek Orthodox Christianity, there is a legend that after Christ's death on the cross, Mary Magdalene went to the emperor of Rome, and told him of Jesus' resurrection. The emperor's response was along the lines of "Oh, yeah, right, and those eggs over there are red, too." Suddenly, the bowl of eggs turned red, and Mary Magdalene joyfully began preaching Christianity to the emperor.
Pre-Christian Eggs:
Mary Magdalene and the red eggs aren't the earliest examples of eggs as a spring symbol. In Persia, eggs have been painted for thousands of years as part of the spring celebration of No Ruz, which is the Zoroastrian new year. In Iran, the colored eggs are placed on the dinner table at No Ruz, and a mother eats one cooked egg for each child she has. The festival of No Ruz predates the reign of Cyrus the Great, whose rule (580-529 b.c.e.)markes the beginning of Persian history.
Bunnies, Hares, and Ostara:
There are some claims that the original Easter eggs are Pagan symbols from Europe, but there's little evidence to support this. Instead, it seems to be a more middle eastern tradition. However, in Europe there was a goddess called Eostre, whose name gives us both Ostara and Easter. Historically, Eostre was a goddess with fertility associations, which loosely connects her to both rabbits and eggs. Author Jacob Grimm (of Grimm's fairy tales) suggested that eggs were a symbol of early European Paganism.
In some early cultures, the nocturnal hare was actually considered a symbol of the moon. In addition to feeding at night, the hare's gestation period is approximately 28 days -- the same as a full lunar cycle. In European folklore, the rabbit connection to eggs is one based on confusion. In the wild, hares nest in what is known as a form -- basically, a nest for bunnies. When the hares abandoned a form, it was sometimes taken over by plovers, who would then lay their eggs in it. The locals would then find eggs in the hare's form.
The character of the "Easter bunny" first appeared in 16th-century German writings, which said that if well-behaved children built a nest out of their caps or bonnets, they would be rewarded with colored eggs. This legend became part of American folklore in the 18th century, when German immigrants settled in the eastern U.S.
Today, the Easter business is a huge commercial venture - Americans spend nearly $1.2 billion a year on Easter candy, and another $500 million on Easter decorations each year.

Solitary Ostara Ritual

Preparation:
For decorating the altar use dyed eggs and pink and green ribbons or streamers.
Prepare the altar with the God and Goddess candles and the supplies for casting the circle.
Include a soil-filled cauldron, a sword, a small shovel, a small pot, a few seeds of your favorite flower or herb, a Corn Dolly, and a Grape Dolly. The Corn Dolly should be dressed in white. The Grape Dolly should be dressed in green. The cauldron should be placed in front of the altar.
Begin by casting the circle.
Say:
"Here I am on this day, Ostara, Lady Day, Rite of Eostre, the Vernal Equinox, and the first day of the planting season. I am here to understand life, death, and rebirth, and to give reverence to those who have endured each."
Bow your head to think about how Ostara fits in one of the three groups above and how it fits in the Wheel of the Year.
Say:
"I stand at the gate between the living and the dead on this night when both light and dark are equal. I am here to witness the union of my Goddess, Mother Earth, the waxing Lady of the Moon, and of our God, Green Man, the waxing Lord of the Sun. Conception. . . a necessary transition on the Wheel of the Year."
Lay the Dollies next to each other on the pillow.
Say:
"Now is the time of the Great Rite between the beloved Maiden, one of the three faces of my Goddess, and her consort, the beloved Sun King, one of the three faces of my God. I watch as the Goddess is impregnated by the God with the seeds of conception."
Unite the blade of the sword with the depth of the cauldron symbolizing the Great Rite. Leave the sword standing. Hold the God candle and mingles the flame with the Goddess candle. Replace these on the altar and set them closer than they were before.
Say:
"The Elder Gods wish to bestow upon us the gift of knowledge. Thus they shall speak."
Hold the Grape Dolly and Corn Dolly up high, one in each hand.
Say:
"These wise words are their gifts. "There is a time for ever purpose under the heavens above. Now is the time to sow that which will be reaped come fall and winter. Now is the time of the conception of the Divine Child which is necessary to keep the Wheel of the Year turning. As I plant these seeds of child and harvest, each dependant upon the other, the Wheel of the Year turns, the land also ready to take to it seeds. It is now your time to begin your sowing of seeds, material, spiritual, and symbolic, to ready you for the coming seasons. So mote it be. !"
Place the Dollies closer to each other on the pillow.
Say:
"The Gods have shown me the way. Now, on this day of Ostara, at this time of planting and beginning, I shall sow my own seeds for the coming seasons."
Use the small shovel to transfer soil from the cauldron to the small pot. As you are plating the seeds, you should be thinking about your goals as though they were the seeds.
You can now conclude the ritual.
Say:
"May these newly planted seeds, material, spiritual, and symbolic, bring to me plentiful fruits and bounties."
Close the circle.
Serve yourself hard boiled eggs, honey cakes, and eggnog.
You can leave the cauldron and sword on the altar until Beltane to remind you of the seeds sewn on this day. Also leave plastic colored eggs to remind you of the conception of the Divine Child.

Egg Magick

Egg Magick
Source: Ostara by Edain McCoy
Use a broom to sweep hard-boiled eggs from outside your home to the inside to bring in abundance and fertility.
Use brown eggs in magick to assist in animal husbandry or to ease a pet through giving birth.
Brown eggshells can be added to protective or healing magick for pets or livestock.
Bury rotten eggs near a crossroad to cause abundance to be taken away from an enemy.
Paint half of a hard-boiled egg in a traditional god color such as red or gold, and the other half in a goddess color such as silver or blue, to represent the whole of creation. Let your own feelings about colors guide your final choice.
To ensure that there will be no shortage of food at your home during winter, and to help keep those living there safe, bury one egg at each of the four cardinal points of your property: east, south, west and north.
Add well-washed eggshells to talismans for protection.
To assist a couple who is having trouble conceiving, decorate a plastic or wooden egg to give as a fertility talisman.
Decorate eggshells hanging from bushes and tress shed blessing of abundance on the land they surround.
Bury eggs in your garden before doing your spring planting.

Enchanted Chocolate Strawberries
By Mickie Mueller; Spell-a-Day, 2008 Almanacs
Strawberries are in season now. To make your love blossom, we will draw upon the energies of Friday for love, spring for growth, and chocolate, for, well, chocolate!
You will need:
2 pints of clean dry strawberries
1 bag of chocolate chips
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
wax paper on a cookie sheet
Melt the chocolate chips and shortening in the microwave. When completely melted, dip each strawberry in the chocolate and while coating, say:
Close are we, my love and I,
As chocolate and strawberries side by side,
Enchant for me this magical feast,
Passionate love shall be unleashed!
As each strawberry is coated, lay them out on the wax paper. When you're done, put them in the fridge for one hour. Make sure you tell your love that you have an enchanted and passionate dessert to share after dinner. Let the magic of your love be awakened!
