I am so sorry, I must make a correction, to my comment about Rosemary essential oils and people with High Blood pressure. I stated that people with HBP should not use Rosemary essential oils however, I meant that Rosemary essential oils should not be used on people with HBP.

Again sorry for this mistake

It wasn't really a mistake. I think most people would have understood that
you meant the oil should not be used on people with HBP, whether it's
themselves applying it or someone else putting it on them. That oil is very
popular over here for hair and scalp care and as a lice repellant, and no
warnings are ever posted about the hazards of certain oils if you have
'this' or 'that' condition.

Miki

Bergamot always enhances the fragrance
of other essential oils.

It is often used in perfumery.

Daily Feng Shui Tip

Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Thursday, March 10

Have you ever wondered how little bucks birth bigger ones? Today I'm going to tell you exactly how to use smaller dollars to create a huge influx of the same. Feng Shui calls this secret abundance activator the 'money collage,' but before building one, you should think about what money really means to you. Money has a powerful energy all it's own, so affixing paper currency in your Wealth area can generate additional income and windfalls with or without the wishful thinking attached. In fact, positioning money in your Wealth area creates more of the same since you're now representing a healthy flow of money both coming in and staying. To create the 'Money Collage' you'll need a gold frame with a red background or matting and nine U.S. paper money notes of any denomination and any amount of coins that is divisible by three. Affix the cash and the coins to the red background and then frame the entire affair with the golden frame. This piece can either have an image inside the frame, such as that of a tree with the money growing on it, or it can be an abstract piece of art. Either way, once completed place this piece somewhere inside the Wealth area of your home or bedroom. The promise goes that within three months your entire financial picture will brighten, and your money issues will be transformed. Money comes in and then stays around to help lighten the load! Enact this money cure and you should see much more of it come into your life. Live long and prosper!

Love Each Day,
Lady Nightshayde

Must Pagans Do Everything Pagan?

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Thu Mar 10, 2011 9:01 pm (PST)

Must Pagans Do Everything Pagan?

Thirty-odd hears ago, when I was a newbie Pagan, I constructed altars or shrines to goddesses and gods in all four directions in every room of the house, plus I put up another altar in the center. I hung art and crafts made by Pagans on my walls and set goddesses, gods, witches, and totems on every flat surface in the house. I lit a candle for healing every time I heard of someone in need, and made a serious study of astrology, the tarot, palmistry, and other methods of divination and reading at local psychic fairs. Doing everything Pagan can also mean collecting drums and rattles and rainsticks, carrying charged crystals in our pockets, and wearing Pagan jewelry. (We all know about Pagan jewelry races, of course--you put on all your jewelry, and the first person who can stagger to the finish line under the weight of the pentacles, amulets, charms, beads, Milagros, and little totem animals is the winner.)

Where does this kind of "doing everything Pagan" lead? To a cluttered house! I have a collection of witch figures that fills my bookcases and every other horizontal surface..This includes a couple dozen soft dolls on shelves above my bed, so when the Big One hits Southern California in the middle of the night, only the soft dolls will fall on me. I'm pretty sure I have over two hundred little withes. But every time I try to count them I get a different number. They move!

What this kind of doing everything Pagan leads to is clutter and dust, to tripping over gods and goddesses and books about goddesses and gods, and ending up with so much stuff we begin to wonder if the house is going to (a) tip over, (b) sink, or (c) explode. Although we Pagans seem to like clutter, we need to ask ourselves if this is a sustainable--or affordable--decorating style.

Say you're not a newbie anymore, and you don't buy out the whole Sacred Source catalog every time it arrives. Say you don't haunt gift shops in September (as I do), looking for new little witches. Say you would like to have space in your living room for more than one visitor at a time. As a new season begins, perhaps it's time to do some housecleaning. Is it time to live more simply? Time to recycle and regift, to donate and discard? Can we be Pagans and not cling to all the Pagan tchotchkes? Can we spread our Pagan influence around the community?

Consider Mother Earth. Yes, her lands and oceans are filled with abundance beyond abundance--minerals, flowers, trees, cacti, animals, birds, fish, and even abundant weather. But with the planet about to tip over (metaphorically speaking) because of overpopulation and overcrowding, let's not make it worse. Let's not do everything Pagan. Let's aim for a simpler life without so much stuff in it.

