The Storm Moon

Coming right before Ostara, this month's full moon is known as the Storm Moon, and considering the way the weather's been lately, it's aptly named! March is a month full of wind and rain and gray skies -- all the things we need to ready the earth for yet another season of growing. Also called the Seed Moon or Crow Moon, this moon is one which is tied deeply to new life, fertility and rebirth. If you're hoping to conceive a child, this is a great month to *really* try. The earth itself becomes more fertile now, as well -- magical workings this months should focus on growth and rebirth of both the material and spiritual kind.

This year, if the skies are clear enough, you'll get a special treat, because the moon this month is significantly closer than it normally is. It's called a supermoon, and it will be the biggest and brightest full moon we've seen in about two decades!

Color correspondences this month include the yellows, greens and purples of spring flowers. Look for trees like the dogwood and honeysuckle for their magical properties, or herbs such as pennyroyal and apple blossoms. Deities connected to this month's lunar cycle include Isis, Artemis, Freya, and Cybele.

Of course we should always give our hearts and blessing to the human victims of any disaster.
And do whatever else that we can to help.
 
But often the animal victims are overlooked in a disaster situation.
 
I know that many on 13 Witches are animal lovers, like I am.
I came across this in one of my animal newsletters today and thought it worth sharing.

Saying Thank You
Trusting Spiritual Assistance

When we connect to higher energies for help, it is much like a phone connection which needs to be closed at the end.

We may have become accustomed to asking for help from the unseen world—whether from angels, guides, or ancestral spirits—but sometimes we may forget to close our connection afterwards with a thank you. When we connect to these energies for assistance, it is much like a phone connection. Forgetting to close the conversation with a proper "goodbye" is like not hanging up. While that line is still connected, others can have trouble getting through, while in the meantime, batteries are being drained. Saying "thank you" is a way of releasing our concerns into trusted hands and getting out of the way so that the universe's divine order can work on our behalf.

As spiritual beings, we may talk about "staying connected," but our connection needs to be with our source. We can plug in and recharge, but we run on batteries in between, and every connection we make utilizes some of our personal power. Even being surrounded by people that energize us has its limits, and at some point we will feel ready to go off on our own to do what is ours to do. Instead of trying to be constantly connected, we can turn to these beings for help in a way that is more like placing an order. We contact them, ask for what we need, and then say thank you and goodbye.

Beings of light don't require our gratitude; it is an energetic acknowledgement of trust and release that benefits us. When we bring ourselves to a sense of being grateful, we affirm that what we have asked is already done. Then we can move forward with confidence to do the things we are meant to do, while knowing that all will be well.

Actually after I sent that reply I was thinking that Lady N. should have her own tv and/or radio air time once a week to express some of the thoughts and wishes of 13 Witches members.