"Do everything Pagan" can also be interpreted in a social sense. We can celebrate every festival on the Wheel of the Year and hold our sabbat rituals outdoors in the back yard (hoping the neighbors won't see us), in a city park (let's invite the neighbors!), or on the beach. This is, after all, how we worship the ground we walk on.

If we are well connected, we can have something Pagan to do practically every day. There are Full Moons, prosperity, and healing rituals to go to, and Pagan academic conferences, PantheaCon, workshops, book clubs, Pagan Pride parades, Pagan crafts fairs, Pagan drumming circles, and other wonderful gatherings of Pagans and heathens of all traditions to attend. There are online classes to take and blogs to read. We can spend our hours and days reading every single page of Witchvox. We can meet interesting people with interesting, sometimes, provoking, ideas. We can do whatever we want to as long as we don't harm anyone.

It can be a wonderful life. When I was somewhat more socially inclined than I am now, I was out all the time, and I had some spectacular experiences. I've created large public rituals, attended CUUPS (Coven of United Universalist Pagans) rituals and classes, and been to Gnostic masses. I once met a man who said he speaks Paleolithic and talks to birds. I helped an artist-member of the Ordo Templi Orientis who was hanging a Tree of Life for an exhibition that she had designed for her master's project. I once went to a ritual near Pasadena; the Crips and the Bloods decided to stage a rumble at the same time. Fortunately, they were several blocks away, but as we were invoking the gods, the police helicopters started flying overhead. "Throw down your weapons." Everyone in our magic circle had the same thought at the same time-Aummmmmmmmmmmm. The gangstas had changed their minds, the helicopters flew away, and we went on with the ritual. I think every Pagan deserves to have memories like this to share.

But what does this level of participation in the Pagan life lead to? When do we have time to earn a living if we're at this ritual or that gathering every time the Moon moves an inch? We live in a world that demands that we pay our rent and our bills--or else. Do we want to face the "or else"?

Maybe we don't need to go out so much. Maybe we can also live a mundane life, as many of us surely do, and work at a productive job, as many of us surely do. Maybe we can pay as much attention to our Muggle friends as we do to our Pagan friends. We can also have fun with people who don't do everything Pagan.

"Do everything Pagan" can turn into an intellectual endeavor. We can haunt metaphysical bookstores and buy all the new books. Maybe actually read them. We can meditate for hours every day and the rest of the time repeat Deena Metzger's wonderful goddess chant under our breath--Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Inanna. We can join intellectual chatrooms and blog our philosophical ruminations, debate whether or not the Great Parthenogenic Mother Goddess always existed or was somehow born (out of what?) We can compare the complex pantheons of Egypt and India, contrast Greco-Roman and northern European practices, and revisict Centic and Viking theology. We can become reconstructionists and endeavor to do rituals the way they were done in the olden days. We can post rants about what Christian missionairies stole from the cultures they found. We can even start reading books of revisionist history and learn about ancient volcanoes and what the Nummo did when they arrived in northern Africa from Sirius B (or C).

This, too, is a wonderful life. We can become really, really smart, maybe even earn a reputation for wisdom. That's because (a) if you read enough, sooner or later you'll know all the answers, and (b) if you study metaphysics long enough, you'll learn that everything can have a metaphysical interpretation. Just ask our New Age friends. It's like being in graduate school all the time, but without the term papers and the comprehensive examinations.

But doing everything Pagan intellectually can have its pitfalls. If all you know is Pagan cosmology, or how to define "real magic," or how numerology even works with cell phone numbers, then what do you talk about if you ever meet someone who's not Pagan? What do you talk about with people standing in line at the cinema? At the DMV? During breaks at work? If everything Pagan is all you talk about, have you noticed that people tend to hide under the furniture when you open your mouth? Maybe it's time to back off and subscribe to Newsweek or Time, or to Netflix.

The highly intellectualized life tends to be an arid life. It's all air, no water, maybe some fire, but no earth. If we do everything Pagan intellectually, then we become...well, boring.

Finally, "doing everything Pagan" can turn into an obsessive spiritual quest. After we've read all the books, we find that reading isn't enough. Now we want a personal teacher, a coven, a tradition. Knowing the old cliche that when the student is ready the teacher will appear, we send out signals. We sign up for e-newsletters and get into listservs that sound interesting. We Google a dozen topics and click on Contact Us at the bottom of every Web site. We collar authors at book signings and quiz them on what and who they know. We go to Pagan meet-ups. And pretty soon the magical contact happens--we meet a high priestess whose words pierce our hearts, or a high priest who models the life we want to lead. We find a tradition in which we're comfortable, a set of teachings we resonate with. We take the oaths, begin our year and a day, and start piling up initiations. We do everything Pagan just as the high priest or priestess, or tradition requires.

I can't help but wonder, if we're tied so tightly into only one tradition, are we on the road to conformity? Being a Pagan in the twenty-first century America is almost, by definition, being a nonconformist. Most of us were born into standard-brand religions and we went to public schools. But as kids, we always seemed to be not quite like the other kids--we were more imaginative, we had flashes of intuition or invisible friends, we wrote music or stories or made art. We just never quite fit in. And now, having found our tradition, yes, we fit in. We've thrown off the shackles of the churches of our childhood. We ignore (or laugh at) the opinions of our parents. We've adopted what used to be called alternative lifestyles. So why do we look and talk like everyone else who's doing everything Pagan?

Some of the more extreme (and secret) traditions tell us what to eat, how to dress, who we can and cannot talk to. And how is Pagan orthodoxy different from any other kind of orthodoxy? Is Pagan fundamentalism different (except in the details) from fundamentalism in any other religion? If we're still in the mundane world enough to pay attention to the news, then we know what fundamentalism has brought to the troubled nations of the Middle East; or what it is bringing to the Texas school board, to the creationist museums in both Kansas and Kentucky that feature dioramas showing men and dinosaurs living in the same neighborhood, or to preachers and politicians who say, "My way or the Highway." What is fundamentalism bringing to the Pagan community?

How does a rebel turn into a fundamentalist? I believe it is partly by doing everything Pagan. I believe it's by jumping into the deep water and not coming up to breathe often enough. I believe it's the result of not being grounded in what most of us call the real world.

Should we do everything Pagan? I believe we should not. I believe we should do many things Pagan, but we should also aim for balance in our lives. Pagans don't live alone on the earth. We can become a critical mass that might help the planet and humanity (and other species) survive, but we can't do that if we're just doing everything Pagan all the time. Let's live balanced Pagan lives.

The Dangers of Daylight-Saving Time

I know the headline of this blog--DANGERS--may sound a bit extreme. Daylight Saving time, when clocks are set ahead one hour at 2 a.m. local standard time (this year it's Sunday, March 14) may be inconvenient, and nobody I've talked to yet is looking forward to losing that precious hour of sleep--at least not without a corresponding hour of partying, goofing off, or at least television-watching to take in trade. A hassle, yes, but 'dangerous'?
Actually, sleep experts and the research they cite does indeed point to certain dangers. On average, it's estimated that people go to work or school on the first Monday of Daylight Saving after sleeping 40 fewer minutes than normal. And recent studies have found there's a higher risk of heart attacks, traffic accidents and workplace injuries on the first Monday of Daylight Saving. It's hard to find any aspect of health untouched by sleep, says Ronald D. Chervin, M.D., a professor of neurology at the University of Michigan and director of U-M's Sleep Disorders Center, in a recent press release. The brain of a person who does not get enough sleep--in quality and in quantity--is unable to operate efficiently. Health, emotions, memory and more are affected. It's enough to make you want to go to bed early, isn't it?

"Being prepared is important, especially if you need to be alert that day for any reason, particularly driving a car. Even one hour of sleep loss can affect some people," says Chervin.

"Many people already are chronically sleep-deprived, and Daylight Saving Time can make them even more tired for a few days," said Dr. Nidhi Undevia, medical director of the Sleep Program at Loyola University Health System. If this sounds like you, now's the time to do something.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to safeguard your sleep, and some of them are pretty simple. Here are some tips from Chervin, Undevia and me:

In the next few days, start going to sleep 10 to 15 minutes earlier, and getting up 10 to 15 minutes earlier as well.

Don't nap on Saturday before the time change. (I normally recommend power naps as a way to catch up on missed sleep, but on Saturday, it may make it too difficult to go to sleep earlier.)

Try to get some morning sun on your face, as early as possible. This can help reset your body's natural 'clock'. Taking a morning walk is a great way to start your day because it can get you moving and out in the sun. If the weather doesn't permit this, or if you just don't have the time for even a 15-minute walk, I suggest you sit on your porch or in front of your sunniest window with a cup of tea (peppermint can get you going in the morning naturally!) and mentally prepare for your day.

If you're getting fewer than 8 hours of sleep at night, there's a good chance that stress is involved. For some people, stress keeps them from sleeping as well or as long as they'd like. For others, the busy schedules that don't allow enough time for sleep are the same busy schedules that bring excess stress. The following sleep resources can help you to get a better night's sleep now and during the rest of the year.

The Upside of Daylight Saving Time
By Elizabeth Scott, M.S.,

About.com Guide March 15, 2010

My last post on Daylight Saving Time received several comments from people who hate the whole idea. While many of us aren't thrilled with the current reality of losing an hour from our weekend, those of us who participate in Daylight Saving Time have no choice--we're either in, or we're an hour late to work, school, or whatever we have going on in our lives.
However, as with any situation we can't really control, we still have choices. One choice here is to let our inner optimists come out, and look on the bright side of the situation. Using reframing techniques to see the positives in this situation can help us feel happier and less frustrated about it, even if we're working in a state of sleep deprivation.
I was able to count a few positives to Daylight Saving Time:
The intended benefit of DST is to shift the amount of daylight we have in a way that makes it fit more conveniently with our lifestyles. This can work in our favor right now, in that we now have an extra hour of daylight in the afternoon, and our daylight hours will stretch about a minute further each day until Summer. This leaves many of us with more daylight hours on the weekends (when we'll perhaps be sleeping in and missing the extra morning darkness anyway), and provides some of us with extra time after work or school to enjoy being outside. Some of us are already experiencing beautiful Spring-like weather, and many more of us will soon--perfect for a walk before dinner for those who can schedule it in, or a little extra time outside with kids.

This gives us an opportunity to take stock in our lives. Realizing how important just one hour is, we might review our schedules and see if there are any activities we're doing that are just taking up time and energy, and not serving us well, and we might be inspired to eliminate these drains. Seeing how much we miss an extra hour of sleep, we might be inspired to do what it takes to get better sleep starting now. The hassle of DST might just prove to be an inspiration.

We'll all find ourselves with an extra hour of weekend in the Fall! As much as many people hate the idea of losing that precious hour of weekend time now, most of us will thoroughly appreciate the extra hour when it's returned to us in the Fall. At least it always comes back!

Care to add to the list? What are some positives you see today? Please add them to the comments section, and feel free to share this blog with those who need an extra boost today, via the 'share' button. Thanks!

Elder's Meditation of the Day

"Balance is implicit in the Red Road. When you're on the Red Road, you are in the center. Yet, you do not go to either extreme, and you allow both sides to exist. This is accomplished by continually postponing surrendering to temptation, whatever it may be. It is saying `later' instead of `no.'"

-- Dr. A.C. Ross (Ehanamani), LAKOTA

The Sacred Path of life has a middle, a left side, and a right side. As human beings, we are designed to walk this middle path as much as we can. As we walk, we will stray to the left and to the right and come back to the middle. Straying to the left or right side is as sacred as being in the middle. Sometimes we call this straying our mistakes. We are designed by the Creator to walk the Sacred Path of life, and realize that our mistakes are the source of lessons. These lessons give us our wisdom. It is not wrong that we are tempted. What matters is what we do with the temptation.

Great Spirit, today, let me enjoy the Sacred Path of Life.

Nature Died Eggs for Ostara

Posted by: "Lady Nightshayde" LadyNightshayde9@aol.com   nightshayde99

Nature Dyed Eggs for Ostara

The Spring Equinox, occurring between March 19 and 21, marks the
first day of true spring--the time when day and night are equal. This also
heralds Ostara; the fertility festival celebrated the world over by
Wiccans. It is a sacred day full of celebrations, lighting of fires at sunrise,
ringing bells, and decorating hard-boiled eggs.

Eggs have been viewed as the symbols of fertility for many, many
centuries, and as such, would never be left out of the festivities of the
fertility festival. The rituals of dyeing, gathering, and eating the eggs
symbolize fertility, prosperity, and protection--powerful amulets on such a
special day.

Why eggs? The golden center of the egg came to be viewed as
representative of the Sun God, the white shell symbolized the White Goddess, and the
whole soon came to be seen as the reawakening of the Mother Earth from the
deep winter's sleep.

Usually, the eggs are dyed in bright colors and decorated with wax
and other items to make special amulets to hide and find. Dyeing the eggs and
decorating them naturally makes for a much more powerful energy.
Originally, collecting bird's eggs of many different colors from the wild was the
goal. Early ancestors observed how the birds wove their nests, and this is
how baskets and eggs came to be connected. Today, it is hard to find
wild areas and many species of birds are protected, so natural dyeing would
bring us as close to nature as we can come.

I raise my own chickens, and so I get a first-hand look at the
changes spring brings. At this time of year, I'm inundated with eggs. Because I
choose to go as natural as possible, I've collected many ideas for natural
dyeing so that I can share them with you.

Over the years, I've dyed many types of eggs because of all the
varieties of chickens I've had. I've found that brown eggs dye just as
beautifully as white ones (they take on deeper hues) and the smaller eggs from the
miniature breeds (bantams, silkies) are very unusual and remind one of wild
bird eggs.

This year I've been blessed with five new baby chick silkies in an
array of colors--white, black, and a few white/black combos mixed with a
little brown, so I'm sure to have an abundance of varied eggs to color.
Here are some tips.

Raspberries and cranberries will make the reds, blueberies and
blackberries will make the blues and purples, and turmeric and spinach will make
the yellows and greens. All you have to do it take each ingredient and
boil it in a stainless steel or enamel pan a few minutes, then simmer for
thirty minutes and strain. Splash in some apple cider vinegar (a tablespoon
to a quart of liquid to make the dye adhere better) and carefully add
boiled eggs to the hot dye. The colors will have a pastel hue, but become darker
the longer you leave them in.

What to do after collecting all those eggs? This year, I plan on
giving prizes for certain marked eggs. After the hunt, we'll use some of
the eggs in a special recipe to make the best egg salad sandwiches ever! They
are great with tomato soup, too.

Herbed Egg Salad

8 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
4 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons dried dill weed
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1/2 cup minced onion
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons spicy mustard

Stir ingredients together, salt and pepper to taste. Makes enough
for eight sandwiches.

7 Ways to Remove Negative Energy in the Home

7 Ways to Remove Negative Energy in the Home

We all can appreciate the beautiful healing energy of spending time in nature, away from civilization. But eventually we have to come home. When we compare the sense of peace and connectedness we feel in nature and to the stress and noise and bustle of city, we know internally that there is a difference. Part of the difference is the energy programmed into the physical objects of these places. Nature in general has more positive energy than our homes or cities.

Reasons Nature's Energy is Positive
• There are less people around in nature, so it is more isolated from people's thoughts. Thoughts are energy. Thought energy attaches to the physical objects near the origin of those thoughts. Negative thought energy creates stronger energy patterns and remains longer than positive thought energy. Worry, fear, and stress last longer than love, peace and happiness.

• Sunlight is a stream of positive energy that washes away any negative energy. It's like pouring cold pure mountain stream water onto a sponge. The sponge is rinsed of anything it has collected. When was the last time you were depressed after a day at the beach.

• Nature is usually filled with plants. Plants give off positive energy. They are alive so they put out a positive vibration, but they don't really think so they don't put out any negative thoughts the way people do. Plants don't' worry about jobs, or bills or relationships.

Before we can start filling our homes with positive energy, we need to remove any accumulation of negative energy.
So here is a list of seven simple proven techniques that you can use to remove negative energy from any space:

7 Ways to Remove Negative Energy

1. Salt carpets. This is the simple easiest best way. Simply sprinkle dry table salt on the carpet, wait an hour and then vacuum the up the salt. Use approximately 3 to 6 spoonfuls of salt for a medium size room. Salt crystals have an amazing natural built in-ability to erase the programming of energy. Using salt is like using an eraser on a chalk board. The information on the board is wiped away.

2.. Remove clutter. Things like old magazines and dirty clothes can trap a lot of negative energy in your house. Remove old items you no longer need. Keep coffee tables picked up and clean. Put your laundry in a laundry hamper. Wash your dirty dishes and put them away. Negative energy needs objects to hang on to so it can remain around.
3.. Loud noises. This is the reason the Chinese love fireworks. Loud noises break up energy patterns and allow them to disperse. Mother Nature does the same thing with the noise of thunder storms.

4.. Play spiritual music. My favorite is the album Eric Pepin album "Deep Resonating Aums" from the Higher Balance Institute. A close second is the song "God is Real" from Krishna Das on his "Door of Faith" album. Buddhist monks use tingshaws to dissipate unfavorable energy. You can use your stereo with the same effect. Combine this technique with no. 4 and a great pair of speakers for a really deep cleaning.

5..Meditate there. A proper meditation once or twice a day in your living space will broadcast out a powerful positive vibration. A broadcast from a meditative state of mind becomes much more powerful than it would otherwise be, making positive energy more powerful than negative energy. A proper meditation will saturate a space with uplifting energy for several hours.

6.. Rearrange the furniture. The Chinese practice the art of Feng shui. Again negative energy needs something to "cling to." Arrange your space with as much wide open space as possible, allowing any negative energy to disperse. But also the act of rearranging will cause this harmful energy to dissipate.

7.. Add living plants. Plants add color, life, oxygen and positive energy to your home. All good things to have. But only if you water and maintain them.

Cycles of Seven

Cycles of Seven
by Julian

You enter the world as an energy, totally aware, totally open and
totally knowledgeable. Everything you need to achieve the goals in
your life is given to you. The seven-year cycles are a flow, a
rhythm. It is not something cut and dried. You may feel it coming or
going two years in advance or two years later as it builds, peaks,
and wanes. The seven-year cycles are an evolutionary spiral. They
belong to every being that has ever been created. There is no one who
does not go through them. There is a natural release of energy every
seven years which encourages you to move forward and make changes.

Every seven years there is, within the system, a total change. It is
a soul's demand to be seen as an individual, not as a collective. At
the age of seven, the first realization of self begins to occur. The
restlessness that is felt within is due to body chemistry changes
from that of an infant to that of a child.

During the course of your life you are gradually influenced by
others. Perhaps, in your early years, you can say that the sins of
the father are delivered upon the child. What does that mean? It
means that the prejudices and the opinions of the parent are visited
upon the child, and if a child hears something long enough, it is
going to accept it as fact. What other images do children have to
turn to early in their lives but to those that are governing or
raising them? Every one of you has been in that position. You have
all been that wee babe.

Going Through The Seven

For the first seven years, you are pliable and pretty much accept
that what is said is so. At the age of seven, there comes a growing
awareness that you must assert your inner self. What happens? At
about the age of five, there begins an aggressiveness, an
aggressiveness that says, "No!"

By the age of seven, you have begun to put a rationale with the
aggressiveness "No, because..." It is really something very magical
that is talking. It is the inner self saying that you are a being who
must hold on to your identity. Although you are pliable, you must not
permit yourself to be shaped and molded to that which you, in
reality, are not.

At the age of fourteen comes the second series of defiances. Once
again a total change of the system occurs. It is a creation of a
private space and the physical preparation for adulthood. It is here
that voice change occurs within the male, and the female body
development begins.

You will hear everybody in your world talking about teenagers. They
talk about them as if they were lepers. They are not! They are trying
to find their identities, but now a new ingredient has been added.
They are not only being shaped and molded by that in which they live,
the family unit, but also by that which they occupy and encounter
outside of that family unit -- schools, playgrounds, grocery stores,
and every other place a teenager goes.

The Power of Each Cycle
At each seven-year round, there is an aggressiveness equal to the
level of physical energy released. That aggressiveness, if treated
with respect and guided, can become a very powerful tool in the life
of the individual. If, on the other hand, it is treated as a case of
leprosy, if the individuals are shoved aside and not listened to,
then there is going to be a buildup of that energy added to the next
seven year cycle.

After fourteen, the next time that most people become aggressive is
at twenty-one. It is now time for them to definitely cut ties and
move to be on their own. At twenty-one the cycle changes. The
attitude is, "Don't tell me, I know it." This is preparation
emotionally and mentally for adulthood. The greatest realization of
adulthood occurs at twenty-eight!

Flowing With The Cycles
The cycles of seven, fourteen, and twenty-one all deal with internal
changes, and the cycle of twenty-eight is the first step in external
integration with the rest of the world. Very often the thought
is, "Okay, world, what have you got to give me?" At that time, you
are experiencing your first Saturn return and here the person begins
to reach outward from the self. You enter your Saturn return every 28-
1/2 years. It is a cycle. We are not talking about astrology when we
talk about this. Saturn deals with teaching and relationships to
time, even though it is timeless. It does not come to "get you." It
comes to present you with an opportunity.

At thirty, you are still moving out of the Saturn return so there
should be an impetus to great change in the self. You should have a
desire to do new things and to head in new directions. The thirty-
fifth year is the cutting of the emotional umbilical cord and true
emotional adulthood arrives. Here one stands alone, able to withstand
being influenced by the emotional attitudes of others. It is the
opportunity to become free of the emotional stigma of the past and is
a major change position in the seven-year cycles.

At thirty-five comes a solidity factor that gives you the opportunity
to say, "Wait a minute. If I am going to do that, whom do I have to
listen to?"

If you are cutting and severing the influences of the past, you are
probably, for the first time, deciding for yourself what you want to
do. It is a freedom factor. Understand that when we talk about the
cycles of growth, we are not saying that at the age of thirty-five
you cut off everybody you know and hate your parents. We are saying
you finally separate those concepts which are really yours from those
which belong to somebody else.

Every age, every seven-year aggression, and every seven-year
unfoldment has special things to be known, understood, and worked
with. There is no time in your life that does not have validity. In
each seven-year cycle there is a complete body chemistry change and a
need for unfoldment, a release from preconceived attitudes. This
gives a freedom which permits major change in attitudes, in
relationships, and in career.

The forty-second year brings a major change because it is the
polarity of the twenty-eighth year. Here, the integration of the
whole self occurs. The view is not, "World, what can you give me?" as
in the twenty-eighth year, but, "World what have I got to give you?"
It is the realization of all the growth that has occurred and the
ability to use it in its most productive way.

At forty-two, you may begin to have doubts about your life. These
doubts are not negative. They are based on the growth gained in the
interim years between thirty-five and forty-two. This creates an
ability to question whether you wish to maintain your life as it is
or whether new changes are imminent. Doubt can be positive if it is
leading you to be suspect of something in your life that is not good
for you.

Life Continues
After forty-two comes forty-nine. Forty-nine continues to be a
doubting period, and sometimes it can become more negative. At forty-
nine, there are rumblings of, "Where am I headed, what do I do, and
do I want this." There is this funny feeling that maybe it is too
late. It is never too late. There can be the sense of "Where have I
been and what have I done with my life?"

If this feeling is permitted to join the ego, there is usually a
tremendous thrust outward to prove that you are still in the first
five seven-year cycles.

At forty-nine, one begins to question what they have in their life
and very often discovers that they can let go of something in their
life in order to have room to take on something new. There is a
tendency to view this cycle as the last chance to be productive, to
show their ability, and to make a name for themselves. Part of the
reason for this is that the next seven-year cycle also ties in again
to a Saturn return. The forty-ninth year gives you the opportunity to
approach letting go in small ways, so that you are more prepared for
that wonderful time that the seven-year cycle of fifty-six will bring
you.

At fifty-six, there is very often a tendency to let go of everything
that has been, and to take on a whole new life style. At forty-nine
you are still trying to say, "I've got to make it before I have to
let go."

Flowing With Cycles
Realize that the first seven cycles from seven to forty-nine are the
spiraling of all change within you. Those that come after that time
are the expansion of the same seven spirals once again. The seven -
year cycles are normal, productive parts of man's evolutionary
process.

Each energy cycle is one of movement in relationship to one's cycles
of growth. You have been given everything you need to make all the
changes you want to make in yourself and your life -- provided you
listen to the reality of the inner self and are not guided solely by
the external self. The external guidance will have to do with the
ego. Ego permits you to move forward. Without it, you might become
too passive, but your inner reality guides you from your highest
space.

Cycle reactions will vary according to the responsibility load of the
time. Some people at forty-nine may still be seriously involved in
raising their children. They don't feel free to let go and take on
something new. They can use the next cycle of fifty-six to accomplish
this as long as they don't take the attitude that it is too late. The
perspective on how to do it may have changed, but the ability to
accomplish has not. The point is that there is a natural release of
energy every seven years which encourages you to move forward and
make changes. It helps to keep you from getting stuck in a rut. Flow
with these cycles and you will find change less fearful.

whole self occurs.

At forty-nine
you are still trying to say, "I've got to make it before I have to
let go."
